Pretty pricey menu, but it's a nice place to splurge. We arrived early for our 8 pm reservation on a Friday night so decided to try to grab our predinner drinks from the bar - which was very crowded. It was hard to order drinks without leaning over the people trying to enjoy their food. By the time we had drinks in hand, they were ready to seat us at our table.
Now for the food, we had the burrata and prosciutto appetizer. It was garnished with fresh basil and both the cheese, and the meat were fresh and had minimal fat on the paper-thin slices - just the way we like it. The warm bread was good and came out with a side of butter. I would've liked the butter softened or whipped, but that's me being picky because my personal favorite comes from Pappadeaux's.
For entrees we had the skirt steak, a filet, and the butcher's butter. The skirt steak was cooked medium rare, as requested, and came with a very tasty chimichurri topper. The 8 oz filet was cooked to medium rare, also as requested, and topped with truffle butter. The loaded mashed potatoes were made from scratch and delicious - there were 2 pounds of potatoes mashed and topped with all the fixin's, served in a cast iron skillet.
Now for the butcher's butter medallions... the server suggested to be cooked to a medium temp because of the intense marbling in the ribeye cap. However, having had this cut before at other places, I opted to have it cooked medium rare. Unfortunately, it did come out more on the medium - medium well side and served over some average tasing spinach. For the price, I should've sent it back since it was overcooked but alas, I didn't. To be fair - it could've just been a fluke because our friends have been there a few times and the butcher's butter has been cooked medium rare as requested the last 2 times they ordered it.
We shared a bottle of the Stags Leap Pino Noir. The decor is elegant with white tablecloths and polished glassware. If you're looking for a place to have a nice dinner, you should give it a try. There is a butcher shop on premises, as the name suggests, so be sure to check out the aging meat hung in the display case.
