"Bakeria 1010, formerly located in Linwood on the mainland, has reopened its doors in downtown Ocean City. Tried-and-true fans, and new fans as well, can now enjoy the bevy of unique pizzas owner Mike Fitzick creates, such as the spicy roni featuring mozzarella, San Marzano tomatoes, pepperoni, shaved jalapeno, Pecorino Romano, and Mike’s hot honey and the speck pizza which includes crispy speck, smoked mozzarella, golden potatoes, and cracked pepper. Even though the Ocean City crowds may visit this Asbury Avenue spot for its creative pizzas, the sandwich offerings are equally as amazing — some standouts include the Italian hoagie dressed with fresh veggie toppings, cheesesteak with Cooper sharp, and crispy chicken parmigiana sandwich, served on a sourdough baguette or Rando Bakery seeded roll. And don’t forget to grab a sourdough baguette to go. Your family will thank you." - Kristen Kwiatkowski

Talk about a house DIVIDED! . Well, we've tried the few new Pizza joints near the OCNJ area (tried the new-ish hot spot in Somers Point a week ago) and everyone said we had to try Bakeria 1010....So for the last Friday in Lent we did. . Ordering was super easy (as opposed to the Somers Point spot). We didn't have to plan ahead, we didn't have to order and pay ahead of time....We just called, ordered, they asked what time we wanted to pick it up, we said ASAP and placed our order. Simple, told us they'd be ready in 25 minutes (called at 5pm on a Friday). . We ordered a "Full" Margherita Square pie $38 (ouch) and a round Bianca (White Pie) $25. . This is where the house got divided, the boys didn't hate the square pie, but the ladies did. Oh boy did they, and they let us know how much they DID NOT LIKE the Square Pie. Like super annoying about it, almost started a family fight.... . If you don't like a thick, dense (yet airy) Focaccia bread type of square pizza....Then this isn't for you. However, I appreciate all sorts of pizza and I can tell the craftsmanship that went into creating this dough. This was on the pricey side, but now we can say we tried it. The dough had a nice sourdough flavor, you can tell the dough was fermenting a while. It was cooked nice and evenly, and was very well executed. Just too much $$$ for us....Sorry, but it is.... . The White Round Pie (Bianca) was the extreme opposite, very thin, but didn't have much crunch to the slice, however it was extremely enjoyable. The balance of cheese and garlic was on point, if we go back, we'll definitely go with a round pie as opposed to the thicker, pricier square pie. Probably try a round Margherita pie as opposed to the thicker square pie. . Upon picking up the pies, the girlfriend noted that the inside was very nice, with seating as well as a "slice bar" where you can just grab a slice and try it that way. If you're strolling Asbury, that's the move right there. . I think our bill for the two pies was $68 and to me that is just way, crazy expensive for two pizzas, with like zero extra toppings. . I'd definitely recommend the slice bar if you're in town. If the place in Somers Point didn't overcook our pie, we'd prefer them. So on one hand we paid a premium for a well done pie that everyone kinda liked but wished it was cooked less, versus this pie that we paid a premium, but not everyone was feeling the thicker style of pie. Either way, for this style, we still prefer the place in Jackson NJ (hate naming names on others reviews). . Gave them 5 Stars across the board because they don't deserve to get dinged on price and a house divided. We knew the price going in, we placed the order willingly.....Not their fault we felt it was a bit over priced. They are doing their thing and we hope others try it and make their own decisions as well!

Google
The best sourdough pizza I’ve had especially in the south jersey area! I was blown away by all the amazing slices the formaggioso the buffalo chicken and k pop were all heavy hitters!

Google
This is the difference between an artist & a pizza shop. As a Gozney OG, I had to come and check out Mike's spot. Picked up a square of margherita... It was light, airy and the quality of ingredients were very clear. I think he's using a sourdough starter, but it could be mistaken for poolish as well. Overall very impressed, and will return again.

Google
Bakeria 1010 is easily the best pizza in South Jersey. Mike is a true pizza savant whose recommendations never miss. I’ll follow him around from the pop-ups in Ventnor to Linwood, Philly, and now Ocean City. His quests led me to Burger Buff and it was incredible. I enjoyed the Spicy Roni, Pepperoni, and Burger Buff squares, and each was outstanding. The sourdough crust is perfectly crisp and chewy. Be sure to get a side of king sauce as well. The team there makes you feel like family. Highly recommend!

Google
The pizza is the most unique type on and off the island. Amazing ingredients and toppings make for some incredible options. Mike and Mike make the food and experience unmatched. Don’t forget the KINGSAUCE!!

Best pizza I’ve had in Ocean City NJ! Highly recommend trying it out!!

Google
Early April trip to the shore, and this was one of the few places open. Immediately after walking in you could tell that you were in for some good pizza - it smelled so fresh. He made the pizza from scratch for us, and it was exploding with flavor each bite. The worker there was incredibly friendly and created a really great atmosphere. Honestly, the perfect meal after a long drive to the beach. Would 10/10 recommend.

Google
A MUST TRY! Best pizza in South Jersey! Quality ingredients, interesting toppings, and always delicious! The staff is friendly and willing to answer any questions you may have. In person guests take priority over phone orders, so be patient if you call to place an order or to ask a question! They’ll get to you as soon as they can.

Yelp
Bought the big 18" round pie to take home and reheat for dinner. I loved the rustic look of the pizza and it was uncut which is fine. Plain and simple it's a delicious pie, rates right up there with the most flavorful pizzas I've enjoyed. Dough was great, not a lot of sauce but the flavor really comes through and great cheese. First visit to this location, I previously had a square slice at the Exchange. Very friendly service. Small little restaurant with big flavor.

Yelp
I was searching for a good pizza place in Ocean City, and reviews told me to try this place. The pizza is excellent, BUT even if it wasnt, id still frequent this business. The business owner is a very nice person, and made me feel like his best friend while i was picking it up. And BTW, the pizza (i got a large rectangular) must have weighed 5 pounds, and that's no joke. I normally can eat 4-6 pieces from other establishments, BUT after just 2, i was "filled to the gills". And yes, i know that was a cliche.

Jamie M.

Yelp
Not your run of the mill boardwalk slices! Carefully developed dough with toppings that leave you satisfied and very full!

Rose D.

Yelp
Ordered few different slices of pizzas. They were ok. The chicken on the one was over cooked and dried. Pepperoni was ok. They were like $7 a slice. Service was good. Probably wouldn't go back, but just my opinion. Few seats to eat in. It is a small place.

Steve Z.

Yelp
Ordered the sausage and pepper pizza square. The crust was excellent and you can tell, the proprietor uses high quality olive oil. Disappointed there was no sauce on the pizza, so it was a bit dry. Two girls at the counter while friendly looked like they had trouble with the cash register. At $44.00 a pie, I won t be back. Too many other options on the island.

Max P.

Yelp
Went in on a slow Tuesday afternoon for a few slices and a cheesesteak to go. Counter service was excellent and the storefront was both small and inviting. The cheesesteak was absolutely terrific. The bread was soft and stable, the cheese was melted to perfection and the steak was chopped very nicely. The slices of Pepperoni (square), Pepperoni (circle), & buffalo chicken (square) were some of the best pizza I've ever had in Ocean City.

Yelp
My husband and I frequently visit the shore from Brooklyn and we've been meaning to try Bakeria forever. Finally made it today and wow! We are two very different pizza people -- he's a classicist who loves a simple Margherita slice (and he's an overall Ny pizza obsessive); I'm a non-crust-eater who loves toppings -- and we were both totally impressed by the Sicilian-style slices here. Above all, the dough, OMG -- it's like the fluffiest focaccia ever, pillowy, not at all as dense and heavy as Sicilian crust often is, and the crispy cheesy edges are heavenly. Perfect amount of cheese and toppings -- he had the margherita of course, me the pepperoni, and I took a mushroom slice to bring back to Brooklyn. Yes, that's how good it is. And don't sleep on the chicken fingers either! Also loved the mini food hall setup where the shop is located -- you'd never know from the street but it's in a cute open layout space w a bubble tea place among other food options. Lots of seating, with some tables outdoors in front.

Nicholas C.

Yelp
Amazing pizza - best in the entire southern shore! Drop by for a slice, but I recommend an entire pie bc you can't eat just one!!

Chris B.

Yelp
Denied service because my daughter is disabled. Told us their "kitchen is closed" on a Friday night at 6:30pm. avoid at all costs if you're disabled.

Keahi R.

Yelp
Not a fan sorry and I love to try pizza from everywhere. We ordered the margarita pizza. Holy geez, so much dough, it's ridiculous. and I know it's apparently sourdough and everything but with this paradigm shift of gluten-free and people wanting extra thin I just don't see this place lasting. I'm even of Sicilian descent, I thought this was overkill way too much to be honest and the chicken fingers were very subpar, with little thin, greasy fries. I'm always willing to try again maybe the Buffalo chicken pizza in order to give a very honest review and I will update on here if anything changes but right now I felt like it was way overhyped. I wasn't even the one that went to pick it up so I don't know how the service actually was or anything which going by some of the other reviews seems to be an issue as well, just the taste / quality was not very impressive. Sorry, just being honest.

Virginia C.

Yelp
I live for Tomatoe Pies. Give me all of this Sicilian goodness. Once upon a time, I lived within walking distant to the Italian market in south Philly There is this one place every weekend that I would stop at before I did my produce and fresh pasta shopping. And there are plenty plenty of pizza and Italianish places on the island and mainland - I mean this is New Jersey?!! But to the get the right texture in crust and the right sweet/savory goodness in the tomatoes is amazing. This place is located inside the Exchange which is a food hall with 6 other vendors, totally also worth just checking out.

Bill B.

Yelp
Just incredible... this place has quickly taken first place in the pizza race on the island..... An easy 5 stars for the best pizza as well as great friendly staff !!

Jody H.

Yelp
Service with a bad attitude! We watched a server deliver a whole pie to a table and knocked over a drink. The server did not apologize, did not offer to clean up, and did not offer to replace drink. Instead stood at the register and had the nerve to stare at the people at the table with a dirty look. No silverware! Not even plastic! The pizza was mediocre. All the excitement and hype is overrated. The shore season is short and if it's only the beginning with July 4th, then how did the employee at the register have time to get a bad - soured attitude already. She shouldn't be in the service industry. Hopefully she's not the owner. Go to a business where they appreciate your business!

Becky S.

Yelp
Went at 7pm and they did not have any dough and thus no pizza. After reading about this place in an article on the Atlantic, I was excited to try this pizza. In the article, the owner describes Manco and Manco as soulless. Manco and Manco may be soulless but this place is dough-less. Update: tried at 1:30pm today (one day later) and they already ran out of dough again

Eric C.

Yelp
We went here on a whim because of an unrelated pop-up in the parking lot. It my first time ever having a tomato pie. It was delicious. Definitely something I'd love to try more of the next time I'm in the area.

Eric D.

Yelp
Walked in grabbed a plain traditional slice. The ingredients are top notch. The crust cooked to perfection. The sauce and cheese really tasty! Some of the best traditional slices I've ever had.

Jill H.

Yelp
Horrible Service. Employees are incredibly rude and do not care about customers. Pizza is overpriced and overhyped. I won't be back.

Stephen F.

Yelp
Not a fan but more irritated that they didn't make the pizzas we wanted. Took it upon themselves to just make 3 of the same. We kept them because all other places were 70 minute wait. They didn't seem to care

David C.

Yelp
Pizza Jew, you sir are doing it right. I first saw pictures of his pizza on instagram and was ecstatic when I realized it's so close to my family home in EHT. I would say the squares are better than the round. The sourdough pizza is crack. I've had almost every slice that is offered and while everything is good, my top two is the pepperoni with jalapeno slices/hot honey and the vegetali. To describe the pizza, it's similar to detroit style but better. One square slice is big enough for a meal. The crust is crispy burnt cheese ends while the center is fluffy, sourdough bread with a nice chew. I heard Mike (the Pizza Jew) is bringing his talents to Philadelphia, and I'll certainly be there.

Tulshi P.

Yelp
I'm giving this place 3.5 stars only because I can never get a hold of them on the phone when trying to place an order. The line is always busy! Not sure how that's possible but I wish they had an online ordering system. I ended up going in person to grab a slice and enjoyed it however I feel it would've been much better if I had ordered a freshly made pie. There always a next time!

George C.

Yelp
Delicious pizza made with love and quality ingredients. Tried a classic cheese pie. Foldable, crunchy, cheesy and the best pizza sauce. Next up was a Buffalo chicken square. Fluffy up top and a carmelized crunch on the bottom. Chunky pieces of chicken at the perfect spice level. My kids loved the pizza as well and went bananas over the Pepperoni Sticks and chicken fingers. Don't sleep on Mikes secret stash menu items! The display case was PACKED with a variety of squares and rounds. It's hard to choose just one. We did not try any of the sandwiches because we went back that night and they were sold out. Yes, we went back it was so good. The sandwiches are made on homemade bread which looked amazing and explains why they sell out fast. Delicious sodas. Friendly staff. This place is a winner. Please open a store in MD. Pretty please.

Shmee B.

Yelp
The pizza is absolutely delicious! I really appreciate that they come up with so many inventive ideas and toppings such as the recent Korean barbecue pizza. This is a very thick focaccia type crust so folks should know that going in. I find it to be really delicious and all the pizzas are crispy and well-made. They have that cheesy crispy crust which I love!

Donald C.

Yelp
BLUF: Delicious! Crust is a wonderful mix of airy and crisp. Must try. We tried a specialty pizza, their burrata-hamburger pizza, and it was decent. A bit of burrata, thousand island dressing, and some hamburger bits. Their mushroom and veggie were excellent. Their pizza crust is so light with a great chew. The crust bottom and sides were also so wonderfully crispy and flavorful. I felt the pizzas were a bit expensive. That's the only thing I can knock them.

Heather S.

Yelp
Good luck if you want to call this place, it is sooo hard to get through. But, the pizza was unlike any other pizza shop I've ate from. It was a very thick pizza, really doughy. The pizza wasn't drowning in cheese nor sauce- which I like. I felt like it had an even ratio of both. The presentation of the pizza was beautiful. We got the fungi pizza and the pepperoni. They are kinda pricy as this box came to around $31. I felt as though the pizza could've using a bit more flavor as the thick dough seemed to take over, but overall a unique shop that I'd try again.

Paul M.

Yelp
This place was good but needs work. Their crust is very nice and crispy but their toppings are skimpy and they have great sauce but it doesn't cover the pizza entirely so you are getting just bread and cheese. It's too much bread to eat it alone and there is no taste to it unless you have some sauce. After all it's called pizza not cheese bread. Not in the best location and difficult to find as it's in a medical building and not a pizza store by itself.

Alicia P.

Yelp
Bakaria I little too far for where I live but after seeing posts about this place, I had to try it for myself. The exchange in Linwood is nicer than Galloway in means of layout. But that will be another review the smell is amazing. Imagine driving home and drooling at a red light lol. Price range is a little too expensive for the amount you get. But!!! They deliver on taste, smell and looks. Glad to have another fun pizza option.

Dan M.

Yelp
Giant, airy, pillowy pieces of pizza. For the size of the slices the price is excellent. The pizza is super crispy. I even ate it cold and the edges still had so much crunch. I do wish some of the specialty pizzas came with more toppings, they were a little sparse. Nice location inside a small food court. Could be hard to find if you do not know the area. Great pizza. Excellent service!

Valeire T.

Yelp
Excellent pizza the cocktails are delicious. All around a wonderful dining experience!

Michael V.

Yelp
It's a real shame this unique pizzeria is relocating. Excellent, artisan pies! The crust is different, but in an amazing way! Airy, pastry/like. The $$$ Is a little steep. But you get what you pay for. And it's a top2/3 pizza in the general area. Speaking of which, poor location for eateries. That was the problem from day 1. Sad. Good eateries bad location.

Colin M.

Yelp
Hands down the best pizza and bread I've ever had. I've had 3 different types of pizza from here and each one was one of my top pizza experiences. I've been to atleast 100 different pizza places over the past decade, and this place is truly the best. The crust is crispy and satisfying, and has great flavor on its own. Premium ingredients and organic flour put this pizza at a higher price than most places, but it's worth every penny. Some pizza places have me feeling tired and sluggish after eating, but not here. The bread is so good, I eat it plain, and often don't make it home without taking a few nibbles of a baguette or slice of a pie. On top of premium base ingredients, the flavor combinations for the specialty pizzas clearly exemplify the creative genius of the man pumping out pie after pie of pizza to die for.

Cara S.

Yelp
What a great place! 10 minutes from Ocean city. This is a must stop to pick up a pizza on dine outside on the patio. The pizza was amazing. Don't forget to pick up a loaf of sourdough bread fresh from the oven also.

Mc M.

Yelp
This is by far one the best pizzas I've ever had. Everything is 100% fresh and made from scratch with premium ingredients. We got half margarita and other half with pesto with pistachio. Never heard of a pesto like that since it's usually made with pine nuts. Both were to die for, the red sauce was amazing, very herby and not sweet. My only suggestion would be to add a couple salads onto the menu( antipasta, ceaser), it would be delicious to have a little salad paired with the pizza. Also has a burnt cheese edge, the best!!!

Manhattan N.

Yelp
Phenomenal pizza and bread. Fresh, clean, high quality ingredients. Top pizza in the area and also rivals NYC places. Really good customer service and the owner is a really nice guy too. I like the square slices more - the crispy edges and bottoms are awesome and the rest of it is light and airy, not heavy so you don't feel bloated.

B C.

Yelp
This is by far the worst run business in South Jersey. When they first opened, the owner practically begged for you to go on all social media praising their product. Fast forward to present, they never answer the phone, they have the most immature, ignorant staff I've ever encountered in a small business, and the product is inconsistent. It's a bit pricey too...which is ok if you're having an all around good experience. But when its hit or miss like this place...not worth it. I will never recommend or visit this place again. PS. I typically do not give bad reviews...but I was so taken back by the disrespect from the staff on my last visit and the inconsistency, I couldn't help myself.

Tyler W.

Yelp
Unbelievable pizza. We ordered the Margherita and half Special which was a Margherita base topped with spicy nduja, crushed peppers, fresh garlic, pecorino Romano and shaved red onions, and then a half pepperoni. We made the trip while we were staying in Ocean City. Very short drive. All the ingredients were fresh and the crust was delicious. The base is a perfectly chewy focaccia and the cheese melts into the sides of the pan to make a crunchy cheesy crust. Very unique pizza.

Taylor K.

Yelp
The pizza was amazing. We were lucky enough to snag two slices of the off-menu lunch only NY style pizza. We also ordered a Margherita pizza, and that did not disappoint. You can taste how high quality the ingredients are. This place is worth a trip!!

Dave B.

Yelp
EPIC - I have been around the United States and especially spent a big part of my travel days in Phila/NJ and of course NY . I am telling my fellow Yelpers that if you are looking for sublime/ mouth tingling/ over the top pizza euphoria - go here now - yes it's worth a road trip of 50 miles. Unbelievable flavors with the Sicilian soft dough crunchy burned cheese crust and this is eating it cold. Had the pepperoni with jalapeño and hot honey sauce - My top 3 pizzas ever - Unreal - Just go get some now

Gina F.

Yelp
Supper tasty, we each had a slice of square pizza and then got a loaf of sourdough before leaving. They have a few vegan options which is super nice and a good selection of breads, pizza, and paninis. There are also a few specials. I think the bread sells out so it's probably a good idea to call if you are after something in particular.

Sam S.

Yelp
It's a little hard to find but definitely worth the search! It is absolutely perfect in every way. Delicious slices of crispy, cheesy, saucy heaven! I can not wait to go back so I can try the breads, panini & every other pizza!

Steve T.

Yelp
Good little place in the exchange market. The focaccia was excellent. I had the mushroom and the margarita. Prices are on par for what you'd expect for the high quality. I'd go back and am looking forward to trying some of the other items.

Pimwee S.

Yelp
You definitely don't want to miss this place when you're in the area! They serve fresh square pizza and freshly made sourdough bread. You can check out what's the special at the board right when you walk into the Exchange. Grab a pint at the bar and grab a slice from Bakeria 1010 and your night is made!

Matthew D.

Yelp
This is the best pizza I have ever had!!!! Every bite is worth the money and time I spend trying to get through before they sell out. I spend every weekend in ocean city and get this pizza every weekend. Also mikes pretty cool. If your in the area I highly suggest stopping. If you can get a square and round pie. I would, because I do every time!

Mark D.

Yelp
If you're looking for something a little bit extra from your normal pizza, this is it. It's delicious and the bread here truly shines through as the stand out feature. Was a bit out of the way, but worth the drive.

P C.

Yelp
Hidden gem with a winning combo: Highest quality ingredients, a staff that exudes professionalism, and a friendly, talented chef/owner. Been there 4 consecutive days and tried various items--from his [standard] thick pizza to his New York/thin version...and the chicken parm sandwich. He "shellacs" the sides of the thick pizza dough with cheese, creating a good "frico" that crackles audibly when you take a bite. Positive reviews on ALL of his toppings, with a shout out to the K-POP (Korean chicken), pepperoni (cupped, as all good roni should be), and Buffalo chicken (homemade delish Buffalo sauce "dressed" with blue cheese before serving to you). I'm from NY and spent time in New Haven eating lots of pizza. This stuff is seriously legit.

Fran D.

Yelp
Really Great crust! Had margarita pizza. Hardly any tomato sauce or tomatoes on four slices 2 pieces of basil. It was like eating focia bread from Carmine's. We were dunking it in olive oil because the pizza was so dry. $12 for a half pie. Which was four slices. Come on put some gravy on your pie!!!

Amanda H.

Yelp
Yo. I know Jersey is known for their pizza but holy cannoli this place is the bomb. I've been about 3 times now and each time is better than the last. Banging staff, awesome owner. Would 10/10 recommend getting your bougie pizza fix from this place.

Mike C.

Yelp
I stopped in tonight to grab a few slices and wow..im blown away. I heard it was great and turns out its amazing. I make pizza, I've owned a pizza restaurant and this place does it right! Amazing ingredients, technique and beautiful pizzas, breads, and house made desserts. I'll be back.

Mitch S.

Yelp
Really solid pizza. I love that they use the best ingredients. These people really care about making quality pizza and you can tell. One of my new favorite local pizza Joints

Frank M.

Yelp
I'd eat this pizza out of a dead raccoons anus it's so good! The square pies are amazing BUT them round pies?!?!?? Best in south jersey fo sho. Maybe even the world ‍
