Talk about a house DIVIDED!
.
Well, we've tried the few new Pizza joints near the OCNJ area (tried the new-ish hot spot in Somers Point a week ago) and everyone said we had to try Bakeria 1010....So for the last Friday in Lent we did.
.
Ordering was super easy (as opposed to the Somers Point spot). We didn't have to plan ahead, we didn't have to order and pay ahead of time....We just called, ordered, they asked what time we wanted to pick it up, we said ASAP and placed our order. Simple, told us they'd be ready in 25 minutes (called at 5pm on a Friday).
.
We ordered a "Full" Margherita Square pie $38 (ouch) and a round Bianca (White Pie) $25.
.
This is where the house got divided, the boys didn't hate the square pie, but the ladies did. Oh boy did they, and they let us know how much they DID NOT LIKE the Square Pie. Like super annoying about it, almost started a family fight....
.
If you don't like a thick, dense (yet airy) Focaccia bread type of square pizza....Then this isn't for you. However, I appreciate all sorts of pizza and I can tell the craftsmanship that went into creating this dough. This was on the pricey side, but now we can say we tried it. The dough had a nice sourdough flavor, you can tell the dough was fermenting a while. It was cooked nice and evenly, and was very well executed. Just too much $$$ for us....Sorry, but it is....
.
The White Round Pie (Bianca) was the extreme opposite, very thin, but didn't have much crunch to the slice, however it was extremely enjoyable. The balance of cheese and garlic was on point, if we go back, we'll definitely go with a round pie as opposed to the thicker, pricier square pie. Probably try a round Margherita pie as opposed to the thicker square pie.
.
Upon picking up the pies, the girlfriend noted that the inside was very nice, with seating as well as a "slice bar" where you can just grab a slice and try it that way. If you're strolling Asbury, that's the move right there.
.
I think our bill for the two pies was $68 and to me that is just way, crazy expensive for two pizzas, with like zero extra toppings.
.
I'd definitely recommend the slice bar if you're in town. If the place in Somers Point didn't overcook our pie, we'd prefer them. So on one hand we paid a premium for a well done pie that everyone kinda liked but wished it was cooked less, versus this pie that we paid a premium, but not everyone was feeling the thicker style of pie. Either way, for this style, we still prefer the place in Jackson NJ (hate naming names on others reviews).
.
Gave them 5 Stars across the board because they don't deserve to get dinged on price and a house divided. We knew the price going in, we placed the order willingly.....Not their fault we felt it was a bit over priced. They are doing their thing and we hope others try it and make their own decisions as well!
