Bahr opened in the lobby of The Reef building, and I was excited since I work nearby. I tried the Aleppo Pork Bowl when they first opened ($18 in January), and wow--it was incredible. The flavors work so well together, and the pork is outstanding. I craved this bowl! By early February, the price had jumped to $21 (around $24 after tax), which was steep but still worth it occasionally. However, I noticed today that the bowl is listed online for $20, raising questions about pricing discrepancies.
Now for what really upset me today. A few weeks ago, I grabbed an iced vanilla latte (16oz) for $9, which seemed high, but I was told the system was adding extra fees, and the cashier even offered to refund me $2. No big deal, told him keep it as tip. Today, I ordered the exact same drink, and again, I was charged $9. This time, I was told vanilla is an extra $1.50, which is new, but fine--I had already paid. Then, while waiting, I saw the barista pour Coffee Mate French Vanilla creamer (yes, the store-bought blue-label kind) into a cup of ice. I thought, there's no way that's my latte... but sure enough, it was. $1.50 for a splash of Coffee Mate? For a latte? That's beyond disappointing. The first time I had this drink, it was actually good, but this? Not okay.
Overall, the inconsistency here is frustrating. The pork bowl is still amazing, and I might return for it eventually, but today's overpriced, lazy excuse for a latte really turned me off.
