Banter NYC - West Village

Lunch for 5 on a Saturday. Fried chicken sandwiches were excellent. Thin, tender, crispy chicken breast meat and great flavors. Plus sweet potato fries. Bowls were also very good, fresh veggies, nice dressing, and the same tender chicken, grilled instead of fried (poached egg instead of chicken was great, too). We had a 30 minute wait at 12:30 pm.

Definitely my top brunch place in the area. Such a great variety of breakfast and lunch items. There hasn’t been one dish that I didn’t love. My personal favorite is the falafel bowl!

Nice Aussie inspired cafe and they even made me a Melbourne Magic coffee. If you have experienced the Aussie coffee scene highly recommend coming here. Seating is also nice with a good outdoor area.

Golden folded eggs with halloumi is amazing! Tasty food, super fast service, and classic NYC brunch vibes. Great summer spot near the cobblestone streets of the meatpacking district.

Cozy lunch spot. Great fresh food, fast service, and decent prices. Falafel bowl was fantastic. Hard to find a place that makes a good homemade falafel and these guys nailed it.

Stopped in for brunch on a Saturday with the dog the staff was very kind and accommodating. Got the fried chicken sandwich and wanted to love it but unfortunately did not. The bun was stale… the chicken was dry missing sauce or flavor… The sweet potato fries were super salty you can even see in the photo. Hope they fix - a chicken sandwich is a must have and must be top notch.

Cute and fun brunch spot in the west village.. some cool, kind of on the healthier side options. They dont take reservations so had to wait 20mins on a Saturday morning which was fine. Service was good, food was nice, nothing show-stopping. But would defo go again and will try the other locations.

WOW. I stumbled upon this cute, brunch place and omg, it did not disappoint. To the cute exterior to awesome servers, Banter is def a place to check out! We got the chicken wrap, sweet Potatoe fries, and pesto sandwich. When I tell you this was the best wrap ever, I mean it. Not only did I feel comfortable eating it since it was healthier than your average wrap, the wrap and the side salad were delish! Love the flavor and texture of the dish. The fries were well-cooked but a bit soggy, and the sandwich was filled with flavor and toppings! Definitely have to come back for their coffee bar and spritz! A solid 4.7!

No reservations! Only walk in! This place is so cute and the food is delicious. This cafe serves really wholesome breakfast dishes like eggs and a literal half of an avocado. The drinks here are also so yummy! Service is awesome, food is good, and this location is near a ton of great spots including the high line so you can walk the brunch off after!

Nice brunch place, food is yummy and cappuccinos are great. Ordered the golden eggs which comes with mushroom and kale, folded eggs, bacon and a side of toast. It was delicious and the eggs were so fluffy. Service is quick also but can get crowded and loud even on a weekday so difficult to work on a laptop.

Cute spot to have brunch with the ladies! We visited on a weekday afternoon and we were able to get a table outside with no issue at all. This spot definitely has a very chill, and casual vibe. We didn't feel rushed to leave at any point, and it felt like we could have sat there for hours! Their menu has a lot of nice dishes that can work for both lunch and brunch. Loved the option of getting a side salad with my eggs! :)

Food- I had the salmon toast which exceeded my expectations. It was delicious and the fish was fresh and the toast was crunchy 5/5. The breakfast plate was tasty and felt like it came straight off the farm. 5/5 Service- the plates came out extremely fast and the service was great. The staff was attentive and friendly. Overall I was very pleased with my breakfast at banter and I will be back the next time I'm in New York.

Quaint little place. Chai latte was flavorful. Sourdough was a little hard but that's sourdough for ya. Eggs and bacon did the job.

This brunch place ranks high on my list in New York! The quality of the food was so fresh and the portions were plentiful. This place doesn't take any reservations, so I would recommend coming here on the earlier side if you don't want a long wait. They're able to take your name and phone # to text you when your table is ready. For a table of 4, we got sat in 10 min ~11am. I came here on a Sunday to take my parents around town and I think this is a great place to introduce visitors to what New York food is about. The menu is quite balanced and feels healthy which is a huge plus. The salmon toast was loaded with smoked salmon, so I was left satisfied and full after my meal. I would highly recommend getting one of the juices. There's something about fresh juice and breakfast that tie a meal together! The outdoor seating is as cute as the indoor seating. The staff is also very friendly so the experience was enjoyable overall.

We got seated right away around 1030ish on a Saturday. The space from one table to another is tight but still comfortable. Food was amazing, probably the best brunch place I've had during my visit in the city. I ordered the Bacon Egg Roll, it was very fresh and I could tell that it was prepared with great ingredients. The fries made of sweet potatoes were cooked amazingly. My partner ordered the Fried Chicken Sandwich, the chicken was thinly cut and the breading wasn't thick or overwhelming with right amount of spice and honey. We will definitely go back to this place and highly recommend it.

stopped by for a quick lunch / coffee run with a friend!!! looked like a cute brunch/lunch spot so was really excited to check it out. our server was so kind and kept checking up on us. however, the drinks here were actually abysmal. i'm not a coffee snob but the coffee was horrible and the "house made lemonade" tasted like minute maid but worse according to my friend we both couldn't finish either of the drinks we had. if you go, get your caffeinated beverage before

Good food but the service was pretty bad. We think our server was about to finish her shift and that's why she dropped the check almost right after we got our food. The table was still full of food and drinks. Won't be returning to this location

Food was ok. Generic brunch food that feels like an LA cafe. The food is fresh but nothing really novel. The brunch drinks are solid. Ambiance feels light and airy. Service left a lot to be desired, did not answer the questions about the menu well and were quite rude when we were checking out, had some difficulty getting the check. In a good area if you want to go shopping afterwards, but would go elsewhere.

Pretty good brunch cafe in West Village, but I do think everything was quite standard. The interior was cute and airy and the service was decent. The brunch selection is basically what you'd expect and every other brunch place. Not that that's a bad thing though! I enjoyed the smoked salmon on sourdough toast which came topped with cucumbers and pickled onion. They were very generous with the salmon which I appreciate. The salmon also tasted very fresh. Overall, it was a pretty good meal!

I recently stopped by for breakfast and was super impressed! We ordered the Big Banter Breakfast and the Chicken Salad Wrap, and both dishes were fantastic. The Big Banter Breakfast hit all the right notes, but the standout was definitely the Chicken Salad Wrap--it was delicious, perfectly seasoned, and super fresh. We also had the bonus of sitting outside in the charming West Village, which made the experience even better. Highly recommend for a relaxing meal with great food!

After running a whooping 10 miles with some friends decided to treat myself to a lovely breakfast with the run club at Banter Saturday morning! The wait was not long at all so we figured it was a good sign to eat there - plus a friend had been and said it was delish Shared the salmon toast and bacon sandwich with a friend - may i just say this salmon toast with a poached egg was FIRE - so much salmon came w it and adding the hot sauce on top was sooo delish i recommend everyone to get this. the bacon sandwich was mid - wouldnt order again tbh the banana bread we got for the table and split it was so warm and moist plus the cinnamon dipping sauce - couldnt have been a more perf combo!! would recommend and come back - only con was we were seated outside and for some reason they turned the heaters off randomly, not cool!!

Ordered ice latte, oj and the fresh start. All very delish. The oj seemed freshly squeezed and the fresh start tasted like lemonade with a hint of ginger. Got the big banter and the 2 eggs scrambled. It filled us perfectly. I gave my partner my crispy bacon since he wanted to order it as a side but he just took it from mine. Mini hack? First time trying halloumi and it was very salty. Is it suppose to be that way? Everything else was really good. Would come back to try the other dishes. We saw a table next to us have avocado/salmon toasts and they looked worth the price. Portion was huge and didn't skimp like some other places. Place was packed on a Saturday at 130pm. Liked the music selection too. If you don't read any of any of my review, just take this one huge tip, use the yelp waitlist for this place!! I put us on the waitlist 1 train stop away and by time we walked there, our table was ready for us. Walk-ins had a 20 min wait.

Very delicious food. Best french toast ever and lattes are soooo good. The servers were friendly and I loved the cozy feel, decorations are very cute and overall ambiance was nice. Recommend if you want a cute and yummy breakfast/brunch!

West Village can be a hotspot for brunch, but brunching before 11am helps you avoid that afternoon rush and those 20 party long waiting lists. - Mushroom toast: delicious and good portion size. Would recommend it as a shareable since it tastes the same after a few bites in. - Banter big breakfast: HUGE Service was fast and staff was quite nice. The cafe is snug and cozy.

My friend recommended this small brunch spot and I am so happy she did. This will absolutely be added to my favorite brunch spots in NYC. Definitely coming back here the next time I am in the city! My mouth is watering just thinking of what we ordered. We got: -The smoked salmon toast which came with whipped garlic feta, cucumbers, pickled onions, dill, lemon, sourdough and a poached egg. Don't forget the poached egg! The entire thing is perfectly balanced and season, but that egg really pushes it over the edge. -The nutella french toast served with nutella, blackberries, strawberries, and maple syrup. Wow is all I have to say. I am typically not a sweets type of person, but this french toast was EVERYTHING I dream of. Perfect balace of sweet, nutella, and sour from the fruit. Wasn't overly sweet or heavy.

Reliable space to meet with family and friends for breakfast in a comfortable settings. Staff is always friendly and helpful. We always plan to come here before heading to The Whitney Museum. We splurged on the folded egg breakfast place, nutella french toast and a side of fried chicken. A round of latte and two americanos completed out meal. The housemade hot sauce is mild but tasty and great on the eggs. the folded eggs looked like a rosette surrounded by chopped kale, broccoli, quinoa, avocado and sauteed mushrooms. Nutella french toast served as a great sweet finish.

Busy place, I believe it's walk in only. Recommend joining Yelp waitlist. Cute, small spot. Loud. Nice staff. Very quick service, almost too quick. Matcha latte was good, Nutella French toast was delicious, so was the sourdough bread. The scrambled eggs were fine but not much flavor. A decent brunch spot in a great area.

Had best meal of the deal two mornings in a row at this gem. Most beautiful scrambled eggs ever and they tasted excellent too. Ordered them both days. Nutella French toast was good on morning one but they overdid it on the Nutella and lived in regret for the rest of the day. This morning I switched to the granola yogurt bowl and it was quite possibly best granola I've ever had at a restaurant for bfast. Good coffee and intimate feel in the restaurant and strong service too. $1 refills on coffee seems silly but it's NYC and they make up for it on everything else! Can't wait to come back.

So happy I found this restaurant on my way out of the city. The lunch here was fantastic and I can not wait to return here on my next visit to the village. The food here tasted so incredibly fresh and even my picky dining companions enjoyed everything we tried. I started with an iced matcha latte and my husband tried the golden latte. Both drinks came in a timely fashion and tasted great. For lunch we had the avocado toast and the overnight oats. Definitely get the overnight oats, it was the best item we tried during our entire visit to New York. The presentation of everything was beautiful and I was super impressed with our entire dining experience.

This is my favorite kind of brunch place. Food is delicious, decor is welcoming, and service is solid. This place feels exactly like what you think of when you think of Chelsea and West Village. The smoked salmon on the salmon toast was some of the BEST I've ever had. Felt like I was eating out of the ocean so fresh. The eggs were super fluffy and cooked just right too. I felt full and healthy after this meal. Have been twice now and see myself going back.

Falafel bowl was out of this world!! Had an americano along with it. Nice seating outside.

I went on a Wednesday morning and thankfully it wasn't too busy. It was a nice day out, so I sat outside on the patio. I got the golden folded eggs, which are soft scrambled eggs with sides of: mushrooms, bacon, salad, and avocado. I also got a latte. I loved the side of mushrooms, so delicious! Cute place to grab brunch with friends.

Every item in the menu is so well made w care in ingredients and spice. Buttermilk chicken was AMAZING and the sweet potato fries even better. Loved the mezze platter as well and the avocado toast. New local favorite for the whole family. Btw def try their unique cocktails

Delicious lunch after a walk on the high line!! The staff was pleasant and helpful. They didn't rush us as all. The we sat outdoors which was so lovely watching the world go by. The sweet potato fries w sauce was so yummy. We both loved our toasts. The mushroom toast had a tower of mushrooms on it. Really a delicious meal and experience.

Tariq provided excellent service, the salmon toast was incredible, and I loved the ambience of the outdoor seating. I felt welcomed, not rushed at all, and would say this was my favorite food/coffee spot on my trip to NYC!

Banter is one of my favorite brunch spots in the city! They don't accept reservations which I personally enjoy - we were able to sit down immediately on a Saturday at 11am. Staff here is also lovely! Food and drinks here are both awesome. We got the smoked salmon toast and avocado toast. Smoked salmon toast comes with a lovely cheese spread, a sharper and more elevated nod to cream cheese. Avocado on the avocado toast was nice and fresh. Bread was delicious on both toasts. We also got the sweet potato fries which were cooked perfectly, well seasoned, and came with a great spicy dip. Homemade banana bread was moist and flavorful!

I really don't get all the hype about this place. The Nutella French toast was pretty much disgusting. The fried chicken was good but it's not anything to write home about the breakfast bowls that were so highly touted. We're just OK ices are over the top and they are very busy here. It's probably more like 3 1/2 stars but I just expected more from this place, I'm not looking to go back there

Quaint, fresh, and local! Adorable small brunch spot in the city with outdoor seating. Ordered a smoked salmon toast that was delicious. All of the food our table ordered looked great. Would go back and try the salad that comes with the wrap. Drinks were on point as well. This is a place I'd easily visit once a week.

Quaint cafe serving up brunch and cocktails! Quickly accommodated and quite full during the brunch hours. I'm guessing everyone wants to get their brunch on. It's one of the few spots opened up early in the morning around 9AM so it has that advantage. We were strolling for brunch and Chelsea market shops, majority of them still closed around that time. Big breakfast packs the breakfast plate one is looking for if one wants everything from a breakfast savory plate for the morning. It has a lovely poached egg, bacon, toasted bread, mushrooms, half of an avocado, tomato slices and halloumi grilled cheese (my surprising newfound favorite of how cheese can be made for breakfast)! I adore the freshly squeezed juices (even green juices) and my customized Dirty Chai latte. Fried chicken sandwich with opted quinoa kale salad, was healthy and a clean eats kind of type of entree. The chicken was a bit too dry and on a bit of the fried burnt side. I would suggest some kind of side sauce maybe to go along with it or pickled servings to make the sandwich altogether more balanced. Salad was delicious! Had an outdoor seating here and it was nice to be outside if weather allows it. Service was very attentive here and they made their turns many times. Got all the basis covered, such as hostess and waiters. It was hassle free and clean healthy, eating here!

Fun little eatery in the old meat packing district. Super for breakfast and lunch. Try the mushroom wrap ( grilled with a little spice) and pair with the sweet potato fries. Ask for the chipotle dipping sauce! Yummy! Enjoy!!

I ordered the bacon and egg sandwich and my daughter had the Avocado toast. My sandwich was interesting with the pickled onions; didn't know what to expect; but it tasted good. The ciabatta was a bit hard for me. My daughter enjoyed her Avocado toast; first one she's had with pumpkin seeds in it. Cold brew tasted delicious. Service was good and our waitress was attentive. Ambiance is trendy and bathroom was clean

I found this restaurant on grubhub and am SO unbelievely thankful for them. I order from them any chance I get. I am a very picky eater and have come back to them many many times. They even sent me a croissant with a note in appreciation! YOU GUYS ROCK!! KEEP IT UP!

Banter is a cute cafe that seems great for breakfast and particularly lunch in the west village. Came alone (and other diners also seem to come alone or with small groups of 2-4) and ordered myself a cappuccino and their falafel bowl salad. Their cappuccino had a hint of a chocolate note - but was overall really good. Their falafel bowl had crispy falafels, but it had a nut-free option with a glaze-sauce replacement. Was super happy that they accommodated my allergy with a sauce replacement instead of just removing a component of my meal!

A stable for brunch places with a small to mid size group. The service is consistent and so is the food. The fried chicken sandwich is a bit overrated and could be better. The sweet potato fries are a must order

Heard great things about this place so decided to have a brunch w a few friends there. The food is good not out of this world good. Good thing is there was no wait at the time when we arrived. Portion is small. I had a mushroom toast and felt hungry right when I walked out. Cocktails are very small as well. Mostly filled with ice and one-two sips of water down cocktails. My friend had a French toast which looks like very tasty and is their best seller. I'll probably come back to give them another try just for the food not drinks.

This is one of my fave brunch spots that I come back again and again to - also one of my fave takeout spots too. Honestly, the number one reason I come here is their sweet potato fries - this is a must order, and the aioli sauce it comes with is so addicting. I almost always get the golden folded eggs, add smoked salmon - perfect mix of fluffy and melt in your mouth eggs with healthy veggies. I also love the avocado toast with their thick sourdough slices, and the banter bowl for when I'm feeling more healthy. The falafel wrap is also delicious and perfect for takeout.

Honestly, this place used to be favorite breakfast place. I can't eat a lot of starchy food, and the golden folded eggs dish is just eggs, salad, avocado, bacon... things that don't hurt me. But they jacked up the price from $18 to $26.25, which is absolutely insane. It's good, but NOT $26.25 good. I won't be coming back unless they lower their prices. A 46% price increase is absurd.

Looking for a Sunday breakfast spot..: this place is a good choice. Went on a Sunday morning. There was a 20 minute wait, but it went by pretty quickly. Good portions aren't huge, but they are hearty. The matcha is legit matcha.. earthy. Avocado toast is a good choice. Good portion, fresh, on a nice crunchy bread slice. Prices are not outrageous considering the neighborhood. I'll def be back!

This place was just what I needed in the morning, like having my green vitality juice to start the day off right. The avocado toast here is awesome, especially with the poached egg! It was actually good for sharing with someone else given how big it was. Very cute spot that I would come back to, with a bit of indoor and outdoor seating. Bonus for how fast everything came out!!

came here for brunch and got a table outside on a Monday. It was such a beautiful day today so it was really nice sitting outside. The two of us got the buttermilk fried chicken sandwich with sweet potato fries and the stuffed Nutella French toast. The fried chicken sandwich was so juicy and crispy- delicious. The sweet potato fries were soft and great as well!! I would really recommend it. The stuffed Nutella French toast is quite unique to Banter I would say and it came with two pieces with some fruit on the side. It was pretty sweet and tasty as well! Overall it was a really good experience and I would recommend coming here!

Came here for brunch the other weekend with my sister and thoroughly enjoyed it! The service was pretty quick, and the food was delicious. My eggs were perfectly cooked and the mushrooms that I ordered on the side were so delicious and flavorful. My matcha latte was earthy and not too sweet. I would definitely come back for brunch again!

The avocado toast was delish, the service was great! The prices are also so great for the location. Not touristy, the food tastes freshly made with good ingredients. This is a hidden gem!

Great experience here from beginning to end. I was seated and greeted right away. I appreciate that even if they can't seat you right away, they at least acknowledge you. Watermelon juice was refreshing and there was a bit of a wait with my falafel bowl, but they made sure to let me know when it would be out. The falafel bowl was amazing and the pureed beets, avo, feta, and kale made for a great combo. I am gf so bonus points that their menu was labeled. I was coveting the food of the people sitting next to me when a giant sandwich came out lol. Can't wait to get my falafel on here again and also try other things on the menu.
