I have been to Bad As's Sandwiches a number of times and found it consistently excellent. So, when I heard about the burger joint the last time I was in, I had to give it a try.
They started out on the right foot for me. I got stuck in traffic and arrived just 10 minutes before they were to close for their daily hour break between lunch (12-4) and dinner (5-10). I fully expected them to tell me to come back at 5, but the thought was never even mentioned. The guy at the counter helped this first timer make a selection and soon I was the only customer in the place. I was never rushed at any point.
The food was fantastic! It lived up to the billing. Beef tallow fries were amazing, plain or dipped in the onion soup au jus or dipped in the house made ketchup. EVERYTHING is house made. The buns, the pickles, the sauces - you name it. And it shows. I got The Eddy burger - one patty was more than enough for me. Eddy - smoked cheddar, bacon, arugula, crispy onions, house made pickles, black garlic mayo. I generally never have mayo on a burger, but this complemnted the rest of the ingredients perfectly.
As I was preparing to leave, I had a nice chat with the owner/chef. Nice guy. Told me all about the place and the place he had in the near future to add more menu items (no spoilers from me).
Great food. Cool spot!
