One of the most beautiful clothing stores that I have shopped at! Upon entering the store it felt that I was about to step into a palace, such was the interior decoration from wall to all and floor to ceiling on every level. Comfortable beds and couches adorned every corner, huge potted plants all over the place, paintings on every wall, and racks and racks of high end clothing for men and women filled the entire store. Yet the store remained spacious and roomy. There was so much to see, the ambience was so mellow, the staff so friendly and accommodating that you could get lost in thought, almost forgetting the reason why you arrived in the first place. However the well trained staff knew the RIGHT MOMENT to make themselves available, should you need any guidance with selecting the right items for your wardrobe. The staff were never overbearing at any point, yet always nearby ready to offer assistance. First there was Ehsan who so expertly helped me with a few items upstairs in the men’s section. He was able to locate some really nice sports coats and helped kw match them with a few shirts. Then he showed me some formal wear, particularly a white jacket that I really liked. I also want to mention Cynthia the very helpful cashier with the most amazing personality who assisted me on the main floor. She has such a warm disposition and pleasing manner about her that when I first arrived, she was the first person to say ‘hello’ and I felt right at home at Banana Republic, knowing that I was at the right place to do my shopping. Finally on the way out Raven helped me select a few items that would fit in perfectly with my wife’s wardrobe. Raven was very knowledgeable about clothing in the women’s department and was able to easily match items. She gave me a small tour of the main floor and recommended some great outfits that I’m sure my wife would be delighted to buy next week when we come back to shop.

People often talks about a great “Customer Experience,” and going “Above & Beyond” however to truly comprehend, experience and testify about it, you have to experience it. On Saturday, my wife and I visited the Banana Republic store on 18th street and 5th avenue, and we met one of the managers of the store, his name is N’GAHI, he is the ephinomy of all of the above. He was walking out to lunch when we approached him and he decided, right then and there, to postpone his time off and he made sure that we found what we were looking for. Kudos to N’ Gali for showing us what going “Above & Beyond” means.

Everyone who is near and dear to me KNOWS how much I love a plain white or black BR Luxe Touch T shirt. I'm actually wearing one rn ahaha. It was my uniform. Like Steve Jobs in his patented black turtleneck and blue jeans, you could find me in some black Zara pants and a BR Luxe Touch T. However, in a senseless act of cruelty and what has since become a top 5 world mystery, BR changed the blend of their Luxe Touch T's... Well it's not a mystery those things would shrink like a mf but just buy a size up and it was good money!! I could have summed all that up in one simple sentence like "With my birthday behind me, I had a few returns to make y'all know how that goes ahahaha" but whatever. I strongly dislike the feel of the new Lux Touch Ts so I came in here yesterday to make some returns and see what I could come up on. I entered and thought I had just walked into a Restoration hardware. I had no idea BR Home was a thing, but this store is beautiful. Fairplay to them. After I returned my faux Luxe Touches, I forged on through the furniture section that my $123 gift card wouldn't make a dent in and made it to the mens section upstairs. After reminiscing on the past glory of my Luxe Touch Ts and scanning the sale rack for any remnants of them, I stumbled upon the most beautiful lightweight pin striped suit jacket I have ever seen. It's one of those ones that you see in Italy or in a custom tailor store in Tribeca that cost over a rack. One of those ones you say "When I make it I'mma get that..." I was determined not to spend over my $123, but this jacket clocked in at $350. As I was licking my wounds and picturing myself looking BEAST in the jacket, a BR employee, Alejandro, came down like an Angel from the heavens to try and help get the price down as much as possible. He could see in my eyes how much I wanted it. If I signed up for the rewards it would be 20% off and with the promotion they're running it was another 25% off yadda yadda yadda. But MAN did that price come down. I still came out of pocket like $70 more than I said I would but y'all know how that goes ahahha. He also helped me pick the sizing, and seemed genuinely happy to be helping me only 30 minutes from close which I know is annoying as all hell. Shoutout to Alejandro man. It's experiences like this that made me start writing these reviews in the first place. I had no intention of reviewing a Banana Republic store yesterday, but Alejandro forced my hand. The Alejandros of the world need their shine. It might even make up for them changing the blend of their Luxe Touch Ts... IG @jnov_ Tiktok @jnov__

Walked in and the greeter at the front did not greet me, which seemed odd but whatever. Then I went upstairs and again no one said a word to me. Fine, I look around for a pair of jeans I saw online and can't find them so I ask an associate for them. He seems disinterested and walks over to a stack of pants, slaps the top of the stack, and walks away. So I go through the stack and find my size, I then ask him where the fitting room is and he says "The room over there with the big ass sign." Kind of an unreal experience all around, no idea if the people here hate their jobs or people of color, but every step of the way it felt like no one wanted to help me even a tiny bit.

The staff at this location are so ridiculous… If you are not white they will watch you and hover around whilst DOING NOTHING. Two grown men were sent to ‘watch’ over my mother and I while we were shopping in the sale section. They didn’t even have the curtesy to ask if we needed help with anything nothing. They just stayed there moving clothing trying act all inconspicuous. Are you serious?!?!!!? I shop at banana republic often but in the future I’ll just keep to shopping online because this is just disgraceful. There are too many people of color working here for them all to do this same bullshit to patrons who are spending their hard earned money at this overpriced store. In the future if you want to follow people around at least try not to be so obvious…

Google
popped into this BR location bc i was looking for a particular pair of pants. two floor location—women’s on the ground floor + men’s on the second floor. this is a fairly big location for nyc and really well-merchandised. the store is brightly lit, super organized, and really clean—i was surprised that no clothes were out of place and it was fairly busy day. the staff does a a really good job of making this location more than presentable. impressive a staff member ended up helping me find the pants i was looking for in a snap. even the dressing rooms were also clean and well-maintained. staff were really helpful and friendly. in a time when it seems like customer service in store is on the decline in nyc…it’s refreshing that this is not the case everywhere.

This place is fantastic. A wonderful and attentive shopping experience. They gave us San Pellegrino sparkling water, a massive dressing room, hung all the items out and even let my wife and I use one room. My boy Noah hooked it up! 100 percent recommend shopping here.

Google
The most beautiful Banana Republic store I have ever been to!! Which is unfortunate, because the customer service here left me feeling like I didn't belong there. I passed by at least 6+ employees and only one bothered to even acknowledge I was there or offer help. There was also a 40% off storewide sale going on, and I brought a sweater to the counter to purchase, only to be told it was not included in the sale (there was no sign in the area these sweaters were in mentioning this. only signs advertising the storewide sale). I was mortified but not able to justify the purchase of a $160 sweater, so I said I couldn't get it anymore :( the cashier curtly said "have a nice day" and snatched the sweater back from me without making eye contact and honestly I felt really shitty. I may look young but I am a young professional at the start of my career looking for more modest and professional clothing to wear to work... I didn't realize I had to look a certain way/demographic to be treated kindly, like other customers were! Nothing wrong with the store and products itself, just a little warmth from the employees would have been appreciated :')

Yelp
This is a really nice store to shop. It seems like Banana Republic is all over NYC. This was one of the nicest I have ever seen. They had a lot of winter clothes for sale. It was December after all. I have enough warm clothes and really wanted to find some springy clothes. That's ok. It was fun to browse and thr guy who greeted us was very friendly. I had fun looking around and will remember this location when I come back in the future.

Yelp
I recently discovered BR! I know this store has been around a long time but I never knew that they have the best petite sizes! Checking out their store led me online for more -- and sadly I encountered the dreaded Zara-style website! Impossible to find anything and impossible to really see the clothing. If anyone at corporate is reading reviews: please just don't. I get that you like the editorial vibe but it is sooooo frustrating for actual shoppers.

Yelp
I had one of the best experiences working with Yanni at the Flatiron store. She answered all my questions being very knowledgeable on all the products but most of all she was extremely nice and patient even with all the changes o asked her to make. I would totally recommend the flatiron store and especially her if you are looking for home products.

Yelp
Karen helped me while I was in the store today trying on dresses for my nephew's wedding. The store didn't have the size I needed so she called a different store trying to find it. She was so patient as she tried to get in touch with the other store and came and found me to let me know they didn't have it either. Ultimately she helped me order it online at the register taking care to make sure it was the right one and that all of my info was correct. I really appreciate how attentive, patient and sweet she was. She absolutely made a difference today! Thanks again Karen!!

Yelp
I called from Phoenix with a question about furniture from the BR Home collection. Yanni went out of her way to try to find an item in the Tucson collection so she could text me photos of the finishes. She even emailed me a link to a cart with the items I was interested in. I ended up ordering and was able to make the decision on two large items without seeing them in person based on all of her help. Thank you Yanni!

Yelp
I recently purchased a pair of pants online at Banana Republic. I understood it was final sale and unable to be returned. I thought I would be able to exchange it for a different size, but unfortunately that is not the case. I have never heard of no exchanges before. It has been awhile since I shopped in an actual store for clothing (covid). This is new to me. I hope other shoppers are not duped by this policy like I was. Buyer beware.

Robert C.

Yelp
Simply Amazing, the store look and feels fresh. The clothing feel right and updated for a new age of styling. Br is one of those brands that is iconic because it plays by its own rules. I love BR because you have to know how to style when shopping this brand.

Yelp
Clean, sleek set up. All women's downstairs, all men upstairs. Clean floors and friendly employees. Love the cashiers and their smiles and quick, helpful attitudes. Janie (I think? Older, perky lady) was ridiculously helpful in the fitting room. Not only did she help with sizing but she also was kind enough to grab me some shoes so I could try on work pants with heels. Also, make sure to check out the sale area. When they're offering a big sale, they typically give you the percentage off the clearanced items. It's brilliant and you can find some really sweet deals. Overall, I love the layout here and the employees. Ch-ch-check it out

Yelp
I try to avoid Soho or Herald Square area to shop if I can, so I usually end up walking around Flatiron on 5th Avenue if I need to buy any clothes. I stopped by Banana looking for some work clothes and found what I needed with the help of a lovely sales associate who stuck with me the whole time I was there. I told her exactly what I was looking for and she put together a bunch of items for me try on in the fitting room. She checked back with me and even say bye to me as I was leaving. That is commitment people! There's a lot of options at Banana, both casual and professional, and a good jewelry section. I don't usually shop at Banana Republic, but I saw a lot of cute fall outfits today. I'll definitely come back when I have time!

Yelp
Had the best customer service experience here! Isis spent close to an hour just helping my son to find the perfect shirt for a college audition. When we finally landed on one, unfortunately, they were out of his size. She called multiple multiple locations and managed to find the shirt at the store that was closest to our hotel. Would definitely recommend!

Yelp
Great store. Great selection. Love the quality of the clothing here. Lot of people when I was there but then again, it is in a prime area and it's the holiday season! Got myself some dress pants here. Love the style and fit. Staff seemed busy but I did not mind. Will be back!!

Yelp
Trash customer service. Push credit cards, don't send bills, then all of a sudden you get a bill with a $25+ late fee, and they won't let you waive it. Well I waive the right to never go to your store again. I had been going there since 2000, but I feel like they just took major advantage of me, so I hope that $25 is worth it. WTF is wrong with these people. They used to make money off of clothes. Now it is churn and burn good customers with ridiculous credit card fees. I seriously hate these people now. That is not how to treat long term former customers. Edit: pretty useless CSRs compared to other banks, and when I didn't leave a perfect survey, it errored out. Coincidence?

Yelp
The customer service in this particular B.R. Is the worst I have ever experienced. Nothing says purchase more bland clothing like unenthusiastic employees. I enjoy the designs and always feel as if Gap inc. offers nice prices but I need more of a lively experience and not one that seems to be rooted in annoyance and zero customer service. The few times I've venture into the store, I've been greeted once...just ONCE! Way to go management on choosing such a lackluster staff!

Yelp
Messy. pressured me 3 damn times to open a credit card but can't remember to remove the damn ink tag from my clothes? Trash.

Yelp
Pretty terrible customer service. Came in and asked to try on a pair of shoes. The person disappeared , and did not return for 10 minutes. Around that time, another person came, and asked what I was waiting for. Explained I wanted to try on the pair of shoes. She also disappeared. After another 10 minutes I gave up and left (as well as the lady behind me, also waiting for a size). As I was leaving, the second lady who was supposed fetching the shoes was near the front of the store folding sweaters. As I walked out, She told me "oh, we don't have your shoes." Mmm hmmm. Thanks.

Yelp
Soooo slow. Horrible service. Only shop here if you have all day to spend. It literally took 45 mins to check out two people. Wtf takes so long?

Yelp
Great store clean and huge and very nice customer service. Bought some t-shirts and shirts. Quality is great too

John-Kaarli R.

Yelp
Senelyn was an amazing help when I had some difficulty finding item history to return a couple of purchases. She was extremely patient and pleasant while aiding me through the process. The rest of the staff was also great in guiding me through the store. Will shop again. Thanks!

Yelp
This has got to be the best Banana Republic store in the city. They carry more variety than other stores. The store is huge, pretty and well organized. Customer service is exceptional too!

B P.

Yelp
Compared to other BR locations the service here is generally non observant and generally not focused on customer touch points. I found the manager very rude until I told her I would send feedback and when the associate in the basement was angry that I did not get out of her way I realized that it is tough finding associates. I tried to get a check on a size and it was clearly understaffed and the floater on a radio near the front never returned I was not shocked.

Elizabeth W.

Yelp
Staff was making awkward comments about a woman in line after she walked away. Later when I walked away I heard them making comments about me also. Blech. Ignored it but felt like I was in high school. Not going to this location again. Women working the dressing room were great though.

Yelp
Very poor customer service that varied wildly. There was a very friendly but almost slightly intrusive lady near the entrance - she introduced herself twice to me and offered to help with sizes several times. At least she was offering help and seemed genuine, but perhaps know when to leave a customer to browse... However what was most frustrating to me was separate encounters with two very rude sales assistants. One was an older lady with a pixie hair cut at the fitting rooms who seemed awfully put out that I asked for a different size for three garments. Sorry, but isn't helping customers retrieve the optimal size part and parcel of your job? I wasn't demanding in any way and was polite and grateful when she bought me the other sizes, but she seemed annoyed that I had asked her. I walked out with several items to purchase so it wasn't as if I was just trying things on and leaving. Besides if I was, isn't that the point of having a fitting room; so you can discover the best size and item for you? Aren't the sales assistants supposed to help you and create a pleasant shopping experience? The other - worse - was a young man at the check out. After I returned a few items I purchased online but also purchased more goods from the store i.e. I was buying more at BR, his attitude was incredibly rude and confrontational. First he was annoyed that I was returning items, but when he charged me for my new items I was confused why one item hadn't been exchanged and why I was being charged for it again. He snapped at me when I asked him the question. He didn't explain the process clearly and was just plain rude. I genuinely regret spending more money at this store given the terrible customer service experience. My advice to the manager of this store is to train your teams on the floor. While more people than ever shop online there's absolutely no reason to slack on good customer service in-store. Sadly given this experience I will be continuing to shop online to avoid interactions like this with your staff..

Yelp
This is the best Banana Republic location in the city. Very clean and nicely setup and organized. The staff is incredibly helpful and friendly, even when it is packed on a Saturday. I have gone to this location in a pinch for two events for last minute outfits, both times I left with a great outfit that got tons of compliments. Shoutout to Jane, she is so kind and helpful she dressed me for both events and I felt great. Thanks Jane! :)

Gabri E.

Yelp
Jane in the fitting room was such an inspiration. I thought customer service was dead in retail, especially in this city, but, boy, did she prove me wrong. I'm unbelievably blown away by her dedication even hours later. I just lost my job due to layoffs and was feeling very spacey, upset, and anxious, dreading having to find an interview outfit. The second I was in her sight, she didn't waste a second to explain she was the suit master, and, that, she was. Jane was so determined to find the perfect fit and combination of pieces she even delayed her break and when she came back she asked her colleague if I was still here when I was hidden in the fitting room. Needless to say, she figured it all out for me and I didn't have to do a thing but play dress up. She took the worries away from me. Let me tell you, I've worked in customer service my whole life and it truly is an art what she's doing. That level of care is real. It's not a canned response. It's not a set of instructions being followed. It's pure passion. It's rare that you find these unicorn employees that give their job their all. Jane, I'm not sure if you'll ever see this but everyone needs to know it. You're amazing. Thank you for everything - even if it seems simple to you, it means so much to me. - Ella
