"Inside FitzGerald’s, one of the Chicago area’s most loved music venues. Babygold is style agnostic, plucking from a variety of regional traditions to offer top-notch baby-back ribs, brisket, and pulled pork. A giant combo platter is dubbed “Berwyn Style.” Berwyn has marketed itself as one suburb that doesn’t feel like a suburb. But with Babygold, Chicagoans may actually have a reason to venture out. Veggie options are available, and a Chicago location, inside From Here On, the food hall inside the Old Post Office, recently debuted." - Ashok Selvam, Eater Staff
"Ok, hear us out. Babygold Barbecue isn’t in Chicago, it’s actually out in Berwyn. But if listening to jazz while eating fantastic barbecue ribs sounds fun, you need to make a trip out here. Babygold recently opened at FitzGeralds, a 40-year-old music venue. And the music isn’t just what makes this place worth the drive—the BBQ is great, too. The meat has a wonderful smoke, and while the ribs don’t have a bark, they are tender and covered with a sweet sauce we really like. Make sure to get an order of the beans (which are full of big pieces of brisket), and the al dente mac and cheese. They just remodeled their outdoor patio, and they have live music nightly, with bands playing everything from jazz to blues to bluegrass." - adrian kane, john ringor
"Babygold Barbecue is attached to Fitzgerald’s, a Berwyn bar and performance venue that’s been around since the 1980s. It’s a great place to hear live music throughout the year with two indoor stages hosting anything from local funk bands to touring jazz ensembles. But it’s their third performance venue, an outdoor patio, that makes this place worth leaving the city limits. You can enjoy the tunes, sip on a frozen paloma, and stuff your face with ribs. Check here for their performance calendar." - john ringor
"Some of the best BBQ in Chicago is actually in nearby Berwyn at Babygold Barbecue. But now they have a spot in the From Here On food hall inside the West Loop’s Old Post Office, so you won’t have to leave city limits for their pulled pork sandwiches, brisket, and barbecue lunch bowls." - john ringor, veda kilaru
"Babygold, founded in 2021 under the direction of decorated chef John Manion (El Che), opened on Monday, February 12 inside the food hall at 433 W. Van Buren Street, notifying fans just days earlier in an Instagram post. Manion, who just opened Brasero, is no longer involved in Babygold, but fans can still count on staples like juicy brisket, pulled pork, and turkey hot links alongside new submissions designed to lure a lunchtime crowd seeking a satisfying meal that won’t induce meat sweats or result in a very sleepy afternoon." - Naomi Waxman
