Celebrate Spring at These Restaurant and Bar Pop-Ups Around D.C. | Eater DC

"To celebrate the arrival of two giant pandas at Dulles and the National Zoo, a nearby venue launched a panda-obsessed pop-up with a themed cocktail menu ($13–$15) that includes a Bamboo Mule with ginger-chile syrup, the “Bao-zy” hot chocolate spiked with bourbon, the “Panda-Colada” with rum, coconut, and lime, and the “Don’t Forget the Red Panda,” topped with red neon dust and featuring lychee and raspberry liqueurs, Red Bull watermelon, and a Champagne float. Select cocktails offer take-home glassware for $15." - Emily Venezky

Wow. I was blown away at how flavorful and delicious my food was. Lots of flavor without being salty. My dish was a perfect example of great Caribbean food. I had the Caribbean shrimp. They have indoor and outdoor patio seating. Great spot for a party or a group of friends. Drinka are reasonably priced. Parking isn't too hard here unlike right down the street.

I have been coming here for over 30 years! The food is still as fantastic as the first time I came! The Mango curry Chicken, Caribbean Shrimp Pizza and corn chowder are still favorites of mine but other items are delicious too!! Chef Jose worked at The Ivy and has improved on some of their already delicious recipes!

Max Crane

Google
Delicious food and drinks! I really enjoyed the salmon, shrimp, and mango mojito.

Patti Martin

Google
This was a delightful surprise! The mojitos and other refreshing cocktails are made with fresh sugar cane juice. WOW! Best mojito ever with authentic flavors no processed sugars so no hangover! All the dishes we ordered were off the charts and the sauces are made by Jose with various Latin influences. Try it you'll like it! Very reasonable prices.

Google
Delicious food at affordable prices with decent portions! Our group of four shared the ceviche, which was fresh and plentiful. I got the Cancun Steak, which was heavier on the sauce than I expected but the meat was tender and flavorful. I also tried the Seafood Paella, which came with a lot of seafood! All the entrees came with rice, beans, and fried plantains. The staff was friendly and checked on us often. The food didn't take too long to come out.

Google
Great place to spend some quality time! Fun for friends, a date or family! Enjoy a swan paddle boat rental!

Google
This was my first visit, and it will definitely not be my last. Everything was wonderful! The salsa is a bit spicy, but rich and Smokey. The guacamole is just right. I tried the mushroom soup for an appetizer, then a margarita pizza for my main course. Both were wonderful! I tried a piece of my friend’s Cancun Steak. I highly recommend it! I’ll be getting that my next visit. I meant to take more pictures, but the food was so good, I forgot. This place is definitely a gem!

Google
Very nice comfortable restaurant. Large inside and outdoor seating. The roasted vegetable soup -$5.00 large bowl, enough for 2 people! . Good seasonings. Yucatan chicken , mango curry chicken and coconut shrimp all delicious and all come with rice, black beans and plantains. We also ordered the coconut flan , which is surrounded with raspberry sauce. Pretty presentation . Our bill came to $83.+ Change. We didn't have alcoholic beverages . Parking available on site . Staff friendly and accommodating. Good date nite restaurant!

Yelp
Venice boulevard has no shortage of inependitly owned small restaurants, mostly ethnic and good. We happened on Bamboo one evening. It was almost empty with a large enclosed patio and reasonably sized indoor area. It has marked parking spaced in the back for those who don't want to street park. Its theme is Mexican-Carribean fusion that it pulls off quite well. The beef and chicken offerings range from traditional arroz con pollo to more adventurous offerings. I ordered a salmon that tasted a bit off;the owner/chef took me into the kitchen where he showed me a beautiful side of fresh salmon and brought it out. This tasted wonderful with a complex, tangy sauce that had some elements of mole but with a citrus base and considerable complexity. A definite find to which we will return.

Yelp
The food here at the Bamboo Bar and Restaurant is top notch - truly phenomenal flavors and presentation. Their mango chicken was phenomenal - juicy, tender, flavorful, and filling! The guacamole was tasty and was served with a side of their homemade salsa which packed a punch of heat. The drinks are made for you to uber home - my caipirinha was made the way that more than one would have had me in some trouble! Delicious, refreshing, and oh so full of alcohol!! The service was slow, and as we were the only diners in the entire restaurant, that was disappointing. The ambiance also leaves much to the imagination - but with flavors this good, I could be sitting on the floor in a dark room and my tastebuds would still be happy as ever. All in all, come for the food, stay for the drinks, and bring a group of friends to keep you company as you wait. An enjoyable experience I'll remember the next time I need a taste of island delicacy here in LA!

Yelp
Love their mango chicken it's the best chicken entrée in Los Angeles! Service is excellent, and a nice variety of drinks

Yelp
First, you can park the car. It is so crazy no parking in the city. We stopped there because that. We saw the restaurant and thought it looks like a good spot. It used to be a fusion food. The food is really good taste, salsa is spicy lightly, the mole of salmon incredibly delicious. The crab cake is perfect. The service is nice, just a little slow. The cost is not bad, $62 for three people. And the ambiance is beautiful, very nice. They gave patio as well.

Yelp
Went to this spot on a Friday night to grab some dinner with my wife. It was later in the evening, like 930, but the place was pretty dead. We started with the tostaditas, which were actually really good. It's just two tostadas, but everything on it was super flavorful and fresh. The pizza and chicken weren't bad but nothing too special. What really put a damper on our evening was the staff arguing most of the time we were there. Not sure what they were yelling about, but it was pretty rude as we could hear the yelling over their loud music while trying to enjoy our meal. Probably wouldn't go back just because it wasn't very welcoming it, but worth it to try the food since their cuisine is somewhat unique. Hope you enjoy!

Yelp
The food and drinks are amazing here. The service was also very good. From the looks of the outside restaurant it looks very small, but it's very spacious inside and definitely a place to have a group or a party of several people. The food is authentic and seasoned very well.

Yelp
This restaurant was closed during Covid, and I thought they were closed forever. Boy, am I glad they reopened! Drinks - solid 5. One of the best cocktails. Food - solid 5. The Cancun steak sauce is so flavorful that I could lick the plate. The Caribbean shrimp hits all the right notes of sweet, salty, and a little bit of acidity. The side of rice goes so well with all the sauces that I wanted to devour another plate. Service - The server was very knowledgeable about all the items on the plate. I highly recommend this place; you won't find this kind of amazing Caribbean food in Los Angeles.
google avatar

Yelp
Back again on a Friday night and can't imagine why the place is so quiet. Mushroom soup filled with multiple types of mushrooms in a delicious broth. Chilaquiles filled with flavor and of course their salmon with mango sauce. Loved the food once again.

Yelp
Drinks are amazing I had to try the sweet lady. A must try! Food is on point. Bartender was so cool to us. The best part was watching the owner come out and make drinks and help the staff out. Very friendly. I recommend coming here for a date night.

Yelp
I enjoyed my visit here. The service was great and very attentive and friendly. The music playing in the background was making want to dance. I am not a dancer. They have both indoor and outdoor seating. It was a nice day so I sat outside. The food was delicious. I enjoy their take on the New York Streak and the salmon. The crab cakes with the pineapple sauce hit the spot. The drinks were on point. They gave us a good buzz. I would definitely recommend this place. It is pricey but I think it's worth it. Good place for a date.

Yelp
I have been coming to this restaurant for many many years and the food is amazing and always consistently delicious! Food- The mango chicken is one of their most popular dishes and is the perfect balance of a lil sweet and savory. This dish is the go to for most of my friends. I always get their BBQ Chicken salad but with shrimp instead. It comes with an array of flavorful grilled vegetables over salad, and I have to tell you for as healthy as this dish is, you wouldn't even know it cause the flavor is out of this world. I could eat this dish every day!! And I love their black beans. They are creamy and delicious. And you must have their chips, guacamole and salsa. Their salsa has a nice little kick and such great flavor than most common salsas. I could drink a bowl of it and like to dip my shrimp in it. Food is always fresh tasting and delivers great flavor every time! Hats off to the chef! Ambiance- They have a beautiful outside patio and is very charming at night when it is all lit up. It's perfect when entertaining guests or have a business meeting. They have heat lamps as well. Very cozy! Staff - They truly are an amazing team! Always friendly and helpful to accommodate any special request if they are able. I've always received great service, which I find refreshing as some places just don't seem to care about the experience anymore. Lastly, I am really writing this review because it is rare to find such a gem these days which consistently has amazing food and always a great time! Enjoy!!

Yelp
We attended a graduation and the food was preordered and served it buffet style. The food was tasty and hot. The plantains were especially nice, cooked until a caramelized glazed covered them. Two types of chicken dishes, curry pineapple and a Mediterranean style. Both were good. Service was nice too. The event was crowded but they managed to clear tables fast and served the people in a timely manner. We'll go back during regular business hours

Yelp
Best food Reasonable costs Great place Nothing better than Mango chicken dish there than anywhere

Robert S.

Yelp
A nice place with good food, but it's way overpriced for the portion sizes. Spent $50 a limeade and small steak.

Yelp
The food, ambiance and service was great. I love this place I have been coming for years.

Yelp
I was pleasantly surprised by this little gem. Bamboo is sort of tucked into a a parking lot off of Venice Blvd. the inside is very clean and nice. It's nice and modern with the perfect dim lighting. Service is amazing, waiters know the menu well and can make recommendations. The food is very delicious. It's Latin fusion so you definitely get the taste of various Latin flavors. Drinks are phenomenal!

David H.

Yelp
Literally a gem. Carribean/Mexican fusion done so well. The service was immaculate and was not overbearing but was always watching. The vibe is upscale but not pretentious or too fancy. Pricing is incredible and an entire family could eat here for less than $150. This is one of those special places that you only know about if you find it on Yelp or live in the area. Stop here if you want to try something totally different. Juan Carlos was an incredible waiter and was so kind. Elevated the entire experience for us and made it such a special night. Pro tip; order the fries and the ceviche. Incredible food all around that feels like you're on vacation.

Yelp
There are four great Brazilian restaurants in Palms/Culver City: Bamboo, Bella Donna, Cafe Brasil, and Pampas. Bamboo is the classiest of them all. This place also has amazing Mango Chicken, and good churrasco. It's a great date night spot, and my grandmother even liked this place. The best part is that they close at 11pm. The music is groovy, and the waiters are all well dressed. This is the best restaurant to go to in Palms after 9pm, and the food is better than any place that I have been to in Downtown Culver City.
google avatar

Matt S.

Yelp
Bamboo has a special place in my heart. My mom used to take me all the time. And in 2024 since the reopening, it's still as amazing as ever! The shrimp pizza, the corn chowder, Yucatan Chicken, Cancun Steak. But the most delicious of them all... the FLAN!!!! OH wait... the MOST DELICIOUS THING... THE MOJITOS!!! They use real sugar cane and this special machine... What a gem of a place. 5 stars.
google avatar

Milani R.

Yelp
The restaurant had a nice atmosphere, but it was strangely empty during dinner hours. The server was very thorough in descriptions and friendly. We got the Yucatan chicken, arroz con pollo, and shared the chips and salsa. The food was subpar. My friend did not enjoy her Yucatan chicken. Wasn't worth it for the prices.

Jennifer B.

Yelp
Delicious Chinese food - so many different items on the menu. Everything is so flavorful and fresh. We have had the Kung pao san yan, dumplings, fried rice and a few other dishes. Portions are generous and you'll have leftovers. Support a local restaurant and go to Bamboo!
google avatar

Felice P.

Yelp
Bamboo is back! We used to love this restaurant, but it was closed during Covid. Well, it's now back and serving the same delicious Latin fusion food as pre Covid. It's a very cozy and intimate place and you never feel hurried. My steak was delicious and my husband loved his mango chicken. We had their corn chowder and thought it was outstanding. If you like Mojito's, theirs is authentic and one of the best I've ever had. If you're looking for a charming, intimate and moderately priced place to eat. This is it. Unfortunately, many of their old customers don't know they've reopened. Please give them a visit. Once you do you'll be back!

Russana R.

Yelp
Good, fast service. Delicious food. Food well presented. Although, it was a slow night for the restaurant. Not many customers.

Yelp
Amazing food in a beautiful ambiance. Most excited that it's open again and been upgraded with new tables and set up

Yelp
Hosted a holiday outing for my team for my employees here. Service was amazing and the food was great too. The ambience was nice.

Dave T.

Yelp
Dined here specifically to try the ceviche. It was good, but a little on the acidic side. A little salt and it did the trick. Also had the crab cakes. They were especially tasty. The owner/chef came out and spoke with us. He was quite warm and personable. The restaurant I'll describe as comfortable/family. Great neighborhood find. I'm going back..

Yelp
Had an early dinner on Sunday night. Walked in and we were greeted by the lady behind the bar. The place was empty so we had the choice of sitting anywhere. We sat in the first dining area, entering from the parking lot. They had a second dining area behind a wall, past the bar. There was also outdoor seating but it was too cold for that. The waitress came by and took our drink orders. I had the Seafood Paella. It was ok. The dish was full of flavor but the seafood wasn't the best. BF had the Arroz con pollo. Lots of fat left on the chicken bits. He was concerned that it was been microwaved due to the heat of the food and plate. Friend had the Mango chicken. No complaints there other than the garnish. Inedible salad on the side under the plantains. We didn't see the waitress again and the guys needed a refill. So one of them got up and walked over to the second room to ask for refills. Another gentleman appeared and got the drinks. The waitress came back to offer us some dessert. We were just ready for our check. I did take a picture of the check because I'm always curious as to how some establishments are able to jot down the price per item and then others don't. They did charge for the chips n salsa. Chips were stale :-/ First time here but also the last. No reason to go back if I wasn't a fan the first visit.

Yelp
Eight of us went to Bamboo to celebrate our daughter's birthday and food, service, cocktails and ambiance is wonderful! We loved everything. The ceviche, mango chicken, salmon dish, carne asada. Yummy. Our waiter was very accommodating! We highly recommend it.

Yelp
So glad to see this restaurant is open again! Their mango curry chicken is amazing - always a favorite!!!

Matthew C.

Yelp
My girlfriend and I ordered the mango chicken & the Cancun steak and both were absolutely incredible. Best food we've had in a long time! The service and ambiance were also a 10/10.

Brian A.

Yelp
Best mojitos in LA. hands down no one else can compete when they are making fresh sugar cane juice in front of you.

Ryan N.

Yelp
This place is very underrated. Exceptional food, especially the mango chicken and my girlfriend got the steak which she loved. Great and quick service too. Would definitely return and this has become one of my favorite hidden gem restaurants. Great ambiance and vibes.
google avatar

Yelp
The food is great! We had corn soup and chicken milanesa, both very tasty. The cocktails are good too. The service was excellent.

Yelp
Food is delicious is hard to make a decision with so many variables delicious plates, the drinks are the best in town very refreshing and tasty, service is great very nice friendly staff. The ambiance one of a kind.

Yelp
Creative dishes you think you know but better! Had been by it but never stopped in until a friend booked our meeting there. Well, he is a good friend who shared the secret. More expensive than I thought, worth it for a special occasion.

Barb. G.

Yelp
The food is amazing. They have a full bar and a great bar. Also outdoor dining. Very good indoor dining area. The prices are reasonable and again the food is excellent I highly recommend Bamboo Four

Yelp
Awesome place, really good vibe. Food was super tasty. We had a good dance in their patio too.

Yelp
This is the spot!! Honestly, everything about it was 5 stars. We started off with their crab cakes and the featured mango ceviche; delicious, fast, and so fresh. The server walked us through the menu, including all of their featured specials of the day which all sounded amazing. I tried the mango mojito and the Brazilian mojito; the mango one was just a little sweet for my liking but still excellent and the Brazilian one was heavier on the lime flavor (less sweet) and I loved it! Next, we ordered the shrimp special of the day which came with a delicious rice pilaf, vegetable medley, and a shrimp and veggie large skewer in a delicious salsa verde, plus plantains. This dish was a great sized portion, definitely could share this between 2 people, and it was absolutely scrumptious. We also had the shrimp pizza, also great, and finally the coconut flan. I definitely recommend this spot to anyone and I will be back!
google avatar

S J.

Yelp
Oh my god! This place is absolutely amazing. I couldn't stop talking about how amazing it was while eating and drinking. We had the mango chicken and the cancun steak and they were to die for especially the Cancun steak I couldn't stop eating it. We had a mango mezcal margarita and it was AMAZINGGG it's not on the menu but definitely ask for it. I also got the margarita that has Tajin and it was WOW. This place is awesome
google avatar

Kimberly L.

Yelp
This is my favorite place for soft shell crab. Everyone is very friendly. Planning to go back soon.
google avatar

Katrina S.

Yelp
Found this while we were in a pinch. They had great service and were so excited to help us. I got a shrimp dish which had great flavor but the black beans were my favorite! We also ordered the vegetable soup which had a lot of flavor with zucchinis.

Gabby L.

Yelp
Delicious food and drinks. Nice ambiance and location. Friendly service. Would return.

Yelp
So thrilled Bamboo reopened. We dined here for the first time since the pandemic last week, and it is still the same amazing food with flavor my wife and I are not able to find anywhere in Los Angeles - we eat everywhere! There is no Caribbean Latin fused restaurant better than Bamboo!! We have been coming here for 30+ years with no negative experience, ever. The owner/chef cares about what is prepared for your table and always friendly and accommodating. LOVE THIS PLACE, so go and indulge your taste buds!
google avatar

Estefania S.

Yelp
Wow outstanding service, food was delicious and came out lightning speed. Granted it was not extremely busy but the employees kept busy the entire time. No standing around or being lazy. Love it, will be back. Latín/Caribbean food I got the chicken milanesa

Yelp
Amazing newly renovated restaurant in west Los Angeles 90034. A unique fusion restaurant serving Mexican Latin and twist on pizza and steaks. The drink and beer menu is superb. The service and quality of food is high level. A must try of you're in the area. B
