"Bamboo Bistro comes from the family behind OC institution Brodard, so plan on adding an order of their famous spring rolls off the bat. But there’s more to get on the table, too. The encyclopedia-like menu lists dozens of Vietnamese and Thai dishes like stir-fried noodles, curries, and clay pots, but your priorities should be the wok-seared shaking beef and umami-rich garlic noodles. Bamboo Bistro occupies two full dining rooms, though it's so busy you might still have to wait for a table. If so, check out by refrigerated case up front stocked with matcha flans, banana fritters, and mango sticky rice so you can choose your dessert ahead of time." - Cathy Park

It’s a little gem in the area. The food is delicious and vibe is friendly but a bit noisy during lunch. They have two dining section and we are seated on the newly remodeled area which I like it a lot. It’s a nice place for friend gathering. Parking is free and easy. There is street parking and underground parking in the same building which save time to find a parking space.

All the food was delicious very minimal wait time if you don't make a reservation. Staff was a delight. Only down side was parking, but expected.

Arrived Friday for an early dinner to avoid the crowds. Got there about 530pm and it started to fill up fast. Service was very prompt and friendly. Loved the food, not too salty or greasy. Coconut Shrimp spring rolls were tasty and the Chicken Pad Thai had the familiar flavors which was enjoyable. Also had a small Won Ton Soup and the broth hit all the right notes, delicate and subtle. My wife really liked our side order of egg plant which was cooked nicely and came with a traditional egg roll sauce.

Google
This restaurant is amazing! I left very happy and very full. The meals are a really decent size and the service was great. Our server Ethan was very helpful and helped me in fulfilling my allergy request for gluten free. The food was full of flavour! I have just returned from Vietnam myself and this was the best Vietnamese meal I have ever had. I highly recommended and look forward to returning in the near future. Shout out to our server Ethan, wonderful service and very attentive and helpful.

The food was delicious!!!!! The vegetable coconut soup was so good and creamy, with fresh crunchy vegetables. I wasn’t a fan of this version of Pad thai since I’ve had many east coast versions but it was still very tasty! The service was mehh but the quality of food is worth for the price.

Google
We had pho ca, fish soup. It was so good. Not too much noodles, which is how I like it. We also had Bun with lemongrass chicken. OMG, it felt like home. So good. Excellent serviced. We were here around 4:30pm. There was no waiting.

Every meal was incredibly flavorful and unique! Service was great and it’s a nice environment. The Filet Mignon Red Curry was so savory and delicious!

Yelp
We are staying at a resort nearby and I need some Asian food. Found Bamboo Bistro about 7mins away and it closes in a hour... had to rush there. Driving up, tons of cars parked in front of the restaurant and down the street. We parked almost 2 blocks and had to walk. Glad we had to walk cuz I was so stuff after dinner that I needed the steps. Walked in and there's 2 sides of the restaurant. Looks like there's an older side and a newer side with a bar and a small private dining room in the back. For Saturday at 8:15pm, closing at 9pm, this place was packed. All the wait staff were running around to accommodate the ppl waiting before us and us. We waited about 5mins and were seated in a booth by the private dining room. Gave us a good view of the restaurant and all that's going on. Very nice restaurant! We love the decor. Food was all good. Pad see eww with chicken, a must, Brodard rolls, another must. We did the tum yum soup with veggies, it was ok. Amazing service and fast but they never rushed us. Everyone working was polite and very courteous. Recommend if you're in the area for Vietnamese or Thai food or both.

Yelp
Very good spring rolls here. Texture is soft on outside and crunchy on inside. The sauce really blends well with it. Ordered take out as I was driving through. The service was good. They had some construction when I went so it was confusing.

Yelp
Newport Beach, Ca. My wife brought me here for my birthday. The experience was good. Nothing really to rave about or anything, just above the average somewhat. The ambiance was kind of a too close together crowded feel. They are currently in the process of doubling the space so this situation is probably going to go away. We didn't option for the outside table because of a construction project going on across the street that was operating at maximum volume. We liked everything served, the food tasted very good. I had the filet that came cut up into dice sized cubes soaking in a creamy sauce. The meat was tender with no fat or objectionable chewy gristle like animal product. My wife enjoyed her rolls and she is very picky about them. The service was prompt and efficient, very business like, not exactly welcoming or friendly.

Yelp
Great food coming from someone who's been to Vietnam! Staff were friendly and I love the new remodel. Parking is a pain though

Yelp
This has been one of our go to Asian food stops when we are in the Newport Beach /Corona Del Mar area. Interesting menu in that it is a mix of Thai, Vietnamese, maybe a little Chinese in Korean. This place used to be relatively small and now they've taken over a new space (in addition to the space they had before) which is much more comfortable. When we were there last week, it was very crowded but the service was excellent. They do not have a full bar, even though they are offering cocktails like a Mojito and a margarita, they are made with sake. Anyway, food is fantastic, w/ a BIG menu. The people that own BB take great pride in what they do all the way from The hostess to the waiters and bus boys. Highly suggest coming here. Good luck finding parking.!

Yelp
I came here on a Sunday night and had to wait about 45 minutes to be seated. The restaurant was small and was quite busy, so this made sense. My partner and I ordered eggrolls, springrolls, the crispy duck & garlic noodles, and the Vietnamese crepe. The portions for the eggrolls and springrolls were quite small, but they tasted alright. I was surprised to see that the crispy duck was not pre-cut and I had to cut it myself, which was kinda annoying. However, it did taste pretty good. The Vietnamese crepe was not bad as well. Overall, I'm not sure if I would come back because it was a little pricey for what it was, but I did enjoy my meal.

Ris A.

Yelp
Great spot with excellent service and flavorful food. Everything was bright, colorful and yummy! The ambiance is lovely and clean. The spring rolls were probably my favorite!

Jia K.

Yelp
I have been invited to this place for lunch and dinner several times by different groups of friends. They all love this place and I love this place too! I really love Chicken Pad Thai and seafood Pad See Ew, But I wanted to leave a comment that their Tom Yum Soup is extremely sour, even though I am a huge fan of Tom Yum soup with sour flavors. Overall, I love this place and I'm willing to invite more people to this place :)

Sara H.

Yelp
Love this place! I always get the shaken beef and the garlic noodles. It's small in there but always packed.

Yelp
Bamboo Bistro offers a cozy atmosphere on the fringes of Corona Del Mar (CDM). I happened in for lunch recently and tried some of the house specialties, including the brodard grilled shrimp spring rolls and Vietnamese crepe. The brodard grilled shrimp spring rolls were a savory indulgence, delicately balancing layers of shrimp pate, cucumber, lettuce, glass noodle, carrot, and crispy roll. The server then brought out the Vietnamese crepe, which I was shocked at the scale of, and educated me on the proper technique traditionally used to eat this dish. I reluctantly sliced off pieces of the monstrous crepe and wrapped them in the lettuce to create miniature wraps stuffed with bean sprouts and carrots. I then coated these splendorous handhelds in the sweet sauce. The crepe was impressive, but messy, and it was an enjoyable experience overall.

Yelp
Wonderful food... A fusion between traditional Vietnamese food and California healthful style... Absolutely delicious... Memorable experience.

Yelp
Came in here on a Friday night to pick up an online order and it was an absolute zoo inside. No organization whatsoever, you couldn't tell who was in line for takeout and who was in line for dine-in. Very claustrophobic inside. This place was LOUD. I don't understand how anyone can dine-in when everyone around you is talking loud. There were a bunch of takeout orders sitting behind the counter with very overwhelmed employees who didn't even have time to ask you the name of your pick up order so your food is just sitting there getting cold. Extremely chaotic and lots of room for improvement. We looked at what other people's Yelp reviews were for this place afterwards, we're extremely disgusted when we saw someone left a review because there was a ROACH in their yellow curry which happened to be what we ordered that night This place needs a health inspection!

Naveed A.

Yelp
Absolutely love the food, service and ambiance of this location. They expanded and opened the new side today that's been in construction for sometime and it's absolutely beautiful. They now have their own bathroom and they always have amazing service.

Yelp
Great food and service Skip the egg rolls get the fish filet and skip the expensive pastry

Suze W.

Yelp
I used to love M because the food was always fresh, delicious and people very friendly; however the last couple of visit I wasn't impressed with the dishes. Not sure if they have new chefs are others running the restaurant. I may give it one more try...

Snowflake J.

Yelp
Just go and eat everything! My mushroom soup was so good. Grateful to have been told about this gem in Corona Del Mar... right off of PCH. A small well decorated restaurant with traditional laminated wood tiles telling a story which is how their menu is. To find the bistro, it's catty - corner to the Chevron gas station. The most delicious Vietnamese food. Love their wine menu... ordered Hartford Chardonnay grown in Russian River the epitome of authentic Chardonnays. All dishes are served family style to be shared or take home. I love love this place... we need ten stars!!

Michelle F.

Yelp
Amazing find! Visited Bamboo Bistro for lunch after spending some time in the gardens. We were seated immediately on a busy Sunday afternoon. They have an extensive menu with both Vietnamese and Thai food options (a little confusing since their yelp page says it's a Vietnamese restaurant) but we are not complaining! The food: We started with the Beef Satay- the meat was tender and delicious. Shaken Beef "Bo Luc Lac" which is tender filet mignon, with onions, mushrooms, leeks and bell peppers. It was really good and filled with flavor! Chicken coconut soup- was very delicious and filling. The staff was friendly and attentive! All in all, a good experience.

J Y.

Yelp
One of the best Asian dishes I've ever tasted in Newport Beach areas A must try! Especially the shaken beef and Scottish salmon with basil rice are my favorites

Ruby B.

Yelp
Last minute lunch on our way out of town in CDM and spotted it as we were filling up the gas tank at the Chevron station. Good Yelp reviews brought us in. (I personally would overall rate it a 4.4 after dining there.) Cute place and we sat in the little patio that's connected to the dining room. There's a ton of choices as they have a big menu! I ordered the shrimp with broccoli and garlic sauce. I also ordered the crab and white asparagus soup which was a special. The soup was delicious and just needed an extra sprinkling of salt. My hubby ordered the house fried rice. My shrimp dish was really good. I didn't expect the "sauce" to have an orange tint because it was a garlic sauce, but it must have been from the carrots. Flavors and portion size was good. Kinda pricey but it's CDM. My hubby enjoyed his house fried rice. Ingredients made it look a lot like my dish, but I would have to say his flavors were better because of the added egg in the fried rice. We both agreed we'd come back and try other menu items.

Najeya K.

Yelp
Just had two appetizers here & they were honestly great. The food tasted really authentic & each item came with salad & a sauce to go with your food. The vibes seemed authentic. I'm willing to come back & try some entrees next time ‍

Mark W.

Yelp
Prompt service, fresh food, lively atmosphere suitable for a date or family dinner. Highly recommended!

Shell S.

Yelp
Really good food but I have a major issue with the menu not mentioning seafood ingredients in none seafood dishes. This is a MAJOR ISSUE for ppl like myself that have seafood allergies. The restaurant menu does not note the use of fish sauce in many of their dishes, including the coconut chicken soup and pad see ew w beef. I got lucky that the server heard me mentioning my seafood allergy with the other ppl sitting at our table and I was able to modify my order. To the restaurant, please add this key ingredients to your menu so ppl like myself are not unknowingly ingesting seafood and having a reaction in the middle of restaurant. I ordered a custom dish (chicken basil and eggplant) and it was phenomenal. Pad see ew (no fish sauce) was a bit on the sweet side (I prefer less sweet) but the ingredients were fantastic. I absolutely love love the abundance of veggies. For appetizer we had the edamame dumplings, so good! Can't wait to go back and try other dishes. Highly recommend BB!

Timothy Y.

Yelp
I came here with my coworkers for dinner. The place is very nicely decorated, and it's a very roomy restaurant. I ordered the duck noodle soup, which is uncommon for a Vietnamese restaurant. I enjoyed it a lot, the duck was crispy!

Audrey L.

Yelp
Cute little spot in CDM right on PCH. The decor inside is very much catered to the clientele that would walk in, but their prices are very not overwhelming. As with all these locations right on the highway, parking is always a bit of a challenge. There is an underground parking garage that is free, but limited. The staff were friendly and the food came out very quickly. I had the house special fried rice, satay and spring rolls. All were on par with similarly Thai places, well done but not particularly remarkable in any way.

Sharon H.

Yelp
Healthy delicious options and the Jasmine iced tea was so good. LOVEEEEE this hole in the wall spot. Only locals!!!

ELLIE D.

Yelp
Very consistently high quality food. Some favorites are eggplant dish and Vietnamese crepe. Nice cozy environment. Friendly accommodating staff. There is underground parking.

Valerie Y.

Yelp
Stopped by for some Viet/Thai food on a Sat afternoon and enjoyed it! They have a parking garage in the very back. For three people, we got the Duck Buns, the Vietnamese Crepe, and the Pad Thai. I thought the Duck Bao was fine, I wish they were a little bigger for the price but the meat inside was great. The Vietnamese Crepe was interesting.. don't think I've ever had something like that. It was a bit hard to split and eat but I liked the texture a lot. I think the menu said it was supposed to have pork belly inside but I found some chicken instead (?). The Pad Thai was also good - it came with the peanuts on the side but it seems there were peanuts sprinkled inside since I had a minor allergic reaction later. My fault but I thought I was safe :( Not a bad place to come for a lunch or dinner!

Azizi A.

Yelp
Always a pleasure coming here with the family. A solid menu. Everything is flavorful. Great service. Bathroom are located outside.

Cindy G.

Yelp
We ordered to go and was so disgusted when i came back to my office and saw a roach floating in my yellow chicken curry.

chun-chung c.

Yelp
Atmosphere: no seat available by 5:30pm on a Sunday. So we were seated at a table outside. Service: server is very kind and patience in explaining what they serve. Very thoughtful throughout. Brodard Grilled Shrimp Spring Rolls "Chao Tom": feels like a traditional Vietnamese dish. Yummy! Garlic Noodles with Seafood: sweet with a hint of sour. Very tasty! Shaken Beef " Bo Luc Lac": the best dish we had for the night. Seafood Tom Yum: Thai dish. It's ok for me but not my dish. Lemon Grass Tofu with Vermicelli: i was pretty full by the time we had this dish. Still very tasty. Overall, the dishes were on the sweet side. Will recommend if you are in the area.

Sandy A.

Yelp
Best Vietnamese food in the OC! Exhaustive menu, ample servings that are so flavorful and great customer service. Their take out business is as busy as their fine in service. I recommend their spring rolls, duck rolls, shaken beef, chicken in a basket, wonton soup and just about anything else on their menu. Don't think about it, just go!

Chausterbuffet S.

Yelp
i love the new bigger, bigger bigger remodel place.it has a sport bar . it has about 7 seats at the bar. no more long wait to be seated.

Andyrew Chase's Y.

Yelp
This is my personal favorite Southeast Asian restaurant in Orange County. Everything on the menu is exceptional. Their pork spring rolls are better than anywhere else, curries exceptional, great pho and Pad Thai. But the absolute best dish is the beef Pad See Ew - phenomenal. Everyone that I bring here talks about it for days and looks forward to their next time returning.

Britney M.

Yelp
Just okay. We ordered on Uber eats for delivery. The delivery was on-time with the estimated time. Ordered tofu lettuce wraps and they forgot to give me the lettuce cups..... for the lettuce wraps lol That's a main ingredient. I ended up eating just boring tofu. And the sauce was missing too. So that was a bummer for my whole meal. The mango sticky rice was disappointing. The sticky rice seems old tasting. The mango was fresh and tasty. But the rice was old tasting and they sprinkled too much coconut to cover up the fact that they used old rice. Sad day. My partner enjoyed his food. But I don't think we would order from them again. It was just mediocre.

A B.

Yelp
Just had the Tom Yum soup and chicken with white meat chicken, mint leaves and brown rice. I must say -- the best I have ever had -- and that's a lot of years eating Thai cuisine. Super fresh and tasty. The brown rice was a surprise -- It's a MUST -- EXCEPTIONAL! -- Not your ordinary brown rice -- extremely delicious! And the Tom Yum soup -- Yum Yum!!

Elizabeth S.

Yelp
Food was authentic. Love the salad . Tasted the freshness of mint shallots and soy sauce vinaigrette. Pad see the noodles were so aldente and so mouthwatering. Ordered the crispy sole not too crispy in a sizzling plate but so delicious. The herbs and sauces made it so tempting to eat it all. Be sure be back again once back to Newport. Service was quick Ambiance is so Thailand .

Leslie W.

Yelp
Everything is so delicious here !!!! So fresh and portions are fantastic! So happy to hear about the expansion !!! Much needed ! A little gem in the gem of corona Del Mar ! Everyone is super friendly and you get seated right away ! Haven't had anything that wasn't tasty ! Great ambiance !

Kristen L.

Yelp
Best Vietnamese in coastal Orange County. I could eat my weight in those spring rolls!

Alexandra L.

Yelp
a must have is their pad Thai and cashew chicken. I'm obsessed and service is excellent.

Sammie D.

Yelp
Food is good but ordering online is INSANELY frustrating! Could not find any online menu that had all the items we each wanted to order. They don't have ANY online ordering menu that is accurate, has all the options, or gives all choices for selections shown on the menu. PLEASE UPDATE ALL ONLINE ORDERING MENUS!!

Valerie D.

Yelp
This is one of my favorite places and the food is consistently good. They recently expanded to the space next door, and it's beautiful. It has a bar and additional seating in the new space. Service is great, food is awesome. Try the shrimp coconut spring rolls, chicken coconut soup and Pad Thai.

Ashley Z.

Yelp
I've been coming to Bamboo Bistro for years, and the recent remodel has made such a great spot even better! There's so much more space now, making the dining experience much more comfortable. The garlic noodles are an absolute must-try--so flavorful and satisfying every time. I'm also a huge fan of their soups, which are always fresh and delicious. And I can't forget the ginger tea--it's the perfect way to end the meal. Every visit is a treat, and the new space makes it even more enjoyable. Highly recommend!

David S.

Yelp
Most polite and organized staff in town. Always pleasant, even when super busy, which is often. An uncommon level of conscientiousness and orderliness that makes for a nice experience. The food is consistently delicious and high quality. We've eaten at Bamboo dozens of times for dinner and lunch...always, always very good.

Joy C.

Yelp
Thai/Vietnamese restaurant in CDM next to Chevron across from Gulfstream. There is street parking depending on the time you go. There is also a parking structure in the back. Locals frequent this restaurant. They have fast service and friendly staff who can give recommendations. We ordered satay and spring rolls for appetizers. The satay was really good, while you can skip the spring rolls. For entree we had shaken beef, silver noodles with shrimp, Chilean sea bass and another dish with eggplant. The steamed sea bass was the best. It was perfectly seasoned and the fish was flaky. For dessert we had the mango sticky rice and banana fritters with ice cream. Both were absolutely delectable. Their iced Vietnamese coffee was nice and strong.

Seema C.

Yelp
Easily the best Vietnamese food we have eaten in a while. The green curry and chicken Pad Thai were absolutely delicious. The house jasmine tea was flavorful. We will love to come back.

Vy D.

Yelp
Great food, service, and location! Dishes are creative and a mix of Viet and Thai. It's fancier than your typical Vietnamese restaurant but worth it.

Thomas P.

Yelp
The food and service was great. I highly recommend this place. It was a little tricky to find at first.

Lou A.

Yelp
The best Vietnamese (and other Asian cuisine) I have found in the Corona Del Mar area. Amazing numbers of choices on the menu. Seasonal specialties, such as the asparagus and crab soup I tasted, was outstanding. Went for a lunch on a weekday and had to come back a few days later. The beef pho is "slap your mama" delicious as they say in the South. Vietnamese iced coffee was prepared and brought in a big glass to the table. Perfectly balanced between coffee and condensed milk and ice. Good quality coffee was used. The mango smoothie was perfect. Alcoholic drinks and cocktails are also available. Fresh herbs and veggies were all flawless, fresh, and enough for each dish. Both times we visited we were greeted quickly and seated almost immediately. Table service was friendly, informative, and efficient. The decor is casual and subdued; and easy on the eyes. But come here for the cuisine. There's plenty to try on the huge menu. Everything we tried, was perfectly prepared and very appetizing. Limited street parking is available. Can't wait to come back again and again.
