I came in January 2025! I have to come back! Tried to go. Was good not great. I know it’s better fresh eaten there. Ordered turkey bacon egg n cheese, eggs a lil plasticy n cheese was a little cold also ordered a Ruben. Ruben very tasty and filling. Service was fantastic for how early it was. CASH ONLY SON!

Google
Very lovely and local store. It’s cash only so we got some cash from a in-store atm. We ordered a jalapeño cheese bagel with BLT, which is 10/10 the cheese is amazing and the bacon is really crunchy highly recommend! However, we found the strawberry cheese is really disappointing. The picture on the website had a large difference with what I got🥲

Google
Wow, Bagels Etc. is a gem. It's a narrow place but packed with flavor!! If I was local, I'd come here every week to pick up day-old bagels available for sale. They're made in house and are probably the best I've ever eaten. My husband had a pumpernickel bfast sandwich which was super tasty. I had the cucumber cooler bagel sandwich with a jalapeno bagel and capers added. The jalapeno flavor is suffused throughout the dough and the spice is phenomenal. I got an iced vanilla latte as well and that was very tasty. The staff is friendly, and you can definitely see why they've been in business almost 40 years!!

Google
These are the best bagels in DC. They make them in house so they are always fresh. The bagels are soft and chewy, with plenty of flavor options. Pretty simple and straightforward, so not necessarily the most unique or special bagel sandwiches, but the bagels themselves are incredible. Cash only, but they have an ATM inside. Small outdoor seating area.

Jonathan Ortiz

Google
Service is extremely fast given how the line wraps back and around the entire inner dining area. The food is pretty good too: the eggs were fried well, the hash brown was crispy, and the bagel was a nice and chewy and an alright size. Overall a pretty decent bagel place given its selection of options, speed of service, and taste. Note that it’s cash only, but they have an ATM you can use.

Cassie Smith

Google
Some of the best bagels in DC. Their BEC is the perfect proportions between the egg, bacon and cheese. This is the closest you’ll get to a bodega style bagel in DC. Don’t bother trying to eat there though because seating is limited. There’s a great park a block away that you can eat at if it’s nice enough outside.

Google
Too much hypes about this place so I had to check 1. Super nasty It's obviously cash only(what in the world.. these days.. cash only for real?), the cashier wears globes to handle all the money and change then grab the bagel with same gloves to get it toasted. I almost threw up looking at it. Even recorded the scene 2. Packed Line is insanely long. Store is small so it's even hard to pass the line 3. Hygiene Just overall.. it's not the best environment to eat. The restroom needs a key and it's... dirty... 4. Bagel The quality of bagel itself is alright. The size of Bagels are all different. Like sun dried tomato Bagels were like 2/3 size of everything bagel. Bacon inside the bagel was very salty. The eggs and cheese were so bland. Not the best breakfast sandwich I had 5. Price It's not even that cheap. Then cash only? Nah for me

Roberto Oliveira

Google
Simply amazing. Food is great. There are a large variety of local made bagels and topping. For those from an operation field, this place is a class itself. The family shows how operations should be. Fast and quality service with a superb product.

Yelp
Cash only, not very big but you can snag a seat or eat outside. had multi different bagels and coffee. All were amazing!!

Yelp
I lucked out coming here today! Hungry and just wanting a quick bagel, I stumbled into a little bagel old school deli oasis. Very small only a few seats inside and tables out, and CASH ONLY! I've been doing a self non-sanctioned bagel taste testing of DC "bagel" shops, and this one is tied so far for #1 spot with Buffalo and Bergen. The. Angels as written about here are chewy and light. And inexpensive!!! The sweetest of ladies working the counter made my day amazing, by going above and beyond - I won't go into why, but it was extraordinary- and then they performed the same amazing kindness to another customer right after me. I will be back and with an appetite and friends! Also found out they make the bagels on site (boiled) and have been in existence for over 30 years.

Yelp
amazing food clean fast and healthy if you want something good while your in Virginia try this place the servers at especially nice and look forward to coming here again make sure to try there steak and cheese sandwich and the pizza beagal

Yelp
Best bagels in DC 10/10 recommend I get the egg bagel with cream cheese and I'm always a happier person once I'm finished.

Yelp
Very fast, delicious and the Jewish Bialy as the bread is amazing. Not very much place to sit and you need cash. Service is almost instant.
google avatar

WaNesha J.

Yelp
Real interesting set up. They only take cash. You have to walk to the back of this narrow path and wait in line. Things move fast so be ready when you get to the register to order. The bagel said was actually pretty good. It was toasty it didn't taste like typical bagels I have that are more bready and chewy.

Yelp
Finding a cheap eat in DC is no easy thing. I love a good breakfast bagel but dislike some bagel shop prices. Bagels Etc though is an exception to the expensive DC food. Got two bagels, one with egg cheese and meat and the other with cream cheese, for a total under 10 dollars. Both were very good! Had a good amount of egg to bacon ratio and the bagels are really delicious. Bagels are a decent size too- if you're STARVING you may need to order more than one but for a midday meal this hit the spot. It can get busy but bagels still come out pretty fast and the lady working at the register was super nice. IMPORTANT: this is cash only.

Yelp
Growing up close to NYC has made me a bit of a bagel snob... And this is one of the best bagels I've ever had :'). It's on the smaller side but it's simultaneously light and chewy, with a satisfying flavor. My sesame bagel also had the right amount of sesame seeds (aka a LOT). My order came out super fast!
google avatar

Yurie H.

Yelp
My favorite bagel place in the DMV the bagels are crispy on the outside and soft and chewy on the inside. I hate when bagels are dry/ hard to chew bc it hurts my jaw lol but these are pillowy soft. The bagel sandwiches are customizable so I usually get a BLT with onions on an everything bagel. Remember to bring cash because they're cash only! There is an atm inside the store as well.
google avatar

Jane L.

Yelp
Finally made it to this place and it definitely lived up to the hype. I'm sad they don't take credit cards, but I guess I'll have to live with it. I went on a Sunday around noon and the line looked very long, all the way to the back room. It moved lighting fast, though! I had my bacon, egg, and cheese bagel sandwich in about 10 min. It cost $7, which is about the same as Bethesda Bagel.

Yelp
About a 1-1.5: Bagels Etc. is a Korean-owned bagel/deli place that offers an extensive menu, featuring items such as breakfast sandwiches, bagel melts, cold and hot sandwiches, and salads. We came here for breakfast on a weekend, and we ordered: +#5 - which was a Scrambled Egg Bagel with Sausage, Bacon, or Ham - this was requested with a Jalapeno Cheese bagel with sausage +a Super Bagel - comes with onions, sprouts, tomatoes, and plain cream cheese - I customized this with substituting the plain cream cheese with the chive cream cheese, adding lox, on an Everything bagel We noticed that the price for the two was close to $25+, and we were curious as to why it was so steep; the employee stated that I had requested 'extra lox', which I didn't; it really didn't add up with the prices posted, and there wasn't an itemized receipt that was provided. I feel like these type of places can easily bamboozle you in paying extra if you're really not paying any attention. Oh, and the 'extra lox'? There wasn't - the sandwich only had two slivers of the smoked salmon... Aside from this annoyance, the bagel sandwiches themselves were okay - the bagels themselves were smaller in size and were more on the chewy end - the jalapeno cheddar one was more preferrable; the alfalfa sprouts could have been more fresh. The place is extremely small and super narrow; you line-up by the cashier and place & pay for your order; the staff will then call out when your order is ready. There are only a couple of tables inside by the entrance, and some seating in front of the place. Really wanted to like this place, but no dice. Metered street parking available. +bamboozling of prices +skimpy ingredients +limited seating +metered street parking available

Yelp
CASH ONLY. Small shop with a bunch of Korean aunties who make great bagels. We got ourselves a dozen bagels (everything, egg and blueberry) and an everything bagel with chive cream cheese. The bagel was a little on the smaller side but it was great. The everything bagel has more sesame than your average everything bagel. Solid bagel and better than call your mother. ATM inside. Two tables inside and a few outside, but limited seating. Service was good and fast. Weekends can get busy.

Yelp
A charming bagel and sandwich shop with the most kind staff. Cute Japanese women run this local fave for breakfast, bagels and cold cuts. Cheap coffee, smoothies and fruit. A one stop almost deli feel eatery. I got the Lox bagel with all the fixings. The bagels are steamed as apposed to wood fired which means they are chewier. The lox was not bad and for the price how could I be upset! I am a bit spoiled and like a better quality as far as smoked salmon goes but everything else is great! Generous spread of cream cheese and old school hospitality. DuPont gem :)

Yelp
a fine bagel, but there are better in dc. the flavor was good (nice large salt grinds on the everything), but the bagel is a pretty thin and there isn't much chew at all. Great for sandwiches but still sorta disappears. I had a sausage egg and cheese + hashbrown - it was $10, and it's cash only. Given there's nothing special about any of the components (pretty mild/bland sausage, plain egg scramble without any salt, american cheese), it's not worth the price to me - cheese wasn't even a little bit melted. the bagels could be ok with just a spread, but wasn't impressed by the breakfast sandwich and don't have a strong desire to return at this price point/cash only, when there's a much better option closer to home (pearls)

Yelp
Get here early. Well I don't think it matters the time because one day we came at 930am, another day it was 1130 and the line was still all the way to the back. 35 minutes from line to receive food. You certainly can't be in no rush. My only con- is there's only 1 ordering line/area, and you have to pass the entire line of people to get to the end of the line. Talking about no Covid/ flu measures in place. Cash only!! We ordered the cinnamon raisin w/ honey walnut cream cheese , blueberry w/egg, cheese & sausage , French toast w/ strawberry cream cheese and plain w/ chive cream cheese bagels. Bagels were definitely fresh, soft yet chewy. Cream cheeses had great flavor and texture. Would visit again when in DC

Yelp
Cash-only Taste: 4* Service: 4* Ambience: 3* Price: 2* I was craving a bagel with cream cheese and lox. Stopped by here during the week. Small place, run by a couple ladies. Ordered the salt bagel toasted with Los and cream cheese. And asked for all the fixings. At just over $9 is expensive, but it was fresh and tasty.

Yelp
Bagels Etc reminded me of a hole in the wall New York bagel place in the best way. It's cash only and I split one make your own bagel and the famous avocado bagel add turkey. They were both great and I can see why this place is so popular. Bagels came out quick and as you can see they were loaded up! Will definitely be back :)

Yelp
This place was recommended to us and it was right across the street from our hotel, so, as a bagel fanatic, going here for breakfast one day was a no brainer. To be clear, you are not going to this place for the ambience - it's basically a 3 foot wide hallway of chaos, but the food makes it worth it! I had one of my usuals - a salt bagel with lox spread. The bagel was fantastic - so warm and fresh it practically melted in your mouth! My wife tried the bacon and cheese melt - it's basically an open face grilled cheese on a bagel...and she really liked it! Another important note: this place gives off a little bit of Seinfeld-ian "Soup Nazi" vibes - you better know what you want and have your CASH ready to pay when it's your turn! If they call your number and you take more than 5 seconds to react, they give up on you and just put your food on the counter. It's not mean spirited...they're just moving through a lot of volume. I actually found it kind of entertaining!

Yelp
This place is CASH ONLY! We were happened to be in the neighborhood and was looking for breakfast sandwich, we were happy to found this gem in the corner across the street. The bagels are fresh with variety of options, I ordered the egg bagel with sausage egg & cheese. And then didn't realized it was cash only until I was about to pay. Good thing I had enough cash with me that day. The sandwich was good and tasty, please do note that the bagels are on the smaller size scale.

Yelp
Was on the way to another establishment and was so glad I saw this place and stopped by! I had heard great things about the place but didn't realize it was in dupont. The line was hefty when I went in, but was brief and service was extremely quick. I think I went through a line of nearly 30 people in around 10 minutes. They ran out of everything and plain bagels, but I'm so glad I opted for the jalapeño egg and cream cheese sandwich. Was delicious and well priced!
google avatar

Jose P.

Yelp
Talk about feeling like I'm back home in the city. Ambiance was great felt like being back in Jersey getting a bagel and a coffee in the mornings. Service was quick and nice. Please stop by here if you are in the area. I promise you won't regret it.

Yelp
If you're looking for a no frills bagel shop with excellent service and delicious bagel sandwiches, look no further than Bagels Etc. I went on a Monday morning, and the total time that elapsed between me paying and receiving my order couldn't have been more than a minute. They have a nice variety of bagels, including some flavors you don't typically see in bagel shops. For example, I got some cheddar jalapeño bagels and sun-dried tomato bagels to go, which I'm extremely excited to try! It is cash only, so come prepared. For my sandwich, I got bacon, egg, and American cheese on an everything bagel, and it was honestly the perfect bagel sandwich. The bagel was soft and chewy, with a crunchy exterior, and had the perfect amount of everything seasoning. There was a generous portion of bacon as well, which some bagel shops will skimp on! Overall, this is an incredible hole in the wall that has just become my new favorite bagel spot.

Yelp
This little spot made my trip to DC worthwhile. I have never had a real authentic bagel over the years, just the usual store bought rubbish. This is a small shop with a limited seating area. The staff is swift and quick to fill your order. I really liked the many options offered from plain bagels to bagel sandwiches. There are a variety of bagels to opt for and you can pick any bagel to use for a sandwich. Also there are additional add ons like avocado to purchase for some change if the sandwich on the menu doesn't come with everything you want. Food is prepared with speed here. I had a everything bagel with egg and cheese and a french toast flavored bagel for later. This was the best bagel sandwich I have ever had. The texture was spot on, slightly crispy and firm on the outside and chewy on the inside. I was delightfully happy on the inside as I began to realize while eating that the trip there was worth while. The french toast bagel was the same with mild flavors reminiscent of cinnamon and maple! I was given a sample of iced coffee and enjoyed that as well. I simply loved this place and will come back the next time I'm in DC.

Andy Y.

Yelp
Craved a bagel and this place hit the spot! They have a good selection of bagels and various options from plain, cold and hot made to order. The staff was friendly and even made some recommendations. There is an ATM in store as this place only accepts cash only. Will definitely be back. Enjoy!

Maggie P.

Yelp
Best bagels ever.... I would go here every day if I could. Love the service as well! Highly recommend
google avatar

Audrey R.

Yelp
no because I'm genuinely sad, I heard such great things about this place and I can only think of one word : mid - the bagel tasted like it was baked/boiled/whateva recently for sure but look at that like it's not puffy bready special... - I got the french toast flavor and it did have a sweet cinnamon flavor which was nice. all the bagels in the display looked this similar size and shape - the honey walnut cream cheese was soft, warm, and light, which I loved but it was all in the middle hole and barely any actually spread on the bagel aka gone in one greedy bite - I feel like this was the equivalent of a decent grocery store bagel.... $4 cash only (again...?) so at least I don't feel robbed
google avatar

Tara B.

Yelp
Bagels are exactly what you want - crispy on outside and chewy on the inside. Service was quick. They are CASH ONLY with an ATM on site. Be prepared to know what you want because they mean business when you step up to the counter . It's a small and tight space inside, get your good and go type establishment but I LOVED it. Better than the overhyped Call Your Mother bagels or Bethesda Bagels.
google avatar

Daria A.

Yelp
Surprisingly good bagels! Particularly great for DC, but better than many places I've been to in NYC.
google avatar

Kate R.

Yelp
I have been to several bagel shops in the district and this one is definitely my favorite. I just moved to the neighborhood and I'm going to become a new regular at the spot. Weather you live in the area or you're just passing through it's definitely worth a visit. The bagels are absolutely delicious and they have a very wide variety on their menu. I want to come back to try lots of different options that they have!

Michael S.

Yelp
Amazing breakfast bagels. Good price, CASH ONLY. Busy on the weekends and worth the wait
google avatar

Fanta K.

Yelp
Best bagels/sandwiches I've had in DC so far. New York style bagels however you want it. Only downside is that it's cash only, but they do have an atm machine inside . Hard to find parking here
google avatar

Saha S.

Yelp
We had some excellent bagels when we went to NYC, so we were craving bagels when we got back to DC. We decided to try Bagels Etc., since we were exploring DuPont. The restaurant is a hole in the wall, and the lines can get long. However, the bagels were pretty good. We got two Jalapeno cheddar bagels - one with cream cheese and egg, and the other used for a tuna melt. The bagels tasted pretty great, however I felt that my tuna melt could have used a bit more salt. The bagels here are also super cheap - we paid about $15 dollars for two bagels and a coffee. That would have been the cost of one bagel anywhere else. Note that they only accept cash, which probably contributed to the low cost.
google avatar

Yee H.

Yelp
prices are pretty affordable! if u get the egg scramble with sausage ham or bacon, add some cheese or avocado so that it is less dry! it shall be worth it. the eggs and sausage in the bagel were most definitely scrumptious as was the bagel itself. overall a decent experience, would try again if i am ever in the area

Brent C.

Yelp
Best bagels - Must have cash ! Great service. Quick turn around after you order -

Kimberley O.

Yelp
Great bagel place ate here 3 mornings in a row out (convenient and yummy) definitely recommend
google avatar

Gregory S.

Yelp
I am pleasantly surprised to find a PLACE better than #callyourmother in DC, The bagels are fresher the prices are better and the people are normal. I would say if "ya don't want to spend 20 for a bagel" check it out. I was reading the Audrey R review, Bagels are made by boiling them and that is the way they are made. She is obviously not a real eater of bagels, her review is that of a chicken finger generation eater. Bagels are not supposed to be light, this is not a tricuit, it should break the floor if you were to drop it. There was more than enough cream cheese this was like a Montreal bagel it was a nice thing. the grill is great the food is served fast.

P K.

Yelp
Thank you to the person who pointed out that they handle the bagels with the same hands they use to handle the money. I observed the same thing today. Using tongs would be an easy solution, I don't know why they don't use them. It's a shame too, since these are the best bagels around, soft like NY bagels. I hope they make the necessary changes before the health department observes that.

Max H.

Yelp
Best bagels in dc (and any other city I've visited) . Small and fresh and not too dense like many others. Great cc too
google avatar

Sonya H.

Yelp
It may look like a tiny, humble, hole-in-the-wall store from the outside, but Bagels Etc. is truly worthy of being known as one of DC's best bagel shops. It's one of those hidden gems that only DC locals know about, with their inconspicuous storefront, vague name printed in the most standard of fonts, and cash only policy. But taking a leap of faith and stepping inside is 100% worth it. Their bagels are baked to absolute perfection, with the most incredible slightly crunchy outer crust and beautifully spongy, chewy interior. They have all of the classic flavors you could ever ask for, whether you're looking for a savory or sweet option, as well as a few unique choices like their spinach bagel (it sounds weird but I promise you, it's incredible). As far as toppings and spreads go, they have all the classic cream cheeses and a few veggie toppings for my vegan and lactose intolerant friends, as well as a series of sandwiches that you can try. I personally love topping a savory bagel with avocado and veggies and then grabbing a little tin of their hot sauce...it's such a perfect way to start the morning! The bagels are a little bit smaller than your average bagel shop bagel, so if you prefer a larger breakfast in the morning, I would definitely go for two (or, as weird as it is, one and a half bagels...maybe come with a friend and order three so that each of you can have one and a half?). There isn't a ton of seating available inside the shop -- just a couple of small tables by the kitchen, one by the front counter, and then a few right outside the front door -- so be prepared to have to take your order to go. I usually pass by this spot on my way to work, so it's the perfect place to stop for a mid-week pick-me-up.
google avatar

Judy W.

Yelp
Not only was the bagel and lox delicious, but the people are incredible. I went a few weeks ago when I was in DC for a work trip. They are cash only and have an ATM in the store. I didn't have cash or a debit card, and the owner said I could come back to pay for it later. I told her I was only in town for a day, and she said that I could just come back and pay her next time I'm in town. Was really so touched by her trust and generosity. I will definitely be going back to pay them back, and to get more bagels!
google avatar

Anusha K.

Yelp
Rumor has it this is the best bagel spot in DC, so I had to try it! My friend and I ordered and split a jalepeño cheese bagel with egg, cheese, and a hashbrown and a french toast bagel with honey walnut cream cheese. We received our order incredibly fast! Only slight downside is they are cash only. My favorite bagel was definitely the jalepeño cheese bagel, I thought it was a pretty balanced breakfast sandwich (especially with hot sauce) and pretty filling! I especially liked the hashbrown with the rest of the ingredients and it was a great vegetarian breakfast option. The french toast bagel was also a delicious sweet option and went well with the cream cheese. I thought the cream cheese to bagel ratio was also spot on. The bagels weren't as crusty as I expected, but had a nice chew and tasted fresh. I thought the bagels we ordered were a good size and were worth the price! Would definitely come back here and try more of the menu.
google avatar

Sung S.

Yelp
I had a great experience today! Ordered the everything bagel with lox spread and sprouts along with the pastrami and cheese on the everything bagel. Amazing! Quick and easy food to grab. My initial thought was to turn around and go home because of the line. It was huge. But I decided to wait and it was a good decision. The line goes by quick. Service was fast. Ingredients were fresh. The bagel itself was very filling too. Oh, it's cash only so make sure to grab cash (or there's an atm inside).
google avatar

Benjamin H.

Yelp
This tiny bagel shop, bakes its own bagels and offers a wide variety of bagel sandwiches, including breakfast and lunch items. The service is super fast, even if there is a long line. A few tables and chairs out front on the sidewalk, offer a place to sit and eat in the great outdoors. There are several tables and chairs inside as well. A restroom is conveniently located at the back.
google avatar

Allison I.

Yelp
This may not be the trendiest or most aesthetic stop, but it sure does have the best bagels! I have tried a good amount of their vegetarian options (pizza bagel, egg and cheese, cucumber cooler) but my go-to is the Super Bagel. The Super Bagel has plain cream cheese, sprouts, onion, and tomato. I usually get it on an everything bagel and it is perfect! They have hot sauce and pepper packets on the counter, so I always make sure to grab some of those to put on my bagel. This is such a good combo that when I visit other bagel shops, I custom make a bagel to make it similar to the Super Bagel. (Cash only, this bagel is $5) Most recently I ate my Super Bagel on the Jalepeno Cheese bagel and it was not as good. I think the toppings affected the cook time because it was a bit doughy. Always stick to what you know, I guess! I always take out-of-town guests here and everyone loves it. Definitely a weekly spot for me, especially in the warmer whether when I can take it to-go to eat in Dupont Circle park.

Trevor G.

Yelp
DC has little to no bagel shops and this is basically the only place I can go to get a bagel. The bagels are good, fresh, crunchy on the outside, and soft on the inside. I am giving three stars because the staff rushes you like their life is on the line. It's cash only. The bagels are good but every time I get mine its sloppily thrown together, cream cheese is super thick in one spot and barely any in the next. The real reason why I am giving 3 stars is because the woman taking the money also grabs the bagels with the same hands she's touching disgusting money with. Saw another woman bare handed grabbing the eggs, lettuce, etc that were going on someones bagel. Idk I feel like you should wear gloves. Its good but I think they could be nicer and not handle food with the same hands that handle money.
google avatar

Liliana S.

Yelp
The bagels are fresh and coffee is decent. Delicious jalapeño cheese bagel. They have a whole wheat everything bagel so I tired that with egg, cheese and turkey sausage. Delicious. I went back the next day for another one it was that tasty! I'm addicted!

Hannah K.

Yelp
Worth the hype! My husband and I walked 20 minutes to get breakfast! Priced on point. Cash only.

Aqeel T.

Yelp
Fresh bagels and bagel sandwiches with super fast service but one should expect to wait in a small line which starts inside the restaurant. They have seating indoors and outdoors as well. I tried the japapeno bagel with egg and cheese which exceeded my expectations. Highly recommend!
google avatar

Sabreena S.

Yelp
Loved this little bagel shop! We stayed in the hotel right across the street and it was so continent to walk over to pick up our order! Highly suggest calling in your order and picking it up from the front of the line but the service was top tier! The location is perfect the street wasn't too busy for a Sunday morning and there was plenty of flavor in this bagel sandwich!
google avatar

Hailey R.

Yelp
My favorite bagel spot in DC! On the weekends, there will be a long line for this hole-in-the-wall spot. Don't worry -- it moves quickly and is well-worth waiting for. The bacon egg and cheese sandwich on an everything bagel is my personal favorite, but you can also customize with plenty of bagels, cream cheeses, and toppings to choose from. Limited seating, with a few tables indoors and a few seats on the patio. Bring CASH as the restaurant doesn't take card!
