Nashville’s New Restaurant Openings

"Another day, another Southern-inspired restaurant in Nashville. You’ll find all the usual suspects: fried green tomatoes, collard greens, Nashville hot honey fried chicken, pork chops, and a stage for live music. Its proximity to Printer’s Alley could make it a convenient stop for tourists hitting up the honky-tonks." - jackie gutierrez jones 2

If you see the giant photo of chicken and waffles on the outside- just know thats only for brunch and lunch. If you get there after 4, and thats what you wanted to order, you'll be out of luck. The meatloaf is actually quite good, but it won't s served with a drizzle of sorghum syrup- which is very sweet, so if you'd rather enjoy the meatloaf which seams to be made of ground steak, ask them to leave off the sorghum. The twice baked loaded baked potato is interesting. I love loaded baked potato and I love twice baked potato, but this kinda misses the mark on both counts. The insides aren't whipped smooth like a twice baked, and not fluffy like a baked. I'd skip it. The star of our order was the cowboy cigars- beef brisket spring rolls. Served with what tasted like a wasabi buttermilk dipping sauce. Just the right balance of spring roll flavor a little earthy from carrots, a little acidity from the cabbage, a little sweetness, and the richness of the brisket, wrapped and fried perfectly to accent it all with a little crispness and salt. Highly recommend.

We walked in at 6pm on a Friday night - plenty of tables and were sat down straight away. It's definitely a nice spacious place and always a great Nashville touch to have live music inside. We ordered the bread basket (biscuits and sweet cornbread with garlic butter and carrot cake jam), the Cajun chicken alfredo, and the garlic Fresno roasted boneless half chicken with sides of veggies and whipped potatoes. The biscuits were the standout of the bread - the cornbread was fine but nothing amazing. The butter was extremely garlicky and the carrot cake jam was stiff and insanely sweet. Preferred just eating the biscuits by themselves. The Cajun chicken alfredo was...fine. Absolutely nothing to write home about but edible. The roasted half chicken was where the meal really fell apart. It came out cold which was odd to eat as it was spicy (which was expected) but also that Fresno spiciness was all the flavor it had. It was just not pleasant to eat. Plated beautifully, but taste-wise it just wasn't there. The roasted veggies came out a few minutes after the rest of the food and they were...fine - it was a couple of different kinds of squash that tasted OK but nothing special. The worst sin of the night though was the whipped potatoes. They were a gloopy, salty mess that was one of the worst things I have eaten in a while. Also came out lukewarm which didn't help. Service was great throughout the evening - no issues there. Our food wasn't great as detailed above but we also found it extremely overpriced for what it was (the chicken alone with no sides was $22).

All of the apps are absolutely delicious. The fried green tomatoes are my favorite. The catfish was also good. The pork chop was overcooked and needed some of the carrot sauce from the bread to make it better.

The Back 40 is an absolute gem in the heart of Nashville! Just a short walk from Broadway, this upscale spot brings elevated dining and an unforgettable atmosphere to the city. The cocktail menu is top-tier—creative, balanced, and absolutely delicious. You can tell real thought went into every drink. The food? Five stars all the way. Whether you’re here for a leisurely brunch or a sophisticated dinner, every dish is crafted with care and packed with flavor. The brunch menu has something for everyone, and dinner was just as impressive—refined yet approachable. It’s clear that The Back 40 is raising the bar for Nashville dining. Highly recommend for anyone looking to enjoy great food, amazing drinks, and a touch of class just steps from the energy of Broadway.

For a newly opened restaurant this place is INCREDIBLE. We went for lunch and back for dinner and live music. The pork belly and fried catfish is ridiculously good. Catfish is not something I’d typically order but the breading and sauce on the catfish is an amazing combination. The smash burger with fresh made tomato bacon jam is insane… you can tell the jam is fresh made with the giant pieces of bacon. Absolutely delicious. Don’t even get me started on the bread basket with the carrot cake jam. Carrot cake jam, it’s everything you’re imagining and then some. The meatloaf on the dinner menu is killer. Special mention for the Tennessee Budino!!! Oh my goodness. You cannot skip it. It’s like homemade salted caramel sauce on top of a homemade custard. Insanely good. And last but certainly not least the service is impeccable. Nothing but smiles and warm welcomes. We frequent Nashville and will be absolutely be back!

We are a party of 8 from south Louisiana visiting Nashville duriing Superbowl weekend We came to Back 40 Nashville for lunch. We were impressed with the friendly service and inviting atmosphere. I had the Boss potato which was very tasty and the presentation was beautiful. The smash burger, fried catfish and chicken Alfredo were also big hits at our table.

Food and environment is incredible, but the people and service are even better, if somehow possible. I cannot imagine this restaurant not becoming a Nashville staple in the very near future. Will go back again and again.

What an absolutely fabulous time! From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was inviting and full of great energy. The food was outstanding—every dish was perfectly prepared and full of flavor. You can tell the kitchen takes real pride in what they put on the plate. The bartender stole the show—not only incredibly entertaining but also a top-tier mixologist. Every cocktail was creative, balanced, and beautifully presented. Definitely someone who knows their craft and makes the experience that much more memorable. The entire waitstaff was friendly, attentive, and genuinely seemed to care about making our night special. Service like that is rare and worth celebrating. Highly recommend this spot if you’re looking for a great meal, great drinks, and an all-around great vibe. We’ll definitely be back!
