Best New Restaurants in Wilmington, North Carolina | Eater Carolinas

"One of the most popular food trucks in the area now has a permanent location in the Cargo District. Banh Sai serves up Asian fusion dishes with 1980s flair in the form of burritos, bowls, and more. Pick a protein, a flavor base, and the form (rice bowl, lettuce bowl, or burrito) — the signature Banh Sai base comes with cucumber, jalapeno, cilantro, pickled carrot, pickled daikon radish, green onion, “sticky” sauce, Banh Sai aioli, sesame seeds, and togarashi. There are also wings on Wednesdays, a monthly katsu sandwich special, and Cobra Fries — fries topped with Sriracha, aioli, hoisin, red bell peppers, and scallions." - Matt Lardie

Food and atmosphere are awesome. We came in on a Sunday. Around 1230ish it got packed. First time here and we were greeted immediately and with smiles. Food took a very appropriate time to come out. We loved the cobra fries and OG Bao Buns!. Definitely recommend!

A mouth party. Real ingredients amazing fresh food. So good loved the aioli on top. Pictures are rice and lettuce bowls the closer is a Hawkins (note the mushrooms and kimchi) and the other is a Zelda (jalepenos and sweet Shiloh cucumber salad).

The first time I came in for lunch, I wasn’t very impressed. Service was meh, and food just wasn’t good. But gave them another chance and ordered take out. It was amazing. I ordered the Banh Sai bowl with chicken and Brussel Sprouts. The seasoning was spot on, balanced, bold, and layered without being overwhelming. Every bite had depth, with the rice soaking up all the savory juices and sauces, which tied the whole dish together. The ingredients complemented each other perfectly, and nothing tasted bland or out of place. Left me wanting another bowl! I will be back

Not a very big menu and I hate when I try something I love and then it's not on their menu the next time I go but this last time I went the food was outstanding. The fried Chicken Bao buns were amazing, we got the Sonya blade ( pork katsu sandwich /) it was great but it definitely needed more aioli, kind of dry. I would get both of those things again.

Loved everything about this place. Delicious! And the 80s decor is fun to look at while you wait. So glad I stopped by. Highly recommend!

Wow! So glad we tried this place out, incredible flavors that paired so well together. Amazing tofu (perfect texture) and fried katsu chicken. The cobra fries were extremely crunchy and had great flavor toppings. We’ll be back for Wednesday Wings! Only suggestion, is adding to the outdoor dining like lighting/umbrellas since the weather is so nice out! We ended up having to eat in the dark as the sun set.

usually don’t leave reviews for places unless i feel passionately about a business but THIS restaurant is top tier. the food is 100/10, always tasting as fresh as can be with so much flavor. the kimchi is to die for, as well as the beef bulgogi. i usually get the hawkins and it’s absolutely packed with flavor, and always fills me up without that gross after-feeling (because the food is that fresh.) not to mention the super cool arcade aesthetic!! the hardworking employees make this restaurant feel like pure comfort, all the while maintaining a 100 point grade A health inspection score which is rare and highly praised. would always recommend this place!

First time trying Banh Sai and all I can say is, go eat there right now! The size of the Banh Sai Bowl was huge! Got it with fried chicken and added kimchi, and I could barely finish it. But I’m soo glad because I can eat it again tomorrow LOL! It was excellent! And so was the service. Can’t wait to go back and try something else.
