This hidden gem was perfect on a hot day! The food was so good I forgot to take a picture. Had the tofu ban mi, Bot Chien, Tofu salad rolls and Thai iced tea. Restroom was clean, staff was kind, atmosphere is very calm. They also have an atm and lottery.

I used to live in Vietnam and I wanted to have cuisine besides pho, Banh Mi, and bbh when I came back stateside. Just put a side by side photo of the Banh Khot I had here and the best one that my GF and I had when we were in Mui Ne for vacation. The one here in Portland is very good and is on par with some in Vung Tau. I will come back!

I ordered bánh mì bò kho but besides onions 🧅 and beefs there no other veggie like carrots 🥕 ect. Yummy soup bò kho.

Little hole in the wall, mom-and-pop-shop kind of place. Lol it's super random here, there's an ATM inside and you can play the lotto. I ordered banh khot and canh bun. Husband ordered their beef pho. His pho noodles were over boiled and started to break into pieces as he ate, so that's one downside to his meal. He thinks the broth had good flavor though. My canh bun and banh khot were delicious! I noticed my chopsticks were a little dirty, like it was kind of sticky. Like they had a film on it, not sure if it makes sense. They do keep their utensils out on the table so maybe it's just been sitting there a while?

Google
Got pork banh mi and almond cookies. Banh mi was excellent, bread was so tender and so crisp. Excellent pork filling and pickles. Forgot cash and a person inside offered to cover me; 5/5.

Had the most delicious vermicelli combo! I’ll be back!

Came in for lunch. Our crew got a couple sandwiches and canh bun. So godamn good. I would go back here if I lived in town. Flavors are huge and the food tastes like it's home cooked. High recommend here.

Google
Was super hungry at 10am on a Monday morning and they were one of the only bahn mi spots open, and I was thankful. Got 2 B1 classic bahn mi’s, they were $6.50 each, and they were delicious. The bread was light and crisp, still warm. And none of the toppings were overbearing or cancelled each other, only complimentary. Highly recommend, will be returning!

Yelp
This little spot has some affordable banh mi! There is plenty of parking out front. They sell some items prepacked to go and a few I had not seen, like banh khot. I ordered the tofu banh mi and a Thai iced tea! The bread was warm, crispy, soft, and delicious - so airy and thin - it almost collapses when compressed. The veggies and tofu are in good ratio to each other - but not to the bread. However, for the price - the amount of filling feels okay. I liked the flavors overall. The Thai tea was great. I will say I seemed to taste sugar granules at the bottom when slurping up the last sip - which I never tasted before in Thai tea - usually sweetened condensed milk and tea I thought, not sure. I'll be back to try more. You can even play lotto there!

Yelp
I thought i had reviewed this in the past but I guess I have not. One of my favorite places for a Bahn Mi or the bahn knot as far as i know the only place that serves this Vietnamese little shrimp pancake. Small family run place with maybe about 4 or 5 tables and some video machines in back. Well worth the trip for the bahn not and of course the rest of the menu is worth checking out. We usually stick to that and the bahn mi which is still reasonable priced.

Yelp
When I saw that this place serves banh khot, I was sold! It's so hard to find that around here so I'm glad I found it not too far from me. It's a very homey vibe, nothing fancy at all. In fact, there's some type of gambling entertainment in the next room over but it didn't take away from my dining experience one bit. The owner took care of us right away and the food came out in a timely manner. The banh khot was everything I'd hope for. I should have ordered some to go. For it being a hole in the wall, it was pretty busy. I'd def come back for more.

Yelp
A hidden gem and hole in the wall place for some home cooked Vietnamese food. One of the few places where you're served hot tea for free! They even have bank khot which is hard to find around here. The owner immediately took care of us. This place is a no frills restaurant and there seems to be a slots room of some sort in the back where ppl were coming in and out of. I ordered the bun cha Gio thit nuong and it hit the spot! The portions were a bit small but everything was very good.

Yelp
Pretty good! Got the vegetarian bahn mi, the bread was amazing!! Didn't love the tofu flavor as much and unfortunately was out of the other appetizers and such. But was fun to try!!

Yelp
I love bánh mì and this hole-in-the-wall restaurant was highly recommended, so I was very excited to check it out. It's in a small little plaza with plenty of parking, but windows are barricaded for obvious reasons. It's a very small restaurant and you're immediately greeted with very homey, Vietnamese food smells. I'll have to try their other dishes next time, as they have lots of Vietnamese street foods. We came in just for bánh mì, so we ordered four: thit nuong, tofu, dac biet, and nem nuong. I was incredibly disappointed by the lack of ingredients in each one. While the pate tasted amazing and the protein was marinated nicely, there was just enough to line the inside of the banh mi. Then they covered it thickly with vegetables. I wish there was more. I'd highly recommend the tofu of all of these but probably won't go back for Vietnamese subs.

Yelp
Some things just show that extra care. As I was waiting to pay for my sandwich I saw the two ladies behind the counter, heating the sandwiches. Making sure they were uniformly warm and filled. It looked cramped but efficient. I had recently had a dental implant replaced so I was looking forward to a banh mi since that is the last thing you want on an empty gap on your gum. Again I panicked on what to get. I got the shredded pork and pork skin. I was thinking chicharrone but that is not what it is. I really disliked the skin but that was my fault. I loved the warm crispy bread and finely sliced veggies. It has a decent price too. I'm a fan. I'll be back.

Yelp
This place is so underated and literally hole in the wall!!! Across the street from another Vietnamese grocery store called Hong Phat. Their banh mi are top notch and super flavorful and the bread crunchiness vs softness is just perfect. their price is comparable and even a bit cheaper than most places in SE Portland. Being a sandwich lover and personally hate biting into the part where there's nothing,. no sauce, no ingredients etc, - NO this place made my mouth ascend to food heaven with each bite. kid you not, very flavorful and savory, every bite worth wowing or moaning. Their grilled pork banh mi was very different, wasn't ordinary slice of marinated pork meat charred on a grill. It was chopped, seasoned and marinated - this was super delicious and juicy. Explosion to food paradise with every bite! The other choice was nem nuong which carries a more sweet and savory taste - both again were just super delicious! Two very authentic ladies running the place and kitchen or probably more that doesn't work store front but is very authentic. Bun bo hue was even more surprising! broth was not like any other kind tried at most Vietnamese restaurants in SE Portland. Definitely have referred friends and families and already made 2-3 trips returning for more sandwiches. Will return 10/10 again and try out the bun rieu and this is the #1 place for banh mi in SE Portland. Authentic, affordable price, large portion and every bite is sensational!

Yelp
This place is a hole in the wall, which means you have to expect the food to be good. If you want authentic viet food, this is your place. Ordered the bot chien, banh khot, and crab udon. I rarely eat any of these dishes, so I don't have much to compare to but they were all good. Food came out quick and service was fine.

Yelp
Probably my favorite spot for Vietnamese. Bigger portions, lower price points, unique offerings. Aside ordering my usual (see previous review), today I tried another not often seen dish: rice cake and egg. So good. The borderline sketchy crowd is just part of the vibe.

Yelp
An underrated small Vietnamese spot just off of 82nd. The Banh Mi sandwich is standard with all the good fixings. Absolutely best item here are the small shrimp pancakes (see picture), which are savory and crunchy, and so go well with the fish sauce! There are various other vietnamese items here that seem good too, so I would give it a try. Try to position yourself where you can see both the entrance and the people coming out from the Oregon video lottery in the back...Situational awareness is important.

Yelp
good beef stew, gotta try it out VP are always open. parking sucks, and the service is suck

Yelp
Simply the best Banh Mei in Portland. Certainly the best I have ever tasted. I wish I could taste everything on the menu but I order this every-time I am in Portland. The perfectly toasted French roll with crunchy pickled vegetables and savory seasoned pork is the terrific combination at an incredible price. Pass on those blah bready sub sandwiches and spend $5 on the best Banh Mei around. The service is friendly and the wait time is possibly 5-7 minutes for your dinner to go. Easy to find off of I-205, a quick turn and you are minutes away from a delicious, satisfying sandwich. Always savory and phenomenal.

Yelp
Monday @ 1320 (1:20pm) lights out and door padlocked. Sign in window says "Open" as does Yelp. NOT open Came from out of town so this is very annoying.

Yelp
I was craving banh mi and decided to try theirs. I ordered number 1 for myself and maybe because I didn't eat it right away but when I did get home it was just ok. I felt like there wasn't much meat or veggies inside and just tasted ok.
google avatar

Kim T.

Yelp
I love that they open at 8 AM on weekdays so I can grab a bang mi on the way to work. My favorite is the B3 meatball which is flavorful but still light with the usual banh mi veggies. Prices are reasonable as well. Another delicious item there is the Fried Rice Cake &!Eggs!

Yelp
The food is solid. The workers are super nice! The bathroom is very clean. Banh khot: 4.5/5 Vietnamese pancakes. Tasty little bites with the lettuce and herbs, dipped into a sweet tasty dipping sauce. Try This! I've never seen or tried it before. See pics. I can't really describe them. Canh bun: 4.5/5 noodles with tomatoes, crab and tofu Lots of shellfish flavor! Make sure you add the funky sauces they serve with this dish into the soup to taste. Bun bo hue: 3/5 Needs a little more punch and spice - a bit too light in flavor compared to the other bun bo hue I've had in the past. Banh mi: 4/5 Not the largest banh mi I've had but the flavor is there. And the bread they use? So perfect! Outside is crispy, the inside is that light but chewy texture. Just perfect. Bot chien- fried rice cakes and eggs 3.75/5 Not the kind same of fried rice cakes in East Asian cuisine. This was more like the flat rice noodles that were uncut? The texture was more soft than chewy. But nicely pan fried and tasty with the eggs. Little hole in the wall kinda joint with tasty food. Would recommend trying their food.

Yelp
Love the food so much that I came twice within three days :) The first time, I came with my foodie friend and we shared a bowl of banh canh crab, some banh khot and bot chien. Today, with the husband and the kid, we had some Hu tieu, banh khot and bot chien. We also ordered some iced Vietnamese coffee. It was as good as my first time. It is a little restaurant with a few tables, the staff is very friendly. I would recommend this place to the family and friends.

Maryam B.

Yelp
Very small hole in the wall. The pho was fantastic. The staff is all kind and the service was quick. Ordering took a minute but the food arrived quickly after. The restaurant only had three or four tables so it's not really ideal for a group over 4.

Yelp
Honestly good food! Fair price for quantity. Good quality and service. They close on Wednesdays.

Yelp
For a tiny place in a strip mall off 82nd that I would never see myself stopping at, I'm glad I did. I saw this restaurant on one of the lists on Eater PDX, and was intrigued by the Banh Khot. When we entered, the space is so small, but every table was taken and there were people waiting for to-go orders. The place is ran by an elderly woman who was basically doing everything, with two other people helping out. Once we ordered, the banh mi and banh khot came out in good timing. The bread of the sandwich was what surprised me the most. I don't like going to spots like Best Baguette or Lees because the bread is always too hard and cuts the top of my mouth. Here, the bread was crunchy, but soft on the inside, and didn't feel like it was going to hurt when I took a bite. I do wish there had been a little more meat on the inside, but what was there along with the vegetables, tasted good. The banh khot is what I came for, and I was super impressed. It reminded me of Banh Xeo, except in cup form. Each individual one had a shrimp in it, and came along with a plate of veggies and fish sauce to dip. The outer layer was crunchy, and inside was slightly gooey and hot. It was perfect! I also ordered an avocado smoothie, and they do it RIGHT! My one gripe with the location, is that it gets some sketchy people in and around. There was a guy dancing in the middle of the street stopping traffic, and he came in talking nonsense to the owner, and both she and the guy were getting noticeably more and more upset. She probably deals with this kind of crowd often..

Yelp
It was the best of times and the worst of times. On the upside, the Bo Kho for $7.50 was awesome, 4/5. Really complex flavors and light. Nice large French roll to go with it. The salad roll was average with the peanut sauce really lacking 3/5. The Banh Mi with cha siu was pretty bad. Very little filling, no jalapeños really a mediocre Banh Mi not worth buying, even at the low cost. I really wanted to love this place. It's small, cute and clean. I liked the 2 ladies who work here and the service was good. It's got a great "Little Saigon" look and feel. They should stick with soups/stews which they do well and drop the Banh Mi's and other stuff. I would come back here for soups or stews but not the other stuff.

Yelp
Definitely a hole-in-the-wall sort of place. Despite its discreet location and tiny parking space, this place is well-received by many, and rightfully so. Inside, it's quite dark with not much lighting and dark painted walls. The employees are kind and will help you order what you like if needed. My boyfriend and I had the Pho Special. It was delicious and filled us right up. Not a bad thing to say about it. If you're a fan of Vietnamese coffee like my boyfriend is, you'll love it. It's his favorite place to get it. Sometimes he'll go here just for that. Pricing is decent and definitely worth it for what you get. If you're tired of going to the usual well-known Vietnamese restaurants and want to try something more hidden, this should definitely be on your list. Oh, and despite their small appearance, they've gained recognition on local newspapers for their quality in food!

Randa L.

Yelp
The best bahn mi sandwich I've had around here. I got the grilled pork one. The bread is perfectly crisp & fluffy. So much flavor. Get an order of the bahn khot too, they're delicious. Complimentary tea is served as well.
google avatar

Yelp
This hole in the wall Vietnamese mom & pop shop is a must stop by spot. I ended up getting their "canh cua" aka crab udon. Broth was very rich and a large amount of noodles and protein. I've also had their Bun Bo Hue in the past the broth doesn't disappoint.

Yelp
This place is hella OG. Like, forreal forreal. Straight up kinda ghetto in the parking lot and in the inside haha. I came for their bo kho as I was craving some on my day trip for shopping. I walked in, and there were about 4 tables? or 5? but half of them were like 2 person-tables. They were nice and friendly, sat me down, and I received water and a menu. There were like OG Vietnamese guys sitting in front of me haha, like watch dogs, guarding the place, watching carefully everybody that came in and out of the place. This place also doubles as a lottery/corner-store type feel. Kind of funny. If you ain't been in the hood, you'd probably be scared. But I ordered the bo ko hu tieu and a café sua da. Their iced coffee was okay to me. Too floral tasting for me, but it was strong like I liked. Decent. Their bo kho was good, but nothing compared to Seattle's best (huong que). There were lots of meat, a good flavor and they were not stingy at all and there was a bunch of noodles. Yes. Overall, the food was good, but not as thick and flavorful as I'd like. Filling though. For someone outside of town, I'd definitely try again if I was in the area or if I didn't find another good place for bo kho. Small restaurant, small lot, but everyone is so nice. They seem to be known for their banh mi because a lot of people came just for that.

Yelp
I love everything here and some items you can't find (or find easily) in Portland, The Canh Bun is outstanding, especially when tomato season is in its prime. The pancakes....yum. And it never fails when I get Bánh Mì for friends and it knocks them out every time. A Bánh Mì is never just a Bánh Mì when it comes to what they make here. It is a tiny, humble place, but don't be deceived. The dishes are nuanced, authentically crafted and delicious.

Dustin R.

Yelp
This place was so good! I got the Canh Bun and shrimp crepes, both were amazing and the service was fast and friendly. The food was very affordable too. Highly recommend this place!
google avatar

Chris R.

Yelp
I ordered two of the same bahn mi sandwiches. Both had a small amount of chicken smothered in teriyaki sauce. More sauce than meat. They forgot to put the vegetables on one of the sandwiches and I found what looked like pieces of pink pork in my chicken. Also, there was an unmasked customer walking around, blowing their nose, talking to others and then went behind the counter and proceeded to talk with the woman behind the counter right next to where the food is prepared with no mask. I won't go back.
google avatar

Lex F.

Yelp
This place has bahn mi sandwiches for $3.75 and they're delicious . This one was grilled pork. I highly recommend asking for extra meat. They tend to go pretty light w/ it.

Yelp
Years ago there was a big bahn mi craze and everybody wanted them and articles were written about them, even by me on a foodie website I used to frequent a lot. Then it died down, but the sandwiches were still good, and still cheap. Now here in Portland, most places you go do their version of a bahn mi but want to charge you $6- $8 for one. That's nuts. If you pay more than $3.50 for a bahn mi, Then you are in the wrong place. DON'T DO IT. It's obviously not authentic. Go find a Vietnamese place and you will only pay $2-$3 and that's it and still get great food. I found Nam Loc weeks ago when I happen to be over by the Hong Phat grocery store and I knew I had to try the place out. It's a tiny place with only four or five small tables and a small menu with salad rolls, pho, bahn khot (pancakes), chicken wings and of course a list of eight different sandwiches. Ham with pate, pork sausage, grilled pork, egg, sardines, chicken teriyaki or shredded pork are your options and any one of them are only $2.25. THAT'S IT!!! It comes on some great crusty french bread and tasty veggies inside. Cucumbers, pickled carrots, jalapenos and cilantro with a sweet sauce. I'm usually used to a form of mayo on the sandwiches but they did this other sauce and it worked. The pork was great, but maybe could have used a bit more but it was good and tasted like it should. I had a place I went to occasionally down in Carrollton, TX and this place reminded me of it, minus all the other local Vietnamese cuisine to sample randomly. Nothing on the menu is over $10.00 and that's for and order of chicken wings or a large shrimp and pork salad with Lotus salad. I want to go back and try more, and I will, hopefully soon. The bahn mi was great. Go to places like this, not pretentious food carts that aren't authentic. Get it from the people who were raised on these. Enjoy.

Yelp
Nam loc is a small hole-in-the-wall deli located in a complex with a few other businesses. Because they share parking with the other businesses the lot can get full fairly quickly; there's only 5-6 parking stalls. First, I must say that the menu posted on yelp is extremely outdated and the price is almost 2x more than the old menu on certain items. With that said, I ordered salad rolls. They charged me nearly $5 for each order, which is the price I pay when I go to a full service restaurant. The rolls were not good quality despite being freshly rolled upon order. Each roll contained a thinly sliced piece of meat and a shrimp cut in half. I personally like a thicker cut of meat and not 1 tiny thin slice. That's really stingy!! I also ordered the pan fried rice cake with egg and Banh khot. The rice cake was disappointing. The rice cake was cut in thin 1 inch squares and lacked flavor. They slapped a fried egg on top instead of stir frying together. Their portions and prices don't add up. I don't mind paying more but they need to consider their quality and portions size. Now, the Banh khot was delicious. To my knowledge nam loc is the only place that sells Banh khot. My husband thinks the only reason I really like it is because they are the only ones that sell it and not that it truly taste good. Banh khot is everywhere in Cali, wish more places would sell it up here.

Yelp
Perfect baguette: crunchy on the outside, gooey on the inside. The pork bánh mi was delicious. I also got a bag of tasty salt/ garlic/ chili/ honey covered peanuts.

Yelp
Despite the fact that this place looks like an abandoned convenience store if the "open" sign isn't on, I was hopeful that this hole in the wall would be a diamond in the rough. In the 11 months that my boyfriend and I have been dating, we ever have both dubbed this as the worst meal we've ever had together. It's rare for Yelp to steer me wrong. Hell, we were also really hungry, so even average food would've been acceptable. But ultimately, the words we used to describe our meal were "not good" and "tolerable". We ordered the meatball bahn mi, egg rolls, rice with grilled pork, egg, and shredded pork, and bahn khot (Vietnamese pancakes). We started by eating the egg rolls. Truth be told, I'd rather eat eggrolls from Safeway than from this place. They were dry and barely crispy. Next up, I tried the bahn khot--totally flavorless. It literally looked like they used on shrimp and split it among the 5-7 pancakes (I don't remember how many there were because they tasted dough-y and uncooked, but it was like 1/16 of a shrimp per piece--I posted a photo so you can see what I'm talking about). My boyfriend said the rice itself tasted fine, but the meal was barely pleasant. I had the meatball bahn mi, and it was half empty and dry (posted a picture of this as well). We had to wait 30 minutes before they brought us our food--we sat there and watched them bring out food to someone that came in 10 minutes after we did. Not cool. Overall, do yourself a favor and drive around the corner to House of Bahn Mi or literally any other Vietnamese restaurant. It's worth driving out of your way to avoid this place.

Yelp
I don't want ya'll flooding this place, but I also want it to live long and prosper. This is my go to when I want the comfort of Vietnamese food but I don't want to deal with people or waiting. Soups - good, piping hot, and quick. The best for what ails ya. The wings, not sure why they're like $15 but they are so, so good. Bahn khot - I've never had these anywhere else, so I have nothing to compare them to, but they are delicious. We started with the order of 7 and should have ordered the 14, we just ordered 7 twice. Slightly crispy on the outside, eggy, crepe-y almost, with light fishy shrimp, and dipped in that sauce. Ugh. I have a hard time not ordering them every time... The ladies are nice, they're always watching something on the big TV and usually something behind the counter. The workers who come in to play electronic gambling games call them aunty or some other name of affection. The ambiance isn't what you'd stereotypically bring a date to, which my partner commented on, but once she ate the food - she knew why I brought her there.

Yelp
1Aug19 @ 11:45am Small place in a small strip mall with about 5 tables. No frills here just a few tables and a counter. Friendly service. We had a pork ban mi, chicken wings and salad rolls. We took it to go. The food came out in about 20 minutes. The ban mi bread roll was fresh but there wasn't too much of the inside stuff there. The salad rolls which are actually, we think, spring rolls were good with a fair amount of stuff but fell apart upon the first bite. The chicken wings were the stand out with nice umami/fish and spice. Good stuff. Overall okay with the wings making it worth the visit.

Yelp
Wow! Not expecting such greatness from this tiny little restaurant. We ordered three sandwiches, pork, meatball and tofu. Everything about these delicious sandwiches was right. The bread was crispy on the outside but served warm and fresh. Just the right amount of vegetables and and flavors! We had traveled quite a distance to get sandwiches a Ha Vl only to find they didn't serve sandwiches. How lucky were we to stumble into this obscure restaurant. Not fancy by any means but we were greeted with a smile, quickly seated and hot tea was placed in front of us with no extra charge. I ordered a Thai tea which was just as tasty as my sandwich! Grand total for two drinks, three sandwiches and complimentary hot tea, $13. Yup, we will be back :)

Yelp
The beef stew is the best in the city. Get it with the bread, holy hell. Also, don't be scared, get a Banh mi to go with it. Banh khot is also delicious. The food here is so legit that Andy Ricker will undoubtedly appropriate the menu for his next restaurant.
google avatar

Cam T.

Yelp
They are less heavy-handed with their meat than most banh mi places, but the bread is always hot and toasted. There are very few Vietnamese places that offer Banh Khot (special dough fried with shrimp and vegetables -kind of like a mini pancake), and this is one of them. It's one of their specialties. They come out piping hot, so when you wrap them in crisp veggies and dip them in fish sauce, there comes an explosion of flavor, texture, and heat that happens in your mouth. These are a must-try! Their bubble teas are also decent, although the tapioca balls can sometimes be hard, so I recommend ordering rainbow jelly instead.
google avatar

Tony T.

Yelp
This restaurant reminded me of a classier version of a banh mi joint I visited in Vietnam, greasy windows, sticky tables, gaudy posters and decor and lackluster customer service. We ordered some of the mini seafood pancakes which were pretty good but nothing exceptional with 1 shrimp per mini pancake. Boba tea wasn't even boba, we got the multicolored jelly and they spilled everywhere in my car (they didn't have the plastic sealing lid). For banh mi being their namesake, it wasn't anything super memorable. I've had way better elsewhere even in Portland. Overall, I'd give it the ole Yelp A-OK but this is likely not one I'll go back to again.

Yelp
This little place is easy to miss on busy 82nd, but try it out. Yummy Banh Mi sandwiches for $3 and the Vietnamese pancakes are another must try. They are bite-size with a little piece of shrimp on it. Comes with lettuce and basil for wrapping up and fish sauce mixture for dipping. The staff is always friendly. Beer is $3.

Yelp
Maybe the best Viet iced coffee I've ever had but the portion was almost invisible...finished it in about 5 sips. I will either order a large if they have it next time or just order 2 of 'em! : ) Bahn Mi were amazing. Incredibly simple but on point, flavorful and great great baguette.... I'd temper expectations, but overall, stunning food and coffee here.

Yelp
I was meeting a friend at Hong Phat and needed a close and quick place to eat afterwards. This place was perfect. The place itself isn't anything pretty to look at. This is however a good hole in the wall place. Great food at an excellent price. My friend and I shared a banh mi, pork rolls and their infamous banh khot. All of this for roughly around $15 not including the tip. I would most definitely come here again, if not just for the pork roll and/or the banh khot. The banh khot came with a sweetened fish sauce which complimented the dish nicely. It came with lettuce but we didn't know what to do with it so it just stared at us from the plate judging us. If you ever come to this side of town swing by for a quick snack. No regrets.

Yelp
A delicious little hole in the wall place. Broths were flavorful. Portions were great. The banh khnot was probably my favorite. I could probably eat the larger portion (14 pieces) all by myself if i really wanted.

Yelp
When the Hole in the Wall is Just a Hole! I am addicted to Banh Mi......and been trying out many new places. This one sadly is a bust. I'm keeping it at 2 stars since they were super nice and very welcoming which goes a long way, but there's not anything bringing me back here. It's a small little place in a small outdoor strip mall off 82nd......not the most inviting description I know, but sometimes you have to take a chance on the small out of the way places. The tofu banh mi was just a letdown. It was well priced at $3......but the bread didn't taste very fresh and while the veggies inside were fresh....there was just hardly anything inside the bread. One chunk of tofu wasn't much filler either. More than anything, there just wasn't any nice spicy sauce and buttery goodness that makes these sandwiches all the rage. It's too bad really, and there's too many more better options in this area. Overall it's a cute little place off the busy road......and the lack of overall cleanliness feel and food that was subpar......that's where it ends for me. However....I hope you may try it for yourselves and see how you feel.

Yelp
I'm on the hunt for the best banh mi sandwich and authentic pho restaurant in Portland. Came here to pick up some banh mi sandwiches (we got the number 1 special) and was pleasantly surprised! You can't go wrong with a $3.75 banh mi with pate. Although it wasn't packed with meat like I'm used to, the sandwich itself was delicious. Looking forward to coming back and trying their noodle soups!

Yelp
Wow. I'm surprised this place has not been rated and reviewed yet. Okay, there is one other review but it was filtered. This is definitely a hole in the wall place that has banh mi (Vietnamese sandwiches), tasty cafe sua da (Vietnamese iced coffee w/condense milk), and a variety of soups including options such as banh canh cua (crab udon-like noodle soup), bun bo hue (spicy beef noodle.. not recommended. It's flavor was lacking), etc. I don't believe they have pho. The Vietnamese sandwiches are good. Their banh mi xiu mai (meat ball sandwich) is pretty good. That's the only one I've tried. I'm still loyal to my banh mi xiu mai at Binh Minh Sandwiches though. Their bread here is crusty on the outside, soft on the inside. I don't think they bake it in-house. I at the banh canh cua. Since Vina Deli (where My Brother's Crawfish is located now) closed years ago, I haven't found another place that served a version I liked. This one doesn't really compare to Vina Deli's (which had a thick broth and great flavor), but it's an acceptable replacement. The broth is not as thick as Vina's and the crab has a bright pink color which is kind of sketch, but oh well. I like. My friend had the bun bo hue. It lacked the spicy red color and that in itself took away some umph! Sadly, the taste of the broth represented the color. Underwhelming. I'm going to stick to Bun Bo Hue restaurant for my BBH fix. Lastly, the salad rolls. They use a fatty pork belly which some people loooooooove. I am not as much of a fan. It's not bad though. Just not my thing here. There is shrimp in the salad roll, as well. Random observations: They have video poker and lottery if you're into that... Old Vietnamese men congregate here to sit and chat for hours (it must be a good sign?). The place is quite small and seating is limited.

Yelp
This little place is the REAL deal. This is where the local Vietnamese guys come to eat & drink beer. GREAT PRICES. I had beef stew and these little pancake seafood called Banh Khot u wrap in lettuce & basil leaves. I ordered the salad rolls but some how she didn't put on order. That's ok. Had plenty. Really small. Maybe seat 16 people. Definitely gonna return.
