20 Iconic Dishes That Define Miami - Miami - The Infatuation

"Mi Colombia takes the metaphorical sombrero vueltiao for being the best Colombian restaurant in Miami. And it’s also responsible for the best bandeja paisa. The entire circumference of the oblong plate is filled with carne asada, chicharron, fried plantains, a fried egg, and a bright green avocado wedge. The most remarkable thing, though, is that it costs less than four gallons of gas, which is both glorious and a painful reminder of how affordable Miami used to be." - virginia otazo, ryan pfeffer, mariana trabanino

Google
If ever there was a place where flavor and hospitality joined forces to conquer the galaxy, Bandeja Paisa Restaurant would be that culinary rebel base! From the moment you walk in, the cheerful Colombian décor sets the tone — colorful murals, witty ceiling quotes (“Si lo puedes soñar, lo puedes hacer”), and good vibes that would make even a grumpy Sith crack a smile. 🪄 The Service: Out of this world! The staff moved faster than a hyperdrive upgrade and smiled brighter than twin suns. Every guest was treated like family — or at least a well-fed Jedi. 🍽️ The Food: Each dish looked like it was plated for the Galactic Senate! The Paisa Burger con Chicharrón was an absolute masterpiece — a towering burger with layers of ham, bacon, and cheese, crowned with crispy chicharrón and a sausage spear worthy of a lightsaber duel. Served with fries, guacamole, and enough flavor to make the Force tremble. The rice dish (loaded with chorizo, chicken, veggies, and topped with avocado and sweet plantains) was a tropical explosion of color and taste — pure edible art! 💡 Bonus Points: Menus are displayed on sleek tablets, with bilingual descriptions (Spanish & English) — super helpful for off-world travelers still learning the local dialects. 🌟 Final Verdict: Strong with the flavor, this place is. A hidden gem in the Miami system that turns hunger into harmony. Five shining stars across the galaxy for food, service, and pure heart. Definitely saving this one in my favorites. 🌠

Google
The food is delicious! I highly recommend it for the quality, quantity and value! Very authentic Colombian food and a nice atmosphere. Ask for Diana and if you’re there on a Wednesday order La Bandeja paisa original for the special!

Very satisfied with the service, the staff were very attentive and the food was delicious. Thanks, Jhonnyel

Katty did a great job, she was very friendly and attentive. The food was delicious and fresh. The pricing was very reasonable and the portions were generous.

Google
Sara and Natalia are the best. Sara was cleaning already close to closing time (10:45 p.m.), and still was cordial and professional when I asked if it was ok to go in. She even offered me to sit down when I asked (most likely because I ordered something that was quick to make). Still, I appreciated the gesture, and the complimentary soup shot!

Google
Natalia was fantastic, and the meal was delicious. It’s the best Colombian food in Miami.

Google
The food was AMAZING!!! My husband and I both had the Red Snapper, and it was a little overcooked (dry) but it was still GREAT!!! The rice was seasoned well and those plantains were CHEF'S KISS🤌🏾 Our server was Cielo and even though we didn't speak very much Spanish, she was very patient with us and friendly!! 10/10 WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!

Claudia P.

Google
Jenifer gave us outstanding service. Even though I don’t live nearby and had only walked in to check the menu, she welcomed me with a complimentary consommé. The food was delicious, the portions were generous, and the drinks were great. Highly recommend this place!

Yelp
A hidden gem. This authentic Colombian place is a total treat. Warmly welcomed by staff. Our waitress Katy, went over our menu and explained all of our lunch options. The sancocho de res was a delight. Their plantain soup is out of this world. Not to mention their coffee with a cookie. Place is small, but cozy. The ceiling was decorated with typical Colombian phrases written on coffee bean bags. Will return to try their breakfast options. Lunch was fantastic!

Yelp
Stop the presses, this place is amazing. I drove down to visit family and had to pick a spot that wasn't quite sushi and wasn't quite ribs. Culture aside, I instantly opted for Bandeja Paisa restaurant because of the solid reputation and excellent experience. My family was overjoyed to have Aura as our waitress, she was personable, knowledgeable, super patient and made the entire dining experience go from 4 to 5 stars. She truly is one of a kind when it comes to the personal touch and familiarity of what a family meal is. The food was amazing. I am an enormous fan of the consome I think it's the perfect way to whet my appetite, Stoke, the figurative food flames if you will. The favorite appetizer of the night was the plantains and fried cheese while I enjoyed the Churrasco steak and the table enjoyed the Bandeja paisa along with delicious traditional beverages. It's one of the best family outings. I've had thanks to the service and the quality of food. An admirable quirk I notice was the decor in that it looks like it was actually decorated by someone familiar with colombia versus someone who simply googled images of colombia; so 10 points to Gryffindor for authentic attention to detail Also, everything was very reasonably priced, and I was really impressed with the serving size of the Churrasco steak. The food was so good. We practically ordered the exact same order to go. That tells you something about how good it was on the spot that we knew we would want to eat it again a little later.

Yelp
Super good spot for lunch or dinner. the service staff was excellent and very helpful and answered every question about the menu. highly recommend the "Bandeja Paisa". (they have a weekly special on it, i think it's Wednesday). fresh juices are also excellent. lots of great delicious options and excellent location for a group to enjoy a good feast. portions and prices are fare.

Yelp
I went to Miami specifically to try all different kinds of food, and I was pleasantly surprised about the great service and delicious food I had at Riconcito Paisa. The waitress Cielo was very attentive Ians always try to see if I'm all right. I will definitely return to this restaurant when I come back to Miami. I loved the decorations and the saying that were on the ceiling.

Yelp
We came here for first time on a Monday afternoon. Service was attentive, and we loved being greeted with "caldo" a delicious cup of consommé that reminded me of the soup my family in Colombia makes for an afternoon lunch. I enjoyed the beef empanada but was a little put off by the fact that it was hot but not "just made" hot. My mora juice was delicious. Next: hubby and I split the guacamole bandeja, a delectable mix of Colombian staples like toston, chicharron, and maduro plus a really delicious guacamole on a bed of romaine lettuce bits. Delic! We added chorizo to ours. Again, good flavor but not exactly hot. Still, very yummy and of course leftovers will make an awesome breakfast tomorrow morning! Will be back to try more dishes.

Yelp
We went for some lunch this past weekend for some Colombian food and my sister in law recommended that we try Bandeja Paisa located in Flagler and off 95 Avenue. The restaurant is small and the wall decorated with a lot of Colombian memorabilia. The menu here contains many of the most popular Colombians items and we decided to order an appetizer basket which included empanadas, tortillas crackers, ham fritters, and cheese tequenos. The appetizers were not greasy but they were not that tasty. Then came the main entree which is the famous Bandeja paisa which included ground beef, fried pork rinds, sweet plantain, fried yuca, tostones, sausage, and rice topped with a sunny side egg. The platter was filling but the flavors were kind of bland especially the ground beef. The waitress was very nice and quick with our order and atmosphere was very homey.

Yelp
Came on a rainy day searching for a nice warm Colombian Sancochito and must say, their sancocho hit the spot and met our sancocho craving. We ordered 2 sancochos served in a pan with viandas - the beef, white rice, corn and banana were served in a separate plate. Serving size was good. I was only able to eat half but my husband ate his entire serving. Gladys was very professional and made sure to meet every request. Would we come back - yes. Pricing a little higher than we expected but we had warm fresh tasting sancochos.

Yelp
When you enter this restaurant you feel immersed in Colombia They have a lot of decorations hanging on the walls and on the ceiling from colombia. The atmosphere was very good; they play latin music which I liked. The service is good, when you are seated they give a small cup of chicken soup, (which is delicious) I even asked for a second cup and the waitress kindly gave it to me. I order the Carne asada with rice , beans and fry plantains . The food was flavorful and the portions were generous. We could not finish the whole thing and took the left overs home.

Yelp
I arrived close to lunch time asked for a bandeja paisa the most common and known plate Colombians serve and let's just say very disappointed will not be returning to this place. The meat was cold like if it was microwaved and not cooked the same day and the crackling pork was super greasy and not toasted as asked for. Very small plate and not at all authentic. After I left my stomach just saying did not cooperate with me. Waited for a refill on my cup of water let's just say the cup must still be waiting for the refill. A true waiter knows never to let a guests cup get empty at anytime while at the table so that tells u the type of service. I am not that guy about zero tip but today I had to be that guy so sad. There is more to say but you know what I am just going to stay quit better I am very disappointed...

Yelp
Great local Colombian place. I have to say you get your moneys worth with the lunch special. I was able to get their carne mechada, which is shredded meat, rice, and a soup. Great value for a meal. Service was great, greeted immediately and seated quickly. Although I was a little tight on time, I was able to order, eat and pay in less than an hour. The lunch special is preset with options so don't expect it to be cooked on the spot, it's ready to go so that okayed a part in the speed. Flavors were good, nothing mind blowing or enabling me to say I have to come back. I can say it hit the spot and if con in the area then I would think about passing by. Ambiance was great, small little location and parking was ample outside in the plaza it's located in.

Yelp
Hector provided excellent service and the flavors were very authentic. Highly recommend for lunch and a classic Colombian bandeja paisa.

Yelp
Flavors - 2.5/5 Textures - 5/5 Presentation - 3/5 Value for Money - 2.5/5 Would return? Yes, but to try other things. I only tried the empanadas here! I loved the super crispy dough, but the fillings lacked a little flavor. The cheese empanadas had no salt. The beef and chicken were pretty good, but nothing especial. The other plates looked delicious though and I would clme back to try those.
google avatar

Yelp
Stop by here because we were craving some delicious Colombian empanada! We wanted to stay longer but we couldn't , the staff is very friendly and helpful. We sat down to wait on the empanadas and they gave us free consume while waiting. It was so good ! I also like there decor it's very Colombian ! Wish I would try more food so I gave it 4 stars. I will try out there bandeja Paisa next time I go. Empanadas we're so delicious ! Definitely recommend

Just M.

Yelp
Food is very greasy and small portions not like other Colombian places. Soup was served in a used scratched up pot which was not nice and comfortable to eat. Service was super slow. Tea took forever to be served. Not coming back.
google avatar

Harry A.

Yelp
Bandeja Paisa is an authentic Colombian restaurant with a huge variety of plates to choose from on they're menu. You can not go wrong with this restaurant. It's not a huge fancy location but they are definitely cookin it up. I love the little complimentary cub of broth they serve you when you're seated. Delicious! If you're ever in the area and want some real Colombian food, look no further. You'll definitely be returning for another plate. They also have natural juices. The ambiance and service are phenomenal. Thank me later !
google avatar

Yelp
Honestly the best bandeja paisa I've ever had and I've been to Columbia. AND IT WAS TO GO. Great portion everything is packaged with care and everything tasted so fresh and delicious! 10/10 highly recommend
google avatar

Emily D.

Yelp
Really cute place, we found on Google. Our waiter Cielo was really attentive. We will definitely come back. The moment they sit you they give you a small cup of chicken broth soup on the house to sample. We had sancocho de res and salteado especial a caballo which were both good. I wanted to try the bandeja paisa but they only have one size and it's pricey $28 sounds pretty steep.

Ariadna F.

Yelp
google avatar

Steven B.

Yelp
Always a great spot when im around here always hits like home as a colombian always enjoy the side soup they give you so traditional, jennifer was great very welcoming and great attitude ! And music of choice always super homie for sure will recommend any family or friends also amazing presentation

Hector R.

Yelp
Traditional Colombian restaurant located in Flagler. Right when I came inside i fell in love with the culture decorations! The EMPANADAS are really good, ( fried perfectly and well seasoned, with good amount of filling, good size, ). The BANDEJA PAISA is HUGE, I did not know where to begin, so many delicious things on the plate. ( the beans were great, the chicharron was perfect, right around of fat and grease.) The food took a little to arrive but it came fresh and hot. The staff is friendly and the atmosphere is appealing. The only downside was the expresso coffee to finish the meal was a bit water down but it wasn't a big deal. Still had a good experience.

Yelp

Yelp
I'm half Colombian and I have been many times to Medellin and let me tell you if you want to get a feel of Colombia come here and eat your heart away the food is phenomenal and the place is very clean and makes you feel like you're in the heart of Medellin. You won't regret it! Cheers!

Yelp

Yelp
This place is a hidden gem here in Miami Dade! My family and I found Bandeja Paisa after searching for some traditional Colombian food. The service was exceptional even though we arrived a little bit after lunch time on a busy Saturday. If you have ever been to Colombia you will recognize the interior decor style which got our taste buds excited to try some good Colombian food we had been searching for. We started off with antojitos mixtos as an appetizer which was the best decision since we were able to try all the different appetizers. My two kids left us so little that we ordered another appetizer which did not disappoint. I strongly recommend getting the tostones con carne y pollo. We loved our main meals as well, my wife got the ajiaco and of course I had to order the bandeja paisa. We left with full bellys, smiles and happy we finally found a great Colombian style restaurant. Thanks to the chef and the amazing staff that made us feel at home the entire lunch visit. Highly recommended from us, my only regret is not finding it sooner!

Cirene B.

Yelp
google avatar

Alfonso F.

Yelp
Good neighborhood restaurant I've been going to this restaurant for a long time, every time the same good experience. Excellent food . Our server Cielo always attentive and friendly. You have to try chicharrón , the best!!! And definitely la bandeja paisa. Always recommend this place

Natalia R.

Yelp
Primera vez almorzando aquí y queda 100% recomendado!

Liliana P.

Yelp
Delicious food! We were visiting Miami and asked people around for a good authentic Colombian restaurant! The variety of options and sides! Will definitely come back and recommend to family and friends! The best chicharrón!

Yelp
Never again. If you don't speak Spanish just expect not to be treated very kindly. My partner who doesn't speak Spanish placed an order through Grub hub which we typically get notifications for but for whatever reason we never got a notification and 1.5 hours had passed so he called for an update to verify we would get it and was rudely answered by someone who only spoke Spanish and then while being transferred laughed at. The next person who answered said "it's on the way" and hung up the phone on him. He didn't say what he ordered or even his name so he called back to confirm it was indeed sent out and not someone else's since hey mistakes can happen. At which point I grabbed the phone and started speaking Spanish. The attitude quickly changed and all responses were one worded and again she quickly kept trying to dismiss me and offered no apology. Absolutely rude and dismissive attitude. In case they don't understand what I wrote since it's in English I'll write it in Spanish for you. "Parce, No trates a tus clientes como si son menos que tú por no hablar español, y mucho menos le tires un telephono a alguien que está solamente preguntando sobre un servicio/producto que compraron de ti." I think it's fair to mention my partner did enjoy the food; he ordered a bandeja paisa and on a scale of 1-5 said it was a solid 4. However customer service 0 so here's a 3 and I hope you're kinder to your customers moving forward.

Alejandra M.

Yelp
The service is good and the people are nice, the atmosphere is quiet but the food is expensive for what it offers, the sizes are good though, but I consider that the food is expensive. Very good restaurant in general I give it 3/5 for the price and because the tostones were very hard and the coconut rice had almost no flavor.

Luis T.

Yelp
google avatar

Maria E.

Yelp
If your looking for authentic Colombian food, please don't eat at this restaurant. We ordered the Bandeja Paisa which was the special of the day, what a disappointment. The chicharrón tasted old, the tostones looked like they were fried in the morning, the eggs were overcooked and the steak had no flavor. Now I know why they had good reviews, it's because they bribe you with free empanadas, if you give them a good review. I gate to give such a bad review, but the food was AWFUL.
google avatar

Maria E.

Yelp
Had a great experience eating authentic Colombian food. They have lots of variety and the food is fresh and delicious. Our waitress Gladys was very helpful and welcoming. Will definitely come back again.
google avatar

Aurelio S.

Yelp
The service is top notch! Cielo was the sweetest server and this dishes are to die for. When first arrived we were greeted with their home made soup which was amazing and rich in flavor . Started with a pandebono and their special agua fresca. The dish is beautiful and all was delicious. Will be coming back soon!
google avatar

Luis A.

Yelp
Stay away from this place I'm being honest, if you are craving some colombian hotdogs this is not the place. What they call a mega perro is hot dog bun, hotdog and crushed potato chips. Picada is pretty bad too, food is extremely overpriced for what it is, It was overall a bad experience.

Mara N.

Yelp
Food was absolutely delicious! All employees are so nice and attentive! I come here always and it never disappoints.
google avatar

Hoyman L.

Yelp
Awesome place to eat Columbian food. Have a seat and you get some rich chicken broth with cilantro. Very good aroma and a hint of freshness from the cilantro. A very nice way to welcome a guest especially in the winter. I had the most typical Bandeja Paisa dish, which includes sausage, steak pallomilla, maduros, potatoes, tostones, chicharon, roasted Corn, rice, egg, avocado!! What's not to like?? Also a Venezuelan delight is called Cachapa. It is basically a corn pancake with something called mano cheese in between. Just put some butter on top... Very delicious!! Apparently Columbians like it too and I was with a bunch of Cubans and Puertoricans too! We all had different dishes and all were done well... Including chicken kabobs, steak, all great! We had a nice time with friends old and new. It was so good, I came back for another Cachapa the next day! LOL! =p

Lester C.

Yelp
The food delicious great service And clean restaurant And Nice music and the Alejandra waitress good services
google avatar

Michael Z.

Yelp
I was used to come to this restaurant, but I won't anymore... they show the dishes on the menu then when they take the order you gotta pay extra for the ingredients as "bandeja Paisa" "original" But they over charge for the Ingredients, They put things that really doesn't come in bandeja as potato, corn, yuca and toston, but if you want morcilla gotta pay separately... The "Aguapanela" was 3.50 and at the moment to pay the check was 4.50... the explanation was an extra fee.... Very disappointed...

Jonathan A.

Yelp
Amazing Colombian lunch! If you're looking for a traditional Colombian meal than look no further. This a hidden gem tucked away in West Kendall. We went on a Saturday afternoon and enjoyed Bandeja Paisas, Pan De Bono's, empanadas, and more. The service is unmatched too, Hector was our server and he was extremely friendly and helpful. Thank you all

Luz M.

Yelp
Good service, the people are very friendly and i feel like in Colombia, the place is good the prices are kinda expensive but worth it. The food is great and the size is good. It's my first time here but i'll definitely come back again

Judith A.

Yelp
First of all, place is very cozy even though is not a big restaurant, is the tipic of Colombia. Clean and well organized. Waitress service was excellent, professional and gentle, taste of the cup of consume as an entree was out of series . I can imagine the rest of the food will be tasteful. For sure I will comeback with my family.
google avatar

Sheila M.

Yelp
Good service, very nice and attentive waiter Hector. Ambiance is nice and cool. My first time eating in a Colombian restaurant.

Sandro M.

Yelp
google avatar

John R.

Yelp
This place is a hole in the wall place LITERALLY! Never knew it was located so close to where i live and im glad i found it. I loved the food and the staff was helpful and very coopertive with my order of the bandeja paisa (highly reccomend btw). Only bad thing i can say is that it took a while to get my check but other than that it was great.
google avatar

Beymar P.

Yelp
Great food and great service! There is nothing more that you can ask for. Typical Colombian food which is what I intended to go their for and it was amazing. I most definitely would be going back again.

Stephany B.

Yelp
Seen this place for years and finally decided to give it a try. I did find the prices to be a bit high for what I have experienced at Columbian restaurants. We tried the Toston Mixto and it was very tasty. Would recommend and would like to try some of their other items but so wish prices were a bit more affordable.
