We were a group of 5 and our server Ashley was great at the beginning. To her credit, she warned us they were short staffed but she'd do her best. The later it got, the more evident the shortage became. Small (but important) things got missed (a cocktail, an eggroll, a fork, a sauce) because we were more than halfway done eating by the time she checked to see how our food came out. She DID comp or discount several items, so that's why still 4 🌟 for service.
The food: 💯 skip the vegetable "tempura". Most were flavorless, starchy yams/sweet potatoes/white potatoes. I'm not really sure what I was eating, but whatever it was, they were panko crusted. When asked about it, she said they'd recently changed it to that but the menu hadn't been updated. Okay, you need to tell people that when they order it. (Comped!)
Everything else was really good, especially the Chilean sea bass! The portion was very small for $42 but it was so yummy that I'd probably order it again. The lobster eggroll was super tasty, but the one I got to-go tasted like someone accidentally spilled the black pepper in the mix. Idk what happened there, but it was almost inedible. Fortunately it was comped. Penny's Rangoon were good.
Drinks, dessert and ambience:
Such a gorgeous patio with lots of beautiful flowers and a living wall. We were serenaded by Ron Gutierrez and his band, and they were THE perfect vibe on a beautiful evening outside. If you like rum, I highly recommend the One Night in Bangkok. So tasty and you'll feel the rum! We had a birthday and they brought out a piece of mango cheesecake that was heavenly! It had small chunks of what I thought were either mango or mochi, or both. My cousin said she'd come back just for that!
