I came here for a girl's dinner last night. I have ordered take-out from here before, but this was my first time dining in. We didn't have a reservation and the place was packed (even the bar seats were taken), but we only had to wait about 20-25 minutes for a table. We were seated upstairs. I loved the ambiance of the place, though I will say it was pretty loud. As far as the food goes, I think it's pretty overpriced for what you get, especially compared to other Thai restaurants in the area (2 lobster spring rolls cost $20). The food itself is ok, though my husband loves the Thai sausage and even asked me to order some.
Doug, I just wanted to respond to your comments and clarify a few things:
I love the idea of an upscale Thai restaurant/lounge. I have been to several in other cities, and I think it's amazing that your family is bringing that concept to KC. I would be more than happy to pay more for the food, if the quality of the food matched the upscale atmosphere. In my opinion, I paid about $5 more for pad kee mao that tasted exactly the same as the pad kee mao I would order from a take-out restaurant in KC. If I came here to listen to some live music and just ordered some cocktails and appetizers, I would be very happy. Of course, this is just my opinion, and I am not a professional chef, food critic, or restaurateur. I know this is a popular restaurant, and one of many popular concepts you have opened in the KC area. I just wanted to say that I stand by my original review. Thank you.
