Where To Go When You Want To Get Dressed Up - London - The Infatuation

"We’ve seen people in hot pink, feather-covered two-pieces at Bacchanalia, and we felt like the odd ones out. As soon as you step into the Disneyland-meets-Gladiators dining room in Mayfair, you’ll understand why your dressiest outfit won’t feel out of place. The waitstaff are dressed in gimmicky Roman togas, there are naked marble sculptures, and there’s a menu of Mediterranean-inspired dishes that range from a moreish tagliolini truffle pasta to a £130 whole lobster situation. It won’t be the most memorable food you eat, but you’re really here for the dramatic dining room and bathrooms that make the perfect backdrop for your IG thirst trap." - heidi lauth beasley, rianne shlebak

Bacchanalia Review - Review - Mayfair - London - The Infatuation

"We’ve seen people in hot pink, feather-covered two-pieces at Bacchanalia, and we felt like the odd ones out. As soon as you step into the Disneyland-meets-Gladiators dining room in Mayfair, you’ll understand why your dressiest outfit won’t feel out of place here. The waitstaff are dressed in gimmicky Roman togas, there are naked marble sculptures coming out of the walls, and there’s a menu of Mediterranean-inspired dishes that range from a more-ish tagliolini truffle pasta, to a £135 bone-in rib-eye steak. It won’t be the most memorable food you eat, but it’s perfectly nice. Plus the dramatic dining room that feels like a movie set, and bathrooms that make the perfect backdrop for your IG thirst trap, are the ideal spot for a meal when you’re feeling fancy—and you want everyone to know it." - Rianne Shlebak

Cavo Restaurant London Brings Mediterranean Food to Tottenham Court Road | Eater London

"A recently opened Mayfair restaurant has attracted criticism for its timing and excesses — launching during a cost-of-living crisis and prompting a controversy when its proprietor reportedly wanted to hire someone to hand-feed grapes, an episode that some commentators called one of the worst in the show’s history." - James Hansen

We went to Bacchanalia to celebrate my husband’s birthday… what can I say — the place is absolutely stunning, incredibly scenic and curated down to the smallest detail! You can’t help but be enchanted by its beauty. My husband is a chef, and honestly, after seeing the place online, we thought it might be one of those “Instagram spots” where the food doesn’t live up to the looks… but we were so pleasantly surprised! The food was truly delicious, bursting with flavor — every bite was an explosion of taste and creativity. The staff were wonderful — our waiter was very friendly, professional, and attentive to every detail. We also had the pleasure of meeting the manager, Enrico, and spent some time chatting with him — such a kind and welcoming person. Thank you, Enrico, for the extra cheesecake as a birthday treat! 🎂 A wonderful experience in every way. We’ll definitely be back! ❤️

We stopped in for pre-dinner drinks and were completely swept away by the atmosphere. The place is stunning — full of history, culture, statues, colour, and beautiful lighting that makes everything feel elevated and alive. The energy was amazing, the conversations flowed, the people were wonderful, and the service was excellent. A truly unforgettable spot in Mayfair. Highly recommend.

Stunning restaurant and the staff we encountered were all friendly enough. The food however is just average I'd say (as other reviewers have also commented). I had the Minute Steak from the set menu and it was very fatty and slightly cold. My wife has the seafood pasta which didn't taste particularly special. Starters were both nicer than the mains (sausage and the crispy ravioli). Deserts were limited to 2 at the time of visiting and didn't appeal to us (ice cream/tiramisu). I had the Bacchus cocktail for £22 just for the mug in the shape of Bacchus' head - it was pretty nice, quite a good amount of tequila. What you're paying for here is the ambience and decor which are indeed stunning. Be sure to check your bill at the end - we were charged an extra £7.50 for bottled water (we only had tap water) so I asked to have it taken off the bill.

Amazing food, such lovely staff members and beautiful interior. Every single person greeted us with a warm welcome, including the lovely doorman! Such a great place to visit & would recommend to all our friends. It was my birthday and they made me feel very special and surprised me with a mini cake! Presentation of food was excellent. We had the carpaccio (best one we’ve had in London), red pepper Houmous, lobster pasta, and the chicken skewer with potatoes. Everything tasted superb. Would definitely visit again.

The cocktails are delightful, and the food is top notch, full of flavor and beautifully presented. A perfect spot for dinner, celebrations, or just a great night out. Highly recommend! 🇬🇷✨

Come for the experience, the looks and service, but be careful with the food. (Long review ahead, but I've provided the TL;DR version already). The place is stunning. Absolutely drop-dead gorgeous. It's the fanciest restaurant I've ever seen in terms of decor and design. It shows a big fortune has gone into the place (£72 million, according to someone in the staff) and every penny was spent brilliantly. The bar, the lounge area, the toilets, the tables, they all look like a posh palace or museum. Even the urinals are fancy (this is the first time I attach more than pics of the food in a restaurant). If you pay attention, you'll enjoy a lot of Easter Eggs in the mural. And details, details everywhere. Service was impeccable, too. Very attentive staff without being pushy, friendly but polite, attentive to the most minute details. The food looked excellent, too. However... there are a few buts here: - The entrees were a bit on the heavy side. I'll be the first to admit they looked and tasted delicious. I enjoyed them greatly. Still, quite heavy. - My friend had the lamb steak (it was called cowboy something steak). It came a bit undercooked. She asked for a few more minutes on the grill, and the waiter returned to say it came out too dry and offered her the lamb chops instead. Those were greatly enjoyed at the time, but a few hours later they triggered a nasty indigestion. Really nasty. She is not the fussy kind of person, and she's experienced with all sorts of grills, but she suffered quite badly. - my fish was delicious, and so were the sides. Nothing to complain about here. - The drinks were very elaborate and fancy. I had a non-alcoholic thing that was nice but not overly. A bit tasteless. Not an expert, I can't complain much. The boozy cocktails were visually fascinating, but the taste was described politely as underwhelming. Again, not an expert, but that was the verdict from someone who's been to a lot of fancy places and knows what she's talking about. All in all, an outstanding visual experience, but the food can be hit-and-miss. I was lucky (good food, no incident), my friend was not (good food but with bad consequences). So, should you go? It's your wallet (and stomach), but I'd encourage it. It's the kind of place worth seeing once. Yes, it is an overpriced place, even you're lucky with your order. But you're not paying just for the food, it's for an experience which involves much more. Yes, it's packed with lots of people that look like they came there more for the Instagram pics rather than to appreciate the place with theirs own eyes. It's also quite crowded (we weren't even at rush hour). But it's a very interesting and intense experience. Give it a go, your eyes will definitely enjoy the feast. P.S. this was written on a phone during a long wait for a delayed flight. Apologies for the length and typos (from me and my autocorrect).

Breathtaking atmosphere — a true visual spectacle. The interior at Bacchanalia is absolutely stunning. The ceiling installations with the winged horses and the opulent garlands are nothing short of mesmerizing — it feels like dining inside a living artwork. The decor alone makes the visit unforgettable. The only downside was the wait. Even with a reservation, we had to wait quite a while for our table, which was a bit frustrating considering how busy it was. However, the staff handled it well and offered us an aperitif, which was a classy touch and made the delay more bearable. Once seated, everything turned around — the food was outstanding. The flavors, presentation, and quality were exactly what you’d expect from a place of this level. Service throughout the meal was warm and well-coordinated.
