Auntie Banh Mi Review - Shoreditch - London - The Infatuation

"Auntie Banh Mi is a Lao family-focused bánh mì pop-up that you 100% want to know where it will next be. Their menu alternates, each one named after a family member, and the Auntie special feature cả lụa, spam, 24-hour roast pork and a smear of homemade pâté is probably the best all-pork bánh mì you can eat in London. The Brother In-Law, filled with fried chicken spring rolls is also excellent, and there’s always at least one vegetarian option. Whatever you do, don’t shy away from the family jeow, a sour and numbing Lao chilli paste that takes these sandwiches to the next level." - Jake Missing

We fondly call him the Banh Mi Ghost Man because sometimes his van just appears near London Fields and then you KNOW your Friday is about to get at least 10x better because these sandos are 11/10! We've had various pork and chicken offerings and every time they've been so great. The bread is very nice too but all those pickled accoutrements? Knocked out of the park EVERY TIME! When you see the ghost van appear, you must visit!

Slow cooked lamb falling apart in the softest banh mi bread I've ever had. This is the best in the area, and one of the best I've had.

Best Banh Mi I ever had! The meat is so tender and tasty. Home-made pickles and mayonnaise. Everything is super fresh and made to the minute. The owner is super friendly and is a former chef. I definitely recommend it.

Usually delicious food, but I had an unfortunate experience recently regarding food safety. You served me raw chicken, which I ate until the last few mouthfuls when I saw it was raw in places in. Dangerous and unacceptable.

This banh mi blew my socks off. Chinese bbq pork was divine, the pickled vegetables inside delicious. Can't recommend this place enough. Very relaxed and friendly guy running it. 10/10

Actually quite good and delicious. The bread is particularly wonderful 💯😊 they only do takeout as it is sold in a van.

Always a queue outside. Initially a bit put off by the idea of duck pate in a sandwich but honestly it was great - you can't really taste it. Will have to try others!
