"A relative newcomer to the burrito scene, Bandit Taco started in 2017 and quickly drew a following for superior salsas and an infusion of international flavors. Along with rich black beans, burritos here show off Korean bulgogi beef and Filipino adobo chicken along with more traditional Mexican meats. There’s a second location in Tenleytown. Order online for pickup." - Gabe Hiatt

Google
Why do these restaurants allow bike messengers to deliver food. Thy guy stacked my order and another in his bag and expected everything to work out. All items were smashed and covered with salsa and guacamole. Thanks for the meal? The guacamole was still, really tasty. Lol

Steve Gonzalez

Google
Great food. I love the tortas. The carnitas and Korean meat is a little to sweet and the spicy is not to spicy but overall great taste. and fresh ingredients.

Josh Clapper

Google
Nice counter serve experience right off U St. I had seen Bandit on a list for best breakfast burrito in DC - it did not disappoint! Huge burritos, pick your own protein. I added guacamole but I might recommend avoiding the guacamole addition on future orders. The burrito was huge without it, so more stuff made it more complicated to eat I think. Can’t wait to go back!

Google
Quaint little place for Tacos, Burritos and some sides. What attracted us to visit it was the outdoor seating area which was really informal, friendly and inviting. The food and the service were also good. We had tacos and quesadillas. Would definitely recommend it for an evening with friends or family to chill out.

Chris Bowman

Google
Used to be great but has declined. No longer worth take out - times they quote can be doubled when they used to be very quick. Burritos aren’t mixed well - protein will be all to one side, pico all to another, etc. Inconsistent too - sometimes you’ll order tacos and it’ll be overflowing with ingredients, other times practically just lettuce. Will take a break and revisit in a few months but the recent slide just doesn’t make it worth it right now.

Google
Went here for the first time and the food is delicious. The staff was very helpful and had amazing customer service. The portions are smaller than normal tacos. The toppings are great but too much for meat to veggie ratio. I will eat here again because of the great taste and amazing customer service.

Google
Bandit Taco has to be one of the best taco spots in DC. The variety of options can't be beat. The service was excellent and my tacos came serves to me hot and fresh. I was very much impressed with the presentation of each taco. All of the tacos are great, I especially liked the crispy shrimp and chicken tinga. If your ever in the area, please give them a try.

Yani G.

Yelp
Amazing the best tacos in DC. I love the presentation and taste is amazing. I will come back

Yelp
Stopped in to try their Taco Tuesday deal and have been a fan of it since! The inside of the restaurant is cute and casual, and they have decent outdoor seating too. Although the tacos are prepared quickly even when they're busy, I recommend ordering online in advance if you don't like waiting at all. They only include 3 of their tacos in the $2.50/ Taco Tuesday deal-- usually the Al Pastor, Adobo Chicken, and Tofu. However, I've also tried some of their other tacos at regular price. The Al Pastor and Baja Fish Tacos are my favorite here. They were both flavorful and could be eaten without salsa. The Fried Tofu taco is surprisingly good and balanced-- the taco is flavorful and doesn't require salsa, and tofu is fried nicely. The Korean Barbecue taco is also good, flavorful, and balanced, and it doesn't need salsa. The Carnitas taco was good and flavorful but I like my carnitas to be a little crispier or for the taco to have a crispy textural component. The Adobo Chicken taco was flavorful but the chicken was a little dry and definitely needed salsa. The Steak taco was good but also needed salsa because it was on the dry side.

Chenée T.

Yelp
This was a great causal spot for tacos and burritos. They have ab extensive list of proteins. I tried the chicken burrito and it was honestly the most flavorful burrito I have had in a while. The one ding is that the ingredients weren't evenly distributed so I didn't get chicken until the bottom of the burrito. Overall, the service was fast and they had plenty of seating options especially on a Saturday afternoon.

Eileen G.

Yelp
We ordered takeout and ate at Meridian Park. The tacos and quesadillas were incredibly delicious! Very flavorful and even my kids ate all their shares. The elote was a bit too soggy and tasted just ok but the tacos and quesadillas made up for it. The service was great and the ambiance is casual dining.

Nancy N.

Yelp
Had this as a grubhub delivery. It arrived exactly onThe food was fresh, tasty and affordable. I had street corn on the cob which was delicious! Wish I'd ordered more! Sweet plantains san miel. No need for added sweeteners. Lots of them in the single order. And nachos. Loaded up even without a protein. I would absolutely order from here again. Will probably try to eat at the restaurant next time.

Noah R.

Yelp
They did a catering order for me and my nurses loved every bit of it. I ordered 15 steak and egg 10 refried beans and egg 15 fried chicken and egg 10 bacon and egg Not a single taco was left. I then came back for lunch and ordered the crispy shrimp taco, Korean beef & chorizo taco. All INSANELY GOOD! I just moved from Texas so I've been craving a taco shop and this will be my go to!

Lily B.

Yelp
This place is legit. The employees were cranking out tacos, burritos and bowls. Love that they have jarritos and Mexican Coke. Got two tacos - the Baja fish and Korean beef - and both were really good! The accompanying toppings on each added pops of flavor and texture. These were not boring tacos! Also tried the pumpkin cheesecake and that was solid as well. I think I found my new go-to taco spot!

Dana M.

Yelp
This place was delicious and so reasonably priced! I got two shrimp tacos, a side of plantains, and a bottle of soda for $15. The salsa was also very good. Lots of seating outside and a decent amount of seating inside.

Julia B.

Yelp
Pretty good burrito, large portion size and lots of flavor. My only complaint is it wasn't warmed up but I'm sure they would do that on request. Nice staff, fast service

Bob H.

Yelp
Excellent food, service & ambiance! Quick & friendly service. Recommended! Thinking I don't need to add more characters here!!!

Alexis R.

Yelp
Came here for lunch and will definitely be returning! Good quality food for a good price! I got the chorizo burrito bowl and didn't have to wait long before my meal was freshly prepared.

Kriss D.

Yelp
This was my second time ah Bandit Taco! The food was delicious, the first time was the breakfast burrito which was pretty good. This time though... I'm usually not a fan of shredded chicken tacos but omg these were so delicious!! They were stacked with meat too!! Must try and definitely worth the price!! Cute patio for outdoor seating and everyone is always very welcoming. I've only done takeout but my order is always ready quick and I'm always greeted!

Audrey R.

Yelp
you ever want chipotle but remember when they gave everyone salmonellla? the solution is here - my burrito bowl was cheaper than chipotle and for sure better quality (nothing crazy guys but $14 w tip for this in dc like let's be realistic team) - idk why I made this choice at a mexican spot but I got the Korean beef (major points for so many protein options!!) and I have 0 regrets. soooo flavorful like terakyi ish and soft and warm - was legit eating the green salsa they have at the salsa station by the spoonful - I did ask for extra sour cream was absolutely not given extra or even like a LITTLE extra so that was emotionally devastating but probably a blessing for my arteries - my COMPANION reported a 6/10, tortilla of his burrito was too soft to not break and fall apart so like code red for him

Chris J.

Yelp
Wow. Delish. Easy. Fast. And again dish. I typically hit up El Rey bit sorry i found my new taco spot on U St. hearty. Flavorful. Variety. Jus not liquor which im okay with.

Kinga B.

Yelp
While visiting DC from Los Angeles, my husband and I happen to stumble upon this taco spot and were blown away by how good the tacos were! When we first walked in, we didn't think much of the place, we honestly thought "oh no this might not have been a good idea," the place is small and unimpressive in esthetic but then we got our food...all the tacos we had were super flavorful and none of the meat was chewy. My husband had the crispy shrimp and said they were the best shrimp tacos he has ever had. If we ever find ourselves in DC again, we will definitely make sure to hit up this taco joint.

Tommy B.

Yelp
The food was tasty with the Crispy Shrimp and Al Pastor tacos being the standouts from the order. Both were flavorful and tasted extremely fresh. The Yuca was also good especially accompanied by the included sauces. The biggest disappointment was probably the street corn as it was cold and fairly small. The flavoring was good but it would have been better had it been grilled prior to serving. Service was great with it being quick and the ambiance of the outdoor seating is great for warm weather days!

Shelby P.

Yelp
Price to cost is magnificent. My burrito was huge! I mostly was disappointed as the pork was dry and the burrito was all filling and barely any meat. Flavor through it was good and I like that they have 3 different hot sauce options. My friend said the quesadilla was good. I'd like to go back to try something else like the bowl. Cute location with outdoor seating.

Bartran M.

Yelp
A great place for a casual sit down, after work, mid week catchup or weekend dinner! Outdoor seating is limited but the food is absolutely amazing! The service and staff is so friendly and helpful I cannot recommend this place more. I ordered birria tacos and steak quesadillas and gobbled them up before I looked down, this place is such a great little spot, delicious food, fast and casual and a great place to hangout with friends or grab on the go! I will be coming back!

Stef S.

Yelp
Steak was bland, overcooked, and chewy. Rice was white plain rice. The chorizo burrito seemed dry and overly salty. Ordered delivery via doordash and burritos were wrapped strangely, like a wad where each ingredient was layered and not well integrated. The search for a good burrito in DC continues. On the plus side, delivery was quick.

Jessica D.

Yelp
We just tried Bandit Taco for the first time, ordering the adobo chicken family meal for takeout. Wow!! We were so, so impressed. Every item - from the chicken to the salsas was made with TLC. Usually leftovers in our house are doomed to back of the fridge purgatory, but we were all calling dibs on the last of the Bandit Taco family meal. The kids thought the tiny tortillas were super cute, so the make your own mini tacos were fun for them, in addition to being delicious. Even the tortilla chips and rice were a 10/10. Our family has roots in Arizona, so our bar for Mexican food is high! Bandit Taco is our new go-to for family take out night. Thank you Bandit Taco for the A+ job!!

Darren A.

Yelp
While in DC, we happened across this lil taqueria and decided to check it out. And I'm so happy we did. Actually, we BOTH were pleased w/ the decision. The place was quite busy w/ patrons (always a good sign) and the staff was so incredibly helpful, in all that frenetic energy from the customers. Really well handled. Everyone worked together. It was quite impressive to watch them maneuver the frenetic energy of everyone wanting attention at the same time. KUDOS!!! Anyway. On to the show. We selected the following: DRINKS: Limeade: Sweet/ sour... refreshing. PERFECTION! APPETIZER: Mexican street corn: Corn on the cob with mayo, cheese, and chili powder. WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW!!! Soooooooo dayum good, it was insane. It was like I got it from a vendor on the street, hood. Yummmm-o!!! SCORE!!! MAINS: Now I could run through each one of these to talk about the subtle nuances and hidden punches these each had... but I'm running late for an appointment. I'll summarize... absolutely NOTHING was sub par. Every single choice was packed with fresh ingredients/ herbs and the flavor profiles of each was chin drippingly (yes, I just made that up), good!!! I really done think you can miss here. Here were our selections: 1) Adobo chicken taco: Onions, scallions. cilantro and radishes on corn tortilla. 2) Baja Fish taco: Cabbage, scallions, cilantro, salsa verde, and chipotle, on flour tortilla. 3) Mushroom taco: Wild Mushrooms Taco Corn and peppers mix (red and green peppers), cilantro, scallions, and poblano sauce on a corn tortilla. 4) Adobo Chicken quesadilla: Cheese, onions, red peppers, green peppers. Side of sour cream and pico de gallo. 5) Korean Beef Burrito: Lettuce, rice, beans, cheese, sour cream, and pico de gallo. This is a DEFINITE MUST TRY!!! 'I'll be back'!!!

Joanna F.

Yelp
So good. Super easy to order online and in-person. They are very fast and efficient even when it's busy. I love the tofu, fish, and Korean beef tacos. As someone who can't eat pork, I appreciate all the unique flavor options.

Phillipt B.

Yelp
Great for a quick bite. Had the Adobo Chicken Burrito and a side of Guac. My lunch partner had the Quesadilla and sweet plantains. Both excellent. Service was quick and very accommodating and helpful. Don't expect a lot from the decor.

Thomas V.

Yelp
I'm on a mission to find the best tacos in DC, and Bandit Taco is definitely in the running. Great tacos, friendly staff, and the food comes out super quick. The only thing missing is some beers or cocktails to wash everything down. But, I'll give them a pass since the food is that good. I walk by here pretty frequently and the smell of those corn tortillas, chips, and meats starts from halfway down the block. It's starting to get difficult to resist buying a taco every time I walk by. Keep in mind, this place is casual and no frills, so don't expect anything fancy or to be waited on.

Percy H.

Yelp
Bandit Taco is the best taco spot in the neighborhood or perhaps the whole of DC. I've been wanting to try Bandit Taco for some time but it never seemed to align with my schedule. Fortunately, this time around everything came into alignment. Bandit Taco is not some fancy taco spot. In fact, the moment you enter the restaurant you get a since that it's family owned or what I like to call down home. I enjoyed the crispy shrimp, chicken thinga and pork tacos. Each taco was delicious and presented with excellence. Honestly, this is your shot to try the best tacos in DC. I highly - highly recommend it! Enjoy

Roxy A.

Yelp
One of the last few affordable spots left in D.C. Finally I found an affordable place to sit and grab a bite to eat, that's all I'm asking for. I ordered the adobo chicken rice bowl and the chicken was, to my surprise, very flavorful. This is a great casual spot when you want something chill, flavorful and cheap. The outdoor seating tables are nice too.

Antwan W.

Yelp
I just left this establishment. Great customer service, efficient service and nice vibe. The low rating is for the toddler size tacos that I just paid $20 for. I ordered (4) and now I'm on the way to Qdoba to order tacos. Tacos are cheap and easy. How can anyone mess them up or try to cut corners. Tacos are just that tacos. Cheap eats etc. The flour tortillas were slightly bigger than 1/2 dollar coins or a McDonald's dollar menu sandwich bun's diameter. It's really sad. This place loads you up with lettuce, radish, purple cabbage, Scallions and the like. I damn near had an entire lime on my tray as well. The taste was so so with the exception of crispy shrimp. I wanted to go back and get a few but I decided no to. Why should I have to pay $4 + per baby taco and I can get three for $10 at chipotle, Qdoba and other places and eat until I'm satisfied. This place really disappointed me tonight. I won't be back. I'm still looking for the best fish tacos in DC. I don't mind spending this type of money or more for quality. Can someone please help me out? Thanks.

Lucy B.

Yelp
Great tacos. Reasonable prices, nice staff. It's a great spot to grab a quick bite. Nice little indoor seating area and some cute picnic tables outside. It's never been too busy when I've been.

Steve A.

Yelp
Bandit Taco is the best Americanized Mexican fusion food in DC. It's meant as a complement for real. Lots of fusion places suck. Here it works pretty good. The Asian and Mexican spices go together. Good for lunch. If you're here at night it's good then. The tacos are good any time. Basically these are small bite sized ones. These are best ordered a few at a time. Pair these with a drink. They don't have alcohol so you have to get the next best thing. Here it's the limeade. It's $3 for a cup that's made fresh each day and has the right amount of sour and sweet. This goes good with any tacos. It's $4 for each. These are small so most people order several. Choose the protein. These come with beef, chicken, or tofu. It has a nice patio area. Of course come on Tuesdays. Tacos are on special at $2 and this place is hopping so be ready for a wait.

Ashley A.

Yelp
A little expensive but worth it. Pros: -Quiet patio with ample seating, good for conversation -Really tender meats, super good food Cons: -They get really swamped with to-go orders, so it took around 30 mins -You have to get drinks in a glass bottle which gets expensive

Johnny G.

Yelp
The prices are reasonable, the food tastes good, and it's usually ready VERY quickly. Recommended.

Adam T.

Yelp
Amazing tacos, burritos and bowls. Efficient service and they always have specials. The outside seating is great too!

Noor B.

Yelp
We are frequent visitors of U Street and usually park close to Bandit Taco when we are in the area. We ordered through Doordash Pick-Up on a Friday night and our food was ready on time. They fulfilled all of our side requests and even gave us extra salsa. Between my husband and I, we tried the baja fish, crispy shrimp, chicken tinga, chicken adobo and steak tacos - all on flour tortilla (personal preference). We also got a side of chips and guac and sweet plantains with came with a side of sour cream. The crispy shrimp was excellent so was the chicken adobo. I didn't try the chicken tinga as I'm not a huge fan of white meat but my husband said it was good. The baja fish was OK - too fishy for my liking but husband enjoyed it. We both agreed that 3 taco's per person is more than enough, the tacos are small but hefty toppings so they can fill you up pretty quickly. The chips and guac was also very good, guac was super fresh, I do wish it was a little spicy. The plantains were good as well!

Emily P.

Yelp
Meh. This place was fine. Food was ok, but they don't serve alcohol so don't expect a margarita. Atmosphere (around 8 PM) was busy and the restaurant was kinda gross and dirty. Not the worst but probably wouldn't return.

Johanna G.

Yelp
This was my first time ordering tacos for take out and I was impressed. I loved the tacos - particularly the shrimp and Korean beef. They were delicious. I preferred the shrimp because it was a flour tortilla. I definitely think that the flour taco was better than the corn taco. Can't wait to sit down and dine at this place!

Jasmine B.

Yelp
I am happy to report that the vegetarian tacos are yummy. I am always looking for good vegetarian tacos and I appreciate that there are 3 options and even one with actual protein (tofu). The tacos are piled high with the filling and garnishes and they do not disappoint. My carnivorous life partner really enjoyed the steak taco and adobo chicken and I enjoyed the mushroom taco and tofu taco. I have to come back and try a burrito. I might ask to put mushroom and tofu because both flavors were so good and would compliment each other nicely in a burrito. I'll be back. Prices are reasonable and the tacos were prepared quickly.

EM M.

Yelp
We recently catered from Bandit Taco and were not disappointed with their food. The wild mushrooms were so flavorful and had the right amount of seasoning. The salsas were so good, and the tortillas were fresh. Highly recommend this place. I can't wait to visit one of their restaurants.

Tara L.

Yelp
I have taco earrings. The left earring is that of an actual taco, and the other one just says "Bout It." So that is what I'm bout to do: Taco Bout It. Sometimes, you're in the mood for a taco feast. Other times, you may just want a taco snack. When I ordered from Bandit, I was just in the mood for a taco snack and the trio of tacos I ordered was just what I needed. In terms of portion size, the tacos are on the smaller side but that worked out for me. I had eaten a large breakfast so my hunger pangs were a little confused. I ordered the Al Pastor, Crispy Shrimp, Baja Fish tacos. Of the three, I liked the Crispy Shrimp the most. The balance of the warm and crispy shrimp, with the cold sauce and crunchy vegetables really hit the spot. I really had no business ordering the Al Pastor (since I'm not the biggest pork person) but I was lured in my the pineapples and the prospect. It was tender so I think pork lovers might enjoy more than I did, but next time I'll just stick with the shrimp tacos. Overall, best to be mindful of portion size. If you've got a big appetite, you'll probably have to order a bit more to fill you up, but overall a tasty meal!

John B.

Yelp
I ordered: * Pastor * Baja Fish * Korean Beef They were all very good and yummy. With tax it came to over $16 and these are on the smallish tortilla's, so I felt I could have eaten much more. I'd recommend this place but bang for the buck is why I didn't give it a full 5.

Jailene A.

Yelp
Stopped in for a late quick dinner and I'm so happy I found a fast casual Mexican place that's authentic but still has fun menu options! There is definitely something here for everyone: tacos, burritos, quesadillas, chips/salsa/queso you name it. And they've got a very long list of protein options: chicken tinga/adobo, steak, tofu, veggie, crispy shrimp, bulgogi, and the list goes on. The staff is so helpful! I was having a hard time deciding between a taco, burrito, or quesadilla and they said I definitely have to try the quesadilla. I'm so glad I did! The adobo chicken was very flavorful, and the quesadilla was nice and crispy (I can't stand a soggy quesadilla). It was definitely heavy on peppers, but they do ask at the counter if you want with peppers and onions or without. The quesadilla comes served with sour cream and pico de gallo. We also tried all the salsas, and my favorites were definitely the mild and hot. There is seating inside and plenty of tables outside as well. Definitely stop by and try Bandit Taco if you are in the area!

Tiffany J.

Yelp
Love these tacos ! Fast and good service! The Korean bbq burrito and taco is good . Shrimp taco sauce slightly a spicy but still good

Svet H.

Yelp
Steak burrito was bland. Quesadilla was drenched in oil. Chips and salsa came with general pico de gallo salsa.

Jim T.

Yelp
Good food at a reasonable price in a nice atmosphere with pretty quick service during the day and on some weeknights. However, on weekend nights they stop serving the community as a walk-in quick service restaurant and basically just become an assembly line for delivery orders -- it becomes pointless to even try to stop by for food then, as the wait times are absurd, the staff is cranky and overwhelmed, and the waiting area is packed with frustrated drivers. Hopefully they can figure out a system to meet their delivery demands while still functioning as a walk-in community establishment.

Ruby R.

Yelp
Tasty blend of Mexican food and Korean flair,I highly recommend the cassava fries, and the Guacamole dip their sauces are superb,Easy online order and ice patio area and a cozy casual dinning area.Very tasty food.

Amy D.

Yelp
This taco place is either for bougie people or people who don't care about paying a premium for good food! The portions are small but the ingredients are quality and the flavors are all there! When I got my platter I intended to write a review about how expensive the food was and how small the portions were... and then I took my first bite. Can't wait to return and spend so much more money!! I ordered the fish taco and the shrimp taco and yucca. 10/10

Gray ..

Yelp
Great tacos, and amazing service. Highly recommend if you're looking for a quick cheap bite to eat. Tacos are around $3-$5 dollars.

Phoebe D.

Yelp
Great tacos with a variety of options! I got the carnitas, al pastor, and fish tacos. The fish taco was by far the best one - definitely a must-try and something I'd go back for! The al pastor wasn't bad, but I found it to be a bit dry, so I would say the carnitas is the better pork option. The price is reasonable but the tacos are also tiny - I ate three and was decently full but I probably could have eaten four or five comfortably. They did have pretty good deals for Taco Tuesday though, with select tacos being only $2.50.

Andrew S.

Yelp
This just can't compare to most Mexican restaurants in Los Angeles. I was wandering the streets looking for lunch options when I stumbled across Bandit Tacos. It was a beautiful day, eating outside seemed like a very good idea. It was a great idea! The menu is displayed on the wall for your convenience. I ordered the breakfast burrito, which consisted of chorizo, eggs, cheese, sour cream, and pico de gallo. I also had an order of chips and salsa. The breakfast burrito would have been amazing, but sadly the big chucks of cold cheese ruined the entire burrito. Why didn't they put the burrito back on the grill to melt the dang cheese? Chips and salsa were okay, I think the salsa could have had more salt? It was missing something and all I really tasted was the jalapenos. I am curious to give their tacos a try if i'm ever back in the area during a future visit.... Prices are average for a typical Mexican restaurant. The space is quite large, with seating on both sides of the restaurant and additional seating outside on the patio. They have a very open space and layout, which makes it very bright inside. The restaurant and restrooms are very well maintained. I noticed how clean it was.

Diamond P.

Yelp
I've been coming here for years. Just august 1st they cut my corn in half, no problem. Today they lied and said they've never cut the corn for customers. Food is great but the customer service has declined drastically. No longer feel valued as a customer. Tried to gaslight me like I was making it up. Clearly they've done it before. $46.75 spent on LUNCH & cutting my corn in half is a problem. Food is great, service is not. Haven't seen the owners in years. Unfortunate how they treat another small business owner in the SAME NEIGHBORHOOD. "We don't do special requests bc of people like you."
