27 Frozen Cocktails to Drink in Boston Summer 2019 | Eater Boston

"Back Bay Social Club puts a tropical twist on the classic that jump-started the frozen cocktail trend. Its frosé is made with rum, sparkling rosé, lime juice, and pineapple juice for an extra-refreshing patio cocktail. The restaurant also offers a second frozen cocktail that rotates daily." - Katie Faust Stryjewski

Back Bay Social Club - Review - Back Bay - Boston - The Infatuation

"What do people who were really into themed parties in college do after they graduate? Probably go to Back Bay Social Club on Boylston, which seems to throw a different themed party every night. So if Harry Potter trivia or a Halloween tiki party seem like your kind of thing, you’ll find likeminded souls here. Otherwise, the menu is a pretty standard mix of bar food, pizza, and a few meaty entrees. Head here for Happy Hour, but plan something else for dinner." - Dan Secatore

I arrived 15 minutes before my reservation; I was seated right away. I ordered hash and eggs. The scrambled eggs were good. The meat portion was generous. I asked for some bread which did not arrive. I am ambivalent about recommending the restaurant.

Good place to hangout on a game day and to grab some drinks and appetizers. The onion rings were bad but the black bean burger was excellent. We also had burrata which was decent.

Loved the area and all the shops around. Back bay showed us exceptional service. Did was great! The Caesar salad w. Hips & trout pieces were phenomenal. Burger, chicken sandwich and truffle fries were great too. We had the downeast original Cider beer which is my favorite when in Boston! Must try 💕

Google
Back Bay Social is an American Bistro and Brunch spot located in the heart of Back Bay, right near the Convention Center and Prudential Center shopping mall. We came in during lunch, and it was quite busy. Staff were very friendly, making sure we were seated promptly and our food came out quickly. I got the Chicken and Waffles. The maple syrup included was not too sweet or sticky, and went well with the waffles. For the price, the portion was pretty good, and the chicken had big portions. I think the chicken was a bit too heavy for me, but that's just my opinion and other members of my party enjoyed it a lot more. They also had good tater tots as well.

Google
Bay Bay Social is an absolute gem! I had the wings, mozzarella sticks, and the drink of the month — all were absolutely delicious. The wings were perfectly seasoned, the mozzarella sticks had that perfect crispy-outside, gooey-inside balance, and the drink was spot-on refreshing. What really stood out, though, was the service. The wait staff was incredibly patient and kind as I worked through splitting the bill so my company could cover the food. Their professionalism and friendliness made the whole experience even better. Highly recommend!

Google
Just steps from the Prudential Center AND the Convention Center, the location is as central as it gets. I've been here a few times, for drinks for dessert, to dine, all sorts of reasons. And every occasion it delivers. Even despite the mid-day rush because Boylston St can be crazyy, service is seamless: welcoming, attentive, and unhurried. There's tables booths and bar seating, on two different levels, and both level has its own unique vibe. Upstairs is more relaxed but downstairs speaks for itself. Fun spot! My dad loves the chicken and waffles, I'm a big fan of the Avocado Toast & Chicken Parm, and my go-to cocktail is the Blackberry Lust. Oh! And they offer tater tots which are also my FAVorite, and they're nice and crispy here.

Google
We went here for some casual eats on our first night in Boston. The service was great and everyone was friendly. I recommend the espresso martini! It was perfection! I had the clam chowder, which was amazing and a side salad. The ranch dressing was terrible but the salad itself was large and very fresh. My son enjoyed the turkey BLT and the truffle fries were to die for! We also had a steak sandwich with very crispy and delicious onion rings. They have some outdoor dining but it was raining that day.

Google
I had a good experience at Back Bay Social in Boston. The waiter, whose name was either David or Daniel, was extremely nice and polite. The wings were very crisp and fresh, and the salad was good. However, the quinoa salad was plain and flavorless. The prices are on the expensive side.

Yelp
I stopped in for a solo meal and had a great experience. I ordered the short ribs, which were tender and flavorful, and paired them with a draft of Maine Lunch. The service was quick and friendly, making the visit easy and enjoyable. The atmosphere inside had that classic American pub feel, and it was warm, comfortable, and relaxed. It feels like a place that would be consistent and reliable, whether you are there for a casual drink, a full meal, or to catch up with friends. The menu offers a range of solid pub fare with good drink options, and the layout makes it a great choice for larger groups or meeting up with a few to several friends. The location is also a big plus, right on Boylston Street and just steps from the Prudential Center. I came in alone and felt completely at ease, but I would gladly return with others. Back Bay Social hits the mark for a dependable, well-run pub in a prime Boston spot.

Yelp
Great food, attentive service, and a lively atmosphere. Everything was well prepared and came out quickly. A solid spot in Back Bay--highly recommended.

Yelp
Obsessed with the Mediterranean Bowl - went back for lunch recently to order it, unfortunately the service was not great we waited an hour for the food, it was only 3:30 pm it was not busy. Tasted different than the last two times we ordered it as well. The espresso martinis are great tho!

Yelp
Back Bay Social should stop hosting "special" events... they're horrible. Bought tickets to attend a 70s themed NYE party and it was cancelled with no clear notification or update. The passed apps were disgusting, luke warm, and that was IF you got a chance to taste any. The entertainment that they replaced the 70s themed party with was a sub par DJ that turned the basement into a second rate club. Music was terrible... didn't hear a single lyric in two and a half hours. I get it... sh*t happens. I will just say that it is irresponsible to advertise a unique experience, fail to deliver, and fail to offer any value to customers in retribution. A fraudulent establishment. There are plenty of amazing restaurants in Boston... if you go to Back Bay Social you're a fool and will be snookered. 0/10

Yelp
Where you at Yelp? This place came recommended by a friend, and tbh, I generally would not consider bc it's 3.5 and when I searched for lunch/dinner spots in this area, it didn't pop up. Thank goodness we trusted our friend and went because I had the most amazing salmon Caesar salad there. Sounds so basic, but these two items are one of my favorite things to eat and because it's so simple, it's a hit or miss. Sometimes the dressing is bland, sometimes it's over dressed, sometimes the portions are small, sometimes the salmon is dry, sometimes the salmon is too crispy or not crispy at all, too much croutons, not enough Parmesan, blah blah blah, but Back Bay really hit the mark on this dish. I loved the extra umami from the crumbled trout, the light crisp from the salt and vinegar chips, the freshly shredded Parmesan all over the salad top, a massive slab of lightly crisped salmon on top of a perfectly dressed Caesar salad fit for the king of Rome himself or a California girl like me. My goodness, I want to go back just thinking about it. Also, it has a bustling, meet your coworkers after a long week kind of vibe when we were there. Good vibes. We also got the chicken parmigiana which was also really good too. The tomato sauce was slightly tangy which I thoroughly enjoyed and it made a heavy dish a little lighter in feel. Though, personally I would have like the pasta to be more al dente and the sauce more fluid. Again, just a personal preference. Our server Leslie was the sweetest!

Yelp
Stopped in on a Friday while looking for a place to eat -- very happy we did! Staff was super friendly, from the bouncer out front to the wait staff. The vibes are great, music wasn't too loud and the decor was spot on. We ordered the fish and chips, a garden salad, and two beers. Prices weren't terrible and the portions were good. Food ended up being solid -- nothing crazy, but hit the spot nonetheless. Will stop by again if we're in the area again!

Yelp
awful experience at their NYE party. purchased tickets for a disco themed party on NYE that was advertised on their website through Eventbrite. I purchased tickets and called the restaurant soon after as they started advertising a different DJ for the same night on their website. no one there including a manager knew anything about the NYE event. We showed up in disco outfits for the event to be told at the door we could just go in and our tickets wouldn't scan because they switched parties. I spoke with a manager who said they switched providers however no one (Eventbrite or Back Bay Social) contacted us the disco party had been cancelled. We were left with a handful of confused people dressed in disco outfits and an EDM DJ. Bartender was nice and did offer free shots to the groups that came for the disco party. Still a very disappointing experience with no communication, confused staff, out $200 in event tickets, and we left at 10 pm after feeling frustrated.

Yelp
This was my first stop on a St. Patrick's Day pub crawl - our group was in the lower level. All the servers were kind and relatively quick. I tried the signature burger and fries - it was delicious - I loved the mixed in brisket. I just wish there were more fries and pickle slices. I also tried their themed bourbon drink - I think it was called Ready to Patty. It was sooo good - not too sweet and still relatively strong. A live band was performing - AAISHA (spelling?) was the lead singer and she was amazing - singing so many upbeat cover songs. I will definitely check out Back Bay Social again when I'm in that area.

Yelp
I don't usually eat fish unless it is sushi, I took my chances ordering their salmon entree with jasmine coconut rice because this entree was unique. To my surprise I enjoyed this item a lot! The salmon was fresh, and it didn't have that "fishy" taste that I didn't like with cooked fish. Busy place, loud, and service a little slow, but food came out pretty quick.

Miguel C.

Yelp
I stopped by on a Friday night for a quick drink and appetizer. It's great ambience with outdoor sitting on a nice day. Service was good and there was a great selection of draft beers. I can't speak for the rest of the food, but the Parmesan truffle fries were amazing.

Yelp
Solid place for Brunch in the Back Bay Area! Lots of breakfast food variety, ranging from avocado toast, eggs Benedict, to breakfast burritos! Good American place. My friend and I ordered two of the break burritos-- I got ribeye steak burrito and she got the "Hangover Cure" burrito. Both were very good! The ribeye steak was shredded and cooked perfectly in the burrito, and I really liked the guacamole, super fresh. My friend's hangover burrito was amazing, with so many different meats inside, including ham-- my all time favorite! It also had tater tots inside which was a yummy addition. The burritos came with home fries which were tasty but nothing special. Great service, and we enjoyed our meals, cannot get better than that!

Yelp
In town for business last week and popped in for a late burger - it is loud as hell after hours, and one of the guys behind the bar is rude and confrontational (trying to keep it pg.) Fries were delicious, and the other waitstaff seemed lovely. It's fine.

Christine B.

Yelp
This was such a disappointing and embarrassing experience, especially since I brought clients. We had a party of 9 that had been booked for over 6 weeks, and the service was a disaster from start to finish. When our meals arrived, one came out first, seven others trickled out afterward, and one meal was completely forgotten. We had to ask three separate times about the missing dish, which turned out to be salmon -- not exactly something that should take extra time. By the time it finally came out, everyone else's food was cold from waiting. Not once did a manager check in or offer an apology. The food itself was equally disappointing. Plates went back with food left on them across the table. Hoping dessert might salvage the experience, we had to flag down our server just to place an order. Desserts eventually arrived, but dirty entrée plates still covered the table until we specifically asked for them to be cleared. To make matters worse, the restroom was poorly maintained -- out of four stalls, two had no toilet paper. At the end, a 20% gratuity was automatically added due to the size of our group. While we remained courteous throughout, I would have preferred to adjust the tip to reflect the level of service. Unfortunately, that wasn't an option. As a group of nine people who all work in customer service in some form, we were stunned that no one -- especially management -- acknowledged the poor experience or took ownership of the mistakes. This is exactly how not to handle service issues. The restaurant wasn't busy, that should have been our first tip off about the level of service.

Yelp
The braised short ribs were surprisingly flavorful and delicious, but the root vegetables had shrunken and were mushy. My friend enjoy her fish and chips though. I like that they were not stingy with the volume of food. Service was as expected. What impressed me is honestly the immaculate vibe. The music selection was fantastic and this is a great spot to catch up with a friend/group of friends. It was very lively and I think a great option for a last minute friday night dinner spot.

Rose H.

Yelp
Ambiance, Food, Drinks and the service was spot on! Loved my drinks a perfect blend. Humus was a mouth-watering savory dish! The wings I can eat all day! Each of us had different main courses and tried each one. YES! We shared a desert and OMG. WE ALL AGREED TO COME BACK. TIPPED our server VERY WELL for such an amazing dining experience from introductions to the farewell. Absolutely a great end to our day at the 47th Boston International Antiquarian Book Fair.

Yelp
Back bay social is def for the social people in the world. My thoughts on the restaurant: tasty steak, weird music, good company (but I guess that's personal (we talked about goats and stuff)), large downstairs which I didn't go to (except for the bathroom) and overall good moods. I'll recommended this place to y'all except for the fact that I got a $10 Guinness which is crazy but somehow normal for Boston

Yelp
My friends and I stopped by Back Bay Social on the way to the Red Sox game. They have lots of options, so there's really something for everyone. One thing I noticed was that the lighting was especially dim, so much so that we had to use our phones as flashlights to view the menus! Our waiter was very kind and accommodated our various requests. We started out with the sangria pitcher, which was perfect for our group. It wasn't the best sangria I've had, especially in comparison with a place like Barcelona Wine Bar. We split a few dishes, including Spicy Sausage Pizza, Truffle Fries, and Buffalo Cauliflower. Each of them were pretty solid, but none of them were out of this world. I wouldn't go out of my way to come back here, but it's a good spot if you're looking to accommodate for various tastes.
google avatar

Bisma A.

Yelp
Came here for brunch and it's a great spot especially if you have a larger group! The staff was super accommodating and moved tables so that all of us could sit together. I tried the salmon eggs Benedict and it did not dissapoint. I only wish the portions of sides were bigger because the potatoes were delicious! I'd definitely recommend coming her for brunch if you're looking for a casual spot in Back Bay.

Natnicha L.

Yelp
If I could give zero or negative stars to this place, I absolutely would--especially because of the general manager. Easily the worst manager I've ever encountered. I was feeling unwell during my visit, and my husband asked the waiter for a sugary drink as I felt like I was experiencing hypoglycemia. They said they didn't have anything available. I sat quietly with my eyes closed for about five minutes, just trying to recover enough to leave. Then the manager came over and told my husband to take me out immediately--even though I clearly wasn't feeling well. It was incredibly inhumane to be treated that way while I was sick, especially since I wasn't causing any disturbance. Someone with that kind of attitude should not be in a managerial role. This was the worst experience I've ever had, and I would never recommend this place to anyone.
google avatar

Stephon M.

Yelp
Popped in on an early Saturday afternoon and it was a vibe! Music was on point. Bar was busy in a good way. The bartender was super chill so it was good to get her opinion on oysters and beer. Wish i had more time to stay longer. I also wish the TV had a mix of things on because its March Madness, NHL, etc. they could have switched up some of the side by side tvs. Overall i will be back!
google avatar

Abby H.

Yelp
Hubby & I stopped here for a casual dinner per my local friend's recommendation. Love the cozy atmosphere! Our server was so sweet and the food was delicious. When the wrong burger came out for my husband, he asked the server about it and he realized it was indeed the wrong item and took it back to get him what he ordered. My husband wasn't upset at all but the manager even came to our table to apologize for the oopsie & comped his burger on the bill! Was not necessary for them to do that but we definitely appreciated the kind gesture. Would be happy to come back next time we're in Boston to try some other menu items that looked yummy.

Yelp
My friends and I came here on a Thursday night after dinner for drinks. It wasn't packed, so it was easy to find a booth to sit in. They were playing R&B music, which I loved! And it was easy to chat with friends because it wasn't to noisy. They weren't serving the large format cocktails so I ordered the Berries and Spice. I couldn't taste the berries in this drink, but I did taste the spice. We didn't order food, but I think it is a decent place to grab drinks if you are in the area late at night.
google avatar

Clara S.

Yelp
Great music on a Friday afternoon, service was great and food was good. I ordered the steak bomb - wish I didn't have to go back to work because the Midnight Mass drink looked amazing. Steak bomb was good, and the fries were thin & crispy! Enjoyed the ambience too!
google avatar

Yelp
Wow what a hidden gem! Breakfast/lunch/dinner and then take a stroll down their amazing selection of books definitely coming back !

Yelp
Wonderful service, great pub vibe, and delicious sandwiches. Waiters were very nice, and menu had great variety! Would visit again.

Dr. Richard S.

Yelp
I rate this a 3.9. Reservations were still available late on a busy night. Sat inside, but outdoor seating looks cool. The truffle fries were very good and would get again. I got the penne alla vodka with grilled chicken, the chicken was very good, the sauce was very good, maybe a little too over cooked, woulddddd like to see a different pasta type, maybe some rigatoni. Waitress was very nice and fast. #JusticeForRigatoni
google avatar

Bumblebea F.

Yelp
The food was good but I'm not so sure about the service. I got my ID checked twice. Once by the waitress and another by the manager. The reason my ID got double check was because I got a drink but my friend got a soda. Perhaps it's common but that has never happened to be before. I'm not sure I'd come here again. The waitress was kind though.
google avatar

Saumya M.

Yelp
Very ideally located across from the convention center and they can accommodate big groups, such makes this a great spot for a work dinner. They have a good selection of beers, wines, and cocktails. I tried the espresso martini which was quite sweet but otherwise pleasant. The menu is varied and mostly a combination of pub food and New American. The rest of my group thought their entrees (salads, clam chowder soup, fish and chips) were like a 4/5. Unfortunately I ordered a fan favorite, the squash ravioli, which was overly creamy with a monotonous flavor profile. Service was good. Our server was attentive and efficient. Overall a decent experience and I would still recommend this spot for a group/work dinner.

Yelp
Food: I don't remember what I got, but came here with some college friends for a club event and we got some breakfast food. I remember it being VERY basic, average, and something I could easily make better for a much cheaper price. Nothing was outstanding to me, and I wouldn't come back again. I went here before I turned 21 so no drinks were really involved, but since I'm legal now and not into the drinking scene, I don't think I'd come back. Store: Came here on a weekend (Before COVID) and it was PACKED during brunch hours. I sat inside, but there is outdoor seating and it's a vibe, being in Back Bay. The area is really fun, maybe at night it is different with drinks and people watching in the city.

Kenzi B.

Yelp
I recently got this dish again and it was much improved/more like how it used to be. Maybe someone was still learning how to make it before. Anyways, had to update!
google avatar

Em B.

Yelp
Great food, I loved the pretzel bites and hummus plate. They were both really delicious. The drinks were watered down which killed the energy. We didn't stay for entrees due to the drinks not being strong enough, so we went somewhere else. They've got a cute interior, with an old school Boston Bar theme that makes you feel like you've transported back in time. Will stop by when I'm the area, but won't go out of my way for it.

James O.

Yelp
The mozzarella sticks -- which were brick-like in size, shape, and density -- were a delight.

Blair L.

Yelp
Dirty glass - bartender serviced guests not based on first come first serve. Very disappointed

Corinne Y.

Yelp
We had the salmon, a pizza, and the penne allá vodka. I really wasn't expecting much, it seemed like a typical American restaurant. The salmon and pasta were very good though and exceeded expectations. Service was good

Poemlarp M.

Yelp
We had one of the worst experiences ever. The manager came over and said, "You need to take your wife out right now," even though she wasn't feeling well. She eventually felt better, but I've never experienced someone being so forceful in a situation like this. What if someone were seriously sick -- would you still force them out of the restaurant? I've had better experiences at fast food places than I did here. You either need a better manager or need to learn how to handle situations like this more professionally.

Jackie C.

Yelp
Excellent food and service! We really enjoyed the French onion soup, clam chowder, and French dip. And dessert was decadent!

Ryan F.

Yelp
Back Bay Social is Boston staple with something for everybody. The menu has length to offer in the way of fine American food. The rotisserie chicken entree has a Peruvian style flare that I would consider some of the best roasted chicken I have ever had. The steak fajita bowl is a full healthy portion of steak, veggies, rice, and guacamole. The steak which I had prepared medium was tender, cooked to the perfect temp, and sliced into large chucks. I have never left this restaurant hungry or disappointed!

Yelp
My friends and I came here for brunch one Sunday morning. Even though we didn't make reservations for outdoor seating, they were able to accommodate us because it actually wasn't too busy (which personally was surprising to me for a Sunday but anyway)...Outdoor seating is minimal but a nice option. They had a few tables blocked off on the street which is where we were seated, and although it's not the nicest outdoor area, especially with all the loud cars whizzing by, the views of the prudential and just the vibes of the city were enjoyable. As for food I ordered the eggs Benedict which was good but personally nothing special. It typically comes with some kind of potatoes I think, but I was able to substitute it for tater tots. My friends ordered the bagels and lox, and the sesame seared tuna bowl. The tuna bowl actually looked and smelled delicious and my friend enjoyed it. If I ever came back for brunch I'd probably try that, or one of the sweet pancakes or French toast. Service was decent, although I had to keep asking for water and they forgot a few times. The drink I ordered was delicious: BBS spritz. Sweet, light, and I would recommend! Overall, I'm giving this place 3 stars because it was just pretty average. Nothing spectacular or anything to really rave about. The location is prime, right downtown on Boylston street, and the outdoor seating option is nice to have, but other than that everything in general was just okay.
google avatar

Rachel D.

Yelp
We had just gotten into Boston and were staying at the Marriott Copley Place across the street. This place looked great so we headed over. The service was fantastic! We also had a couple people stop over to see how we were doing and chatted with us a little bit, it was really nice. We had a table outside, a nice change for us coming from Texas -- where outside seating sometimes gives you heat stroke the service bumped this up to 5 stars for me. The food was great! So great in fact that we gobbled it up before we even took pics. We started with the Truffle Fries which were phenomenal. My husband had the Chicken and Waffles which was a nice balance of sweet and savory. He said they were excellent! I had the Fried Chicken Sandwich which hit the spot for me. They were also super accommodating. I can't have tomatoes so they switched out the tomato aioli for me to something else. Overall a wonderful experience.
google avatar

Davetta K.

Yelp
We had a ball! The drinks and food were yummy! The only thing is my friend asked for a well done burger and the burger was rare. The french toast and pancakes were cooked perfectly, edges and all. We loved the chicken and waffles too. We'll definitely be back tho! Thanks.

Yelp
Stopped in for late night food & drinks - what a mistake! We ordered a couple of beers & wine & a few basic apps. Waitress took our order, brought drinks & then never came back. Later on we are told that she gave our table to someone else. That person comes flying by & we complain that our food has not come out yet and we had been waiting a very long time. She disappears, we never see her again & we get the food finally except for one person's pretzel bites. We tell the food runner & after a long time, we go back to the original waitress to get our check & the pretzel bites finally came out. They took the food off the bill & we paid & left - NEVER AGAIN. If this restaurant can't handle late night food, then offer a simplified late night menu.

Yelp
Back Bay ... not like Just Okay. While a great place to be social with the girls on a budget, don't expect to be razzle dazzled. The servers are nice, the vibes are chill, but you can't get anything you couldn't make at home for less. We should've known it was trouble when they asked us how we wanted our salmon cooked (idk girl, just cook it) Next time, we may just pack a lunch
google avatar

Neha D.

Yelp
Mediocre food but decent amount of variety for brunch lunch and dinner. Came to watch a sports game not realizing that there are only two small TVs above the bar. Big space with upstairs and downstairs tables
google avatar

Hayley H.

Yelp
We had been in the area intending to check out a few different spots, but didn't realize they were all reservation only. We ended up finding a table on Open Table at Back Bay Social, and thirty minutes later we were there. We had the fried chicken sandwich and truffle fries. I personally wasn't impressed by the chicken sandwich, but the truffle fries were great. Super flavorful.
google avatar

Lauren B.

Yelp
Food was just ok a were the espresso martinis. I think if we had sat outside then maybe it would have been nicer. The bench in the bar seating tipped forward which was a little awkward. Absolutely loved the raspberry cocktail! Good spot to stop for a drink but would skip the food.

Yelp
After arriving in Boston, we headed towards our hotel and stopped into this spot for a late lunch since we were starving! I shared the Monte Cristo with my son and the hubs shared their burger with my other kiddo. They did not stop talking about that burger throughout our trip and I must say, the Monte Cristo was quite delicious. The French toast huffed sandwich dipped in warm maple syrup was so satisfying. Their breakfast potatoes were perfectly cooked and seasoned very well. I highly recommend this casual restaurant if you are in the area.

Yelp
The ambiance here was warm, cozy, and a little classy which gave an overall pleasant dining experience. The servers were also really nice and attentive. I had ordered the Mediterranean bowl which was super tasty and a healthy option for $16. I also ordered the strawberry pancakes to split with a friend and they were dense, thick, but because of that it will taste a little dry without sauce. Just a note for anyone looking to order pancakes, they charge $1 for a small pack of maple syrup. Overall a nice dining experience and would come again

Went here with about 7 people for a farewell dinner meeting. Food was very good-we shared the Brussel sprouts and the truffle fries. My tuna bowl was excellent-I loved the variety of veggies and crunch! Most of my guests had the chocolate cake and loved it, I had the crepe brûlée which was a little bland. Only complaint was that it was very loud and difficult to hear due to the music and others' conversations.
