The Best Ice Cream in London | Where to Eat Ice Cream Gelato and Sorbet | Eater London

"This is a bit of an Italian roll-out, with the Florentine chain making its mark across London. But, particularly at this small Fulham parlour with a striking bright orange frontage, the gelato delivers the goods. Ripples of chewy, almost caramelised pistachio paste cut through a base of sugar, cream, milk, and eggs — no vanilla or anything else — in pistachio “buontalenti,” while a dark chocolate sorbet is a thing of chewy, rich beauty." - Emma Hughes

Hard to miss with that blazing orange branding, but sadly Badiani Chelsea is all style, no scoop. I’ve been before and had great experiences, but this visit? A letdown from start to finish. Staff were visibly unbothered, the queue moved at glacial speed, and delivery drivers clogged the front like they were guarding the gelato vault. Two customers actually gave up and walked out. The loyalty app puck was buried under receipts like it was an inconvenience to even acknowledge. Yes, a small thing, but indicative of the chaos. The gelato itself was packed with ice crystals and noticeably lacking in flavour. My affogato came with no advice, no smile, and no care. And don’t even start on the outdoor area: stained cushions, bird droppings, and an AC unit loud enough put off any customers that made it past the ordering experience. Not exactly the vibe. For a premium spot in Chelsea, you’d expect better, at the very least, clean tables and customer service that isn’t allergic to enthusiasm. Sadly, even after opening at 12:00 on a weekend, the stools were still on tables 30 minutes in. If you’re not ready for customers, don’t open. Two stars, and that’s mostly because I remember when this place used to hit. Here’s hoping it finds its groove again, but right now, it’s just not it.

Badiani Gelato in Chelsea offers a stylish, modern interior—though the vivid orange theme can feel a bit overwhelming. The menu features a creative selection of gelato flavours alongside coffee and Italian-style pastries. I sampled the Picolo size pistachio gelato. The base flavour was smooth and rich with swirls of pistachio layer. However, the overall sweetness was overpowering, masking the natural flavour of the nuts. While the gelato has a premium feel, the pricing does feel steep for what you get. Here’s a breakdown of the gelato prices: Cups • Piccolo (1 flavour): £5.00 • Medio (1–2 flavours): £6.00 • Grande (1–3 flavours): £6.80 Cones • Piccolo (+ flavour): £5.95 • Medio (1–2 flavours, gluten-free option available): £6.45 • Choco Cone: £7.50 The venue is cashless, which may be inconvenient for some. Overall, while the presentation is appealing and the concept has promise, the gelato was overly sweet for my taste and small for the prices are on the higher end—even for Chelsea

I go to Badiani’s at least once a week with my dad. He’s a gelato fiend and he knows when he’s found the best spot. My absolute go to’s are the two with a gorgeous crema on top: 1. The pistachio gelato 2. La Dolce Vita (hazelnut) The texture of these are so incredible. The layering on top is ultra smooth and just makes the flavour so much more impactful. The staff are also lovely and will let you try a flavour before getting it. The quality never dips - true Italian ice cream in the heart of Chelsea.

Genuinely some of the best ice cream I’ve ever had. Their gelato is insanely rich and decadent with fantastic flavour. Every single variant I’ve had have been fantastic but their buonetelli collection is an absolute standout with the pistachio one of the best bites of ice cream I’ve ever had. I’m also a big fan of their cheesecake, coconut, mint chocolate and hazlenut flavours. They consistently have seasonal flavours which are always amazing. Most recently I’ve tried their hot cross bun flavour which was great. Their staff are always been friendly and encourage you to try several flavours to pick the right one. The only possible negative is how rich everything is making a few bites more than enough to satiate you. Would definitely recommend coming with friends or family to get to try as many flavours as possible. It is always an instant favourite with those I bring. A definite recommend!

Their new matcha range is great as they have options for everyone’s tastes! The matcha is good quality and has an earthy taste. Recommend the sorbet matcha latte and the crepes.

I was there for dessert after a meal. I asked for a menu recommendation. Bincy was very helpful and let me test out the options for my indecision - the pistachio was the best. I also got the app stamped with instructions. I will visit again~. Thank you Bincy~ 💕

I walked 5 miles to have one of their ice creams and it was absolutely amazing. Signature sources as part of the ice cream, fantastic! I absolutely love ice cream so my bar is very high when comparing to other Galletto brands around the world. This one instantly went into my top five.

Strawberry sorbet was very amazing and beyond my expectations. It tastes of strawberry with ice and cream. It has a gooey texture and is also hard.
