Where to Find Tasty Totchos and Other Loaded Tots in Portland - Eater Portland

"Backwoods Brewing in the Pearl gets creative with beers like its black currant sour and pecan pie porter, and that ethos extends to the food menu. Nachos feature smoked salmon or pulled pork, and the latter can be upgraded to totchos for just $1 extra. The potatoes come with all the usuals, including shredded cheese, diced tomatoes, onions, cilantro, and jalapeños, plus a drizzle of barbecue sauce made with the brewery’s Copperline Amber ale. Backwoods is open for takeout, delivery, and dining in." - Krista Garcia

Washington’s Backwoods Brewing Will Fill the Vacant Pearl Tavern Space - Eater Portland

"Backwoods Brewing Company is crossing the border from Washington to open a new location in Portland's Pearl District, taking over the space formerly occupied by Pearl Tavern. The new venue will feature a family-friendly environment with all-ages hours for lunch and dinner. While specific details on the food menu are not fully disclosed, it is expected to include items like pizzas, grilled sandwiches, and a children's menu, focusing on local and high-quality ingredients. The beer offerings will consist of straightforward but excellent pilsners, IPAs, and pale ales." - Brooke Jackson-Glidden

We're in from out of town and found Backwoods near our hotel. We are extremely happy with our visit. The beer was very good. There were some beers with incorporated flavors, not my cup of tea, but my guest was happy. My stout was exactly what I wanted. Our food was very good too. I had a pulled pork sandwich with sweet potatofries, and my guest had the pesto chicken sandwich. We highly recommend this as a reasonably priced downtown restaurant.

I do not recommend ordering the Brussels sprouts to go. I paid $16.00 for this. The few that were in there seemed a little undercooked. The hamburgers were good and out of everything, the tater tots were the best. They held up their crunch. Hoping to try them out in person one day because the beer list sounds amazing.

The beer and food were awesome! The mushroom stew was delicious. Sadly I didn't get a pic of a stablemates three cheese mac-n-cheese. It was AMAZING. Try the S'mores stout. It tastes just like a s'more.

Delicious meal of the day. It was some kind of fish which I truly enjoyed. I have a well traveled palette so I asked for some extra garlic butter and lemons to add to my fish just in case. But I was pleasantly surprised at how perfectly seasoned the dish was. Well done Backwoods! I have attached before and after pics of my plate to show how much I enjoyed the meal. However, I was disturbed by how liberally the staff sprayed the table adjacent to us with a Peroxide solution, and then wiped it down with a cloth. This happened just after our meals were served. It happened again while we had our drinks after the second group left the same table. I worry that the spray's microparticules will travel to meals and drinks nearby and as a result we are subconsciously ingesting a cleaning agent!! I suggest that you spray the solution on a cloth away from food and drink, and then just wipe the table with the cloth. I would otherwise have given Backwoods 5 stars....

It's one of my favorite all time Breweries. The beers were awesome and got to have The Stumbler on draft. We got there just after they opened so we didn't have to wait for a table. Food and drinks came out quick. The food was delicious, and I recommend the smoked salmon nachos and the pastrami sandwich.

It was super nice and I loved the place. It's kinda a hidden but not. The server was sweet and very attentive. The food was amazing. Everyone loved their burgers and or chicken n tots. Best chicken and tots plate I've ever had. The raspberry lemonade was super good sweet and refreshing. I can't wait to come back especially for date night. I'm so glad we have this place in Portland with great prices, plenty of food, great service and great place to be in. Had a great time.

The foods are ok, but the hamburger steak is juicy. The beer there were very nice and you can call a round with pick any 6 of them before you made decision.
