The 11 Best Bakeries In Nashville - Nashville - The Infatuation

"The millionaire shortbread at Baked On 8th deserves its own statue. Sure, it won’t look like much, but we can all stand there and salute over the cookie-dough-like shortbread and freaky creamy caramel. There’s so much more in their building-length pastry case, too, like intricately decorated cookies and hunks of almond chocolate chip pound cake baked in muffin tins. They’re known for their cakes, so if you have a celebration, this is a perfect spot to order a custom one. And if your celebration is that you made it through Tuesday, just grab an individual slice, like the strawberry one with tons of fresh fruit flavor." - ann walczak, bailey freeman

If you’re on the hunt for the perfect birthday cake, look no further. This spot absolutely nailed it. The cake we ordered was not only beautifully crafted, but genuinely delicious moist, rich, and just the right amount of sweetness. You can tell they put real care into what they do. It made the celebration feel that much more special. I’m already eyeing the rest of their dessert menu for my next visit. This place is a gem, I’ll definitely be back!

Google
I was looking for a local bakery to find something gluten-free to satisfy my sweet tooth, and came across this gem. The parking lot is kind of small but we were able to secure rock star parking on a Saturday!! Unlike most bakeries, this one actually stays open a little later. The building is adorable and the smell that hits you when you walk inside is delightful! There were two (I think) beautiful cases filled with all kinds of goodies, cupcakes, cookies, muffins, bars... only a few gluten-free free options but most places don't have any or they're gross. But they had a Puppy Chow cookie and it was so good. BUT for the non having celiac folks (lucky) you're in for a REAL treat. Forgive me if my names are wrong but we also got a Hello Dolly (which the hubby says is to die for) a bourbon peach poptart of sorts and a galaxy brownie? I only know that the Hello Dolly is right... the other two are my best guesses. 🤭 But don't be greedy, I promise the brownies and bars are big enough to share due to the richness and sugar high. It took 2 people 2 days to eat 1 Galaxy brownie. And they look pretty! I can't tell you how pricing is, due to the fact my eyes said "PRETTY!" and stomach said "YUM" so I assume the pricing is similar to other local bakeries? I guess you'll just have to find out for yourself!

Google
Thank you for having a vegan option. We greatly appreciate it. The peanut butter oat bars are delicious. Everything Baked in 8th looks amazing.

Google
Tried a variety of baked goods and brought them home and they were all lovely with a cup of coffee! The standouts were the sausage and cheddar scone, cinnamon roll, and pop tarts, but everything was tasty. Can’t wait to try more!

Google
We continue to use Baked on 8th for our cakes and LOVE every one we have had. They are easy to work with and the cakes are AMAZING! Everyone at my birthday party this weekend wanted to know where we got the cake because they all said it was the best they ever had.

Best organic baguette in Nashville. Delicious bread, pasties, and lunch!

Google
I love baked on 8th and it’s my go to spot for any treats or cakes! I do wish they would have better/larger boxes for the cakes. They typically come with the top open which can make it difficult to travel with. I wish they’d upgrade the size a bit.

Jerry Martin

Google
Went to try and get some vegan pastries while in town. Google had you at to of the list with vegan options, so disappointed when I arrived there was only one option(tho it was delicious). And the"new girl" as far as she knew that is all they ever did. Was so ready for the road trip back home when something.

Yelp
Fabulous and delicious, and owned by a woman ( and also visit her eclectic store next door- "Electric Mixer")!!!! We moved near Baked on 8th just before Covid and order from here often. Sadly, they closed for remodeling and are still pick up outside only as they await some interior design products to arrive before reopening. The online menu is easy to navigate , text the number once you're in the parking lot to the left of the building and they will quickly text you when your order is ready. We craved the Jewish apple cake (our fave) at 5 pm on Saturday but they were long sold out so instead got a slice each of vanilla almond cake and strawberry. Huge slices and delicious warmed up. Nice folks, great cakes, brownies , cookies etc. but mostly look forward to them opening up again so we can come inside and see all the treats for ourselves!! We keep coming back!!! You'll love it too!!

Yelp
Almond cake- 8/10 ( a little frosting heavy, maybe add fruit to cut the sweetness- blueberries or strawberries or something tart) Sugar cookies- 6/10 (delicious frosting but heavy on the doughy taste) Lemon bar- 10/10 Blueberry lemon scone thing- 4/10 (super doughy not super flavorful) Loved it overall & I'd prefer local over like Crumbl but I would say include your ingredients for allergies. I bought two cakes that day (one because i found out the recipient had an almond allergy) and I told them that. They allowed me to purchase a new cake and then AFTER (I'm now $100 deep in cakes) they texted me that their facility COULD have nut cross contamination. So... yeah...

Yelp
I love this place! I've ordered multiple birthday cakes and all have been cute and tasty! You can order online and pickup usually within a few hours or the next day. The price isn't that much more than a grocery store cake and the quality is so much better!

Yelp
Yassssss! Don't snooze on this place. We got 2 pieces of cake - vanilla almond and confetti, snickerdoodle cookies, rice Krispy, blueberry pop tart, and chess pie squares. The only thing that wasn't stellar was the cookies. They were kind of hard. Everything else was phenomenal. The cake looked dry, but it wasn't AT ALL. I didn't eat my piece until the next day, and it was still perfect. The chess pie squares were good. The pop tart was divine. I got it because I read they're known for these, so I had to try one. So glad I did. Just amazing. Husband said the rice Krispy was awesome. The online ordering process was really easy. Don't miss out! The parking lot is really small, and it's off a busy road so hard to pull out. Maybe there's parking in the back.

Yelp
Wow I cant believe I haven't reviewed Baked on 8th. Actually I can because the 5+ times I've been I always eat everything before I can even take a picture. Currently it is getting renovated, but the online order system is seamless and we always get our bakery items within 5-15 minutes of ordering. We have had a few different things from there but my favorites would be the oreo dolly, galaxy brownie, and a slice of birthday cake. They have a ton of options from muffins, cake, scones, cookies, brownies, and plenty of other "dessert bars". Prices are reasonable, and I highly recommend grabbing some for a party or after a dinner date.

Yelp
Their cake is the BEST. So delicious!! No complaints. They always get it right. This was a vanilla cake with chocolate icing - so rich, creamy, perfectly balanced in flavors.
google avatar

Yelp
I've been here only twice. Here's what we tried: Cosmic brownie - nothing to run home to, it was not better than box brownies, Carrot cake - my MIL did not like it, she said the flavor wasn't that of a classic carrot cake, Jewish apple cake - I thought it just ok but my husband did not, he felt that it was a bit on the dry side, Strawberry cake - MIL said this was better than the carrot cake but she wouldn't want it again because it did not taste like any strawberries were used. The only cake that was good was the chocolate ganache, the texture of the cake was very soft but it wasn't anything I'd go back for. Can't speak to the service nor the establishment because the interior was closed for renovations the two times I've gone.
google avatar

Miriah J.

Yelp
I've been coming here since they opened; their treats are always the best. I just wish they'd open the doors. I swear It's been 4 years... since Covid. I placed an online order & then as I was pulling in I thought crap! I want to bring my neighbors a treat but I didn't want to place another online order - sometimes you just need to look to know what you're feeling! I'd definitely spend more money in there if I could see everything again.

Yelp
The selection is limited but the food is good. The privilege of getting baked goods without all the preservatives is enough for me to satisfy my sweet tooth.

Angela C.

Yelp
This is by far the BEST bakery in Nashville, TN and the surrounding areas. I am a Nashville native and an ecstatic they are finally open again to customers coming inside their establishment. You must try anything they make. It's all delicious!

Yelp
This place completely screwed us. We went in a few days ago to buy some sample slices with the intent on ordering a 70 person cake. We bought slices of cake and decided it would be fine and returned to place our order. We were told to make sure that we ordered two weeks out because they were busy. It's more than two weeks out today and they completely blew us off......because they're too busy. No remorse, no nothing. so we're SOL. They won't honor what they told us. Keep up with this business practice and you won't be as busy as you are right now. Not cool, careless and callus.

Yelp
It was my first time ordering a cake from this shop, and it won't be my last! I placed the order at 9am thinking it might be awhile until it was ready, but they had it prepared by 9:12! I was able to pick it up in the afternoon, and their pick up process is simple and straightforward. Just text them you are there, and they place the cake on a table outside for a quick grab. The cake itself was perfect! It was so cute and loved the decorations. I had them put a little custom sign on it as well for $4 more. It was worth it. I got the smallest cake, it said it would work for 6-8 people, but it can definitely be spilt more than that. The chocolate cake was moist and fluffy with the perfect amount of sweetness. The peanut butter frosting was also phenomenal and light. This cake is rather rich, so you do not need a big slice. We have been snacking on it for a few days, and the cake is still holding up so well! Highly recommend this bakery!
google avatar

Musie Y.

Yelp
If you are looking for cake, this is the place to go! Great quality and details on the cake - it is moist and has just the right amount of frosting and filling. I got the cookies n cream and I was very impressed with the flavor and texture of the cake. It was spot on and not too sweet. They do specific and special designs for cakes, but you have to order in advance (~2 weeks) and they can come up with any design. I must say in May, it's a big month with graduation, Mother's Day, and birthday so they need more notice in advance. However, for their standard cakes, you can order the day before 6pm or the day of depending on how many cakes they still have. For now at least, their pickup process is super easy where you text a number that you have arrived and there is parking in the small lot in front of it.

Yelp
We were visiting Nashville for the weekend and were in the need for a kids birthday cake. Found Baked on 8th online and saw that we could order same day cakes. The online site was easy to navigate and included a space for customization. Not only were we able to get the cake SUPER FAST, we also got the custom sugar tag, plates, napkins and a sparkler candle. This is definitely a one stop shop for last minute orders. The best part....the cake was AMAZING!!! The icing had little chunks of strawberry in it. The cake itself was so moist and delicious. If we're ever in the area again I will definitely visit this place again!

Yelp
After passing this place weekly and drooling over sweets and cakes friends have picked up from here, I finally got to try Baked on 8th myself. After a particularly rough week at work, I wanted some sweet treats to cheer myself up and ordered some goodies online for same-day pickup. I was impressed that they said my ordered was ready within 5 minutes of placing my order. Parking pro-tip: pull past the building on the left side and there is a small parking area attached to the left side of the building. People come and go quickly, so there always seems to be plenty of spaces here even though the lot is small. The inside is undergoing renovation, so when you arrive, you text a phone number to let them know you've arrived and they will bring your order to you outside. The ordering process itself was so quick, easy, and Covid conscious (staff also always wear masks), it guaranteed a repeat visit for me! The sweets themselves were divine. My favorites were the pb Rice Krispie and the millionaire shortbread but I honestly loved everything. The coconut mini pound cake is not to be missed - super nuanced and perfect hint of coconut without being overpowering. Definitely adding this to my rotation of favorite place to treat yourself. I hope to also try one of their insanely beautiful & creative custom cakes in the future -- prices are super reasonable here!

Yelp
I absolutely love Baked on 8th! Their online ordering process is so easy and the cakes are delicious! Don't get me started on the rice krispies...oh my goodness so good! Yum!

Yelp
Pecan pie was delicious! Best ever and the pie we always buy for holidays.Baked on 8th is under a remodel but customer service was excellent. Person meets you at door and baked goods are bagged, tagged and ready to go at promised time. Easy to get in and out in busy area.

Yelp
What a delightful and delicious adventure I had at Baked on 8th! My taste buds embarked on a joyride and my funny bone got a tickling too. Let me tell you, this place is a real treat for the senses! The staff greeted me with smiles so bright, they could've powered a comedy show. If laughter is the best medicine, then these bakers are the ultimate healers! Now, let's talk about the star of the show--the cake! I ordered a cake of pure paradise, and boy, did it deliver. With each forkful, my taste buds did a happy dance, celebrating the perfect balance of moistness and flavor. It was as if the cake had whispered to the ingredients, "Hey, let's have a party in someone's mouth!" And party they did, leaving me in a state of euphoric yumminess. The cake itself was a work of art. I couldn't help but admire the craftsmanship that went into every meticulous detail. The frosting was so light and fluffy, it practically levitated off the cake, teasing me to take another bite. And the decorations? Well, let's just say that Picasso would've been jealous of the edible masterpieces adorning my slice. But the true icing on the cake, quite literally, was the humor infused into my sweet treat. As I took my first bite, a joke materialized out of thin air, leaving me chuckling and almost spitting out my cake in the most elegant manner imaginable. It was like a stand-up routine happening inside my mouth! Who knew baked goods could be so witty and entertaining? To sum it up, Baked on 8th is a haven of delectable delights. It's a place where your taste buds party like there's no tomorrow, and your funny bone gets a well-deserved workout. If you're looking for a slice of bliss, look no further.! Rating: (5 out of 5 cakes)

Yelp
Tried the peach bourbon pie. Absolutely delicious! I want to go back today to buy the whole pie lol

Yelp
Delicious cake & pastries. The cakes are always beautiful. Grateful that they're close to my job to make it easy for a quick pickup!

Yelp
Delicious cake in Nashville! They book up fast so if you have a custom order, put it in fast!

Yelp
I took my husband to Nashville for a surprise 35th birthday trip. Our trip was planned out last minute and was worried I wouldn't be able to find a bakery that could provide a cake so last minute. Baked on 8th was great! You can order for same day pick up and the whole process was super easy. The cake looked absolutely perfect - even the personalized message turned out better than I expected! I chose the 6" Chocolate Peanut Butter cake - it was fluffy, rich, and moist with the perfect amount of detail and icing. I placed my order when we arrived in Nashville at 6pm for next day pickup - at 8am I received a text that my cake was ready! Super impressed with everything and thankful I found this bakery for our trip!
google avatar

Jaleesa J.

Yelp
I have order multiple times from this bakery previously and never had a problem but it seems as the more "popular" they get the quality decreases. I placed a cookie cake order 1 month in advance to feed 20 people and received a cake so small it probably won't even feed 10 people. The cake board is the size that the cake should be. The company charged me $75+ tax for the cookie cake that's almost triple what and actual cookie store would charge. I am soooooo disappointed this was my daughters "birthday cake". *my hand covers the entire wording on the cake that's how small it is
google avatar

Yelp
You don't have to be high to love being baked...on 8th! My wife had been dying to try out this bakery since we moved here and well, when a pregnant wife summons a craving, you make it happen. I showed up unaware that it was preorders only. In a moment of panic I text the number on the signs posted in the parking lot and the friendly associate explained that I could place a online order that would be ready momentarily (phew!) They're online ordering process was super easy to navigate. I ended ordering a Toffee Pecan Chip Cookie, Chocolate Chip Cookie, Brownie, Rice Krispy Treat, and a Salted Caramel Apple Pop Tart. I gotta tell ya, everything was great! My wife and I sampled a bit of each treat. Her favorite was the brownie while mine was the Toffee Pecan cookie. My wife is a baker herself and she was very impressed, in fact, she keeps bugging me to go back. If your sweet tooth is calling Baked on 8th will definitely satisfy your craving!

Yelp
Wow! That's literally the only word to describe this entire experience. I was visiting Nashville with my daughter's soccer team and we wanted to celebrate her birthday. I searched for a bakery and couldn't believe how easy it was to order a cake...literally last minute and it was ready for pick up within 10 minutes. How is that even possible? I wondered if it could possibly be any good and was banking on it being a pre-made day-old cake....wow was I wrong. This was one of the most delicious cakes I have ever eaten in my life. So fresh, so moist, so yummy! I have never had such an experience that was easy, reasonable, pretty and delicious all wrapped up into one. I wish We had one where I lived. I highly recommend this place!!!!
google avatar

Jessica F.

Yelp
Baked on 8th has great individual servings of a variety of baked goods, which I love for variety! We ordered a strawberry birthday cake from them and it was delicious and decorated so well! Only 4 stars instead of 5 because cake was slightly dry and a little pricey (IMO). Would definitely go back again though.
google avatar

Sarah L.

Yelp
Actually one of the best chocolate chip cookies of my life. I got a box of assorted cookies for my roommate's birthday back in February, and I have gone back many times ever since. I heard the cakes are also worth trying!!
google avatar

Christine L.

Yelp
One of the best cakes I've had in Nashville! We ordered the Chocolate Ganache cake and Vanilla Almond cake. High quality and great flavors! Chocolate Ganache: very rich chocolate, flavorful ganache and buttercream. It's not too overwhelming in chocolate flavor. Cake was very moist and not too sweet. Vanilla Almond: Strong almond flavor so if you don't like almond flavored desserts, this may not be for you. I love almond and vanilla so this was the perfect cake for me. Not too sweet, unique flavors. I recommend you to call ahead to place your orders at least a week in advance. They do nice custom cakes as well. You can also place same day orders but cakes are limited to various flavors.
google avatar

Eric W.

Yelp
Caked was a little spendy, but let me tell you it was ABSOLUTELY delicious and my old lady was so happy. Only thing I wasn't thrilled with was they misspelled her name on the cake, but we are used to this type of thing happening because it's an odd spelling so it was no big deal. I DEFINITELY recommend.
google avatar

Xinyi Z.

Yelp
I went to this little bakery shop because I saw the cute wall mural on the outside of their building and wanted a picture lol! I'm glad I went and got some tasty sweets! I tried the fruity pebble rice crispy treat and a peanut butter cookie which I loved! I wish I got to go inside the shop but they only take online orders on Sundays. But we didn't wait long for the order and I got to snap some really cute pics in front of the mural haha. Would definitely visit again the next time we are in Nashville!

Yelp
Good stuff. Great service. We got the oatmeal cream pies and they were pretty good. Would hope they were bigger. Also tried the traditional brownie and it was solid, but I wouldn't get again. We also got a slice of red velvet cake that was good not great and a whole Carrot Cake. The Carrot Cake was quite good. They bring more than the traditional flavors and add in some spice, coconut and something zesty. For a legit bakery cake, that's what I want. Show me why I'm paying extra to get a cake from your bakery, and Baked in 8th absolutely delivered that "extra" with the Carrot Cake. I reserve 5 stars for the best bakery I've ever had. This is not the best, but it's damn good and should not be over looked. Would order more cakes from this place without a second thought. - and you should too.
google avatar

Steph H.

Yelp
Great place to get any dessert you may be craving or looking for. Have tried so many items & while a few of their bars we did not love, the homemade pop tarts here are the absolute best EVER. Seriously hard to stay away from those. They have an easy online ordering system & when you arrive you text the number to let them know you are there. They then bring your order out to an exterior table. There is no entry to the bakery at this time due to covid precautions.

Anna G.

Yelp
This place is amazing!!!!! I needed a cake, gave them a call to ask if they had any pink ones available. They held the pink one for me and added writing and it was ready FIVE minutes later. The cake is expensive for its size, but typical for bakeries like this, and worth it for how convenient it was. Also, it was DELICIOUS
google avatar

Bonnie G.

Yelp
Absolutely incredible!!! The best bakery in Nashville. I cannot stop dreaming about their oatmeal whoopie pies and homemade Poptarts, especially the strawberry ones, though the brown sugar and seasonal pumpkin were delicious too. Easy pickup service. Cannot wait to come back. 5 stars!!!!
google avatar

Maday M.

Yelp
I love their cake we bought a cookies and cream frosting and chocolate cake for Father's Day and it was delicious I'm definitely coming back at this place you got to try it!
google avatar

Kasha W.

Yelp
While visiting Nashville, my husband and I found this spot on Yelp. We ordered the chocolate ganache and strawberry cake. Both were great selections and very flavorful. You won't be disappointed if you select either of the two or both! There's one thing we found once we arrived.. we were unable to go into the store to place our order. With it being our first visit, I would have preferred being able to view our selections before purchasing. While relying on Yelp reviews, this is how we made our decision and this is why we gave 4 stars, instead of 5.

Yelp
I love coming here. There is a large selection of treats from cakes to cookies to brownies. They are delicious! They are renovating right now, but the online ordering works great. I would definitely recommend coming here!!

Cayce B.

Yelp
ordered the confetti cake for my daughter's birthday and it is really good. moist and yummy. Cookies are dry and not worth the price. Service is my issue. They do not want any personal communication. They have signs everywhere both on the building and on the website about not coming into the shop. Say they are under renovations. As a Nashville native, I drive by all the time and they are not under renovations. The same message has been on the door since COVID. They want an extra 4$ to write a birthday message on my daughters cake, and they don't even use icing for this. They use some type of pen and it is written as if on paper. This is all fine until you go to check out on the website (because they wont answer the phone) and they automatically charge you tip. IMO tips are discretionary based on customer service. I do not appreciation this automatic tip calculation when it is so obvious they do not want to have any sort of customer interaction. Frustrating.

Yelp
5 words: brown sugar cinnamon pop tart. Everything I've ever had from here has been amazing, but it's those pop tarts that keep me coming back time and time again. The fresh pastry with the delicious fillings and perfect amount of frosting can't be beat. I've tried a number of different pop tart flavors and they've all been excellent, but I'll always be a brown sugar cinnamon girl at heart. After the pop tarts, my next favorite treats are the bars - specifically the hello dolly and the galaxy brownie. I still need to try out the cakes and several of the cookies! So many sweet treats, so little time! P.S. go early or order online! These treats sell out quickly!

Yelp
This an EXCELLENT bakery which is open Monday thru Saturday from 8 AM till 7 PM & from 10 AM till 4 PM on Sunday. However, this bakery is not open to customers due to Covid concerns. Patrons MUST phone in special orders 72 hours in advance. All standard orders MUST be placed via this business's webpage. There are many desserts that are available for pick up almost immediately after ordering online. Once you arrive, text that you're outside & your order (clad in a paper bag) will be placed on the table beside the front door. (We phoned in our order from the adjacent parking lot; within five minutes our order was ready for pick-up.) Ordering was SO easy! Each dessert category contains photos & prices. Considering the high cost of most Nashville foods, I found the prices rather reasonable. More importantly, the desserts were EXCELLENT-- definitely freshly baked & incredibly good! (The Banana Bread was the most impressive!) We ordered: Millionaire square ($3); Jewish Apple Cake slice ($3.50); Oatmeal Cream Pie ($2.75); extremely sweet Thin Mint Galaxy Brownie ($3.75); & DELICIOUS Banana Bread ($2.75). Supposedly, the big sellers are the Poptarts-- Blueberry, Brown Sugar Cinnamon, & Strawberry ($4.25). Baked & sold here are: 4 varieties of Pies; 6 Scones; 2 Pound Cakes; 3 Muffins; 2 Sweet Breads; 15 Brownies/Squares/Bars; 4 Iced Cookies; 13 non-iced Cookies; 4 Poptarts; 2 Cinnamon Rolls; 3 types of individual Cake slices; & 9 full Cakes that range in price from $36 to $44. A few offerings are GLUTEN-FREE. From the website, you may also purchase cake/cupcake toppers, balloons, & other miscellaneous non-food items. First time EVER purchasing from a website that was so user-friendly...AND... first time receiving 100% fresh & flavorful bakery items. Truly a QUALITY bakery! If I resided in the area, this would be my regular stop anytime I wanted something sweet for company. (All the items free well in aluminum foil.)

Yelp
I ordered a cake Wednesday for the first time and when I opened the box the birthday label was broken and smudged, I was a little disappointed, took away from the Birthday to present a flawed cake for $50, I contacted them and no response via text, the only contact they provide to customers, they should strive for better products and service, will be trying other bakeries

Yelp
Got a fantastic cake, absolutely top notch, last minute. Mother In law got a lovely bday chocolate ganache cake and was very pleased. Can't wait to go back and try all the other cakes!!

Yelp
The pastries were pretty dry overall. The service was good and the workers were friendly. I wouldn't pay money for goods that seemed overbaked. I got two pieces of cake, a brownie, a speciality cookie, and a chocolate chip cookie.

Yelp
Needed a last minute cake for a friend this weekend. We ordered 3 slices of confetti cake and it was ready in minutes. It was an absolute hit! I will be ordering all my cakes from here in the future. Love that they have many day-of options.

Yelp
Amazing cake for a great price ~ can also do same day orders and customize it! Definitely going to be my go to for cakes :)

Yelp
Quick online order and pick up system, quality baked goods. I've ordered here a few times and they never disappoint with quality and aesthetics.

Yelp
This place is absolutely amazing!! My friend said for her birthday, she wanted a cake from Baked on 8th. Me and our other friends came up with a design, and we went with the Cookies and Creme flavor. It came out so good, and the size was a super big! We added the covered strawberries and the Jell-O shots, and they did the rest!

Yelp
Paid $50 for a dry cake. Appearance was nice, but taste was mediocre for the price. Bought it on a whim for a friends birthday while visiting Nashville. I would not purchase from there again when I am back in the area.

Yelp
The custom cakes!! I have no words to describe how good the cakes are from here, and they are great with allergies. This cake is gluten free too!
