Burmese restaurants are popping up throughout the D.C. area all with the goal of making the cuisine "more accessible." If there's one restaurant that will achieve this goal, it's Bandoola Bowl. Here's why:
1) Food: They break down the key ingredients and flavors of Burmese cuisine into a fast-casual concept. They make rice and noodle bowls with your choice of protein (pork, chicken, tofu, etc) and fixings (veggies, sauce, etc). They also have soups and a traditional dessert. We ordered the spicy noodle bowl with the best-seasoned pork we've ever had. Within three bites, my wife looked over at me and said, "I will craze this often." The food is quality, delicious, and accessible. Even our three-year-old loved the rice and noodles. The dessert is a traditional cake with raisins in it. I do not like raisins, but there aren't many in it and the taste is amazing.
2) Service: I can confidently say the stay are the most friendly I've ever encountered. Once they sensed it was our first visit, they welcomed us and let us try their food before ordering. They brought our food to us unasked and even stopped by with a free dessert. They made us feel like family!
3) Location: It's in Georgetown just off of M Street near several other fast-casual restaurants like Taim (a falafel place from NYC). It's the perfect spot to attract students, tourists, and locals.
