"Today is opening day for Bandoola Bowl in Georgetown, which brings the neighborhood a 2,000-square-foot venue for protein-packed salads spiked with fish sauce. The two-story venture (1069 Wisconsin Avenue NW) represents the first fast-casual business for the family behind Burmese destination Mandalay Restaurant, which debuted in Silver Spring in 2004. The opening lineup includes 10 bowls, and the shop will run limited hours (10:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.) to start. Shweji, a Burmese semolina cake, is the sole dessert on the menu for now. Thinly sliced or chopped vegetables and shredded cabbage act as a base for toppings and toss-ins like fried garlic and shallots, crispy yellow split peas, chopped peanuts, and sesame seeds. Sour, tart, and umami flavors of fish sauce play up each bowl’s star vegetable, fruit, or protein. At Bandoola, those include broccoli, raw shredded ginger, fresh green papaya and mango, roasted pork, grilled chicken, steamed shrimp, and lightly fried tofu." - Tierney Plumb

WOW!!! This bowl is AMAZING! My noodle bowl is vinegary, tangy, crunchy, and full of flavor!! And super healthy. I wasn’t expecting much after seeing the small amount of topping options but I am blown away. I wish this was on Capitol Hill so I can eat it everyday! The staff was also super nice and helpful since it was my first time.

Really tasty! A healthy, reasonably priced quick bite—and not one you’ll likely find anywhere else. It’s the first time I’ve seen southeast Asian food (and especially Burmese food) get the “Chipotle treatment,” and it turned out quite well. I ordered the curried chickpea salad with all the fixings (pictured below); needless to say it was well-seasoned and flavorful. Also—the staff were super kind. Will likely go again!

A must have on your next day in Georgetown! The employees here were so friendly and walked us through the highlights of the menu (spoiler, it was all a highlight 😍) and even let us taste some sauces before creating our bowl. We took our bowls to go to eat by the waterfront because its a super close walk but there is also indoor dining available. The food was all super fresh and delicious with plenty of vegan and gluten free options. And you choose your spiciness level to get it just how you like it!

OMG, way more tasteful than I expected. After sightseeing Georgetown, I was seeking something healthy and light to grub on. Luckily traffic was low so customer service was speedy and friendly. Limited seating upstairs available. Food was really good. Portion size was fulfilling.

Very delicious with side of healthy! I got the warm pork bowl with rice noodles. This usually comes with tomatoes but I asked to not have them and to add corn. I got mine spicy and it was perfect heat level that also balanced with great taste (spicy foods are a favorite of mine). Wish I lived in the area, I would definitely eat here regularly. Perfect place for a combination of world food/healthy options/spiciness. My girlfriend got the cold pork salad bowl (with mild spice) and we don't remember what the employees suggested to add to it but it was also delicious.

Burmese restaurants are popping up throughout the D.C. area all with the goal of making the cuisine "more accessible." If there's one restaurant that will achieve this goal, it's Bandoola Bowl. Here's why: 1) Food: They break down the key ingredients and flavors of Burmese cuisine into a fast-casual concept. They make rice and noodle bowls with your choice of protein (pork, chicken, tofu, etc) and fixings (veggies, sauce, etc). They also have soups and a traditional dessert. We ordered the spicy noodle bowl with the best-seasoned pork we've ever had. Within three bites, my wife looked over at me and said, "I will craze this often." The food is quality, delicious, and accessible. Even our three-year-old loved the rice and noodles. The dessert is a traditional cake with raisins in it. I do not like raisins, but there aren't many in it and the taste is amazing. 2) Service: I can confidently say the stay are the most friendly I've ever encountered. Once they sensed it was our first visit, they welcomed us and let us try their food before ordering. They brought our food to us unasked and even stopped by with a free dessert. They made us feel like family! 3) Location: It's in Georgetown just off of M Street near several other fast-casual restaurants like Taim (a falafel place from NYC). It's the perfect spot to attract students, tourists, and locals.

Amazing! My girlfriend and I made a special trip to visit and extremely happy we did! Super friendly staff and service; large portions and perfect flavors. They are willing to adjust and accommodate for anything from spicier to mild or adding/subtracting items. We will be back again... and again! Yum!

What a cute little salad place in the heart of Georgetown. It’s a small Burmese salad place. The salad was so flavorful. They have a rice noodle which is a great gluten free option.
