General Election 2019 | Where to Eat When Canvassing in Hendon | Eater London

"On the border of Hendon (and technically outside it by about 5m), Bang Bang is the food hall that sprung up phoenix-like from the ashes of the old Oriental City. With an outpost of Golden Dragon for dimsum on the ground floor and around 20 stalls spanning the food of east Asia from regional Chinese to Malaysian, Korean and Taiwanese bubble tea, this is one of the few places anywhere in London which could feed a big group of canvassers and have something for everyone." - Jonathan Nunn

One of the best selections of oriental cuisine under one roof - particularly liked the Bali menu and the Indonesian chicken rice was excellent. Plenty of choice for drinks too. We were keen on Malaysian as not always easy to find a good place compared to some other cuisines like Chinese and Thai, however the place shut for staff break from 4 to 5pm, the food hall shuts at 6 on Sundays - that was a shame. The portion sizes are huge, rather off-putting, most places have take away boxes for 50p, saw some had got their own boxes to take home which is a good idea, didn’t see any water fountain so good to bring one of your own bottle.

Went for lunch with a friend and shared dishes. Great selection of food. The service didn’t take too long, alarms are given and you collect when it’s ready. We tried the whole deep fried chicken, at Taikula Chicken, that was delicious highly recommended. Also, recommend the steamed dumplings from Royal China. Masala chips were scrumptious. Plenty of other stuff to try. Also tried stir fry beef with rice, you may want to bring your own takeaway container as the portion was massive!

Amazing food. Cheap and amazing portion. Deffo lots of MSG but who doesn’t love a little. Would recommend if you are taking family or want a hearty quick and cheap meal. Seating is limited as it is always packed so be on the look out for people leaving to get a good seat.

I am so happy to see so many quality Asian food varieties under one roof. Great place to go with friends if you're not sure what food you want. I had great expectations and happy to say they were fulfilled. I tried at least one item on the menu of 6 different places. There parking in Asda car park, and helpfully there is an Asian supermarket next door too. There's plenty of seating in the food court and everything is very clean!

A food court offering cuisine from various Asian countries. There are many countries to choose from, and you are given a flashing buzzer, which alerts you when your order is ready. Despite the food court being pretty big, it can be almost impossible to get a seat during busy periods. In addition to the food court, there is a small shop selling Asian snacks and drinks, just outside the entrance to the food court (but still within the building). There is also a large Chinese restaurant downstairs. There is a second floor, although it is used for community events, rather than offering additional shops or seating. There is also a large Chinese supermarket (Loon Fung) close to the building. It is not physically connected, but given that it is only about 20 seconds away, it is worth visiting too, if you're looking for Chinese/Asian groceries. There's a large underground car park, which offers free customer parking. Unfortunately, there are often lots of homeless people loitering around by the entrance, asking people for money. This can feel a little intimidating at times, especially late in the evening. Due to its location on the outskirts of London, this does not feel even remotely touristy, especially when compared to Chinatown. However, that gives it a far more authentic feel. There are lots of events throughout the year too, especially during Chinese New Year. 100% worth visiting.

A very very busy Asian food hall in north west London, don’t go on a Friday evening because it’ll be difficult to find a seat and for some eateries the wait time will be long but that tells you it’ll be worth it. Such a great selection of different foods it’s hard to pick from so much choice so we decided to share a selection of things. The Masala chips were banging and the octopus balls (takoyaki) was a strangely delightful experience. Will definitely be heading back to try something different

This spot is a true paradise for lovers of Asian cuisine. Located in Edgware, this food hall features fantastic dining options, including the renowned Four Seasons, famous for its delectable roast meats, particularly the duck. Getting to the food hall from Colindale Station is quite simple; it’s just a 15-minute walk, but there’s also a bus option available. The service here is impressively quick. They provide a buzzer to alert you when your food is ready, which is especially efficient, even during busy Friday evenings. The only downside to this food hall was the chill in the air. Initially, we were seated by the door, and whenever it opened, a cold draft swept through since there was no heating. Fortunately, we managed to combine two tables to accommodate our group of seven.

An East Asian Food Lover’s Paradise! 🍜🥢 Bang Bang Oriental is a must-visit for anyone who loves authentic Asian cuisine, offering a huge variety of food stalls all under one roof. Whether you’re in the mood for Chinese, Thai, Malaysian, Korean, Vietnamese, Japanese, or even Indian food, there’s something delicious for everyone. I've visited multiple times and tried out a number of different stalls, and one of the best things about Bang Bang Oriental is the atmosphere—the aroma of freshly cooked dishes fills the air, creating an exciting yet relaxed vibe. It’s a great place to come with friends, family, or even solo if you enjoy exploring different flavors. The Hakka food stall stood out for its generous portion sizes, making it great value for money. The Singaporean stall’s fish soup was another highlight, with a rich and flavorsome broth that was full of depth. The bubble tea and dessert stalls also had plenty of great options to finish off the meal on a sweet note. I also really liked that it offers a variety of different Chinese cuisines, whether it’s Sichuan, Cantonese, or Northern Chinese food, so there’s always something new to try. One minor downside is that finding seating during peak hours can be tricky. If you’re going with a group of six or more, it can be difficult to find enough seats together, so it's best to go during quieter periods, arrive earlier, or be prepared to wait for a table. To give credit, the place is huge, so they can only do so much with the seating arrangement, but it’s something to keep in mind. Overall, Bang Bang Oriental is a fantastic spot for food lovers, offering authentic Asian street food in a vibrant setting. Whether you want a casual meal or a mini food adventure, this place is highly recommended!
