Bandol Review - Chelsea - London - The Infatuation

"Bandol is a chic (yes, we said chic) and sophisticated southern French spot with a live tree in the middle of the dining room. Because mother nature never goes out of fashion. Or something. The menu is a mix of sharing plates like tuna tartare and aubergine millefeuille, with larger mains like lobster linguine too. This place is the perfect start to a boozy night where you want to get a bit dressed up (sit at the golden bar), or your final destination for a date with someone who enjoys a bit of glitz." - Heidi Lauth Beasley

Bandol

"A true neighbourhood restaurant, Bandol offers a delightful all-round package to the residents of Chelsea, from the bright, airy décor to the genial, welcoming service. A 100 year old olive tree stands in the middle of the dining room, evoking sunny days spent on the French Riviera. The menu reflects this, with inspiration coming from all over the Mediterranean, including plenty of Provençal and Niçoise influences. Seafood is often a highlight, but if you're visiting on a cold day don't overlook the restorative power of the confit duck with lentil stew." - Michelin Inspector

All the main dishes ordered are great, starters and desserts are less so so average 4 for food. Service there is super nice though. Worth re-visiting for simple meal.

I went there to celebrate my birthday and my high expectations about Bandol were satisfied. We had a great experience at this restaurant and in my honest opinion this is a hidden culinary gem. The atmosphere is very shic, the quality of food is excellent, all dishes are very delicious, the service is brilliant and for anyone who love French classic cuisine, cooked into high standard this is the place to visit. I have recommended Bandol to all of my friends and for this weekend I already made another booking for this brilliant restaurant. Thank you!

September 2024 review: Locate it just a Stone throw through away from Chelsea And Westminster Hospital, this French restaurant has outdoor seating as well as a bar area as your first entered followed by a very plush dining area with a tree in the middle of it. The foie grae as a starter is very good, it was in the form of a terrine with fruits and therefore not too heavy with some toasted brioche triangles. The crab linguine mains was a small dish but thankfully so as the foie grae was heavy and filling . It was well balanced with no fishiness to it. The Cocktail was a house special but unfortunately too sweet. Service was good and attentive. May 2024 review: Beautiful outdoor seating with white table cloths as well as lovely interior, bar and high copper tables at the entrance followed but dining area of square tables on the right and circular bottom style tables on the left with a private dining area at the start of the left. A skyline with a tree in the middle of the room with large copper lights above the tables Foie gras was good. Wasn’t what I was expecting. It looked more like a terrine with pieces of fruit in it served with some greens and sliced peach and two brioche triangles. Not the best foie I’ve had but I would say it’s closer towards the top end of the scale. The red wine by the glass, Château Chereau was good but I think overpriced for the £13 per glass. Service is very good, especially with keen and the manager.

If I could give the service 10 stars, I would. Our dinner was absolutely fantastic. Great little neighborhood place with a fresh, sophisticated menu.

This restaurant is one of the finest in West London. Everything about it is fantastic. They serve some of the best cocktails I’ve come across and the food is amazing. Highly commended

Had a pleasant dinner with the family at Bandol ! We were a group of 8 and decided to order a selection of starters to share. Service was prompt, efficient and friendly. From Octopus, to squid ink risotto and the beetroot salad, each dish was tasty and unique ! For the mains we had the fillet steak, lobster and crab Tortellini and the lavender duck breast among other dishes. Overall a great evening out. Thoroughly enjoyed !

Nice decoration and atmosphere, pretty casual for friends to hang out here. The appetizers are really amazing. I would say the fish dish is the highlight if this restaurant. However, the mains take so long to come out and they are not as good as the appetizers. Personally the overall food is 8/10 comparing to a decent price that I get. Even though the service is slightly slow, the waiters are very friendly.

We were served my Mya who was consistent in verifying that we were comfortable and pleased with our dinner. My partner and I had some sharing plates for starters… our favorites were the ceviche, yellow fin tuna and salmon, beef tartare. I ordered the rack of lamb as my main but there was no lamb. One of the staff recommended beef which was not on the menu however turned out to be a good substitute. We had no drinks apart from water. After going to sister restaurant Margaux two days prior, we have to say we prefer this one.

Yelp
Bandol was so good we went twice, and the second time we brought friends. It's located on a quiet block about a 10 minute walk from both the Earl's Court and West Brompton tube station. There are 5-6 other restaurants and bars in the block and they all look pretty good. Over the course of two nights, we had the beetroot salad, foie gras terrine, bouillabaisse, duck breast, scallops and the black ink risotto. Service was excellent - helpful and friendly but not intrusive. Sit outside if it's a nice evening. I highly recommend this restaurant.

Yelp
I had a takeaway of the wonderful steak, frites and bearnaise sauce. It was absolutely delicious. The best. Nicely pink and very tasty. Higly recommend.

Yelp
My family came to Bandol for dinner our last night in London, and it was a great way to wrap up our trip. I ordered the pappardelle with rabbit ragu, which was hearty, well-seasoned, and overall delicious. My mom and sister both got the grilled octopus, which they both enjoyed. The charred olive crust added a nice touch, despite my sister not being a fan of olives in the slightest. They, along with my dad, also ordered the sea bass ceviche. This was an interesting, but tasty, twist on ceviche since it came with charred corn and sweet potato. My dad enjoyed his main course of the bouillabaisse, even though it was less stew-ish than he was expecting. I would definitely recommend checking out Bandol for a casual meal with an innovative menu!

Yelp
AJ suggested the most amazing dishes. Sorry the pictures where taken half way through devouring aubergine with goat cheese was perfect !! The cheese was the perfect blend, asparagus avocado quinoa salad was perfect! . Turbo and duck also perfectly cooked - all the sauces enhanced the meal without over powering . Also so refreshing not to feel that there was to much salt , so could taste all the herbs and ingredients. To end the strawberry sorbet - is made in house and beyond amazing - we however added hot fudge to put together and we fought over the last bite . Try it you.

Yelp
Had a great dinner at Bandol last night. Got the stone bass carpaccio followed by the pappardelle followed by the lavender crime brûlée. Service was timely and food was great

Yelp
Beautiful food in beautiful surroundings. A new favourite lunch spot for us. Stumbled upon this place when the restaurant next door wasn't open. What a find! Will definitely be returning again and again. Fantastic service as well.

Yelp
The service at Bandol is absolutely horrendous. Annoyingly inattentive and yet strangely affected. Decent kitchen, meals unoriginal although well presented, but absolutely rock bottom service lets the whole thing down. Given the number of alternatives on Hollywood Road and in the vicinity, I see no reason to return to this restaurant, and I'd recommend others to try elsewhere.

Yelp
Came to Bandol for dinner, very nice decor, friendly service. The wine was great and the starters were tasty - steak tartare and artichoke salad. The food did take awhile to come but when it did, it was worth it. For the main course, all of us had the fillet steak, 2 cooked rare and one bleu. Cooked very well, literally perfect, very tasty. The presentation was also great. We ordered a couple of sides in addition to the vegatables that came with the steak. For dessert, the tarte tartin but with vanilla ice cream and coffee. Again the food was fantastic. Overall despite a slower start in terms of service (but friendly nonetheless), the food was great, the atmosphere warm and we left very happy to return for round number two!
