"Bamboo Sushi is opening a new location in Lake Oswego on January 9. The restaurant will feature familiar menu items like sushi rolls, nigiri, and sashimi, along with new additions such as pan-roasted trout and unique off-menu specials. The venue will emphasize sustainability in both its seafood sourcing and building design. The restaurant will also have a warmer aesthetic with Japanese influences, featuring wood tones, natural greenery, and art by Portland-based photographer Corey Arnold. A sprawling patio with over 30 seats will be available by summertime." - Alex Frane

I always come to Bumble Social every time I’m in Lake Oswego it’s one of my favorite spots! The menu has great options, everything is fresh and delicious, and the tea is always so good. I love the vibe here. You can sit outside at the cute tables, enjoy your meal, and watch people walking around this beautiful area. It’s the perfect place for a relaxing meal or a social outing. After enjoying the food (the fresh fish and social plates are amazing!), you can even stop next door for some ice cream and take a lovely walk around the neighborhood. Thank you so much for always taking care of us. I’ll definitely be back again and again!

Great place for sushi lovers! Always fresh ingredients, polite staff and cozy atmosphere. I recommend trying the salmon roll - it just melts in your mouth!

Google
I had a perfect dinner here and all of the food was amazing. The highlights were the cauliflower, the shrimp tempura and the hot honey chicken. The service was great and atmosphere was as well.

Google
What a treat to experience a packed restaurant and still get delicious food in a timely manner, plus the burger hit the spot for those non-sushi lovers. But back to the sushi, what's not to love about the green machine. I could order all 3 varieties and be completely happy! Start your meal with the cauliflower and savor each morsel!

BAMBOOZLED This trendy spot has fantastic service overall. I love that they take reservations or you can come in early without one and generally get seated. The happy hour has some good discounts on it and it’s my “go to” spot to take my vegetarian/vegan pals to sushi due to the numerous non-fish options they have. Bamboo is not an authentic Japanese experience and you shouldn’t expect one when you come here. It’s a Japanese fusion place that specializes in saucy sushi creations. The fish is the same fish every sushi spot in Portland gets theirs from. Absolutely nothing special about the fish they use IMO. They just charge a pretty penny for the presentation and exceptionally tasty sauces they slather on their rolls. Green Machine sauce is something seriously special and I will buy it “to go” next time I’m in. Unfortunately, the quality of what they bring out to their customers waivers greatly from visit to visit. We love the crispy rice dishes when they aren’t stale. They prep the crispy rice ahead of time and they often taste like they were made days prior to being brought to a table. Luckily the fish is added just before serving, but it’s playing “CRISPY RICE ROULETTE” every time you order one. UPDATE I’ve now had the smashed avocado crispy rice twice in a row and it was FANTASTIC both times. They may have fixed their “quality” issue and it’s worth mentioning here. UPDATE 2 Continuing improvement noted and this last trip was FANTASTIC!

Food was okay. It took forever to get seated even with the reservation. Once we were sat and ordered almost immediately we were sitting there waiting forever just like all the doordash drivers. That's how much time we had to sit and wait. I think it was 45 minutes. Three separate servers came over at 10 to 15 minute intervals. You could tell the one that took our order went off for a smoke break or something. As things got later and later You can see them skipping our tables. Sure, it was a nice place for a date but I really and truly don't have any desire to wait long enough outside and that are a shady table became sunny and then shady again. My dinner companion actually showed me how to figure out which way was North using a twig we found on the ground and showing how the sun patterns moved. Overall I'm going to Safeway again for sushi because it's really not that much better.

Google
Fresh sushi!! The service was great! We came in towards closing and they were so patient with our table. Presentation was beautiful . We sat outside on one of the best spring days! Definitely going back

Bamboo Sushi in Cedar Hills, Oregon, is a delightful spot for sushi lovers. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, making it a perfect place to enjoy a meal with friends or family. The menu offers a fantastic variety of fresh sushi options, and the quality is consistently top-notch. The staff is friendly and attentive, ensuring a great dining experience. Overall, it's a must-visit for anyone craving delicious sushi in the area.

Yelp
Went to lunch the other day. It was my first visit to a Bamboo Sushi. It wasn't very busy and service was good. The restaurant had an industrial feel so did not feel cozy. We ordered sushi rolls and they were tasty.

Meagan L.

Yelp
I'm not a fan of sushi, but this place has a good burger and other non-sushi options as well! Today I tried the garlic chicken, and it was good but holy cow it was SPICY! I did not expect it. The quality of the chicken wasn't great either. The green beans were delicious, but I am unwell because of the spice. I hear the sushi is really good though, haha.

Alisa G.

Yelp
I love cheap sushi. And I really love expensive sushi. When I'm able to indulge in the latter, Bamboo is one of my favorite spots. This was my first visit to the LO location, and it did not disappoint. Between the impeccable service and the gentle treatment of some beautiful fish, it was a perfect meal

Jeffrey J.

Yelp
My server Ella was such a sweet heart she saved me in a dire situation of my need for sushi and drinks! One time she went out of her way to help save me of imminent threat. She put her life on the line for me!!! Goes to show how far she will go for you! There won't be a big enough thank you for her! Love her to the TEAAAA 5 stars isn't enough for this place!! 1000/w0 service! And wait time! Bestest ever!

Marylyn T.

Yelp
What a cute Bamboo Sushi location. Very open and nice interior. Good service! We got Edamame and Miso Soup to start. Can't go wrong with these. We also got Chicken Kaarage to share. Very juicy with good flavor. For sushi, we got the King Salmon nigiri which was good. Very buttery, tasted fresh. We got Friday the 13th which was a spicy salmon rolled topped with albacore (forgot to take a picture). That was really good I'd get it again! I minus'd a star because our Crispy Tuna Rice was stale. The tuna was covered in their poke sauce which was tasty, but I'm disappointed about the rice being cold. I made sure to eat this dish first too since it's supposed to be hot, so not sure what went wrong.

Yelp
This. Place. Slams. I crave this place even while I'm eating here! I usually make a quick same day reservation so that it's easy to come in and get seated right away. They do a very steady business, but it's worth the wait if you don't have a rez. Bamboo is a mid-sized place with nice tables and a great sushi bar you can sit at if that's your thing. It's snugly placed in the middle of downtown Lake O with street parking and easy access from the parking garage. I have always had great service here, and I do admire the dedication to sustainability and the ethical sourcing of the food they serve. Try the crispy rice plates - they are not to be missed! Every roll I have tried has had a unique flavor profile, balanced textures, and a beautiful presentation. This is a staple in our Lake O rotation, and it should be yours too!

Yelp
Bamboo sushi is by far the best takeout sushi I've ever had. I ordered the Big Island roll (tempura fried shishito peppers, avocado, kanpachi, lemon, fried shiso, yuzu kosho dressing) and the Friday the 13th roll (spicy salmon, cucumber, avo, seared tuna, spicy aioli, eel sauce, tempura crunch). As a lover of nigiri and salmon in particular, and as someone who avoids veggie sushi at all costs, I decided to take a risk with the Big Island roll and I'm so glad I did. It was one of the BEST things I have ever tasted, and was a unique combo of flavors I've never quite experienced before, and quite literally compelled me to write this review months later.

Yelp
I've always thought that Bamboo Sushi was a decent sushi spot to go to when in doubt so, when I got to Lake Oswego and the restaurant I was planning to go to was closed, I stopped by here. Fortunately, Bamboo was still open so my friend and I dropped by. After getting seated at the bar, we ordered a couple menu items. Staff was super kind but for some reason, when we visited 3 things were dropped at different times and broke behind the bar (which made me question the service quality?). The food came out not too long after. The edamame and the handroll was alright, and I really enjoyed the nigiri. The fish were all pretty good but I've had better experiences at the location on 23rd. All in all, it was a pretty good place to stop by and Bamboo is always reliable, but if I were to recommend a location, I would recommend the one on 23rd.

Amr A.

Yelp
Hands down favorite sushi/Japanese restaurant in LakeO/greater Portland. Amazing food, menu options and service.

Christine H.

Yelp
I loved Bamboo sushi! I do not have a location nearby and I was excited to check it out after a few locals recommended! The crispy rice and green machine were soooo good! I overall found the fish to be high quality was well. We did takeout but the order came quickly and we enjoyed the atmosphere of the place while waiting for our food to be prepared, I would definitely come back!

Mr F.

Yelp
This review is a bit late, but here goes... Great ambiance, love the location and interior is well done. Lighting is much better than the NW location. Server, for the life of me can't remember her name. But she was great explained all the specials and her favorites. Edamame was done well, nice touch with the chili oil crunch and Shichimi Togarashi!!! My Salmon nigiri flight was excellent and the Chirashi bowl was outstanding!!!! Hats off to the Sushi chef!!! I'm a classically trained Sushi chef, so it takes a lot for me to be impressed. Great Job overall!!!

Mari B.

Yelp
This is a popular place. Luckily we only had to wait 15 mins since we wanted the sushi bar because table wait was 1 hr. The front staff and wait staff were all fantastic and courteous. Every roll we ordered was delicious. Fan of their spicy tuna over crispy rice. Warm house sake was good. Unfortunately they were out of Japanese draft beers so that was a bummer. Also down a bathroom, so you had to wait in line, but food and staff makes up for this glitches that happen.

Windy B.

Yelp
Staff is very knowledgeable about food allergies and made several suggestions for making things not only gluten-free, but also avoiding shellfish, sesame seeds, and nightshades. Nice dine-in ambiance and fast takeout if they are crowded on a Friday night.

John P.

Yelp
The food was very good and the service was adequate. Fun drinks and a cool vibe. I've been a few times and will definitely return but can't help but feel there's something missing.

Thuy N.

Yelp
Staff is really great and welcoming. The green machine is a must try! It's so delicious and flavorful. I really need to come back. It's so good. I am so happy there is a location in Cedar Hills area. No more hassle w the downtown parking

Mary V.

Yelp
I spend a lot of Friday evenings here after my Pilates class down the street, but apart from a couple standout dishes, the food is pedestrian and overpriced. It always busy and often my friend and I have to wait a few minutes for a seat at the bar. The people who work here are really nice and professional, especially considering how busy they get. It is one of the very few places with a happy hour until 6 even on Fridays! (I don't know when it starts, sorry.) That and its proximity to the Pilates studio make it a regular haunt for my friend and I. But I wouldn't come for any other reason. The miso cesar salad is top notch, as well as the tempura cauliflower. Truly showstopping dishes!! And the poke bowl is good as well. The happy hour chef's nigiri sampler was boring, overpriced, and disappointing. Decent sake; not the best but for a $5 carafe I'm not complaining.

Stephanie C.

Yelp
Highly recommend grabbing a seat at the sushi bar! There's something about eating a super fresh piece of King Salmon nigiri with yakumi right after it's been prepared. The salmon just melts in your mouth. My must order nigiri are: - King Salmon with yakumi - Scallop (seared) with yakumi - Hamachi - Uni -- I always order, but they never have it (*; I also enjoy the Chase the Dragon roll and the Full Circle roll. If raw fish isn't your thing, or if it is your thing but you want something more filling, the Wagyu Burger is actually really tasty. It comes with two big tempura onion rings and a delicious momiji aioli. The Happy Hour selection is good too, and great if you're balling on a budget! (; Make a reservation if you can, because there's usually a wait!

Yelp
Celebrated a couple birthdays with some delicious sushi! I haven't been to Bamboo in a long time, and this was my first visit to the Lake Oswego location. Cute decor, very hip. We made a reservation and were seated immediately. Our server was attentive and remembered a dish that was slow coming out of the kitchen. Actually, most of the rolls were very slow to come out, not sure why. But when they did, we pretty much inhaled them, they were that good. We started with their new hamachi sizzle, which was quite spicy, and an order of gomae (spinach with sesame), which I loved. Gotta get my greens in. Then the family went wild and we ordered: The Unicorn roll Full Circle roll Hoki Poki Box - dang this one got a bit spicy but yummm 2 crispy rice spicy albacore Spicy tuna rolls Not a cheap meal but the fish was fresh and overall it was a wonderful birthday meal!

RJ A.

Yelp
The food is Amazing. Wife and I are eating on our 4th roll and she's already full. We've had the Smashed Avocado Crispy Rice California Roll Shrimp Tempura Green Machine All 4 are bursting with flavor and the staff is awesome and Keanu helped us with our orders just perfect. The atmosphere is sooooo relaxing and calm here. Perfect place to relax. I wish I would have taken pictures of the food before I wolfed them down. Okay, I wasn't done I guess. Just ordered my/our5th roll. I'll add a pic of this one.

Steve S.

Yelp
I wanted to pay on cash. They told me they don't accept cash. it's illegal in Oregon not to accept cash.

Alanna Q.

Yelp
This is a fantastic sushi place for the adventurous and the cautious. They had some really cool sushi I'd never seen before but also had the classics. We did a mix of these rolls between the 3 of us. The waiter was really great at recommending this blend to us. We had the best time eating and drinking outside in the summer air!

Ammara T.

Yelp
So I've never been a big sushi fan but this place did not dissapoint! We got here on a Friday evening and were able to get seated within 15mins. The staff was friendly and accomadating. We got the Miso soup as a starter which was very flavorful along with some edamame which had a spicy garnish. For our Sushi we got the unicorn, california rolls, and the shrimp tempura rolls which were all delicous and a lot for 2 people. Honestly would have been fine for 1 or 2 plates. Oh and we also wanted to try the chili garlic chicken so it was a lot of food overall but everything was very fresh and flavorful. They didn't have many dessert options but they have a Salt and Straw right around the corner if you're feeling something sweet afterwards. Overall a great expereience! We paid around $70 for all the food and still had some to take home. Also tons of parking on the street and garage and its free within walking distance. Definately go check them out!

Rebecca R.

Yelp
We sent a $12.00 drink back because it tasted awful but were charged for it. We asked for rice with an entree and were not told it was an extra $5.00 for a tiny bowl of rice. Servings were very small. Definitely not worth $80 for three appetizers! Will not be returning. So many other great options. Sinju Sushi is much better.

Vicki E.

Yelp
Can't wait to go back! This was our first visit to Bamboo Sushi and we couldn't be more pleased. The service was first rate (Hutton was great and sooo helpful) and the food was fresh and delicious. We sat at the sushi bar and got to enjoy the show! Everything was delicious but the spicy edamame was a memorable standout. We will definitely order it again when we return.

Kealani L.

Yelp
Oh my goodness this place is INCREDIBLE. The service the food the restaurant is just amazing. They were super great about my dietary restrictions, (gluten and dairy). And the server was so kind! Everyone here smiled. I loved the crunchy rice. Will definitely be coming back for more!!

Ben B.

Yelp
Just ordered food to go here and get had me waiting for 45min... I saw multiple order after me that got their food first. I'm sorry but that's not cool. Lady didn't apologize or anything

Matt R.

Yelp
I have to say that I was less than impressed by the taste of the rolls that we ended up getting. The miso soup wasn't anything beyond average (which at $4 is probably the only honestly priced thing I encountered). Out of the three rolls that we got, I want to honestly say that the Little Island was the only one that had some real flavor to it, which was a citrus flavor. It's great that Bamboo has so many vegan and gluten-free options, but I feel like maybe that's what they capitalize on. At least that's my perception after dining there, because otherwise I cannot understand why these premium priced rolls were seriously lacking in flavor. With so many other places in Portland to try, I'm glad I saved Bamboo for a special occasion. I do have to say that our server was fantastic and any other staff we interacted with did a wonderful job.

K E.

Yelp
We had a wonderful dinner tonight. The restaurant has a nice vibe and is bright and clean. Our server Katrina was amazing. She is friendly and was so helpful. Her recommendations were much appreciated and the Yuzu Ponzu Sauce is our new favorite. We will be back!

Nicholas W.

Yelp
The sushi was phenomenal - buttery, thick and great flavor. The appetizers were ok and the sake was not the best I've had. I didn't feel like the servers were very attentive and I felt like we were a little too cramped in the restaurant.

Mary H.

Yelp
I always enjoy Bamboo. Delicious sushi - the fish is very fresh and sustainably sourced. The avocado nigiri with the splash of truffle oil is a definite favorite.

Karin W.

Yelp
Delicious! We had miso and edamame to start. Followed by Sunset, Hokie Poki Box and Fry Tide rolls. We thought everything was perfect! Sauces were perfectly seasoned, fresh ingredients and service was excellent. Highly recommend!

A W.

Yelp
Love the ambiance at Bamboo Sushi. The restaurant is super clean. The hostesses are a little pretentious. Our waiter wasn't very informed about sushi. The cooked roll options were basic. I liked the smashed avocado. The California roll was ok. For the price you'd think it would have real crab, not imitation crab. Imitation crab was news to me!

Hannah W.

Yelp
Came with family for happy hour around 5:30/6pm. Had 4 year old cousin with us unexpectedly. Even though they had many reservations for a Thursday night they still found us a quiet area at the bar which was suitable for kids as well. They suggested the chicken karaage for my little cousin to eat. We had the happy hour spicy salmon and California roll. Kneau helped us with our decisions and was an amazing server who was very knowledgeable. We couldn't have had a better time. Thank you Kneau! Very aesthetic atmosphere and ambiance as well. Will be returning for Kneau again with other friends!

Claire C.

Yelp
Placed a take out order, and multiple items were not as described on website. In addition forewarning... you have to request wasabi and ginger, they don't include any with the order. Called to inquire and they say they are trying to reduce "plastic waste"... didn't know wasabi and ginger were considered plastic? My husband then drove to another restaurant near by. Disappointed in service and outcome, in addition sushi quality is poor. Definitely not worth the $$..: so many better sushi options, super poor quality. And who doesn't include ginger and wasabi? So odd.

Lisa H.

Yelp
I'm honestly baffled at the low scores of this restaurant. My friend and I visited here yesterday for the first time and everything was wonderful. They now have indoor dining most nights, I was seated exactly at my reservation time, server was attentive prompt and had knowledgeable recommendations. Our cocktails were well crafted and the food....... Wow! The flavors were robust with the right amount of citrus, the textures added contrast and interest, and all fish components were on point. And it was all beautiful in a nice safe setting.

Nathan P.

Yelp
food is always 5-stars. But spending time with my girlf friend here really made it special. The food is so good, and the vibe is just right to be able to chat and enjoy the environment. Green machine 10/10 garlic chicken 10/10

Anita K.

Yelp
A unique experience, great food, the green machine with shrimp tempura is just Incredible! The Tuna Nigiri is also very good.

Kim G.

Yelp
Love this location! Same innovative and delicious sushi but with the added pleasure of outdoor seating! Stopped by for a late lunch on one of the last warm September afternoons, and everything was fabulous. Let me get this out there, I don't particularly like sushi. There, I said it. It's never the answer I give when someone says, "what do you feel like eating?" But if there is a Bamboo Sushi in the area, that is always my answer! That's how good it is! With a glass of their HH rose, I thoroughly enjoyed a pork belly bun with cucumber, micro greens, and some amazing sauce on a soft fluffy bun. I could eat several of these but I exhibited willpower! Since I habitually crave the Green Machine roll made with long been, green onion, avacado with a sweet chile cilantro sauce, this is what I ordered. Every bite is a sensation of textures and flavors! If I had a lunch partner, I would have also ordered my other fave, the Garden of Eden with albacore tuna, green apple and cucumber. I'll get that next time! Service was great, HH meant a few dollars off, and sitting outside while dining, the best.

Matthew L.

Yelp
Cool atmosphere, good service, pretty typical food! Better than most tex mex places. Definitely worth trying. Place is still new and I bet they are gonna kill it.

Shannon F.

Yelp
My husband started a job recently. I've mentioned before that he's a bit of a burger connoisseur (okay, not really though, because he does like Carl's Jr.). One of his new co-workers is also a burger lover and since we are still relatively new to the Portland area, we are more than open to suggestions. He came home one day and said we needed to go to this sushi place to try their wagyu burger. Ummm...okay? While I like burgers, I have to be in the mood for them. So sure, honey, you get your burger and I'll get my raw fish. We started by ordering a Pacific Lotus for me and an Old Fashioned for him (not sure which option he chose). The PacLo was good, but what I really liked about it was the square of salt on one side (I've been trying to order margaritas with half salt since and they give me weird looks when I do). For food, I ordered the Kimono roll (sans cucumber) and the Hawaiian Kanpachi Tataki. Both were just okay. $28 worth of food that didn't fill me up. I had my mind set on ice cream next door, so that was probably a good thing, since I tend to overeat when I really like something. My husband ordered his Wagyu beef burger Sumo style. He also found it just Okay. Overall, we're probably not going to make our way back to this place. If we were invited for a celebration of some sort, sure. I didn't dislike it, per se. It was just a very expensive dinner that I didn't feel excited about after I left.

Joe R.

Yelp
We will not visit this location again. Slow to be seated even with a reservation - 15min wait. Slow to take our order and receive food - 30min wait for soup and edamame appetizers. Considered paying for our drinks and leaving but our apps delivered just prior - server was polite and apologetic. Both of these issues are normally easy to overcome. Shocking but we also witnessed a minimum of 5 kitchen/service staff members (not our server) eating food with bare hands from the open kitchen/sushi bar area - and reaching over the bar at one point. Food was otherwise reliable.

Christine F.

Yelp
This is a hard one for me to write - because we love this place. But tonight we had a different experience than we ever had before First let me say - if you can request a waiter - Tyler is who you want - he's amazing that said - tonight we were there (3 of us ) for a 5 pm reservation. At 7pm - the general manager came to our table and asked us to leave; stating that they had "other reservations waiting" Now - to be clear - we weren't just sitting around gabbing ... in fact we had just ASKED for our check . We didn't even have it in our hands yet and we were being asked to leave . No one at the table had ever experienced anything like that before and it was a bit shocking. What if you actually took the time to ask our server if we had even received a bill yet ?? By the way - Our bill - before tip - was $315. THATS $158 for each of the two hours we were there - and we hadn't even gotten a bill yet before we were asked to leave. We will rethink coming again.

Leah W.

Yelp
Yesterday I placed an order online for pickup the following day at 7:00. I arrived today at 7:00 and did not receive my order until 7:23. Absolutely ridiculous, considering they had a full 24 hours notice, that they were not able to have my order ready on time. I am now late bringing the meal to a birthday dinner and everyone is hungry. The most egregious thing is that I had to tip in advance when I placed my order online. I feel utterly taken advantage of. EDIT: they also omitted one of our food items but still charged for it!!

Steve H.

Yelp
What a pretentious establishment ! The décor, music , and service was fine, but the sushi was mediocre. Not much better than Sushi Hana at 3 times the price. The Tuna Poke was so heavily spiced it was nearly inedible ( likely to hide to quality of the fish. The Hamachi sashimi was $21 for 5 tiny pieces with no flavor. The Amaebi was not fresh. This dish should only be served the way a real sushi bar prepares it. Very disappointing.

Vasili R.

Yelp
Was there for anniversary tonight - asked for a dealers choice special roll and what they brought was INCREDIBLE!!! Hamachi inside with vegetables then kind salmon on top with a bit of salt......then smoked in rosemary - never seen anything like it and this would be an awesome addition to the menu. Love it when you guys get creative - really takes bamboo to a whole other level that it deserves.

Megan K.

Yelp
Really disappointed in one of the rolls I received. We ordered a variety of rolls, one being the crispy rice yuzu avocado. The avocado on it was awful. At first glance, I figured it was just oxidized but after taking a bite, it tasted really off, almost chemical like. It smelled bad too. It was clear that it was just a bad avocado and should not have been used. We ordered this as take out, otherwise I would have absolutely sent this back if we had dined in. I'm giving 2 stars because the other rolls were pretty good and more what I've come to expect from Bamboo. But overall, after spending almost 90 bucks on sushi takeout for two- I should not be eating rancid avocado.

Hannah P.

Yelp
We live in the area, and have been coming to this location for quite some time. Usually, the food is good and the service is great, but this last time around, the service was absolutely terrible. The waiter chatted with the table next to us (I think she knew them?) for close to 20 min while we were waiting on things needed to eat. She didn't check on us more than once, and we had to ask 3 other people for chopsticks and soy sauce plates (waitress took ours, knowing we ordered sushi...) and our food was sitting for 15 min before we even got chopsticks. My friend had an onion allergy that we disclosed to the waitress, and there was onion on her dish. During all of this, the waitress was still chatting with the table next to us, seeing everything that was going horribly wrong, and still did not come over. We looked for the manager, and he was sitting at the bar talking with the bartender nearly our whole lunch. Just so disappointed, and a total waste of money considering our food was sitting for forever. Will be hesitant to return again.

Gena G.

Yelp
Great experience, always a favorite spot when visiting the area, looking forward to our next trip. Rice bowls, sushi, cocktails,
