Bakery By Textbook - Review - Bedford-Stuyvesant - New York - The Infatuation

"At Bakery By Textbook, you can name your price for sourdough, because the Bed-Stuy spot believes that fresh bread should be affordable for everyone. That bread leans slightly dry, but it’ll still be exponentially better than anything you tried to bake during the pandemic. If you live in the area, keep the bakery in mind if you need to pick up a loaf or swing by on a morning stroll for a bacon, egg, and cheese on homemade focaccia, or crunchy espresso toffee cookies. Nothing will blow you away—except the blended tahini cold brew that’s a spitting image of the one over at Edith’s in Williamsburg—but it’s still a solid destination for a lazy weekend morning. Perch on the big, stair-like seats, or take your treats to-go and continue brownstone daydreaming around Bed-Stuy. photo credit: Willa Moore" - Willa Moore

NYC’s New Restaurant Openings

"Bakery By Textbook in Bed-Stuy has a pay-what-you-want bread policy. Possibly to offset this noble business model, they are opening a cocktail bar in the basement soon. This is the bakery arm of Textbook Cafe in Fort Greene, and they’ll also be serving pastries, sandwiches and salads." - will hartman

I went to this cafe with a friend where I ordered an iced latte accompanied by a gluten-free brownie. The brownie was decadent and rich, definitely a highlight of the visit. I got an iced vanilla latte with oat which was good as well. My friend opted for a hot chocolate paired with a savory sandwich, and he thoroughly enjoyed both. The hot chocolate was creamy and indulgent, while the sandwich was fresh and satisfying, making for a delightful meal overall. They have a bathroom, wifi and its spacious with seating.

Wonderful neighborhood gem! I love this bakery, it's sandwiches and especially Chef D'Troit's excellent pizza. The place is a lot of fun. The speakeasy downstairs is uber cute and romantic, and I really enjoy the time I've spent there — whether it was for the weekend BBQs or just to do some writing on a laptop while sipping coffee. Great spot!

Such a gem and amazing find in the neighbourhood. Supersweet staff, the bread and cinnamon rolls are to die for, seriously, this is the REAL DEAL. Coffee very good too and all still reasonably priced. Best bakery for miles, hands down.

The pizza here is sooooooooooooooooooooo good! And for the first time I had a donut right out the fryer - the most delicious donut I've ever tasted! I'm definitely going back, probably tomorrow lol

This coffee spot & café by day and speakeasy by night (weds-sat) is a beautiful addition to the neighborhood! Memorial Day weekend Mixmaster Jacob was serving up fresh frozen cocktails and they weee delish. The brownies are heavenly and enough to last all day. One of my favorite local haunts. Customer service is amazing!!!

Been to their other location multiple times. I had been in the area and wanted to finally try out this new iteration! I got the olive cake and a frozen tahini cold brew. The olive cake was WOW, it was different than all the others I’ve had in the past…in a good way! Plus a frozen tahini cold brew? Say less. Anyways, I’ll definitely be back to try more of their stuff, there’s so many interesting options I must taste.

Not crazy about the cinnamon roll but the evening grab bag is a great deal the pizza is outstanding and everyone who works here has always been kind to me. Great local place, on the newer side but hope it’s able to stay for years and years! they are always figuring out new ways to be community oriented. i appreciate that. thank you.

Places like this are some of the few spots we have that feel like home in BK. The people are amazing, the food is delicious and best of all, I feel like this is a safe space for our community to grow and flourish. They are an inspiration to the community and our young children and adults who NEED to be influenced and socialized around people and businesses that want to embellish in their growth and success. This is a place recommend to NYC natives and businesses all of the time. Pop in and check them out for yourselves. Request to host events with them. Come in and get to know the people behind the flavor!

Yelp
food- the croissant was good! I wished they were serving lunch when I was there- I really wanted to try their food, so I'll go back soon. coffee- delicious! and just the cutest cup. It made me want to take it home to junk journal. it was such a solid latte and a good caffeine boost. staff- SO KIND. everyone was so helpful and friendly. vibe- delightful. I brought my laptop and worked for maybe 2 hours, and everyone around me was kind, I was working at a table with like 4 other strangers and it was great. I want to be back and support this place.

Yelp
I went during their soft launch and almost everything was sold out by the time I got there (my own fault--I'm not a morning person) but I did get my hands on some perfectly fluffy pita and a delightfully chewy toffee cookie! I've been following on Instagram while they built and painted and overcame some hurdles, and they seem super community-oriented. They had a "pay what you want" bread, they don't charge for non-dairy milks, and they ask for input from customers at every turn. Can't wait to try more of their delicacies and for understudy to open

Yelp
Very cute cafe with great coffee, pastries and bread (vegan options too), service, and both indoor and outdoor seating. My running club ended our run here and they were very accommodating of our large group. Someone accidentally dropped their pastry and one of the staff members instantly gave her a new one! They were very kind to us. And love that they have a pay-what-you-can system for bread so everyone can access it. Definitely recommend!

Yelp
Great vibes here! Love the interior design, the enticing baked goods (savory and sweet), and of course the coffee. Bonus points that they're considering offering decaf espresso.

Yelp
What a quaint bakery shoppe! It's so cute inside with riser seating. Was feeling their Lavender Latte-cold, and tried their signature Tunisian Egg Salad sandwich made with their homemade Focaccia bread and sesame seeds. Eat it as is, like the Chef recommends and it was delicious. Perfectly seasoned and the bread was so fresh and soft. A friendly atmosphere and a lovely place to stop by in the neighborhood. Will definitely be back. Support your local businesses! The same business owners of @textbook.nyc have now opened their 2nd location @bakerybytextbook. Thank you @bakerybytextbook @textbook.nyc!!!
