12 Best New Bars With Great Cocktails in Miami

"Trader Vic’s has a history that dates back to 1930s Oakland, California, but the most recent iteration of this tropical bar is hidden on Española Way in Miami Beach, inside the dark, swanky Esmé hotel. Paying tribute to the chain’s near-century-long history through Polynesian-style tiki drinks (the founder of Trader Vic’s is said to have invented the original Mai Tai in 1944), every cocktail is inspired by a different city of the brand’s past with the menu passport stamp to match. With 20-plus cocktails on the list, the El Polinesio is a must. Best described as a tiki-inspired effervescent daiquiri with a mint infusion, this drink evokes El Polinesio, a bar inside Havana’s Habana Libre hotel, which was once a Trader Vic’s (and is still pretty perfectly preserved to this day). Drinking with a group? Get a $60 Scorpion Bowl for four." - Allison Ramirez

Six Miami Restaurant and Bar Openings You Might Have Missed - Eater Miami

"Trader Vic’s Hospitality Group has opened Bamboo Room at the Esmé Miami Beach Hotel, bringing tiki cocktails to South Beach. The 1,000-square-foot space, including indoor and outdoor seating for 50, draws inspiration from the original Bamboo Room that opened in Oakland in 1934. The drink menu pays tribute to various Trader Vic’s locations throughout history, with cocktails like the London-inspired Park Lane and El Polinesio, which nods to the brand’s former Cuban outpost. The bar shares space with Sushi Bar, allowing guests to pair drinks with omakase. Led by CEO Rhett Rosen, this marks Trader Vic’s first Miami venture, with the bar open Tuesday through Sunday from 5 p.m. until late." - Olee Fowler

Cozy speakeasy vibe tiki bar, hidden behind the main restaurant section of Espanola Way. Part of the Esmé hotel village it’s a great place to come for happy hour. Fantastic cocktails and comfy interior. Our only complaint was that the bar opened 30 minutes later than advertised so we had to wait around for the bar staff to arrive. Assuming that was a one-off event we’ll definitely be going back.

We went here twice in 4 days. Tried 10 different bars around miami beach and this one was hands down the best of them all. Ray and Toni are running a stellar show at this tiki bar. The crafted cocktails are the best along with the speakeasy vibe, good music and atmosphere just make it the perfect place to hold meaningful conversations while sipping on liquid love.

The legend of Trader Vic’s lives on! Tucked away inside the courtyard of the Esmé hotel, you’ll find this new secluded and cosy cocktail bar that opened its doors last Friday. I was lucky enough to be there! The cocktail menu has clearly been curated and created with care, even featuring a special cocktail to commemorate the Trader Vic’s Park Lane, Mayfair/London location, of which I was a big fan! The London location but now also its tea inspired cocktail! The staff were super friendly and accommodating and the other cocktails I tried were great too. There’s something to everyone’s taste. The atmosphere was really nice too, I’ll definitely be back when I visit Miami again!

Beautiful cocktails and lounge. A gorgeous tiki-inspired interior with the best cocktails I had in South Beach. Located inside the Esme Hotel, it's a romantic and quiet spot that not many people know about yet! Highly recommend the Edo Daiquiri. The mango foam was so delicious that this drink is now my favorite cocktail I've ever had. The bartender was also kind enough to make me a Piña Colada (not the featured "It's Not NOT a Piña Colada" version).

Google
fantastic bar , cocktails really well made and balanced , atmosphere was perfect vibes, nicely tucked away from the busy street of espanola way, still in heart of the action but has a nice hidden vibe where you can actually talk and hear each other- bartenders were really great, loved it here. the prices were on expensive side and gratuity is included as most places in miami these days , it was all worth it here unlike many locations in south beach. 100% recommend, we will come back again !

Google
We were very excited to stumble across a Trader Vic’s bar in Miami Beach as we love visiting tiki bars across the US. However, we were left disappointed as first we were greeted by super loud house music care of a DJ by the front door and then by waiting 15 minutes for a server to approach us for a drink order after being told to “sit anywhere”. We left after being ignored and when a large group started dancing as if the small bar was a club instead of a chic and cozy tiki bar as per the website.

Yelp
Great cocktails & really attentive service. My drinks were delicious, but watching how even a simple G&T was poured with care , what kind of tonic do you like, one lime or two. Shout out to Shawn for making the evening special

Yelp
Bamboo Room by Trader Vic's was located in the hotel we stayed at, so naturally we had to visit. We love a tiki bar! The interior is beautiful and there's plenty of comfortable seats and patio seating outside too. We came two nights in a row during our vacation. There was no wait and our server was really attentive and friendly. Happy Hour is a good deal to enjoy some well-crafted cocktails. If you have the inKind app, you can also take advantage of a $20 off $60 deal during your visit!

Yelp
This place is a must! If you want a great and unique cocktail, come here. The ambience is nice, making one feel like they are on a private resort. Also, the service! Wow! It was great! Our bartender Antonio was absolutely fantastic. Will definitely be returning here.

Yelp
Tucked inside the Esme Hotel awaits Bamboo Room, for your drinking pleasure. Formerly El Salon, the vibe is chic mid-century modern tropical tiki cabana with a touch of class! I don't think you can go wrong with any of their cocktails on the menu. Presentation and flavor profiles were on point. Great place to start the night or end up. Space is small but there are many tables. They don't have bites yet but there will be in the future. Love love loved this spot! You will too!

Yelp
We came here to kick our night out off while staying in Miami before a Bahamian cruise. We were made specialty cocktails and even an off the menu mocktail. Incredible vibes, lovely service, would come back here in an instant!

Yelp
I was really looking forward to visiting the Bamboo Room as it is a new variation of Trader Vic's. The atmosphere had the Polynesian theme. It was not crowded at 5:45. Unfortunately, the Mai Tais were not like any other Mai Tai I have been served in Trader Vic's locations. I was disappointed. Currently, no food is served this establishment. I probably won't return as I like my Mai Tai prepared the way that Trader Vic's recipe is known for.

Yelp
I was excited to read the news about the opening of the first Bamboo Room by Trader Vic's in Miami, knowing that I'd be in town the following week. I'm happy to say that tonight was the night I was able to visit, and it definitely lived up to expectations. First off, this new concept is not a typical Trader Vic's. This is a cozy and casual space off of a courtyard behind the Esme Hotel (of which it is part). Think tropical rather than tiki. You won't hear any Martin Denny or other Exotica (it wasn't on the playlist tonight at least), but the drinks are top notch and the crew behind the bar will do everything to make sure you have an enjoyable evening. In addition to traditional tiki drinks, you can also try one of several house cocktails that are inspired by Trader Vic's locations around the world (past and present). We tried the El Polinesio and the Park Lane. Recommend both, especially the latter. I can't say enough good things about the folks behind the bar, especially Alexander. He took great care of us tonight, and I look forward to our next visit. ral house cocktails that are inspired by Trader Vic's locations around the world (past and present). Yelp
I can see the appeal of this place and maybe I had gone on an off night. The inside is nice and drinks give you a tiki bar vibe. I always enjoy a craft cocktail. But the music was SO unbearably loud my ears were hurting.

Yelp
Raymond the bartender made our night in Miami beach unforgettable. Incredibly friendly and exotic cocktail whiz! Made us feel like regulars not first timers. Beautiful small space pretty hidden inside hotel. Glad we visited and sat at the bar! Thanks again Raymond, Lin & Marci.

Yelp
Stopped at the Bamboo Room as I enjoy Tiki drinks. Atmosphere is definitely Tiki, drinks were well made and service was great.

Yelp
So glad someone told us about this gem! Great atmosphere, good drinks from Mai tias to expresso martinis! Aloha

Yelp
Exquisite cocktails. Immaculate environment. Exceptional service. Alex at Vic's provided the best experience of our entire Miami trip. The Bamboo Room is in the heart of the strip but is significantly secluded from the normal tourist riff raff (ourselves included) while giving us exactly what we were looking for in the intimate Miami nightlife experience. Selfishly, I don't want to expose this spot, but I'd be remiss not to give them the credit they deserve. Well done Alex, and tip of the hat to another great Trader Vic's experience.

Yelp
Beautiful space for elevated 'tiki' cocktails and attentive and knowledgeable service from Alexander. I'll be back for later-night music!
