The Best Filipino Restaurants In Chicago

"Perfect for large groups, Bacolod Chicken House in North Park is a spacious restaurant that’s another excellent spot for a kamayan experience. But if you’ve just painted “Starry Night” nail art on each finger and don’t want to risk messing it up with a bare-handed feast, you can still come for this BYOB spot’s a la carte menu. Their specialty is chicken inasal, the dish that the Filipino city of Bacolod is known for. And it’s a must-try—perfectly charred chicken skin and tender meat flavored by a calamansi marinade. They also have delicious lumpia shanghai, and some of the best lechon kawali we’ve ever had. Wash that fatty meat and salty skin down with a six-pack of Filipino beer like a light San Miguel, or the more robust Red Horse." - john ringor

Bacolod Chicken House - Review - North Park - Chicago - The Infatuation

"For delicious Filipino homestyle cooking, we head to Bacolod Chicken House in North Park. The restaurant is bright and spacious, with plenty of tables for lunch or dinner with all 15 of your cousins (plus that one you always forget). The Filipino city of Bacolod is known for its chicken inasal, and that dish is excellent here, with grilled, smoky chicken skin and tender meat flavored by a tangy calamansi marinade. Other menu standouts are the kare kare packed with string beans and fall-off-the-bone oxtail in a peanut butter stew, and some of the best lechon kawali we’ve had. This pork belly has a fantastic crunch (but won’t chip a tooth) and the meat is fatty and tender. Everything comes in generous portions and is best eaten family-style, so come hungry, and make sure your 16 cousins are, too." - John Ringor

I only came here once awhile ago and we had a group going for the boodle fight. When some of us got there at our reservation time, they had the table partially prepared. They need everyone from our party to arrive, so that they can prepare the whole table. You eat with your hands. It was rice, different kinds of meat and seafood, etc. They also brought us halo halo and like dessert egg rolls (forgot the name). Price per person wasn’t too bad. I left full and satisfied. We found free parking either by the restaurant or one of the side streets. The staff was very nice and attentive.

Google
The staff here is so nice and friendly with explaining the different sauces and menu options. Our group was not familiar with anything on the menu and the staff patiently answered all our questions. We ordered the salo salo platter for 4 people and we all left so satisfied. Food came out very quickly. The presentation was perfect and all the food was cooked and seasoned well. The food is definitely all heavily salted and rich but it balanced so well with the vinegar-based sauces provided. We will definitely come back to try the boodle fight with a larger group

Google
The boodle-boodle caught our eye, and we ordered this festive feast for Mothers Day. It’s proportioned for 5 but there’ll be plenty to share + leftovers. Must order the feast 24 in advance! Absolutely worth it. My mom enjoyed it so much that we came back the next week and I got to try their halo-halo. Love their version, huge portion, also plenty to share. Excellent, kind and attentive service each time. Clean, cozy, colorful environment. No parking lot but street parking in front of the building and around the block is reasonably available.

Authentic Filipino dishes. Generous servings. Batchoy is really delicious and they have a vast selection of appetizers and entree. Balut is also available if you're craving for one and the place is spacious with really pretty Filipino fiesta decors. Must visit for Filipinos living in Chicago

The Batchoy (hope I spelled it correctly) was extremely delicious. My wife is from Iloilo and we looked all over town for it and she says it is very similar to what she has in the Phillipines. I had it and it tasted really good. I also had the chicken (Paav I think) and garlic rice and was delicious. Will definitely be back for sure.

My husband and I invited our friends to dine in this homey Filipino Restaurant. Authentic Filipino Dishes! We enjoyed the platter which is good for 4 people. The Dinuguan , kare kare , egg rolls snd kaderetang kambing is scrumptious! You want desserts? Try their jumbo sized Halo Halo! One order can share with 4 people! Halo Halo is tagalog for MIXED. It is a popular dessert in the Philippines made up of crushed ice, milk, leche flan and a lot of sweet fillings! Must try it! 😊😊😊 btw kudos to the staff who are so so friendly!! Thanks for the birthday greeting!! Appreciate you all

We had a great 👍 boodle feast experienced! Good for 5 person, charges $25 per person. The turon (plantain banana) is divine! You have to call for reservation and arrived on time. We will definitely be back with friends and families!

Drove over an hour from Plainfield just to try this place. It was worth the drive. All the food we got was delicious. Definitely try their signature dishes. We'll definitely be back.

Yelp
If you've ever wanted to experience the authentic Filipino Style of eating with your hands, aka "Kamayan" you need to grab a fun group and reserve a spot here at Bacolod Chicken House. You won't regret it! Tip - they won't start preparing your table until your whole party arrives in order to keep the food nice and fresh. So what is a boodle fight you ask? Well the whole table is covered in fragrant banana leaves and then laid out with white rice. Next, the Ulam (side dishes/finger foods) are laid out. It ranges from egg rolls, tapas, fried fish, shrimp, longanisa (sweet cured pork sausage), fried eggplant dipped in egg, along with mangos, and other fruits situated in the middle of the table. Check out my pic. Keep in mind that there are NO UTENSILS to use. The whole point of a Boodle Fight is to eat with your hands, as that is the traditional way of eating is in the Philippines. It's so much fun! We had our Friendsgiving/Friendsmas celebration here and we had a great time with great food. There's so much food so be prepared to take some home with you. The ladies that work here are super friendly and attentive. They remind me of my aunties! For dessert we had halo halo - a mix of ube ice cream, shaved ice, coconut gels, sweet beans, etc. We also had Turon- ripe plaintain banana and sugar, wrapped in egg roll wrapper and fried. Definitely recommend and the price is very reasonable for all that food!

Yelp
I hate to rate this place so low because I love to see Filipino restaurants succeed, but this one just hit the mark big time. The biggest disappointment was the cansi and sisig. Cansi was made of pork knuckles like pata..it really looked like karekare but sour. Sisig was flavorless and not good at all. They need to improve their vent system because the smoke inside was unbearable and we left smelling awful.

Yelp
Very friendly people and good Filipino food! We started with their famous batchoy (sorry, we forgot to take pictures before hubby and son devoured the bowls of hot noodle soup they ordered) and son said he'd order the bigger bowl next time because it was really good! They also each had a plate of grilled chicken inasal with rice and atchara (sweet pickled papaya shreds). I had the Lumpiang sariwa, with still-crisp vegetables, wrapped in a thin crepe, finished with a sweet soy-based sauce and some crushed peanuts. We ended our meal with halo-halo, a large bowl of sweet morsels served over shaved ice and evaporated milk and topped with ice cream. Their version of this Filipino snack/dessert came with sweet beans, sweetened banana, sweet potatoes, coconut gel, coconut sport strips, tiny tapioca balls, ube ice cream and corn flakes. The dining area is clean, the bathroom well-kept and looked like someone took the time to make sure it stayed clean and smelled fresh. They have a few TV screens tuned in to Filipino programming but the volume of programming he sound was just right so guests could still carry on conversations. We have been to this restaurant a few times over the course of a few years and they have delivered on taste every time.

Yelp
We have been long customer of Bacolod Chicken House. To non-filipinos, this restaurant isn't just filipino food, it focuses on specialties from a specific region. So it's like if a japanese restaurant specialized in okinawa, or a mexican restaurant specialized in oaxacan food. You're traveling to the intimate parts of the Philippines in Chicago! Personally, if you're trying to eat at seafood city, skip it. GO HERE! Much better, much fresher, and cleaner. As an ilonggo, their food is truly authentic to Negros, especially their batchoy and inasaal. All day silog breakfast is amazing too, always get garlic rice! For me, their dishes that they do the best would be SALU SALO PLATTER (all the different meat, perfect for a party of 4-5. Featured fish, pork, beef, and chicken! Great for trying the menu with a smaller party of people) BATCHOY (Native soup to bacolod) INASAAL (Ilonggo Style Chicken, paired with rice, atcharra- like filipino coleslaw or kimchi, and sauce) LUMPIA (Small egg roll apps, very addicting!) TURON (imagine banana foster, but filipino!) I swear on my life-- their turon is the best turon i've ever had. I've lived in california too, and i swear that their turon is still the better than what LA and SF have to offer. The turon recipe is an original from the first owners-- it's a twist on the filipino street food. Instead of the classic filipino banana fried in eggroll wrapper then caramelized, it's a fresh crispy eggroll filled with filipino banana, dark chocolate (tsokolate-- filipino chocolate), and provided a caramel sauce to dip. Innovative and insanely delicious. Another unique thing for them to offer is their BOODLE FIGHT or Kamayan. This is a feast for a large party of people and it's the filipino way to party! It's where all the food is laid out on a banana leaf covered table, and forget the forks and spoons and knives-- it's hands! The filipino way to eat that was born out of soldiers way of eating on the battle field. It includes an array of different meats and seafoods, veggies, and of course-- RICE !! You feel immersed in the Philippines culture from tastebuds to hands! If you want to try authentic filipino experience here in the chicagoland area with a large group of people-- I HIGHLY RECOMMEND PLANNING A BOODLE FIGHT FEAST! The owner and staff are super nice, just please remember to be kind and patient! Ambience is a mom and pop resto, clean and simple. Nothing crazy or fancy, but features decorations all the way from Bacolod, maskara! Truly an hidden gem, a lot of heart and soul poured into the restaurant. Honestly i'm reluctant because i want to gatekeep this restaurant but it deserves all the love! Happy feasting !!

Yelp
Aug 7, 2023 Monday : met up with family from Chicago and they took us here for lunch. Staff is friendly and place is clean. We were the only ones there with another couple who was leaving. We ordered Batchoy..one with liver and one without. It's a soup with meat, boiled egg, and liver. We also ordered oxtail kare kare (flilipino version of curry), pork sisig (pigs face cut up of cheeks and pig ears, and fresh lumpia. Pork sisig is good but I had better. Loved all the food. My least favorite was the fresh lumpia, it had too many chick peas and another type of root or veggies. All in all it was a good experience. I would go back for the kare kare, Batchoy, and try another dish. We were too full for dessert. Check them out! Happy eats!

Yelp
Had a very nice dinner here during the week with my friend. We ordered Crispy Pata, Sisig, Chicken Inasal, Balut, Batchoy, and Mais con Yelo. All of it was pretty good, although I personally just don't love the sisig here. Maybe it is Bacolod style? It didn't taste like the typical Pampanga one I'm used to, and I just wasn't that much of a fan. Everything else though, was excellent. Service was very attentive and both the ladies that come over to check on us, bring out our food, etc we're all sooo friendly. They suggested to come back with a big group to do their Kamayan style dinner which is something I've always wanted to do. I'm surprised this place doesn't have higher reviews, because I like it a lot and our service was excellent. I'll be back hopefully soon!

Yelp
I cannot wait to go back. I already know which dish from the menu I will order, the next time I visit Bacolod Chicken Haus. Under new ownership (since 2021), the place has been re decorated and I guess the menu was also tweaked a little. The first time I came here was about 4 years ago. It was for a boodle fight with some friends and we had a great time. A few weeks ago, a couple of friends suggested that we come here for dinner. We definitely made the right choice. We tried: BANGUS BELLY- I loved how the bangus skin was crispy and the belly was so flavorful. MINI CRISPY PATA- Winner! Cooked perfectly. I ended up taking home half of the meat. This dish was so well worth the price. SISIG- My friend asked for the fried egg to be separated. This made the sisig crunchy and delicious. PORK SINIGANG- I ordered this to go for my daughter. I tried it at home too, it was so good. I just hoped there were a few more pieces of meat though We shared a satisfying Flan for dessert. I actually wanted a Turon but they only served it with chocolate, so we opted for the Flan instead. The place was clean, service was great and the food was worth coming back for. Street parking can be a challenge though. I will definitely be back to try other dishes, I'm sure they are all just as good as what I have tried. P.S. It's BYOB :)

Yelp
Im a frequent customer. Our family loves CRISPY PATA. We like their Crispy Pata because its already sliced and in sections. We have our own set and dont need to foght for the skin which everyone loves. Its quite tasty too esp paired with garlic rice. We also like their Grilled Bangus Belly if you like fish. Their specialty is their Chicken Inasal which my aunt likes. We also like their noodle soup called Batchoy. It comes with egg and topped with shredded chicken and chicken liver. I wouldn't recommend their Crispy Squid. Its not crispy and its hard to chew. Their Mais con Yelo looks really good but whilw writing this review, I'm still soooo full from my Crispy Pata Meal i havent tried it yet.

Yelp
Im sad to say that I'm no longer going to be ordering from this place again. I ordered the chicken inasal meal and I was upset to find out it didn't come with atchara. I also noticed that the garlic rice was much smaller compared to before. Good thing I ordered extra rice. My partner ordered bangsilog and it was even worse. The quality of food went down so much the daing(fish) was so small and did not even have belly, which is the best part of the fish. The batchoy was poorly packed, half of the soup was lost, what a waste. How unfortunate because this is one of only a handful of places that offer chicken inasal in Chicago and the quality/quantity has definitely gone down.

Yelp
Bacolod Chicken House is truly a gem! They have wide variety of choices for their dishes, very affordable and they serve Filipino food that are very delicious. The place is very clean and nice. The staff are super friendly and the owner itself sits on the cash register area to make sure that all customers are well attended. I would recommend this as they have very delicious Filipino home recipes. The staff and the owner were very accommodating. They were all smiling when we came in and all of them were decent. I will always go back at this place!

Yelp
Let me start by saying the struggle for street parking is worth it for this place. As a Filipino, I can say stepping into the restaurant made me feel at home--the table decor bamboo plants, hospitality of the servers, Filipino channel playing on the TV, and all. The only thing missing was Tito on the karaoke mic. We started with the Pork Lumpia of course. It was delicious and perfectly bite sized. My boyfriend got the House Specialty Combination, which included his choice of Chicken Inasal, Garlic Rice, and a bowl of Batchoy. I ordered the Tocino, Garlic Rice, and 2 Eggs as part of the "Breakfast Served All Day" offering. The portions were generous and aligns with the price in my opinion. Bacolod Chicken House is the real deal. It is the most authentic Filipino food I've tried in the area--no modern spin to try to appeal to a wider audience. It is well worth the visit!

Yelp
Ive been coming here every once in a while with my family. Once I'm inside, it immediately feels like home. Yellow walls, native decor and the TV blasting TFC. The presentation outside could be improved to make it more inviting! My experience will obviously be different from others because I am filipino and so my family knows how to order and what to expect. We all ordered mini batchoy (filipino pork noodle soup) and chicharron bulaklak (chicken skin) for starters. I like their batchoy because its not too salty and the broth doesn't look fattening. My mom, stepdad and me ordered the chicken inasal with garlic rice and my grandma got the grilled bangus (fish). My mom said her chicken was dry but mine was fine! The flavor of the chicken is very faint and could be marinated more. For dessert, halo halo is always a must! The owner was very kind to us and gave me, my mom and step dad an extra piece of chicken! I will always come back here because its the closest I feel to being home

Yelp
6/27/21 COVID UPDATE Still requiring masks for entry. No limits on capacity. I tried the Halo-Halo (literally means "Mix-Mix" because it contains around 7-9 different sweets in there such as shaved ice on top, coconut strips 3 inches long, cubed yams/flan/and something else orange softer than yams, small red beans, small clear lychee, evaporated milk, cubed green & red jellies, red fruit preserve/jams, topped ube purple ice cream and frosted flakes) here which is $7 each. They were not as sweet as I thought it would be which is a good thing! I only don't think the to-go container since it's in a drinking plastic container which makes it hard to eat the bottom ingredients. A bowl would be better! Overall enjoyed it, after I poured it in my glass bowl at home.

Ra D.

Yelp
Batchoy and chicken inasal was good. My friend got the batchoy and portion comes in big size.
google avatar

John D.

Yelp
I don't think I'll come back here ever. It was bad enough the inasal was dry and tough, but to see a huge fly go all over my table pretty much put the nail in the coffin. It's unknown where the fly came from. For all I know, it could've been darting around the dumpster in the back before making its way to the kitchen. It sickens me thinking about whether it touched my food before or during the preparation phase. No surprise here if the health inspector paid an visit and wrote many a demerit.

Yelp
Second time coming to Bacolod's. The first time we went, we waited nearly an hour for someone to take our order. I ordered the adobo and it was pretty fire honestly and my partner ordered the sinigang. She said the sinigang was not good at all. It tasted like just pork and not so much the fusion of all the veggies/stew. Most recently we decided to come back because the adobo was actually pretty good the first time. My partner and I both ordered the pork adobo and one order of the sizzling sisig. Now we have an experience with this place and it honestly only affirmed that this place isn't one bit attentive to the service aspect of running a restaurant. Why does it take 35 minutes for the food to come out? Why did my water take up until we left to be refilled? Why did a mobile order take 20 minutes longer than it should when the person whose picking up is already there? I felt bad for the dude, he sat there waiting the whole time we waited for our food. And then the door was left open and it was freezing inside. Not one staff member went to close it, it took a customer to go and shut it. Then the food came, it was.. Awful. I won't even sugar coat it. In hindsight we probably shouldn't of eaten it but we were so hungry and the expectation of the adobo was pretty good from last time. This time it was soaked in oil. You could probably fry an egg on my plate with all the leftover oil. The sisig was a different level too. It was all fat, straight fat. Oiled up and buttered to disgrace. They probably used all the trimmings of the leftover pork to serve it to us. It came out looking good but after a few bites in you could feel your stomach screaming abuse. Overall the place needs to have a bit more self awareness. Won't be coming back again.

Yelp
Came tonight with a group of 13 and had an absolute blast. I was one of the last in my group to arrive so when i came and saw the boodle fight I was very shocked. There was a huge abundance of tasty fish, chicken, pork, eggs, fruits and vegetables. It was a food experience that I had not yet experienced in Chicago. I wanted to give a shoutout to our host, whose name I did not get. Not only did he make us feel very welcomed and cared for, but you could tell that he loved his job just by how interactive and energetic he was. The guy even turned on karaoke for us and danced to the songs.
google avatar

Michele S.

Yelp
I came here with a large group of 16 people for my friends birthday dinner. I've never been to a boodle fight which is basically a feast where they lay banana leaves and are just piling an array of different food in front of you that you will end up eating with your hands. This is something that you have to call ahead of time to order and pay a deposit for. It was an interesting experience seeing them assemble and arrange the table which they started doing once most of the party arrived. It is definitely worth watching as they continually come out with trays of different food from various seafood like shrimp, mussels, fish to rice to sausage to vegetables. I lost count of all they assembled. I think it was a lot of fun to eat and some of the items was a bit salty for my taste but everyone in my group loved it all. I liked that they gave you a container to take leftovers at the end. It didn't look like much starting off but it is an insane mountain of food that didn't look like it diminished after eating it. Some of us ordered the halo halo which was okay, I wish there was a little more shaved ice but tasted good. They ended up turning on the karaoke for us which I hope we were not too loud for the other patrons there but it was a fun spot for groups and worth a try if you haven't tried it before.

Nicole M.

Yelp
Great food, we always come to this place every time we visit Chicago. If you're craving for inasal chicken and bacolod's famous batchoy, this is the place for you. We went here during weekday and they only have one server so the service was a bit slow.

Yelp
As a Pinoy of 2 Filipino parents, I have missed quality, homemade filipino food since moving to Chicago 2 years ago. Located on a quieter section of Lincoln Ave in Lincolnwood, this place doesn't receive much attention. It's a small place that is peculiarly dressed in NOLA decor and colors had me (emoji) but I came here for the food, right!? It was lunch so I ordered Pork Lumpia for $6 and...*drumroll please* you get 25 PCS of it! I was definitely saying "get in my belly" when I saw them served on my table with that oh good sweet and sour sauce. The lumpia aren't really something out of the ordinary, but still good. Entrees were about average around $11 or so. I had the Krispy Papa with Garlic Rice- what else!? All filipinos know the key to a happy life is deliciously fried pork meat and skin with soy sauce/vinegar/onions with a hefty scoop of white rice! It was a generous portion with the price. Not pictured is an order of pork adobo with pickled vegetables and garlic rice. Adobo being a staple of filipino food, it was rather average. The pickled vegetables didn't really combine well with the meat. Also, the meat had more than enough fat pieces on it. Nothing spectacular, but still tasty enough. To complete the filipino experience, I had to order Halo-Halo! For a good price, you get a BIG BOWL of the dessert. My weakness is Ube ice cream, and I wish they added another scoop..but it is not a huge concern. 7/10
google avatar

Julie T.

Yelp
Scrolling through the ratings and really wondering why they have 4-5 stars when it barely should even deserve a 2 star. Only reason why is because of the dessert: Halo Halo. We never ever usually eat here but was willing to give it a chance because we really want halo halo afterwards and most definitely only sticking to getting halo halo ONLY! There food was not impressive at all! Honestly felt like the portion size was not worth the amount we were paying. Even with that, the food wasn't even all that great. Everything just just plain dry. I forewarn diners this is not a place to dine in. Even the service was slacking. We literally just arrived and already the waitress was hovering over us ready to take our order when we didn't even get the chance to even glance and the menu. So it was just a little awkward having someone glare at us when we hardly even have the chance to familiarize ourselves with the items on the menu. And when we finally had the chance to decide, the waitress to be found... Even when we finish our meal, I was so ready to walk up to the front to pay instead of waiting so long for our waitress to come back to check on us. Don't think I would ever come back to dine in ever unless it's for the halo halo.

Yelp
Guys, my dear god. When I say this might be the best food I've ever had I never doubt it. I went with my Filipino friends all of us knowing that I have never tried any sort of authentic cuisine other than parties they have at their house. This food is STUPID, STUPID good. Lennon Kawali may be the most heavenly savory food i've ever tasted. But only after the Sizzling Sisig. The Sizzling Sisig is a must order. The sound and the look and the smell makes ut genuinely seriously special. BEEF KALDERETA, MY GOD ITS THE THING OF DREAMS. AND THE SINIGANG. I don't know what else to say guys. I was the most uncultured person with Filipino cuisines going into this experience, and now I think this is the best most memorable food i've tasted in my life. nothing was bad. the environment is special, not because it's expensive or glamorous. the workers know the food. the tables and dining area will feel cheap. but the food is what you go for, and it does not disappoint in any way. i am fiending to go back, but am afraid because my friends spoke tagalog for me when we went. i need to taste this food again. incredible.

Yelp
Boodle boodle dining is a fun concept. We were a group of 6. We came during lunchtime and made a reservation. When we arrived the place was pretty much empty and they gave us their full attention. Staff was friendly and accommodating. The food arrived hot, their was so much food. I have food allergies so I really wasn't able to enjoy the full dining experience but our group was happy. It was nice that they call to confirm and discussed food allergies. My family really enjoyed the pork, sausage, egg rolls, egg plant and fried fish. The place was pretty clean and not as cluttered and dark as some Filipino restaurants. The TV was on of course, fairly loud but not annoying. This place has so much more potential, would be nice if they build on it, redo the place and make it more aesthetic to the eye...

Yelp
It wasn't busy when we went for an early Friday dinner a few weeks ago. Despite that, service was a bit slow and our server was pretty quiet and not really engaging. She didn't really check on us during dinner, however the manager did and was more friendly and talkative. He even got our toddler some marshmallows. For dinner, we tried the Batchoy which was way too salty. We split the Mini Krispy Pata with Garlic Rice and an Inasal. I'm glad the pata was already chopped up and a smaller portion than normal crispy pata dinners that come with a huge knife to saw off the meat yourself. The chicken was flavorful. The rice was on the dryer side and the garlic was just a topping and not mixed into the rice. The highlight of dinner was the Halo-Halo, which was one of the biggest ones I've seen in Chicago. The presentation is pretty so you can take a quick photo before dumping it into a larger bowl to mix, aka halo-halo, all the ingredients together. I prefer eating it this way than in a tall glass where you have to use a long spoon to scoop up a bunch of layers as you pull the spoon up. Food presentation was okay - I appreciate the entrees served on acacia plates that remind me of Manila. The Halo-Halo was pretty, but came in a chipped bowl (see photo). There were a few mannequins near the front window which looked creepy and scared baby girl. They alone may prevent us from coming back any time soon.

Yelp
My ex-girlfriend (who I originally thought was an amazing woman but she turned out to be a cruel, soul-less, baggage-schlepping trainwreck) is originally from Manila and was teaching me a lot about her culture and I embrace every bit of it. As a special surprise one night she took me here for dinner. She knew I was ready for more Philippine culture, ready to step deeper into it...but this was like diving in head first! I think she was as relieved to see me loving this so much as I was so grateful for her taking me here! What a great night!!! As soon as we stepped inside Bacolod Chicken Haus, I know we were not in a typical Chicago restaurant serving food from another country. I definitely felt like I was in the Philippines...even though I've not yet been there. When we arrived, I was the only non-Filipino but I felt very welcomed by everyone. Even while she was speaking only in Tagalog -- and it seemed like everyone knew each other already, they were explaining things to me in English and I think even speaking a little bit in Tagalog to me thinking that I understood (probably because I replied using the two words I know and because I was trying hard to pronounce the words in the menu correctly). That made me feel really good. Everyone was so very friendly and family-like, and service was very attentive. We had lumpia (eggrolls) for starters. They were more freshly made than typical lumpia...but like typical lumpia they were a bit greasy. Luni ordered a fish sinigang for us -- a fish stew with different vegetables (onion, carrot, leek, etc.) and tamarind, and I think perhaps some lime flavor to it. It was absolutely delicious, out of this world. I have never had anything like it and this was such a blessing to experience. She was very excited that her man embraced and really enjoyed traditional Filipino food. Honestly, I don't believe you need to be that daring to try this though, just open-minded. We had pancit, rice noodles, of one style or another. Again, delish. We had chicken inasal, too, and it was flavorful, moist, and definitely just-cooked for us. Delish, unique. I was so enamored by the whole place and all of the other families eating dinner, with little kids running around, people laughing and talking and exotic, beautiful scents in the air. I was overwhelmed in the best way. One of the most interesting things of the evening was the staff setting an incredibly long table of Boodle Boodle -- a massive, colorful, textured, fascinating, intriguing setup of all different kinds of food laid actually out on the table in a beautiful display meant for everyone just to dig in and enjoy. You cannot imagine what this is until you see it! This is meant for large groups of people and the party which sat down was probably about 15 people. Within the offerings of the boodle boodle, there was definitely more than something for everybody no matter what their tastes were for the evening. I was so privileged and grateful that Luni (may she rot in Hell) took me to Bacolod Chicken Haus for dinner and I really appreciated everything about it. The restaurant gets 5 stars for the ambience, service and food! I will go back to spite her, it was that good!

Yelp
This place has a 3.5 star rating on Yelp and it's a perfect representation of what to expect. I was excited to try this place since Bacolod-style chicken (Inasal) is one of my favorite things. The chicken was alright...it tasted fine, but nothing close to what you'd expect from the Visayan region of the Philippines where this dish is from. Soup arrived with my meal, but the soup arrived about 2 minutes before my main dish arrived so it wasn't the best in terms of timing. Overall, this place was okay, but not worth going back to unless I was in the area. If I were to go back, I'd try a different dish. The service was alright.

Yelp
If I could, I would give this place a solid 3.5. This is a decent sized place that looks very clean and inviting. My friend and I went to dinner here and came with our appetites in hand. I am not sure were ready for us. We arrived and were seated immediately. A very open restaurant with plenty of seating. We ordered the lumpia shanghai, inihaw na Baboy (grilled marinated pork), Pork Belly Sisig, Caldereta (beef stew), and garlic fried rice. The lumpia was good and high suggest anyone to order that. The Inihaw na Baboy was a probably by favorite thing. It was served on a wooden board on a banana leaf with garlic fried rice and some julienned pickled dicon radishes. The pork belly sisig was alright but it needed a little spice and with a little more crisp on it. Sizzling sisig is a Filipino street food and would love for them to master that because it was almost there for me, almost. The Caldereta was a bit bland and the meat was still a bit on the tough side for me. Seeing that caldereta is a stew the meat should be fork tender. It lacked that sweet and developed flavor that I am used to. The Garlic fried rice was the perfect pairing to all my dishes. The service was OK but nothing out of the ordinary spectacular. I would have loved to see our waitress be more enthusiastic and make some suggestions. So for a casual night out and if you are nearby, I would give this place a shot.

Yelp
I went here with a group of 7 for dinner. We ordered the boodle fight which was $25/person. If you check-in on Yelp, you get 5% off. The Boodle Fight included: inihaw na pusit, deep fried pampano, chicken inasal, inihaw na baboy, longganisa tortang talong, baked tahong or crabs (availability), tuyo, manga at bagoong, eggrolls, steamed veggies, fruit basket, fountain drinks or tea, unlimited rice to eat and turon for dessert. I thought the food was delicious and a great dining experience. I loved how the food was beautifully presented on the table. It's a good deal since you can take your leftovers home. The turon with chocolate was a standout for me. It was piping hot and a decadent way to end our meal. Definitely a fun time eating a lot of delicious Filipino food.

Yelp
So happy to find the best batchoy here! Reminds me of La Paz Batchoy from Iloilo! I also love their pork sisig, so tasty and not oily! Excellent customer service.

Yelp
Coming from Tinley Park, it was definitely worth it. My family loves coming here because there aren't a lot of Filipino restaurants in our area. The staff was friendly and can speak Tagalog which makes it easier on my parents. In my opinion (and this is completely biased), Filipino food is the best food. Let me elaborate: their crispy pata was indeed crispy. The sauce just pairs so well with the meat, like a match made in Heaven. In addition, the rice had fried garlic which is a step above plain white rice. Everything together, it was such a delight. Onto dessert, halo-halo had a lottt of toppings which is how it is supposed to be! They gave us a pretty big amount of ube ice cream on top and everything together was delicious. Definitely great for hot summer days! With that said, my family and I will definitely be coming back here! Thank you, Bacolod Chicken Haus!

Yelp
The boodle fight was prepared nicely.. The turon was not bad. Their soup (La paz batchoy) is good and tasty but I prefer to eat the small bowl rather than the large. Parking-wise it's street parking along Lincoln avenue. This restaurant is just walking distance from my home.. I rarely go here..

Yelp
The food here has gone from mediocre to pretty bad. The Sinigang was not even sour, the chicken inasal was dry and tasteless and the pinakbet tasted strange. My wife (who is Filipino) was quite upset and disappointed. From on, it is Tita Mia for us even though it is a 30 minute drive from us and BcH is much closer. The longer drive is worth it because the food at BCH has become almost inedible.

Yelp
Such a wonderful experience! Had a reservation on a Sunday night for a family of 12. We reserved for the Boodle Dining. It was such a unique experience. They call it a Boodle Fight because they put all the food on the table (over banana leaves) and everyone "fights" for their portion of food on the table. But dont worry about not having enough food, because everything is plentiful and so much variety. We also added some Halo Halo for dessert, and it was so heavenly good! Being a Filipino family, we were so happy with the quality of food, the flavor and how everything was prepared. We just had a great time and the staff was completely accommodating and very friendly (considering we are the typical loud and outgoing family). Overall, just a fantastic night. My recommendation is definitely go try this unique experience with your close friends and family. Its a great way to try a variety of Filipino flavors. Quick note: they are strongly against using utensils for eating. For the complete experience, you have to eat with your hands (the Filipino way)!

Yelp
My wife is from Bacolod. This is the closes she can get to the real Bacolod food. Nice place. Nice ambiance. A little pricey but otherwise decent food and place.

Yelp
Went here with my mom. Ordered the kare kare, chicken, egg rolls, and fried fish. Every thing was tasty. Owner seemed nice and our waitress was friendly. My favorite part was def the halo halo, it is soooo good!

Yelp
Great regional dishes that might not be on other Filipino restaurant menus in the area. We went with the house special combo (choice of marinated grilled chicken and the mini batchoy soup). Also got the grilled bangus with mango salsa and the eggplant omelette. For starters we went with the small order of shanghai lumpia. Good flavors, generous portions for a good price. Since we decided to clean our plates (those dishes are best eaten freshly cooked) we didn't get a chance to try their halo-halo. Next time! Decor, plates, and TFC on the tele all are nice touches in combination. Lots of room, convenient parking.

Yelp
Bacolod Chicken Haus' food was pretty good, but they are still working out the kinks with the service and their inventory. We had to constantly ask for plates, silverware, napkins, serving spoons, water, etc. When we asked for bagoong and ketchup, they delivered it to someone on the other end of the table instead of to the one who asked for it. We went on Easter Monday, and they were sold out of chicken legs, adobo and the coconut shells for the halo-halo. We had two orders of pancit palabok. One order was tasty, but the other did not have enough sauce. JP (owner?) kindly sent out more palabok sauce. They also sent out more milk for the halo-halo, since we could not see any. I am glad they do not use styrofoam for their to go containers, but they still need to offer a plastic bag when there are multiple take home boxes. Like the previous reviewer, we too will give them some time to get settled and hope the service improves. The food was nicely plated and all of our entrees were piping hot. Everyone was very friendly and accommodating, but could use a bit more experience and common sense.

Yelp
A good friend of mine from the Philippines brought me and a few friends here for dinner, and I have officially had some of the tastiest chicken I've ever eaten! As I've never been to the Philippines, I had no idea what i was missing until now... my goodness - go get some Bacolod Chicken here as soon as you can! YUM. Here's what to expect if you, like me, are among the uninitiated: First, the place is BYOB. So don't forget to bring libations! As it was for a celebration with a larger group of friends, reservations were made ahead of time for the "Boodle Fight" - a table covered in banana leaves that has a circle of white sticky rice topped with a wide variety of pork, fish, cooked eggs, veggies, mussels, shrimp, fruit, and Bacolod chicken. (see the photos for more info) It's all finger food, so be sure to wash up before you start, and you'll definitely use the napkins and the bowl for the things you can't consume. I was so full by the time we finished I only just barely had enough room for the Chocolate Toron, (think bananas foster in a chocolate egg roll with caramel sauce on top), so be sure to leave a little bit of room at the end for a few more bites! The owner was very kind and answered my questions about the food and the establishment, and I learned that his marinade for the chicken comes all the way from the Philippines as it is not possible to make it here in the states due to the nature of the citrus fruit acidity. Because it's a rather time consuming and expensive process to produce, I appreciated the chicken that much more. He also explained the tradition of the meal setting, which made the experience much more memorable. I'd go back, as the grilled chicken is just that good! Cheers!

Yelp
Nice airy space, big windows with lots of light, Iloilo and Bacolod festival decor, nice silverware and tiled tables, a big and clean mens' CR (restroom) - what a surprise. Since I'm OCD about cleanliness, these attributes all deserve 4 stars. The food was also served authentically on banana leaves and wooden plates. The place was crowded at lunch time in the middle of the week. My asawa had the paa (a rather small chicken leg and thigh) inasal special with the mini batchoy (she's from Iloilo so she has credible taste buds) and I had the pecho with garlic rice (a big chicken breast serving). The food, ambiance and decor were all fine, I believe they should increase the size of their servings to increase the value of the meal.

Yelp
BEST TURON EVER! Not only was there some chocolate goodness fried in with the banana, but the outside was also topped with caramel sauce. Um...hello? Amazing. (Turon is basically a deep fried banana wrapped in an eggroll/lumpia wrapper.) My parents took it upon themselves to order for the family, so they didn't choose to order any chicken. (This is not surprising if you know my parents.) However, my niece ordered a piece of chicken and really enjoyed it (namely, the skin). The kare-kare and inihaw na baboy were delicous...definitely the favorite items of the meal. The lumpia was also good, especially if you live in the area and are looking for a quick lumpia fix! Service was great, too! I was pleasantly surprised and happy to see that our waitress was SUPER respectful of my parents (the typical treat your elders with respect treatment, ya know?). The restaurant is spacious, clean, airy and bright (which is something that some other Filipino restaurants definitely lack). It was pretty crowded on a Saturday night, so that was nice to see! I am definitely planning on making a return trip! I'm already admittedly dreaming of that turon. Yum!

Yelp
The service is great, the ladies were attentive to our table. As far as the food, I highly recommend the batchoy soup. Portion is very big for a $10 servings. However, their inasal chicken was a bit sour for my liking compare the authentic inasal chicken and the fried rice is a bit dry. Otherwise, I will definitely come back to this place again.

Yelp
Barcolod is a pretty big space that can accommodate a lot of people which is nice. We came on Easter Sunday and was able to get seated right away around 2pm. My family ordered the pusit, mini crispy pata, batchoy, and halo halo. The food was cooked very well and it didn't take too long for the food to cook. They do warn you that the pusit does take 25-30 mins to cook. The Pusit is cooked on a grill which I loved. It does not come with rice though. I do wish that they've a bigger option for crispy pata. The Mini you can share with 2 people the most. The crispy pata was very crispy and cooked perfectly. The batchoy was delicious and I would order again. The halo halo was a good size for 3 people. They do give you a bigger bowl to mix everything together and then distribute in smaller bowls. The prices aren't bad either at this place. Reasonable pricing. The only concern was the service. It seems like the waitresses/waiters don't have a designated section to take orders. We would always need to flag down any available waitress to order juice, food, more napkins, etc. They also don't really check up that often so be sure to get everything you want in one order.

Yelp
So we went here for my aunt's birthday. My parents, her closest friends... you know how Filipinos roll. Deep, loud and hungry. I was told we were going to do a boodle boodle or kamayan... basically eat with your hands with the food spread on banana leaves on a table. Fine. This isn't foreign to me. It's been a while since I've done this...but ok. I'm game. I'm not gonna lie to you. I really didn't think the food was gonna be as good as it was. Let me explain. When you grow up in a Filipino household that cooks, chances are high that you think your parents or whoever cooked in the house made the best Filipino food. And really others were just ok. Even at restaurants too (unless its breakfast, seems that every Filipino has mastered breakfast). The spread at Bacolod was pretty good. I think I ate all the pusit, tuyo, longanisa and lumpia shanghai from everyone. No joke I devoured any lumpia I saw in a pile. Plus the experience was fun. I've done it before, so I knew what to expect. Just never did it stateside before. Also, the owner has a pretty cool story immigrant story on how they got here to the US. Before they worked as nurses in various countries like the UK and the Middle East I believe (UK for sure he mentioned). But it was one of their dreams to just open a restaurant. So they did. And this is now their chapter here in Chicago. Pretty cool.

Yelp
This place is a rip off, I highly recommend Tita Mia's in Niles to get the best filipino food experience and bang for your buck! Service is terrible, they literally will make you wait because they handle delivery and take out calls since there are not much dine inns. Portions are small, food is mediocre, try other place, do not go to this place!

Yelp
We've been to this spot many times already. It's bit of a drive, but it's worth the trouble. Fast service and their staffs are attentive. We usually order the batchoy and Pecho Pak - both are amazing. And of course their famous halo halo is a must!

Yelp
Had lunch here for my brothers birthday and did the boodle fight, and it was soooo delicious! They made sure everyone was there before they started setting up the food. JP even took a picture of our group of 20 before we started. Our mouths were salivating when the food was being prepared. The food was like normal Filipino food but with a large variety. There was more than enough for $25 per person. JP was great, he made sure we had everything we needed at all times. He talked about the food and answered any questions we had. He even took offered to carry my niece while my sister was eating, which was really nice! I would definitely come back and recommend to friends! Thanks JP for the deliciousness and the great service!
