S.F.’s Birdbox Opens in New York With Its Fried Chicken — Claw and All | Eater NY

"At 245 West 46th Street I discovered Backstage Food Hall, made to look like a Broadway theater: a darkened, theatrical space where a man sat in a window with his head cradled in his hands, three small tables sat nearby, a bank of green numbered lockers lined one wall, and a pair of upright touch-screen consoles listed about 20 vendors (bowls, burgers, cookies, salads, sushi), including Birdbox. The space felt almost like a lost Samuel Beckett production, and Eater is checking whether Birdbox is a pop-up, a long-term presence, or a spinoff in a different location." - Robert Sietsema

Loved everything about this place! The atmosphere and service was really top notch. The restaurant itself had a little rustic vibe that I liked. Our server Olivia took really good care of us! (loved the Bahama Mama)….. and the food was delicious! Next time I’m in New York, I’ll definitely be back!

We stayed next door at Hotel Scherman, and ended up here every night. The food was really good, the live music was entertaining, but the staff was amazing. Peyton made us feel like we were old friends that hadn't seen each other in years. Highly recommend!

We went to Backstage Tavern for drinks after a Broadway show and had a great time. The drinks were excellent—I tried the Mezcal Matinee and the Green Refresher, both were spot on. It's honestly one of the best bars to hit up post-Broadway show, especially since you might catch a Broadway actor or actress performing live, like we did. 💁‍♀️ The chef and staff were great—super welcoming and accommodating. Definitely worth a visit.

AMAZING restaurant! The food was incredible (we got the steak frites and carne asada tacos). The customer service was perfect. Lots of friendly staff. We had great convos with the host, waiters and head chef. Great, comfortable atmosphere with live music almost every night. Highly highly recommend!

We discovered this place by accident while walking down 46th St looking for a place to eat. We were greeted by Pablo? outside the restaurant while scanning the menu. Our group decided to dine there based on Pablo's high praise for the burger that was on the menu. Most of us ordered the burger which was amazing. Our server Ian kept us entertained and was very helpful and attentive. We would definitely come back again when visiting New York.

Solid resto bar near Time Square!!!Amazing cocktails and divine food. Their appetizers and sandwiches are delicious. We just had lunch there and now we can’t wait to be back.

I visited Backstage Tavern after wandering down 46th street looking for somewhere to eat before seeing a gig at Blue Note in the evening. I would highly recommend it - nestled away and quiet for a Saturday night, a great place to escape for some food and a drink. I had the Korean chicken sandwich and it was great - as you’d expect in NY, great portions. Very friendly service and a wind range of beers on offer. Plenty of TVs for watching whatever sport is on when you’re visiting. I’d definitely recommend this for a drink and/or food before a show or gig near Times Square.
