Counter-serve with New Mexican specialties, vegan options

"New Mexican food is a rarity in Seattle, but Hatch chile fans, rejoice! Those famous, earthy chiles are in everything at Bang Bang, from the breakfast burrito to the queso in the breakfast sandwich, even in the scones. And while a green chile scone might not be for everyone, it really works as part of the Duke City Breakfast, where’s it’s served with a sunny side up egg and swimming in a pool of green chile queso — it’s creamy and cheesy and has only a little bit of spice. If you’re eating here, you can get free refills on drip coffee (roasted at Lighthouse)." - Harry Cheadle

"I note that Bang Bang Cafe in Belltown reopened in late November after an extended pandemic hiatus, and sisters Miki and Yuki Sodos used the downtime to renovate and revamp the space — adding a new bar, HVAC, a new chef, and in-house baked goods. With chef Derek Castro (recently from the now-closed Cafe Pettirosso) overseeing an expanded menu, longtime favorites like meaty or vegan burritos smothered in “Xmas” (red and green chile sauces) now sit alongside further New Mexican dishes such as posole, tortas, and queso, plus house-baked treats including biscochito shortbread cookies, conchas, and green chile cheddar scones. The cafe is currently open Tuesday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. with plans to expand hours, and it also serves wine, beer, cocktails, and Lighthouse Roasters coffee." - Adam H. Callaghan

"As co-owner of Bang Bang Cafe (as well as Bang Bang Kitchen and Cafe Pettirosso), Miki Sodos described negative experiences with delivery apps that leave her with angry customers who didn’t get the order they asked for; she emphasized that her menu and logo are intellectual property she developed and should not be used without her explicit permission, and she hopes the new law will make a big difference." - Gabe Guarente

"I report that Miki Sodos, co-owner of Bang Bang Cafe, said SRW fees had been prohibitive and that there was pressure to sign up because “if you don’t participate, sales go down dramatically.”" - Gabe Guarente

"In response to rising COVID cases and Gov. Jay Inslee’s renewed restrictions, I found that Bang Bang Cafe has announced a temporary closure of all services as part of the wave of restaurants pausing operations; outdoor seating and takeout remain allowed statewide while dining rooms must stay closed until at least December 14." - Gabe Guarente
