I was excited to read the news about the opening of the first Bamboo Room by Trader Vic's in Miami, knowing that I'd be in town the following week. I'm happy to say that tonight was the night I was able to visit, and it definitely lived up to expectations.
First off, this new concept is not a typical Trader Vic's. This is a cozy and casual space off of a courtyard behind the Esme Hotel (of which it is part). Think tropical rather than tiki. You won't hear any Martin Denny or other Exotica (it wasn't on the playlist tonight at least), but the drinks are top notch and the crew behind the bar will do everything to make sure you have an enjoyable evening.
In addition to traditional tiki drinks, you can also try one of several house cocktails that are inspired by Trader Vic's locations around the world (past and present). We tried the El Polinesio and the Park Lane. Recommend both, especially the latter.
I can't say enough good things about the folks behind the bar, especially Alexander. He took great care of us tonight, and I look forward to our next visit. ral house cocktails that are inspired by Trader Vic's locations around the world (past and present).
