Where to Find a Next-Level Weekend Brunch in Portland Beyond Basic Bacon and Eggs

"On nice days, sun floods the saloon-vibed Bad Habit Room on North Michigan, where a handful of neighborhood locals enjoy quiet brunches of croque madame or eggs blackstone, a variation of eggs Benedict with bacon and tomato-truffle jam. Start with a gargantuan mimosa, bubbling with cava, followed by a platter of super buttery biscuits and a rich pork belly gravy abundant with sage. Brunch runs from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays." - Brooke Jackson-Glidden, Jenni Moore

Pre-covid, Bad habit room was one of our favorite places for brunch. They used to have these amazing scratch made pop tarts. We went back after their first reopening and it was alright. Decided to give it one more shot after the second reopening, and we’re unfortunately pretty disappointed. On the bright side, service was great, and the drinks were really tasty. The food on the other hand really left something to be desired. We got the chicken & waffles, and the corned beef hash. The chicken was super Smokey, to the point of it overpowering everything, and it was poorly fried and just really lacking. It also came with only three of the four pieces of a waffle which was odd. The corned beef hash really missed the mark too. The over-easy eggs were over cooked, the potatoes and carrots were undercooked, and the whole dish was severely under seasoned. It desperately needed salt. The biscuit looked like it had sat out for hours. Overall it was not a terrible experience, we’re just bummed and will likely not go back again.

We held our annual holiday gathering at Bad Habit Room and it was one of our best years to date. The food was timely and delicious, the staff was helpful and accomodating, and the setting was absolutely perfect for our intimate gathering. We really appreciated the team at Bad Habit Room through every stage of the process and hope to utilize the space again when the need arises.

Today was my first time eating at the Bad Habit Room. We have a couple of friends that come eat here every Sunday and always tell us how great it is and how we need to check it out, so we finally took them up on it. If there's one reason to try this place it would be the special-made Pop Tarts. The flavors change regularly and today's flavor was lemon curd, and it was delicious. The crust was very fine quality and an integral part of the experience. It was my favorite thing I tried. I ordered the Korean Breakfast, which came with Korean BBQ pork, sticky rice, kimchi and poached eggs, although I requested scrambled because its the only I eat them. It was very good. My friends ordered different items which I did not try, but they looked beautiful. I've already mentioned that they adore this place, so I trust they tasted just as great as they looked. Brunch is only available on weekends from 9am to 2pm. I'm not sure what they do on the other days, but I think it's an event space.

Google
Moody environment with good food and drinks. Pro tip: close the door between spaces or dim the light in-between. It's so bright it kills the mood of the room and constantly draws your eyes that way

Google
Friendly and professional service, plus delicious food set in a relaxing space made for an excellent brunch experience. The smoked trout hash was really tasty!😋 I got it based on reading some reviews so thank you reviewers! House made Pop Tarts too... amazing!!! Great Bloody Mary!

Google
Honestly I only have good things to say about this place. The food is amazing, the service is incredible and it just have a chill vibe that makes you really enjoy your brunch. I recommend the smoked trout hash, it is really tasty and they always have fresh homemade pop tarts to die for if you want to indulge a bit.

Google
I booked a holiday party at Bad Habit Room and everyone had a fantastic time. The manager, Randi, worked with me over a period of several months ahead of the party making sure everything was as we needed it to be. My teams feedback from the event was that the food was great, and everyone loved playing pinball! They also appreciated the extra space of the outdoor area, so if you're hosting a larger crowd, be sure to book that area as well.

Google
Came here fo Sunday brunch and loved it! We both got the Korean breakfast. Their cocktail selection is really good as well! Reasonably priced menu. I would suggest maybe coming early as it was kind of packed when we came around 11:00. Highly recommended!

Yelp
Came here to try out their weekend brunch. They did not disappoint. The service was top-notch. All the servers were attentative and very welcoming. I opted to sit outside to enjoy my coffee on such a beautiful Spring day. I ended up ordering the Egg Blackstone, which is a Benedict style plate with bacon hollandaise sauce, tomato jams, and the eggs on top. This plate did not disappoint. That tomato jam was delicious. I would come back for brunch for sure.

Yelp
I'll start by saying the service was lovely. If you live nearby it's fine for when you're in a pinch for breakfast, but I wouldn't reccomended it. There wasn't an ounce of seasoning or even salt on the breakfast potatoes. That's the easiest part of breakfast! The rest was really underwhelming.

Yelp
I do want to give credit first where due in this review. The servers helping us were great and I so appreciate how friendly they were - quick to refill coffee, check on stuff, etc. The drinks were excellent - we got the breakfast mules. The actual restaurant itself is really nice and I love the antique aspect of it. However, the food is where I was beyond disappointed here. I came here absolutely hyperfocused on getting some waffles as I had been craving them. I ordered the regular egg breakfast w/fruit and an order of waffles. For $14 on the waffles, I was expecting several, or one big belgian style waffle. Instead, I was served one waffle quartered and I swear they were the hardest waffles I've ever had in my entire life, I didn't even finish them. There was supposed to be whipped butter on the side but I am almost certain it was just ghee (?) because it was flavorless and shared the same appearance/texture. If the waffles were around $5, I wouldn't think much of it. But $14? Woah. Otherwise, my husband loved his food - he got the eggs blackstone and said it was really good. My egg breakfast was one scrambled egg, two pieces of bacon and a side of fruit (instead of a biscuit) and it was underwhelming. With a 20% tip, we were at $80 for two drinks and breakfast. Pretty nuts.

Yelp
For starters, our server was tip-top. She has very little to do with Bad Habit Room's subpar rating. Ok, now for the review. We arrive around 12p on 12/31/2022. It's very busy, that's fine, but we stood for several minutes before the server even acknowledged us. She could have easily greeted us and she'd be with us shortly. The place is not big at all. Another potential customer must've been experiencing the same thing because she was there when we got there. She came in and out twice, asked if we'd been spoken to and then said she was leaving. Once we did finally get acknowledged and sat, our service was solid. The Michelada was great. As for the food, Smoked Trout Hash and Corned Beef Hash, they tasted good, but there was an incredibly minimal amount of meat and a lot of potatoes. This was disappointing, especially because it wasn't exactly inexpensive. Also, the trout was quite salty, which I know can happen with smoked fish. Definitely not a great first experience. Not sure I'll try again because the menu didn't excite me...other than the hash which was a let down.

Yelp
Let me begin this 2 star review with the fact that this used to be my FAVORITE brunch spot in town. The service was perfect, every item on the small menu was delicious and the wait was almost never over 10 minutes. Things have changed since they reopened and not for the better.... The menu was scaled way back and they were still out of a bunch of things. At 12 on a Sunday though, I get it. My boyfriend got the Korean breakfast, something I have had many times before. It was supposed to be Bulgogi beef with some sort of greens, egg, kimchi and sticky rice. They used smoked pork with no Korean spices whatsoever, jasmine rice and no greens were served. I got the eggs Blackstone, which was supposed to have hollandaise sauce on it. There was what appeared to be a dollop of butter on top and so I asked for a side of hollandaise, since it was missing. The server returned with what is pictured below. Both me and my partner tried it and agreed that it was what appeared to be whipped cold butter and egg yolks and not a single hint of lemon. Which is a pretty critical step in the process of making hollandaise. When I told the server that this wasn't hollandaise, and that their chef needs to figure something out. He got a little sassy. I don't blame him for that. I'm usually not such a Karen. But when you're excited to share your favorite brunch spot with your partner and it's nothing like you described, it's embarrassing. I really hope that the owners consider hiring new kitchen staff, or at least teaching them how to properly make hollandaise sauce, and or not misrepresent the menu.

Yelp
Ambience is super chill. Definitely come here hungry as the pizza is legit and crispy thin crust. Cocktails were a hit. Highly recommend this place used to be open for just the brunch... Kentucky bramble, toddy, moon shoes hit the spot. It's a lovey spot for a date or meeting and hanging with friends at the bar. Bar tender was cool to chat with.

Yelp
Can't say enough good things about bad habit room! The food and cocktails are as delicious as they are creative. The servers are fun and kind. The energy is just right. Love the bad habit room!

Yelp
The Eggs Blackstone with the smoked trout was truly tasty, the scratch biscuit was yummy, the coffee was good, and the service was outstanding. I'll be bach!

Yelp
Just wasn't that great but wasn't horrible either. My chicken was burnt, but the pop tart was good . They serve McDonald's style hash browns and mine was cold.

Yelp
Lovey weekend brunch spot, friendly staff, big drinks and good food. Looking forward to our next visit.

Yelp
This is one of my favorite types of bars... great vibe, nice staff, delicious drinks, good music in the background, and in a chill neighborhood. If you like packed bars (I don't) this is not the place. Looking forward to the next visit!

Yelp
Delicious. Friendly service. I loved the smoked trout hash with root vegetables. My friends had the blackstone benedict which they loved. The cold brew drink was so good we had to have 2 but the 2nd one without the orange liquoer was much better. I'd be back.

Yelp
We hadn't eaten there for brunch in six months but the quality of the food has gone way down. My eggs black stone came to me cold so for the first time ever I sent my meal back. My husband was completely finished by the time my meal came. Instead of a nice green salad they served some awful slaw and when asked how my meal was I commented and the server said "we are getting lots of complaints " . Also the hollandaise sauce was orange and not tasty at all. They have a pop tart on the menu but that's not available due to not having a pastry chef. Although the restaurant is adorable and charming they need to step it up a bit. Very disappointing birthday brunch. I used to always recommend The Bad Habit room but can no longer.

Yelp
If you like getting ignored, this is the place. Yeah, it looked cute but I won't be back also I was never served so I'm not sure what the food tastes like

Yelp
love this place. thin crispy pizza with toppings out to the edges, ohio style. delicious sauce. recommending adding hot peppers to the pepperoni if you can handle the heat!

Yelp
My favorite breakfast destination in North Portland. Jumbo mimosas and a from-scratch Croque Madame to kick off your Saturday.

Yelp
Great service I order Korean breakfast I love the kimchi but the BULGOGI dint taste like bulgogi that was disappointed.

Yelp
Let me begin by praising the food experience and flavorful combination of ingredients. That is the main reason for the 3 Stars. I share the following based on our first experience there last week with the assumption that one or more of their service staff had called off last minute. We basically had the polar opposite see-saw of service. The two staff members there waivered between visible/verbal reservations and passing around a clipboatd 10 minutes after we "checked in." Moments later, two tables that had been previously earmarked by the first server had been usurped by two separate parties who were arrivals after us. We ordered beverages based on both of them asking and it took 15 minutes to get 2 coffees (brought 3 minutes apart) and two cocktails placed at the wrong table twice. Paper towels and water glasses and set-your-own-table silverware was incomplete. For $17 brunch plates, they could step up the settings. We had to ask for refills of water, coffee, butter, and I even got up at one point to get some half & half they kept forgetting to bring. It was frustrating because the two staff members seemed to have no concern or regard for how low a level service had reached. Gonna wait a couple months (and arrive before 10am,) before giving them a reset chance.

Yelp
Wow it's just soooo bad. I live walking distance away so I really want to like it. Have gone 4 times in the past two months. Since they reopened after closing during the pandemic it is so awful compared to what it used to be. I don't even know how a business operates in Portland cooking such awful food. The good: there's never a line so that and walking distance makes me choose it on Sunday & saturdays. The cocktails are all good. The croque madame is pretty good, the Benedict is 3/5 stars. The bad: I have tasted everything else on the menu (in four recent visits) and it is just rubbish. The pic is of the hash which has no oil, no seasoning, and tasted like cardboard. I have no idea how a cook could send this out. The rancheros were dry beans from a can, no sauce, just dry and awful. The biscuits and gravy was watery and not rich, the flavor was bland. The Korean breakfast is a joke. Saturday it took us 45 minutes to get water and menus. The server seemed to be high and was totally clueless. My partner didn't eat the pictured hash. The bartender asked if anything was wrong and we said the hash was tasteless and how bad our server was. She looked super bitchy and said "thanks for the feedback." Worst part of all: after ordering four drinks, two coffees and two meals, they charged us for the hash that my partner didn't eat and we gave the feedback that it was inedible. WHO DOES THAT??? Seriously? You take it off the bill when that happens. That was really the last straw for me. This place is just awful. I hope they get a new chef and new cooks. It's just so bad. Or I just hope it shuts down and makes way for something else in its space. It just doesn't belong in Portland, a breakfast city, as a brunch spot.

Yelp
We came for Sunday Brunch and ordered the Ham Eggs Benedict and the Croquet Madam. The food came out relatively quick but the service was half hearted and the food was nothing we'd write home about.

Yelp
From start to finish this was a horrible experience. Waited outside and told mixed messages by the two servers for times about seating as we saw open tables which was just weird and confusing. After being sat at those said tables, we were asked what we wanted for drinks but they hadn't provided a menu. The waitress took my friends drink order but didn't ask for mine which was baffling. We ordered our food and I got a coffee, I couldn't even ask for creamer and when my friend went up to ask for some they said they didn't have any. We had to get up to ask for coffee refills, our food took forever and we had to go find our own silverware after the food was served because they didn't even bring us those. What a nightmare! The music was so loud, the food was pretty gross, cold eggs and the veggie hash consisted of parsnips onions red bell pepper and russet potatoes but they were tasteless and slimy! Honestly, if the service wasn't already abysmal I would have sent it back and my friends Bloody Mary had big horseradish chunks in it and she couldn't make out the alcohol so she barely drank any. The biscuits were so small it looked like dried shriveled plastic food mimicking biscuits for a children's play kitchen. If you're going to brunch in Portland look elsewhere please! Worst brunch ever.

Yelp
Oh yeessss! I love the decor of this restaurant. It feels warm and cozy as if you were dining in a friend's living room. Wonderful lighting fixtures, wood giving your eye much to take in! My first visit was with a friend for brunch while we were headed out of Portland. Their homemade donuts were amazing! Definitely a must with each visit. I also loved the friendly helpful staff here. They accommodated my dietary needs with making a hash with no egg or meat. The neighborhood is warm and inviting. Lots of street parking.

Yelp
Had a great brunch with friends here while I was visiting town for a long weekend. We started with one of the homemade pop tarts (brown sugar and cinnamon) which was phenomenal and split the French toast because my friend said it was worth it...which is was. It was SO damn tasty. The inside was gooey and perfect with a crispy outside. What a dream. I got the Eggs Benedict with ham as my main brunch which was really good as well. The decor inside the restaurant was really cool. It seemed speakeasy themed...they had a lot of pretty cool historical items around the restaurant including some gorgeous old fire extinguishers. I'd love to come back at night for a drink.

Yelp
Garlic habanero Bloody Mary's were tasty and spicy. Huevos Rancheros bland with no dressing on salad which tasted unwashed and gritty. Hubby had the the frittata which was fluffy but had no distinguishable taste, i.e. no vegetables and barely there cheese which had burnt taste. Cook wiped his nose, went back to kitchen with unwashed hands, went out for cigarette break and still didn't wash hands before going back to the kitchen. Gross. Won't be back. Very disappointed after reading all the great reviews. Three stars for ambience and service only.

Yelp
One of the best breakfasts I've had in a loooong time. It's a very cool, brick building and I expected great things immediately after walking inside. It's a smaller space, we were there early and didn't have a wait, but I would image it can get crowded. We started off the with lemon pop tart, which was tasty but not mind blowing. I had the huevos rancheros and I know firmly believe that huevos rancheros should only ever be served on a piece of cornbread. So good. The side salad was fresh and lightly dressed, the perfect side to the huevos rancheros. I highly recommend getting a biscuit to have with their homemade jam. Next time I'm in Portland this place will be high on my list of places to go!

Jacki C.

Yelp
Bad Habit Room has great ambience, good service, and decent Bloody Mary and coffee. I didn't didn't really like the wide salt rim and the fact that they use that as an excuse to fill your glass only about 2/3 of the way up, but the Bloody Mary mix had a nice horseradish kick. I had the Croque Madame, which is a favorite of mine, but also a good way to judge the quality of the chef. I'm sorry to say it was a let-down. The egg was perfectly sunny-side up, but the bread was a thin-sliced sourdough with really big holes, and it totally ruined the dish for me. The lacy structure of the bread meant you couldn't get a bite of everything, because the sauce Mornay didn't really integrate well with it. The caramelized onions were a nice touch. Changing the bread to a denser, thicker slice would have been a vast improvement.

Yelp
So place is the talk of the town because of their homemade pop tarts. We headed here for breakfast and it was really unfortunate that before 11 am half the menu was crossed off as unavailable. Literally while we waited to be seated each of us had what we initially wanted crossed off the list. That being said, the food wasn't bad. Expect at least a half hour wait on Saturday morning. Inside is super cute kinda looks like the inside of a speakeasy. It's actually an event space with a bar and they're packers fans :) there's a cafe around the corner if you'd like a cup of coffee to kill time

Yelp
California Native here. Wow, what a great Breakfast / Brunch place. Hidden Gem FOR SURE. I really loved the food here and so did my girlfriends. We were on the hunt for a cute Brunch spot to take pictures and have really good food and this is the place for that exactly! I got the the two eggs (scrambled), greens, biscuit , potatoes and added bacon. Simple food , but yet my favorite meal during my stay in Portland. My girlfriends ordered the Korean Breakfast and Croquette Madame. Both delicious as well. Great for Cocktails& very decent prices. Welcoming , helpful and friendly staff. Will most definitely recommend this place in the future to others who explore Portland, Or. The only bad thing I can say is that they run out of food fast, so get here asap! I wanted to try their pop tart and French Brioche (French toast) but what does that tell you?! ITS DELICIOUS!

Heather S.

Yelp
The good: There really is a lot to like. We came on a Saturday around 1pm and there was no wait and no other patrons. The restaurant itself is pretty, clean, and well organized. All tables were clean and ready to go. They had fantastic music playing. Our server was very friendly and attentive. He seemed genuinely happy to be there . We also really enjoyed our cocktails. Pop tart was also a great treat! Bathroom is clean. The not-so-good: The menu and food are both disappointing. Very limited menu , almost impossible for someone with dietary restrictions or even basic preferences. No substitutions, and egg changes are $1.50. ALL eggs on the menu are poached . I am personally grossed out by runny eggs. This is a preference, not a need , of course , but it seems like a simple request . Ordering 'a la carte would have worked for me, but there is a charge for that, too. The only vegetarian entree without runny eggs is French toast , and that comes with bacon that can't be substituted. The food we got was nothing special. Nothing terrible, but no reason to come back. Had there been a wait, it would not have been worth it. The great staff , drinks, and adorable space would be great with better food.

Yelp
My friend and I brunched here on my last day in Portland. We looked at the waitress, and my friend said we were going to order the same thing. The waitress immediately knew we wanted the Eggs Blackstone. It's an eggs benedict with a bacon and truffle jam. My friend told me to put the jam on the table underneath the homemade biscuit... oh man it was delicious! I'm glad it came with a salad just so then I can say I also got something healthy. The place is intimate with a speakeasy feel. And the staff were super friendly, and we got our food fast. If someone asked me to describe Portland, I'd tell them to eat at the Bad Habit Room. The food and the ambiance was a good summary of my short time in Portland.

Nichole G.

Yelp
Arrived at 11:30 for brunch. After 20 minutes we got our drinks, then the server asked for our order, but it turned out they had neglected to tell us that they were out of several menu items, so we had to figure out what we wanted again. Figured it out within a matter of minutes, and the server came by to take our order about half an hour later. An hour after that, everyone in the restaurant (who ordered after us) had been served, and we were both two cocktails deep and had plans. We ended up just paying for our drinks after two hours of waiting for food because they were about to close and we figured it wasn't going to happen. I will say that everyone else's food looked good. Would've been nice to try it. I also regret leaving a nice tip. What was I thinking?

Yelp
Bad Habit is a decent place to enjoy good food, especially if you are folks who enjoy a quieter atmosphere. The aesthetic is lovely, and unique amongst the new era of intstagram-brunching in Portland. However, the service and food quality we enjoyed was below standard. Our meals did not have an essential sauce, and our waiter was eating their lunch at the bar the entire time we ate. As a result, we did not receive a check-in from our server, since by the time they had finished their meal, we had received ours and we had eaten what we could. When we asked the server about the lack of sauce, they said "we can't verify the lack of sauce since the chef who made the dish is not here anymore." It was a strange response, and we felt bad to complain, since everyone seemed so kind. However, we did not have sauce on our Eggs Benedict, and it seemed like the staff didn't care. Further, beware of ordering an iced coffee, as you'll be served a higher-priced cold brew. All said and done, we will probably return and enjoy some great food and a quick seating experience. Can't wait to enjoy a proper Benedict!

Yelp
A small, charming breakfast place with a lovely focused short menu. This town is full of good breakfasts you can wait in line for; these guys are a little way out of downtown and open only weekend mornings--but, damn. There are a few tables, and a small bar in back. They have a vintage thing going with the menu typefaces and the interior design choices. I think I counted at least four antique fire extinguishers in a place that seats maybe 35 or so. Exposed brick, some really cool-looking old refrigerator cases behind the bar. It's well-lit and airy, and all feels very welcoming. The staff are unbelievably sweet and charming, just bubbling with delightful small talk. We woulda stuck around and chatted all day. (To be clear, most of them are normal nice people--it was the hostess that really radiated bonhomie throughout our visit). We had coffees,m bloody marys, and hashess. They seem to be known for pastries and a couple other things, but we all marched straight to the hash section of the menu. Nobody ordered the smoked trout hash, which seems a mistake in retrospect, but we did try the corned beef and chorizo versions. Both amazing. Prices here are good, and any business connected to Saraveza will get at least a few visits from me. Can't wait to come back.

Yelp
Came here at 11am on a Sunday and it wasn't too busy. We put our names on the list for a party of 4 and were told it'd be about a 25-40 minute wait which is pretty reasonable for Portland. It ended up being just about 20 minutes though, so we were pleased. The breakfast menu looks fantastic, and I was super excited, but ultimately wasn't all that impressed with the food. My friends got the southern breakfast (house smoked pork, collard greens, poached eggs, biscuit) and the basic (two poached eggs, potatoes, biscuit, greens). Both felt that the meals were fine, with good sized portions, but nothing amazing. I got the eggs blackstone: poached eggs & bacon on a biscuit with tomato & truffle jam, topped with hollandaise, served with potatoes and greens. The tomato and truffle jam was alright; I could not taste any truffle. The hollandaise was very lemony. I didn't finish my mediocre biscuit or potatoes. My fiance got the huevos rancheros: cornbread, "pinto" beans (or so the menu says, but they definitely looked like black beans), house ranchero sauce, poached eggs, potatoes, and fresh greens. The beans and cornbread were again, just okay. The dish was notably lacking the avocado / guac mentioned on the menu. Also his beans had a small piece of plastic wire in them, like the kind that normally attached a pricetag to clothes. I fished it out when I was eating a bite. Of course, my fiance being the laid back person he is, he just flicked the plastic onto the ground so I couldn't show anything to the waitress, and we said nothing. Ultimately the meal was nothing to write home about, and I can see why there wasn't a long wait, but if you want breakfast basics at a fair price, this is what they're serving. Bathrooms were clean but very dimly lit. Service was friendly.

Yelp
This is now one of my new favorite brunch spots. It's a bit out of city center but worth it for it's a lesser wait than most popular Portland brunch spots. Also if you has to wait there's an amazing coffee shop, Red E, to lounge and get your morning cup while you wait. The space allows for group though it can get loud as the sound bounces. Love that they have a different pop tart choice each time I come! The Bloody Mary also looks seriously legit! Their egg Benedict's are cooked to perfection and the portions are just right.

Yelp
Call me BASIC (Actually what I ordered) but the limited veggie options led me to the usual potatoes and eggs. It was flavorful and delicious m. Despite being slow though, the service was sub par. A cute artisan brunch spot, hard to find in Portland

Yelp
Coffee Delicious, Food to die for! Everything about his place is perfection, from service to the yummy food and the homemade pop tart of the day was the cherry on the top :)

Yelp
Absolutely loved this place! We tried a couple downtown locations for brunch on Sunday and every one was a 40-60 min wait for a party of 2. We went out of downtown and found the Bad Habit Room. I'm in love with everything about this place! We were sat immediately as well! The room is small and intimate, but super trendy. I would love to go back for drinks or dinner to catch it in the evening. We had the homemade pop tart which blows any toaster strudel out of the water! It was delicious! We had the eggs benny and southern breakfast. All of the flavors were on point. We left incredibly satisfied! Skip the downtown rush and come here instead!

Yelp
Went here on a Sunday morning and it was crowded - I understand. But they made us wait in the sun for like 60-70 minutes. I believe the seating inside was limited. There were 6 of us on two tables joined sideways. Since there were two spaces left, we were made to sit with two complete strangers. Really? (I am not even trying to mention how they goofed up the order between that couple sitting besides us and our group - Hmm, awkward.) I don't think this place was as good as everyone claims. The menu was limited and cliched. Half the menu was sold out and unavailable - so everything that is claimed to be good about this place i.e. French toast, pop tarts etc. were all gone. PDX is an amazing hub of good food and I believe while Bad Habit's food wasn't bad, you would be better off eating at some other amaizng places.

Yelp
Great service, great food! I had Eggs Blackstone (delicious) my friend had the BLT and said it was great. The hollandaise sauce had just the right amount of lemon and the fresh greens were nicely lightly tossed in vinaigrette... perfection! Loved our waitress, great personality. Also appreciate that they leave a carafe of water @ each table Wish they had more outdoor seating. Oh... and the fresh blueberry compote/spread OMG!!! So good!!! I wish they sold that stuff by the jar *hint*hint* Can't wait to try some of the other things on the menu. And, hoping they have shrimp & grits as the special again soon. P.S. If you're brave, try the carrot habenero sauce... it burns in a good way, Mmmmmmm

Yelp
I wanted to find a fun new place to take some out of town visitors. I'm glad we decided to try the Bad Habit Room. Not only did it surpass my expectations, but my guests from Chicago were also very happy with everything. I will for sure be adding this place to my list of acceptable weekend brunch places. This place is a bit on the small side so it may be a bummer if it becomes super popular. I can just imagine the wait time would be awful. Luckily we didn't have to wait at all for a table even though we had a party of five. I'm not really a fan of sweets or I would have ordered the house made pop-tart. I ended up ordering the Spinach Benedict and damn was it good! They seem to serve poached eggs with almost every breakfast option, this being great news to me as I LOVE poached eggs! I often find myself judging an establishment based on how well they can poach an egg. It never fails to break my heart when I bust open a poached egg and nothing oozes out. I can proudly say my poached eggs at the Bad Habit Room did not disappoint; they were perfectly poached. The spinach, egg, and hollandaise sauce were on top of what they called "beer bread". I's never had beer bread before, but it was fantastic for soaking up delicious hollandaise and egg yolk. My meal also came with breakfast potatoes and greens. The greens being a side salad that was actually much tastier than I was expecting. I couldn't help but notice the selection of tasty brunch adult beverages. Next time I find myself here I will absolutely be sampling their bloody mary. This morning I just had a coffee as I was with the in-laws and it was not an alcoholic kind of brunch outing.

Yelp
My son and I were excited to have some son and dad time. In my hunt for a new breakfast spot for us I found the Bad Habit Room. When we arrived we were greeted immediately and seat after they were able to get the table cleaned. Once we were seated and had our drinks I asked what they were known for and they said the blackstone Benedict and the corned beef hash. Because when I saw the blackstone on the menu pictures I ordered that and initially ordered my son the original. After we placed our order ten minutes or so had passed and my son decided to change his mind and wanted the French toast. They told me no problem and changed it and my son was super happy. The blackstone was the best eggs Benedict rendition I have ever had. The salad that comes with it has an amazing champagne vinaigrette. I was blown away with both of them. The potatoes weren't anything special hence the 4 stars. My sons brioche French toast was awesome and the bacon was ridiculous. We will back for sure. Oh btw they have a carrot habernero hot sauce that was perfectly balanced and amazing.

Yelp
Went here on a Saturday around 12:30 so the brunch rush wasn't too bad (and apparently this place doesn't get hit with a 2 hour Portland brunch) I love the fact that the mondo mimosa is served in a PBR goblet! The eggs Benedict (Blackstone) was pretty good, not my favorite in Portland but definitely tasty.

Yelp
We are lucky cause our Airbnb is really close so we walked here and since we knew it was a popular spot we got here a little after opening. It looks and feels like a swanky speak-easy. If it want you can rent it as a venue too. We sat at the bar and enjoyed conversation with the bartenders. I had a bloody Mary to start my morning, but if I wouldn't have stuffed myself with the yummy food then I would have had one of their giant mimosas. It was a nice spicy and decorated well with celery, olive, okra and something else (check my pic). We began with a pop tart. It was flaky and warm. It had a good amount of icing, but I can always use more. Next up are our main courses. We doubled up on poached eggs as they are our fav way to eat eggs. We had the spinach which is two eggs, spinach, Hollandaise sauce with a lovely salad and yummy crispy potatoes. The fav was the house smoked trout, root vegetables, sweet onions and potatoes again, but a delicious biscuit. They have jam to smother on it.

Yelp
Came in with a friend spontaneously and it was such a pleasant surprise. The hot sauce was so good who would of thought to put carrot and habanero together. My potatoes were cooked to perfect crisp! Costumer service was very friendly!

Yelp
Love love loved the place and the biscuit was awesome. The menu was average but the food was good. I'd come back if the dishes were a little more creative. The poptart looked delicious but a little over priced.

Yelp
I booked the Bad Habit Room for my 50th birthday dinner. Sabrina and her staff went above and beyond to create the perfect evening, complete with delicious food, drinks, and ambience. I could not have been more pleased with the attention to detail that Sabrina and her staff put in to make the night flow seamlessly. It was simply magical. -Regina Weaver

Yelp
I did such a piss poor job with my previous review. But that's cause I was still salivating from all the wonderful memories I had from my corned beef benedict I had from here after my trip back home. Well I need to make up for it. Fortunately, I got my wish and that was to return here for my recent visit to Portland. This was one of the two have to have, just have to come back to restaurants. I absolutely fell in love with it last year and this time around it was just as heavenly! It's practically the most perfect breakfast dish, ever. Every bite still put a smile on my face. Super tasty, veggies were slightly sweet and the quality of the corned beef was exquisite. Yes, corned beef can be exquisite. The egg on top just was like icing on the cake. This time, I was also lucky to get a taste of the pop tart. I was pretty blown away with it cause I had that grocery bought, genetically modified, pure of preservatives breakfast kids treat in mind. But this was nothing like that. This is a very grown up, gourmet version. I liked... a lot lot. I can't quite say this visit trumped the last but that both were equally fantastic and with equally good service. The server was actually the same gal that was there last year and she's just a sweetie. In the end, I was happy that the company I came with all enjoyed the place since all I had done was rave about the dish I had from here. Two of them were locals that had never been to BHR. They both were really impressed and kept saying how delicious their meal was. I guess the spot is a little off the beaten path so it doesn't get the crowd like those other spots. We actually got to walk right in and get seated during the brunch time on the weekend. That's pretty much unheard of at all those other must go brunch spots. Good... I'm glad it's still a little bit of a secret. Bawahahaha All mine. :P

Yelp
Bad Habit is a quirky brunch spot that looks like it was carved out of an old 1890's taproom. The wood floors and brick walls make for a cozy environment to grab a delicious brunch! The waits can be a little long, so the key is to head to the coffee shop attached through the small hallway on the right of the entrance, and let them know you're waiting for a table. They'll put your coffee in a glass and you can enjoy it with your meal once your table is ready. I had the croque madame which comes with a little house salad. The ham and egg were perfectly done, but the bread could benefit from being a bit softer so the knife passes through easily and the bites are easier to construct. Otherwise, it was a delicious dish!

Yelp
Perfect atmosphere, the truffle Benedict is my new favorite thing! Came on a Saturday by 10 am, not too busy (snow day as well) but amazing staff, super friendly, helpful with menu questions. Parking wasn't awful either! The check came and the wait staff was so sweet, asking us if we wanted to split it or pay all together. "Memphis" was our server, and I LOVED her chat about Mardi Gras.
