14 Great Restaurants to Dine in Key West, Florida | Eater Miami

"Located on Duval Street, this beloved restaurant resides in a classic Key West home built in 1884. Serving brunch every day, it’s the perfect spot to visit after a long night of drinking. Warm cinnamon buns and breakfast tacos, made with scrambled egg, shrimp, bacon, cheddar-jack cheese, sriracha aioli, and served in grilled flour tortillas with house potatoes, are crowd favorites. The whole fried snapper served with jasmine rice, chef’s vegetables, and Thai chili garlic sauce is a can’t-miss choice for dinner." - Amber Love Bond

10 Best Breakfasts in Key West For a Fresh Start to the Day | Condé Nast Traveler

"Bagatelle serves one of Key West’s best brunches. Eggs, the main event, come prepared in a variety of ways, including with biscuits and gravy or chicken and waffles. The Benedicts are perhaps the most beloved section of the menu; a tangy lobster version is made with sautéed local lobster meat and a Key lime Hollandaise. The restaurant bar also hosts a breakfast "hangover" happy hour (9 to 11:30 a.m. daily), where you can feast on $5 hair-of-the-dogs and smaller, tapas-style breakfast dishes." - Jennifer M. Wood

Had dinner here on the upstairs outside deck. The bread service came with 3 types of bread, all were delicious. I had the filet mignon and my husband had the ribeye and both were perfectly cooked. We went with the garlic mashed potatoes and asparagus for our sides and both were delicious. Conner, our server, was friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. If you’re looking for a nice dinner, you won’t be disappointed.

Google
Bagatelle on Duval Street is a fantastic spot to hit for happy hour in Key West. The two-story setup gives it a great atmosphere, with bars on both levels and plenty of space to kick back and enjoy the island vibes. We stopped in for happy hour and were really impressed, the drink specials were solid, and the food was even better. Edgar was our bartender and server, and he took excellent care of us. He’s got a great sense of humor, mixes a mean cocktail, and doesn’t skimp on the pour, exactly what you want during happy hour! Food-wise, the lobster mac and cheese is an absolute standout, being rich, flavorful, and generously packed with lobster. The pork tostada was another winner, loaded with tender, well-seasoned pork and topped with a perfectly paired sauce that brought it all together. Overall, Bagatelle is a great choice for a relaxed yet lively experience, especially during happy hour. Great drinks, delicious food, and top-notch service make it a must-stop on Duval. Highly recommended.

Google
AMAZING! I will give this place 100/10 the food was incredible, we were lucky enough to be seated at the balcony were we could look at the main street and enjoy the live music in the local across the street the ambiance was great! In terms of food we chose the Blackened Swordfish with corn & black bean risotto and broccolini, it was bursting in flavor, everything perfectly cooked this dish is a must try on their menu for sure! The toaster coconut mojito was delicious, tropical and refreshing and we closed our dinner date with the Key Lime Pie that was serverd with a strawberry sauce in the bottom of the plate, amazing!. Our server was attentive, kind and helpful throughout the night. I would recommend the bagatelle with my eyes closed and we will definitely come back!

Google
We’ve walked by Bagatelle so many times and finally decided to make a reservation, and we’re glad we did. The ambience, service, and food were all incredible. We had the tomahawk steak, crab cake, grilled asparagus, and their creamy mac & cheese, which was one of the better ones I have ever had, easily in my top five of all time. Will be going back and the location right across from Mallory Square makes it easy to catch a sunset.

Google
Fabulous dining experience. Service and atmosphere was unmatched. We had a traditional thanksgiving dinner preceded by beluga caviar appetizer. Can’t wait to do it again!!

Google
It was a very pleasant experience for a late lunch/brunch. The food was good with big portions. So you get value for your buck. Host was welcoming and explained the menu to us. Service was good. The atmosphere and weather were perfect to sit on the patio and people watch. It's worth the time.

Google
The best restaurant we tried in Key West! Our server, Tammy, was such a sweetheart, incredibly kind and helpful. The food was AMAZING, the cocktails were AMAZING, and we loved everything about this place. Please go….you won’t regret it!

Google
What a gem! We stopped by twice and both brunch and happy hour (pm, they have two happy hours!) were excellent. The food is top notch and the cocktails are well made. Eric was our bartender and a lot of fun!

Yelp
Love this place for brunch. Their terrace is perfect to people watch and they brunch food is great. I got the crab cake Benedict which was delicious. They also have n/a drink options which I really like, Aperol for example.

Yelp
We started with happy hour at a high top downstairs for a cocktail then moved to the outside balcony on the upper level. Ambiance was excellent for both styles of our visit. They had a great wine selection and we enjoyed a bottle of Cab with our dinner. We started with a Caesar which had nice pieces of white anchovies (mine only) and then we both had blackened swordfish which was cooked and seasoned to perfection over risotto. We finished off with a glass of baileys on the rocks. Dinner was 2.5 hours of overlooking Duval ave in KeyWest. An incredible evening with service that wasn't pushy but there when we needed something.

Yelp
Had a lovely meal at Bagatelle on my most recent Key West adventure. The restaurant is beautifully decorated and inviting. We opted to sit at the bar and order a couple of martinis to start the night. We also threw in an order of blistered shishito peppers, which came with a hot honey glaze which gave the dish a nice kick. For my entree, I opted for the lobster fettuccine, which was served in a roasted garlic herb sauce and came with cherry tomatoes and spinach. It was very flavorful and although spiny lobster isn't always my favorite, this particular lobster tail was juicy, succulent, and grilled to perfection. I would absolutely come back to Bagatelle the next time I'm in Key West!

Yelp
So glad to have finally tried Bagatelle. We were a large group and seated quickly, though I'm almost certain someone in our group had a reservation. The service was excellent! I started with the cucumber basil martini and it was stand out delicious. For dinner I got the blackened swordfish and was really impressed by it! The serving size was way more than enough for me. We did get a couple orders of mussels for the table and as someone who only eats mussels occasionally, if not rarely, I found theirs phenomenal... I really liked the cognac peppercorn cream sauce. I was able to try some of the Key Lime Pie and found it good but thought was maybe too much meringue for me, though I recognize that's kind of a key west staple.

Yelp
The good: really cute and good vibes off Duval street. The bad: The signs outside, along with the website offer a morning happy hour ending at 11:30. When we got inside at 10:45, we were told it is only at the bar, so we moved upstairs to some additional bar tables. The server upstairs said HH ends at 11 now per her owner, and since it was 11:01 she couldn't put it in the system. After involving several other staff, they said they would honor the 11:30 time. The food was super average. The lobster mac and cheese had a couple specks of lobster in it. The corned beef hash was very dried out and had a lot of fatty pieces that looked like potato. The cornflake French toast was ok, but wouldn't go back for it. Very glad we only paid HH price for this!
google avatar

Mike M.

Yelp
Went by for happy hour...had heard so many good things about their lobster Mac and cheese. We struggled to find the lobster. The Mac and cheese was tasty, but the lobster was tiny and barely noticeable. Service was great and had no issues getting a spot to eat at the outside bar.

Yelp
Had breakfast at Bagatelle on Saturday morning. The restaurant is lovely just lovely. Beautiful decor. We had lovely Sol take care of us. What a wonderful server. She was sweet and very attentive. We found our breakfast dishes to be well prepared, very flavorful and nicely presented. We had some delicious Mango Mojitos. You have to get those. Why not a 5 you ask? The whole time we were sitting there an employee was talking to someone else at the bar in such a loud manner that we couldn't enjoy our time together. We heard all about here displeasure with God knows who. She was very distracting. I couldn't understand why Mgmt did not address it. It was unfortunate. I felt like I could not enjoy my food in what was a beautiful, romantic environment.

Yelp
The food here is whamming! The French toast was soooo good I wanted to order the fried blueberry one but I was too full. The Irish coffee was tasty. The hangover happy hour is the perfect time to visit. The service was top notch at the bar. Love the ambiance of this establishment. Hope to visit again!

Yelp
Stopped by here for a brunch and we were very pleased with that decision. Our waitress was just wonderful and offered interesting specials and pointed out the stars of the menu. The front porch seating is beautiful with plenty of shade on a hot Florida afternoon. The drinks were amazing- my watermelon mimosa was sooooo good Eggs Benedict with a southern twist were a big hit too! Will definitely be back and highly recommend to check out this gem a short walk from Mallory square.

Yelp
While we were seated immediately we sat for a long time before even being acknowledged. No water either. There was a table of 6 behind us that received every bit of the server's attention. I got up and got my own Tabasco sauce and water refill off of the server's station. The server then came by and asked if I would rather have Cholula sauce. I said I would so he took the tabasco sauce and never brought the Cholula. The fruit served wasn't ripe. The shrimp in the omelette tasted a little less than fresh and I did get sick a couple of hours later. We of course waited a long time before we flagged the server down to pay. Do not recommend.

Justine R.

Yelp
Sat at the bar and bartenders were great! Had the lobster Mac n Cheese which was phenomenal! Martinis were on point, we will be back!!

Yelp
While we did not have a chance to fit this into one of our dinner spots during our trip, we did get to enjoy their happy hour, which was one of the best we've experienced, anywhere. We ordered one of everything on the menu. The lobster Mac was absolutely delightful. Drinks fantastic. The environment is beautiful. A spot we will try to get back to in future.

Marie O.

Yelp
Nice brunch menu and lovely to sit on the porch and people watch. The glazed bacon was tasty but I remember when it was broiled and had a nice crunch to it. The way it's served now it might as well have been brushed with a sweet and hot sauce. Service was good.

Yelp
This place was really swanky. We came here during the day as part of a food walking tour in Key West, Florida. The building is quite large with two stories, front rooms, back rooms, outdoor patio, outdoor wrap around balcony, etc. This is a great place to make a reservation for a group party to celebrate those special occasions. It's also a romantic date night and a fun brunch place with your girlfriends. Beautiful decor throughout the building. We were in an upstairs, back room bar. It was a cozy room with several tall pub tables and a private bar with a beautiful carved wooden bar. We were served a sample of lobster mac-n-cheese. It was amazing!!! I don't generally eat shellfish. I usually find the texture rubbery and the favor unpleasant, but that was far from the case here. The chunks of lobster were hearty and flaky with no discernible seafood flavor. The mac-n-cheese was a great way to highlight the lobster without hiding this star. I'm certain the prices here are double or triple what they would be in other areas of the US. Bring your credit card and save up for the experience. You can also aim for their happy hour times to take advantage of some of the price deals. Tables have starched white linens and fine cutlery and server sets. It's a classy place for those memorable meals with special people in your life.

Yelp
Our experience was wonderful. We were there for a bachelorette and thy gave us an amazing table on the front patio. It was a little warm outside (mid July) but we could hear live music from down that street and that was very cool. The food was spectacular and everyone loved their cocktails. The chef came out to talk to us after the meal and that made it even more special. They brought out a complimentary slice of key lime pie with a sky high meringue and a giant sparkler on top. The bride said it tasted even better than Kermit's, which is crazy because she is always at Kermit's! Our server was jay and he was just delightful. We certainly will be going back and I am delighted about how much our guests enjoyed the meal and their experience.

Yelp
Updated for 2025* Happy hour prices are now $8-10 per dish, but still one of the better deals in town. Drinks are priced around $7 and are fantastic! Great service and lovely atmosphere.

Yelp
Absolutely delish, food service & presentation was fantastic . Entire family loved. Everything

Yelp
Ambiance was great. Small place with small tables, but charming and located right in the downtown area. Staff was nice and friendly. Food tasted great and lots of unique choices. A bit pricey. For 4 of us with entrees and 4 adult beverages it was just over $500
google avatar

Alex T.

Yelp
Service and food was good but when the check came there was a "3% credit card surcharge". This is getting out of hand. We won't be eating at establishments that have these charges anymore.

Yelp
My mom and I went to dinner here on our first night in Key West last month. One of my best friends recommended this place and I am so glad we made it here! I requested to sit outdoor/on the balcony and we ended up sitting right in front, along the balcony with a view of Duval Street. Martinis were delicious to start, especially the lemon drop. For food, we shared several appetizers, including the burratta and Brie with carmelized pineapple. Both delicious! We both got the crabcakes for our entrées, and they were some of the best we had ever had. Speaking of... The key lime pie was also amazing, with tons of meringue on top. We will definitely head back here our next time in Key West! Just an FYI - there are many loose chickens/birds running around in the keys. Some of them made their way onto the balcony at the restaurant. This did not bother my mom and I, but there was somebody next to us who was very unhappy!

Yelp
We went to Bagatelle's for their Thanksgiving meal. There were 3 in our party and the ONLY hit I can give the restaurant was that after we were seated, about 10 minutes passed with no attention from a server. My wife flagged down a server (Edgar) who wasn't supposed to be ours but he said he'd take care of us until the assigned server got to us. Well, Edgar ended up as our server, checking in on us regularly but not enough to be a nuisance. The Thanksgiving meal was fabulous. Both the dark meat and the white meat were tender, juicy, and, oh so flavorful! We all truly enjoyed our time at Bagatelles and felt it was a wonderful way to spend a Thanksgiving afternoon with family. Great job to Edgar and the chefs for a truly memorable experience.

Yelp
Very cute place for brunch located right on Duval. Had wonderful mimosas and delicious food. Very friendly and quick services as well.

Yelp
We came here as part of the Key West Food tour. What a great place that I have now added to my list of "must return" places to dine. We were seated upstairs at their back bar area which was a nice spot. It seemed that the restaurant had several rooms and balcony with wonderful seating areas. We were treated to their lobster Mac n Cheese which was excellent. It was creamy, flavorful and had nice chunks of lobster. Our service was fast as we were part of a small tour group. Very enjoyable!

Yelp
Wow! That about wraps up the food here at Bagatelle. The complimentary bread came with a red pepper compound butter that was so unique! They had a very good wine selection and one of the best mocktails I've ever tried!(black cherry midnight). We tried the bagatelle salad and the burrata - both were delicious. The grilled peaches on the burrata really stole the show for salad though! As mains we got the swordfish and the hogfish. Both were simply amazing. The swordfish was grilled to perfection and served with the most unique risotto I've had. The hogfish was seasoned amazingly which I find hard to do since it has such a sweet & delicate flavor. The pepper cream sauce served over it was stellar and didn't distract from the fish which was the star of the plate! The only thing I can say is I regret not leaving room for dessert!
google avatar

Zach S.

Yelp
We've been coming here for years always thinking this will measure up to the ones in NY and LA, but always leave disappointed from the service and the food options. I gave it 5 stars 5 years ago, but clearly now this place has lost those ratings with the experience and cuisine changes. Overpriced now with poor service, I never got a refill on an ice water lol. And then the waitstaff looms over you with the payment tool with the 20% tip defaulted, and you're like Awkward lol. anyway I would not return here, it was not memorable.
google avatar

Yelp
Everything was excellent. Food, service & ambience. Highly recommend. It is expensive though, but worth it.
google avatar

Yelp
This is in my top 3 restaurants in KW. The food has always been top quality. The staff from the greater to the server to the bartender are very professional and helpful. The ambience is charming along with the location right on Duval. A must do drop in. Enjoy

Yelp
Lovely place to dine in Key West. Its on Duval St. but the quieter end. Perched inside a historic mansion its perfect for a special occasion or celebration. There were several wedding parties dining there the evening we went. Try for the upstairs balcony. Service was spot on. Very responsive without hoovering and just friendly and pleasant. Food was excellent. Salads were all crisp and fresh, the lobster mac was a HUGE portion. Could have been a meal in and of itself. The airplane chicken and the whole fried fish were delicious and the fish was beyond fresh. Portions were generous. Great wine and cocktail menu to boot. Highly recommend.
google avatar

Jason P.

Yelp
Fairly disappointed after having high hopes from the reviews. Swordfish was very dry, and visually looked dry before even tasking it. The broccolini with it also was just steamed and flavorless. The filet was fine but nothing special. The only 5 star item was the muscles appetizer. Fine place for dinner but definitely wouldn't rush back.
google avatar

Johny M.

Yelp
The fried chicken sandwich was pretty good. 3 out of 4 ordered it. if you want it. Service a little slow. If you drink hot coffee ask for fresh brewed. The one my father-in-law was cold.
google avatar

Christy H.

Yelp
We had been in Key West all week and saved this for our last dinner out. Saved the best for last! It was a Saturday night and we had been on a dive all day and didn't think to make reservations; the staff was so nice and got us in right away. Amazing seats outside on the balcony. My husband had red wine and the special of fresh fish. I had a big salad with cashews, apples, yellow raisins and I added blackened chicken. Added a side of truffle fries. Everything was fresh and so delicious! Our waitress was so professional and kind. Loved it so much!
google avatar

Natalie H.

Yelp
We stopped into Bagatelle during one of our cruise port days. It's within an easy walking distance to the cruise port. The food was delicious. I ordered the biscuits and gravy and my husband ordered breakfast tacos. It's a beautiful space with indoor and outdoor seating options. Our server was very friendly and attentive and the food came out fairly quickly. Highly recommend if you're looking for a brunch spot in Key West!
google avatar

Denise S.

Yelp
Hubby had B&G, it was pretty good. I had the Seafood Trio Omelette, very overcooked & dry Potatoes were better than the Omelette. Service was average.
google avatar

Lisa S.

Yelp
Great location on Duvall. House has a great story and history. But the food is the standout. We had breakfast/brunch there on two of our days. It was so good the first time, we just had to go back. First visit we had Corned Beef and Hash (the best hash I've ever had) and the Country Benedict with pulled pork on cornbread. Both delicious. On our second visit, we had the Trio Seafood Omlete and Crabcake Benedict. Again, they score another hit. We didn't get a chance to hit there for dinner, but definitely would if we had more time. The dinner menu looked outstanding.
google avatar

Patricia K.

Yelp
It's a great location. Ask for a table outside on the second floor if you enjoy people watching. Had the beef carpaccio and the lobster Fettuccine (lobster was delicious, fettuccine needed more flavor). Waitress is great, nice French accent and excellent service
google avatar

Casey M.

Yelp
This must have been an unlucky night for us. We sampled 7 different dishes between the 5 of us and had 1 happy camper. If it weren't for the wine (Loveblock), we would have walked out. Lobster Mac n Cheese - missing lobster. Was told it was "shaved" so that's why we can't see it. That seemed strange. We bought two Mac n cheese dishes. They mistakenly brought the one with Lobster that was someone's entree was brought to the table as a side. And it came out before everything else was served. So it wound up being totally cold. Very strange. The setting was gorgeous. We were on the 2nd floor and could see the cruise ships docked. I would give it a 2nd chance, but I have no clue when we will make the trek all the way back to Key West.
google avatar

Jo M.

Yelp
We didn't have a reservation, but there were many empty tables the entire time we were there. Our waitress, DeeElee, was very nice. She was hustling around the place. We were looking for somewhere airconditioned that wasn't blaring loud (bad) music. Our meal was good but a little expensive. We paid $65 for a tuna salad with four tiny pieces of tuna and a bagatella (with 5 medium shrimp). The bagatella had good flavor. We didn't order drinks (not even iced tea) because it was hot out. They had a happy hour while we were there and it brought in a very loud group of people who were taken upstairs because there wasn't room at the bar for them.
google avatar

Danielle T.

Yelp
this place is amazing!! my friends & i went here on a girls trip & everything we had was delicious. we had requested to be seated on the second floor balcony (we love to people watch) & the ambiance out there was a perfect backdrop to our meal. all of our food was delicious our highlights were the ahi tuna so refreshing & full of flavor & i'm not a big cheesecake person but the white chocolate raspberry cheesecake was probably one of the greatest desserts i've ever had. overall the staff, food, & vibes were amazing! can't wait to go back!
google avatar

Julie C.

Yelp
This place has a friendly staff and great service. The food is good. I was upstairs so it was a little quiet, but there is outside seating upstairs too. The waitress noticed we ordered one salad to share and split it into two plates for us. Super thoughtful!
google avatar

Miriam C.

Yelp
Carlos was an amazing server; one of the best we've had in a long time. We each had a breakfast cocktail and enjoyed sitting in the AC upstairs. I do recommend making a reservation. My husband enjoyed the sausage gravy and biscuits and I LOVED the crab cake benny! It was absolutely phenomenal. We would return when on vacation.

Arik A.

Yelp
Went for my mother's birthday. Only thing good was the food. Mussels were great. Service wasn't great, it was raining and they put us on a wet table knowing we had a reservation. Expensive, and didn't tell us about a CC charge.

Yelp
One of my favorites in key west love the building , the bar area outside. Food is awesome staff is great

Yelp
Bagatelle saved our Thanksgiving Day! When our reservation at another restaurant was cancelled at the last minute due to the restaurant's poor communication, we were left with nowhere to go for Thanksgiving dinner. Since we had a reservation at Bagatelle for the following night, my husband quickly called the restaurant to see if they were able to move our reservation up by one day. The restaurant was able to accommodate us, but we would have to eat a bit earlier, which we did not mind. After a full day of traveling, we just wanted to enjoy a nice, hot meal, and thanks to Bagatelle, we were able to do just that. We started off dinner with a couple of glasses of wines and an order of pan charred brussels sprouts with bacon. The brussels sprouts were all right. Then, for our mains, I had the swordfish, the "Key West Master Chef Award winning dish," while my husband had the Thanksgiving Day Special, which included turkey, mashed potatoes and stuffing. The portions of both entrees were huge, but this was our first meal of the day, so we devoured everything. I really enjoyed my Swordfish, it was surprisingly soft, and the texture of the risotto was cooked to the perfect consistency. After cleaning our plates, our server brought out a slice of key lime pie for us, mistaking it for one of our birthdays. We told her it wasn't either our birthdays. Upon realizing her mistake, she offered the slice of key lime pie on the house, but if we did not want to eat it, it was okay too. My husband and I appreciated the gesture, so we kept the pie. It was delicious and the perfect welcome to Key West. P.S. Bagatelle is dog friendly!
google avatar

Shawn G.

Yelp
My overall review is more of a 4.5 but didn't want to be short and give 4 stars. The staff was friendly and accommodating to us having a small dog and set aside a table ahead of time that met our ask to be on the porch. Food was pretty good and some of the best I had in key west. It wasn't the basic tourist dinner and presentation was beautiful. The shrimp, chicken, and whole snapper were delicious. Inside it's gorgeous and a lot of historic architecture elements in the mansion are in tact.
google avatar

Margaret W.

Yelp
Ohhhhh the corn flake French toast is amazing! Wow. We will return here for sure! Do not pass this up!
google avatar

Garrett B.

Yelp
Delicious brunch and immaculate vibes make up this spot in key west. With plenty of patio seating upstairs and downstairs, this place is a must for brunch. The crab cake Benedict was amazing, perfect crab cakes and the yummy hollandaise sauce. The burrata and heirloom tomato salad was refreshing. The fried French toast was an interesting take on the classic dish. While it was good I probably wouldn't get it again. The bloody Mary's and mimosas were awesome. Our server was attentive and kept asking to get another round of drinks and refill our waters.
google avatar

Jenelle T.

Yelp
Great location! Amazing service! Such a cool place to enjoy brunch! We had a Tennessee Peach lemonade cocktail & fish tacos. Very fresh & hand crafted. Must visit if you are in the area.

Jynae C.

Yelp
We stumbled into this place for brunch one day. We were hungry and looking for breakfast-type options and the menu outside advertised all day brunch. The place was busy but we were taken to a table rather quickly. We sat near the bar, but close enough to the outside that overlooked Duval St. The table was a high-top table tha wobbled with all movement. HA! Chickens were very entertaining as they strutted around looking for dropped snacks. We had the Lox bagel with cream cheese. It was an interesting presentation as you have to assemble it yourself. All this is okay and it tasted good, just messy. Our daughter opted for the ceasar salad and she was satisfied with that. I had a bagel with cream cheese and a side of bacon. It was enough and we left satisfied. I'm not sure we would go there again, but it seemed to always be busy. Service was okay; nothing over the top, but adequate.
google avatar

Lorinn S.

Yelp
Bagatelle was really special. We sat on the second floor outside, where we could enjoy our lovely dinner, while watching the hens, roosters and iguanas, climbing up the tree to roost or sleep for the night. We shared the whole fried snapper and it was absolutely delicious. We also had their crabcakes and wished they came with more. We had a very enjoyable dinner with fabulous service.
