Bacatá

"Colombian chef Fernando Arévalo's latest dining concept occupies the same premises as his now-defunct Preludio, but the space has been remodelled beyond recognition. The seven-course tasting menu offers a unique, innovative take on the cuisine of his home nation, with seasonal produce from around the world and subtle Japanese influences. Consider ordering the arroz caldoso, too – Arborio rice in a flavoursome uni and smoked eel broth." - Michelin Inspector

Had our anniversary dinner there and we had a wonderful time. The dishes were delicious and cocktails yummy. We never had columbian food and we are so glad we did. Chef does seafood especially well, cuttlefish and Boston lobster were cooked to perfection. We had iberico pork for mains and it was so tender and tasty. Shout out to the service staff too. I like that the service was warm and friendly and not stuffy and overly formal like other high end restaurants. Already made another two business lunch bookings.

Chef Han, the restaurant GM and the staff took very good care of us for our 5th wedding anniversary. Friendly, attentive, and engaging, we had a wonderful night. A fitting evolution from Preludio - it's the same owners and staff, currently in the soft opening phase and still tweaking their menu and fitting out the restaurant. Food was excellent - modern take on Chef Fernando's native Colombian cuisine. The elevated plantain-and-cheese dessert was incredible, the lobster potato soup sublime, and the bread with it's mushroom-balsamic-bacon glaze a must have. We would definitely come again, and soon!

It’s a fairy tale experience for me! The food is fabulous. Their specialty flower-like bread is one of the best bread I have ever tried. Many of their dishes have incorporated authentic Columbia’s cuisine elements and also included some Asian ingredients. For example, one dish has salted egg in the source. All the international ingredients are harmoniously combined in this taste menu experience! The chef and staff are very friendly and they will passionately tell you stories behind the food instead of just listing all the ingredients and the source countries. One of my favorite is that they show me how Columbian local people open a passion fruit (just by hitting their heads! 🤣) The interior design is mysterious and exotic for me, because I’ve never been to Latin America. The staff showed me how the beautiful vases are handmade by local Colombian people. I will definitely recommend this restaurant to people: 1) who want to celebrate an important anniversary with some memorable experiences and delightful dishes. Or 2) who want to have some interesting cultural exposure and travel to Columbia mentally without being physically there. Or simply 3) who love food! If you are interested in their cuisine/culture, don’t be shy to ask! The staff will give you a trip to Latin America with their kind words, for all the customers from the world.

Very delicious and refined cooking . Was impressed! Perfect food portion control and great timing between each course. Do try the tasting menu, everything from appetizers to dessert was unique and sumptuous. A great place to celebrate birthday , instead of the usual cake/desserts, they served something special :) ( Not going to spoil the fun by saying)

I would rate my overall experience at Bacata Singapore a 3 out of 5. The tasting menu, priced at $158++, was not entirely worth it due to small portions. I had to order extra dishes to satisfy my hunger, and while the food was good, it didn't blow my mind considering the steep price of close to $500 for the menu. I have had better quality food with more expensive tasting menus at other restaurants in the past. The atmosphere was a bit disappointing as well. On a Thursday evening, there were only two other guests besides us, which didn't create the vibrant ambiance I was hoping for. It was a bit of a pity. However, I must commend the excellent service provided by the staff. I enjoyed my experience more when we moved to the seating near the kitchen, where we could catch a glimpse of the food preparation. The staff also surprised my friend with a dessert piñata for her birthday, which was a thoughtful gesture. They even showed us what a plantain looks like, which was a cool touch. The cocktails, priced at $28++, were delicious and strong, just the way I like them. They had a unique taste. While the $158 tasting menu didn't quite live up to expectations, I would consider returning to Bacata Singapore and ordering a la carte next time for larger individual portions. Nonetheless, I want to express my gratitude to the team for providing us with this experience.

Inventive and delicious Colombian/ Latin American inspired menu. I am not very familiar with Colombian cuisine but everything was delicious. Had their executive lunch which was good value. Will come back to try their dinner menu dishes.

Almost perfect experience for our 17th anniversary yesterday. Wait staff were excellent and attentive. Restaurant was tastefully decorated with handmade colombian artifacts. We had the tasting menu and truth be told, i enjoyed almost every dish (although i felt the veal tongue could use some work). The El Coco cocktail is a definite crowd pleaser. Strongly suggest you visit this place before the crowd starts packing in.

Visited in Dec 2023 This was my first Colombian cuisine dining experience and it was a great one. Bacata has an a-la-carte and a tasting menu with the the tasting menu priced at S$158++ (more if you go for some additional dishes). My favourite dishes were the bread (one of the best I’ve had), lobster (Langosta) and the Iberico pork (Presa). Would definitely recommend folks to order the lobster dish as the sauce for that dish was excellent. Also liked the octopus dish. Service was fine. The restaurant was able to cater for certain allergies of mine. This place is a definite recommendation for SG residents
