Yelp
I love Thai food and Japanese, and while I initially was sceptical of a restaurant that combined the two and still had such an expansive menu, I was hungry one night and decided to try this out - and good thing too!
I love Bai Plu! It's one of my go-to Thai restaurants - in my top 3 in almost all of LA county, which says a lot.
They actually listen to me when I ask for Thai spicy for their dishes.
I usually get:
- Pad thai: Pan fried rice noodles with egg, ground peanuts, bean sprouts and green onion. $15.99
Yellow Thai Curry: Yellow curry paste with coconut milk and potato. Spicy. $15.99
- Red Thai Curry: Red curry paste with coconut milk and bamboo shoots. Spicy. $15.99
- Green Thai Curry: Green curry paste with coconut milk, bamboo shoots, green beans and Thai eggplant. Spicy. $15.99
- Prig Khing: Stir-fried fresh green beans with Thai spicy curry paste. $15.99
- Spicy Chicken Coconut Soup (Tom Kha Goong): Spicy chicken coconut soup with mushrooms, galanga, lemongrass, lime juice and chili. $9.99
- Larb Salad: A choice of ground meat mixed with dried chili, onion, lime dressing, roasted rice powder and mint leaves, served with fresh vegetables. Spicy. $15.99
- Crying Tiger: Grilled tender beef steak slices served with spicy lime sauce, mixed with dried chili, onion, and rice powder. $16.99
- Pork Jerky: Deep-fried dehydrated pork served with special Thai spicy sauce. $15.99
Everything is fresh and when I ask them for Thai spicy (), they truly do try to make it spicy!
The sushi is decent quality too, if you do want to opt for that; it's not an omakase nor a dedicated sushi place, so keep that in mind, but it is decent sushi.
Service is friendly and the food comes out fast - whether you do dine-in or take-out.
Ambiance is a mix - you could definitely do a romantic date night, solo dining, or a bigger get together; I believe they allow you to rent out the restaurant for private parties too.
Pricing is rather fair, especially for the quantity that you get! It's cheaper than other Thai restaurants for me.
I can't speak for parking as I've always walked here, but from the cursory glance I've given it, it looks like street parking, although I'm not too sure of that either.
