Netflix’s ‘Chef’s Table’: A Guide to Restaurants Featured on the Show | Eater
"Jeong Kwan, the Zen Buddhist nun featured in Season 3 of Chef’s Table, does not cook in a restaurant. But the temple where she lives opens its doors to a limited number of visitors throughout the year. Baegyangsa takes reservations for a temple stay program called “Experience of Original Temple Food and Culture With Monk,” where a meal is part of the itinerary. The cost of this program is 150,000 KRW (approximately $134) per person. Read a full recap of Jeong Kwan’s Chef’s Table episode here." - Greg Morabito
Volume 3, Episode 1: Jeong Kwan
"In South Korea, Buddhist nun Jeong Kwan approaches cooking as a spiritual practice. But her meals have left some of the world's best chefs in awe."
One of the biggest temples from South Jeolla Province. It's a nice place with alleys for slow walks.
P.S. Revisited this temple on a rainy afternoon of April (2025) and enjoyed a quiet and relaxing time. Sometimes, going late means less or no crowded.

If you're planning a temple stay in Korea, Baekyangsa should be on your list. The view is outstanding.
Try before the foliage. It might get a bit noisy with tourists when the leaves turn red and yellow.

Such an amazing atmosphere here. The hike to the main temple is about 15-20 mins but you can go even higher into the mountains for a round trip 2-3 hour walk and see even more amazing views. One of the best temples in Korea hands dowm

Is it possible to be more beautiful than here? "stunned, overwhelmed, mesmerized." I had this feeling that I'm struggling to put into words. Maybe: coming to a place like this alone is a reward for being alone - being lonely. The solitude felt even in the midst of the crowd was so intensely satisfying that... that I couldn't experience such if I had been human enough have had a family.

We had an amazing temple stay here, the monks were very kind, the food simple but was flavourful, the temple was beautiful, and the hikes around the same.

Baekyangsa is part of the Naejangsan National Park. It is best to visit in the fall season while the leaves are changing adding to an already beautiful place and wonderful hike up the mountains. It is a wonderful park with some of the best scenery I have ever seen. There is also a small village outside the park with family osned eateries and street food. The best way to get there is by train which drops you off at Baekyangsa station. The only down side is that there was no local bus that I've seen with a direct route from station to the park.
