I had the best experience in this shop. Katie L was so pleasant and helpful. I know age is just a number...and being 70 I still had to have a tshirt from this shop. The quality is very good and there were plenty of patterns and colors to choose from. I went in wearing one that I'd purchased there about 5 years ago. The quality is great an durable. Highly recommend this shop.

Hands down the BEST store on the island! Every employee is so friendly and happy and always helpful! Everything I’ve bought here has been great quality and they are constantly getting new inventory. Even if I don’t need anything from the store, I always drop in just to say hi and see all the happy faces that work here! 🩵🌊

Love balboa surf & style. Always come here every time I’m on the island. Has amazing items you can pick up for gifts and has amazing daily surf style wear. The employees are always friendly and the vibe is high in the store. Don’t forget to check out the sales rack!

I love this little shop in Newport. My girlfriend shops here all the time for herself. Although she is not a surfer, but she like the jewelry, shirts and shoes. I purchased her some things here in the past. Love the spot in the downtown area near the beach. Good service and cool place.

Wonderful local surf & gift shop! They have such high quality clothing and unique, fun gifts. I found so much to buy for everyone on my list. Gotta go back soon and buy something for myself. This shop is in the heart of Balboa Island and I just love it. Great gift ideas. The styles are always current comfy. Definitely attracts my vibe. Customer service is amazing. I love chatting it up with Kimmy and her team always show any new merch.

Have to edit my review as I didn't realize leaving honest feedback came with a jump scare. I'm shocked, appalled, and frankly shivering in my boots. Leave a bad review and the owner will personally hunt you down and call you - not to apologize, but to harass you. Not only do you get accused of stealing at this shop, you now get disturbing phonecalls stating they have your personal information and place of employment. Absolutely unhinged.

Absolutely terrible experience. The woman working with red hair accused my husband and me of stealing--for no reason at all. She came at us with the worst attitude, loud and disrespectful, like we were criminals. Then, when she realized she was completely wrong, she muttered the most insincere, disgusting excuse for an apology I've ever heard. No accountability, no real remorse--just a weak attempt to save face. This place is scummy, poorly run, and completely lacking in basic human decency. Do yourself a favor and stay far away.

Katie I believe was her name. I hope I got her name right. Super nice girl. I randomly walked into the shop as I was walking the strip. I found a couple items I wanted to get for my daughter. I just don't know too much about sizes and fashion so I asked for her opinion for my teenage daughter and my child was super happy with what Katie suggested.

One of the best surf shops I have been to in SoCal. Visited Newport from San Diego and stopped by Balboa Island for fun, we went into this store because of how cute the set-up was outside and are so happy we did! The brands and overall look of the store were pretty standard for a surf shop but the prices and customer service really set them apart! The woman working there was so friendly and helpful and made us feel at home rather than like we were tourists. She was always present without crowding us, answered all our questions and made it easy to find everything we were looking for. They also have a lot of options for little ones and souvenirs. Their selection is high-quality and unique so I definitely recommend checking it out if you're visiting from out of town!

The best shop to buy accessories and clothing . I'm shopping for graphic tees,hoodies,and hats.also the shop is well stocked with everything you need for beach or the mountains ;always adding new merch to their shop and website they have good brands and the staff is very friendly and helpful highly recommend this place to do your shopping for vacations and birthday gifts!!

Came in a couple weeks ago looking for something for my boyfriend. The shop was super organized (compared to the Jack's down in HB). Kind of a far drive from where I'm at but it was worth it. The only down side is there isn't private parking, only street parking. I can't remember her name but the girl with brown hair and tattoos was super helpful. Thanks for all your help

My sister and I come with our teenagers to this store every year when visiting Balboa. It has great stuff, and the owners are really nice. The prices are not crazy, and there are good things in kids' sizes as well. We always load up and really enjoy seeing what they have!

I was in dire need of a swimsuit. As a mother it's hard to feel confident in my body these days. When a swimsuit is too cheeky or doesn't cover my cheeks enough is when they gotta go. Did some walking around town and I stumbled upon this glorious balboa gem. Soon I was greeted by this young blonde stud named Ethan. Wow was he charming! He walked me over to the swimsuits with a big smile on his face! And was overall such a sweetheart! With his help we picked out the most wonderful two piece. I tried it on and I felt amazing but it was the reassurance from young Ethan who made me feel beautiful! I feel 20 years younger! I bought two that day and I will be back for more! Thanks Ethan!

If you're looking to Stand Up Paddle board, this is the place to go! First, there's the impeccable service from Dave & his crew - he delivered the paddle boards right to the beach on Balboa Island via a golf cart delivery service! These boards are not your usuable run of the mill rental paddle boards.. Dave is stocked up on top of line boards. First time paddle boarders, MUST take off from Balboa Island. 1. You get great instruction and take off on super calm water. 2. It's sheltered from the major boat traffic in the main harbor. 3. From Balboa Island you can paddle around and explore not only the gorgeous waters surrounding Balboa Island but also - Harbor island, Linda Isle and even that Back Bay without hitting the pesty main harbor boat traffic! We went paddle boarding in JANUARY - we only had to get about ankle deep in the water coming in & out, so i didn't get sopping wet like i feared.

Was visiting from Colorado had a wonderful experience with Sarah and will be back next year

I came to balboa island looking for souvenir T-shirts and hats and came across this store. First of all, the store is so clean and classy. It's organized with an amazing selection of merchandise. They also have fun brands that I haven't seen anywhere around here. Soooo stylish for men AND women!!! Super kind workers too and really helped me find the perfect piece that I was looking for! Highly highly recommend coming here if looking for surf or cute dog merch

First time for our family to paddle board. Justin and Damon were very friendly and helpful. Justin gave us a ride down to the beach and gave us a quick lesson. We were able to explore Beacon Bay and under the bridge over to Harbor Island. Very fun - would definitely do it again!

Had an awesome time here, my friends and I rented Stand Up Paddle Boards for a few hours and cruised the Newport Harbor and Balboa Island area. The boards are brand new, and it was really easy to learn. It was super affordable, and a good time was had by all. Recommend you call ahead. They give discounts if you rent more than one hour.

Best surf shop that I have ever been to! The employees are the nicest people I have ever met! The store has an amazing variety of surf gear and many different brands of clothing to choose from! In all I would take this place over any other surf shop!!!!

I've been to this store only a handful of times. And the only reason I'm giving this any stars at all is because of the wonderful staff. The manager Candace is such a sweetheart and so helpful. The girl with the short blonde hair was amazing and super cheerful. So sadly I've never had a good experience with the owner... she is often very short and rude. The first time I met her I assumed that she was just overwhelmed (there were a lot of people in the store). The next time I had gone in with my friends the owner was there with her dog, he continued to bark at us and jump all over. We politely would push the dog away and go on with our business. The owner quiet literally BARKED at us to not touch her dog and said he's their "guard dog". And continued to allowed her dog to make us uneasy with his sniffing in uncomfortable places. I am an avid dog lover and was just uncomfortable with him clawing at my clothes. In multiple scenarios the owner was the only negative part of the store. Under different ownership I would go back. But anytime I see the store I make sure to not go in if I see the owner Kimmy. Yikes!

Talk about Service! This is the best rental place in SoCal. Seriously. If it were equipment alone, 5 stars. But add in the level of service which is off the charts and far above any and all expectations. I had an All-Star baseball player with me (which they were not aware of.) I live on the island and i asked if i could have the bike delivered to my home and ready to go. they brought me an amazing man's cruiser and as they dropped it off, they filled up my own bike with air and made sure both bikes were in great riding form. They showed an All Star, All star service. Amazed and grateful beyond. Thank you Balboa SUP!!! Tricia O'Connor!

My best friend and I found this fantastic Paddle board rental and beach clothing boutique today! Had the greatest time and best instruction from the coolest employees that knew everything about the surf and paddle board industry. They had the absolute cutest clothes for us and the guys that no other shop in the area carried. We can't wait to come back and paddle and shop again. Thanks Justin for the lesson...your the best!! What a great company, very humble and ready to help you and answer any questions you might have! I rented a paddle board for two hours for $40 and it was well spent! I will definitely be going back and trying their paddle yoga classes!
