Google
Cute stall with loads of bao options! I thought the pork was fatty, but I really liked the tofu one. It was delish! 2 baos + some popcorn chicken is more than enough for a person. Popcorn chicken is very nice. I like that the baos are very snack size and price. $5.50 each, substantial addition to any day.

Google
Solid portion size for the price. The pork belly bao was good, but I was hoping for more depth of flavor. It had a basic salty taste. The popcorn chicken was fried amazingly but it didn’t have much seasoning on it. Maybe it’s because it comes with sauce on the side. Overall, I like this spot and would definitely go again if I’m in the area!

Google
Really good food at an insanely low price for the big apple. We both got the Szechuan Bao and Pork Belly. I preferred the Szechuan. The combo deal is absolutely worth it and if you’re hungry make sure to get it with the side of popcorn chicken. They’re pretty large.

Google
Really good stuff, came here around lunchtime, prime holiday and the place was packed, their line was long but they were dishing out food like it was their job. Boy they delivered. I ordered two fried tofu baos and also their spring rolls, I got my order after 5-10 mins, really quick. I also devoured my meal. The spring rolls were filled with a bunch of yummy veg and the bao had a really nice texture coming from the chili sauce, the crisp red onion and the crunch of the tofu, would definitely check this place out more often

Google
I stopped by briefly to try the pork belly bao. The pricing was reasonable at 5.50, and the flavor was pretty good. The pork belly was nicely done. Would have liked it slightly larger, but I get it. It's Manhattan and you would have to pay a lot more. I definitely would recommend the bao here.

Google
Located inside the Urban Space food hall. At first I was a bit skeptical of the portion-to-price ratio but then I remembered that tacos usually cost the same but these baos are much more filling. The flavor was much better than I was expecting! My favorite was the Peking duck but you might have to get there early to make sure they don’t run out. I will definitely be back!

Google
We actually tried food from here at the Bryant park winter village and it was so good! The time we went the line wasn’t too long and we really enjoyed our food! We would definitely go to the actual stand alone location in the future.

Google
Very tasty food and extremely friendly Service. Ordering was very easy and my questions where answered clearly and quickly. Would eat again! P.S: The Bao is great

Yelp
Like that they have so many combo options for you to choose from- ranging from sides of popcorn chicken, spring rolls, dumplings and more. I got the pork belly bao and the red curry chicken bao with 3 spring rolls- the red curry chicken bao came with some nice pickled veggies and was topped with a slightly spicy sauce- very tasty! Pork belly bao was just the right amount of fat and meat and was topped off with hoisin sauce, classic bao. Spring rolls were okay, prob just frozen ones but hit the spot. My husband got the pork belly bao and the peking duck bao- they are identical in flavor (both served with the hoisin sauce). He said that the skin was slightly crispy on the duck, giving it that "peking duck" feel. Service was friendly!

Yelp
Have tried them several times and the Red chicken curry bao always hits the spot. Flavorful and satisfying for an average sized bao. The meat isn't dry. Highly recommend this one. The duck bao, you can skip. Maybe it was an off day the time I tried. I didn't even include a pic because it was not even underwhelming, it was plain bad. My bao had a huge chunk of chewy fat, tiny bones and the meat that remained was leathery. I've learned a lesson that as much as I like to try the duck in these applications, these takeout versions are rarely to never good. Stick with the other baos.

Yelp
If I knew this was in a food hall I would not have added this to my list of stops for the day. I wanted Bao buns. Why would I have passed? A lot of places visit places like food halls, I want authentic reviews of people who went specifically for the bao. So... one had flavor and one didn't. The pork belly was delicious but looked over done. Very flavorful but it didn't pull apart easily with bites (mind you it was just sitting in juice waiting for someone to buy it.) The other bao, the beef was extremely messy and lacked flavor. Didn't like the kale adornment as the crunch was off putting in this combo to me. Next time, I won't go out of my way.

G J.

Yelp
I wish I had never decided to try this place out. I tried the popcorn chicken and pork belly boa along with the spring rolls and dumplings and my brother tried the red chicken curry boas and dumplings. The taste was not very good at all but we were hungry and ate the food. A couple hours later we both fell extremely sick to our stomachs with diarrhea weakness and headache. We even thought about going to the emergency room but ended up just staying bed putting up with the suffering. I don't wish that feeling upon my worst enemy. I would say don't risk it.
google avatar

Evin G.

Yelp
Had two pork belly bao at a pop up stall. Absolutely fantastic! The pork was super thick and juicy and saucy. The peanuts really add something and the bun itself was fluffy and chewy and delicious. I would absolutely go to the full restaurant to try more dishes.

Kendria C.

Yelp
I went to the Bryant Park location and it was awesom. We got the pork bun, the popcorn chicken bun with dumplings and it was very good. everything was hot and very flavorful. I can honestly say it was the best thing there. I will definitely go back.

Yelp
This place is inside of Urban space, about a block away from the office, so we stopped in for lunch, and I was super excited because it had been ages (or at least felt like it) since I'd had bao. I love the simplicity and variety offered on the menu. Since Urban Spaces is a food hall, I naturally had to order from multiple restaurants so I settled on 2 buns from the menu to accompany the personal buffet I was creating through out the space. There was a bit of a lunch rush, but service still moved relatively quickly, that being said: Unfortunately Buns were very dry, the pork belly seemed like it was pork shoulder due to how tough it was and the lack of fat, & personally didn't care for the peanut addition. The most unfortunate part of this experience was the shrimp bao, it was not enjoyable, tasted within a day of being freezer burned. Hoping this was just a one off and your experience is far greater than mine should you choose to stop in.

Yelp
Stumbled upon this place inside urbanspace. I got the Szechuan Cow All the flavors worked extremely well together. Portions were good and the cashier was super friendly.

Yuri B.

Yelp
Thank you for the food poisoning yesterday. Ordered bao with pork belly and dumplings. Felt sick an hour later.
google avatar

Stacy K.

Yelp
Ordered the pork bao, cow bao and spring rolls. The pork bao was my favorite of them as the cow bao meat was kind of tough. The baos were filled and flavorful
google avatar

Kammi L.

Yelp
Great place in Urbanspace to grab a quick lunch! I love their rice bowls! Taiwanese Lu Rou is my favorite although this time is was a little too oily. The veggies and rice balance out of the beef so well. I have had the Shrimp Tempura rice bowl as well and I also recommend! The price was around $16.50 which is unfortunately around the price of most lunches in New York City. The line moves pretty quickly and the tables at Urbanspace tend to get filled pretty quickly during lunch hours.
google avatar

Edna L.

Yelp
This outlet in a foodhall was a rip off. The pork belly bao came with 1 piece of pork and 1 cucumber. No scallions and no peanuts...all for $5.50. Ridiculous. Didn't look the pictures at all.
google avatar

Chris K.

Yelp
The food was overall OK with very friendly service but I felt a little gross after eating here. The pork was very fatty and the shrimp tempura didnt taste like shrimp. Overall the sauces are very tasty and the bao bun was super fluffy, which made it a decent bite for lunch. The spring rolls were OK.

Yelp
Yummy! Wish we ordered another combo dish! We ordered via Ubereats and food arrived well packaged. Ordered the fried popcorn chicken with rice and the bao and noodles combo. The flavors in both dishes were excellent. The bao, got the chicken and the pork. The pork bao was way better than the chicken. The pork belly was juicy and melted in my mouth! Exactly how pork belly should be! Only caveat is, when ordering fried popcorn chicken, it is one of those dishes that does not travel well with time. Given the amount of time needed to have the delivery, the fried chicken was not at the right consistency that I would've liked and got cold. Which I don't want to ding the restaurant in, as it's probably not their fault. You can't expect dishes to arrive piping hot, when ordering delivery. Next time: for any fried dishes, do not order delivery! Vest to be enjoyed at the restaurant. Overall, the combos and flavors were excellent! Would absolutely go there!

Yelp
Went to Urbanspace on Lexington and decided to get some baos. Chose the pork belly bao and the Buddha bao (fried tofu). Loved the sweet and sour sauce on the Buddha bao and the toppings added a nice texture. The pork belly bao had a really generous slice of pork belly and flavors were really balanced. Service was really quick. Maybe 5-10 minutes? I would say the bao would be a good option if you want a light meal or a snack.

Clarissa L.

Yelp
I was cravings some taiwanese popcorn chicken and found this place in Urban Space. I had got the 2 bun combo with popcorn chicken. For the buns I had the peking duck and the szechuan cow. The seasoning on the buns was pretty good, but they fell apart pretty quickly and were hard to eat, even though we ate them fresh there. The popcorn chicken was nicely fried but could have use a bit more seasoning.

Yelp
Decided to check out this spot for lunch today. I was very surprised when I opened my container at my desk. The pieces of pork belly in the Bao's were huge! They were very tasty. I personally would've preferred more hoisin sauce because I love it and I like all things saucy. But the bao's were so soft and fluffy. The veggie spring rolls were so tasty and crispy. It tasted hot out of the fryer. Perfect! I will definitely be back to try the curry chicken, tempura shrimp and popcorn chicken.

Yelp
I was wandering Park Ave and looking for a bite. I entered a food hall and was not surprised that bao called my name. I decided to take it to go since the weather wasn't too bad. Food: I ordered the Combo#3 (2 bao and sesame noodles) for ~$13. I got the pork belly and Peking duck bao. The pork belly was really good, stuffed with meat, sauce, and garnish. The Peking duck was nice and tender. I wish the skin was more crunchy. My only two qualms were that my bao broke due to all the moisture from the sauce and the sesame noodles were too firm (giving a undercooked feeling). But this to-go bao and not a banquet hall. Price: (~$16 after tip) I found this price very fair and average for my to-go lunches in Manhattan. I would go again for bao but, not the noodles. They have rice bowls that may be better suited for my taste.

Yelp
This place Is located in one of the many Urbanspace locations in NYC. It's basically a large food hall with plenty of food and drink options. The Bao by Kaya option stood out for us on the day and it didn't disappoint. Good value for money and fairly quick service. The staff were all very nice and helpful. The food hall has seating on a first come basis but it seemed pretty accessible. I will definitely come back for more in the future. Enjoy.

Yelp
Order: - Combo C4 - 2 pork baos + popcorn chicken (5/5) - Lychee green tea (4/5) Pros: - Great tasting bags - Combo options that are really filling - Nice staff - Quick service ~ From ordering to getting your food it's usually a max of 5 minutes Cons: - A little pricey ~ but something I'm not to surprised about when it comes to baos (why are baos so expensive?...) - Can't choose the sweetness level of your drink - Only have bubbles as a topping option Overall: This is one of my go-to spots near work when I'm trying to get a quick but light bite

Yelp
This casual restaurant is nestled in an indoor area called 'Urbanspace' which houses many restaurant popups. It has a cool vibe with its vaulted ceilings, open air concept, communal seats in the center, and somewhat exotic selection of food. Went to 'Bao by Kaya' and ordered the red curry chicken bao, Szechuan cow bao, and the pork belly bao. Wanted to try the Peking duck bao but they sold out by noon. The baos were delicious and flavorful. 2-3 baos is enough for a meal. The cashier and cook were friendly, productive, and courteous. Prices were reasonable and they also accept Apple Pay. I will definitely be back.

Yelp
GREAT COMBO DEAL - PERFECT FOR LUNCH took a lap around urbanspaces and landed on bao by kaya. the line was pretty long but it moves fairly quickly. the combo deals are a great price and is perfect for lunch. i decided to get the Any 2 Baos + Sesame Noodles - it's a good portion of food. the 2 baos i got were the Szechuan Cow Bao and Peking Duck Bao. both were really good. the Szechuan Cow Bao was very tender and juicy. i recommend eating them pretty fast since the bun can get soggy, and who wants a soggy bun that falls apart? the cold sesame noodles were surprisingly good. i feel like sometimes sesame noodles can sometimes be a hit or miss but these were great. they were very balanced and the noodles had a good chew to them. i definitely recommend this place and would totally get the combo again!
google avatar

Victor G.

Yelp
Got the popcorn chicken rice bowl and a bao Bao was pretty solid, but a pretty quick eat -- like 3 bites Popcorn chicken is probably 60% rice, 40% of the good stuff (a mix of chicken, veggies) at best I will note that, for a lunch time meal, the majority of people would be happy with this imo
google avatar

Yelp
SO GOOD! Before discovering Bao by Kaya I was a loyal Sweet Green customer. But honestly, they are meh after a while (not to mention super pricy for what it is). So far I've gotten two types of the rice bowls at Bao by Kaya (one with pork and another with tofu) they are both extremely flavorful and delicious!!! They are the exact things you want for lunch - healthy but also filling! The rice bowl come with kale, veggies, corn, etc which make them super nutritious and yummy. (pro tip: ask "easy on the sauce" if you want it to be on the lighter, even more healthy side!)
google avatar

Jasin S.

Yelp
I absolutely love this place I highly recommend the popcorn chicken on their menu! Super crispy chicken, soft and sticky warm rice and their kale salad with purple cabbage and sweet carrots is awesome. The service is fast and the experience is enjoyable.
google avatar

Jonghan L.

Yelp
Delicious. Got the Lu Rou Fan and Pork Belly Bao for delivery. The pork belly was delicious, succulent, and so fatty! The Buns were really fluffy and love the tastiness of the sauce that it pairs with it. Great ratio of pork belly to bun. The Lu rou fan was definitely untraditional, no egg and came with a side salad, shredded cabbage, corn, and mayo(?) (lol), but the sauce they put on top and the minced pork was so flavorful, saucey (running out of adjectives), and delicious! Very unique. If this is their attempt of modernizing a Taiwanese classic or having some sort of fusion spin, I think it worked out fantastically. Not sure if I should knock off a star for lack of authenticity, but honestly the flavors really surprised me so keeping its 5 stars. Will come back!

Yelp
Best Bao in east mid-town Manhattan! I did Peeking Duck and Shrimp Tempura Bao that came with 3 Spring rolls. All made fresh to order and such a good comfort dish. They are located in the Urban Space. Definitely recommend for lunch
google avatar

Serena Z.

Yelp
I LOVE THIS PLACE. I got the combo 2 tofu baos with veggie spring rolls. My friend got the combo Peking duck and pork belly with dumpling and an additional tofu bao on the side. We ordered takeout and it was still very tasty 30 minutes later. For me, the bun was very soft and along with the fried tofu and assorted veggies and sweet chili sauce, it tasted heavenly. It's an amazing vegetarian option and one of the best vegetarian baos I've ever had in my life so far. My friend also enjoyed the food. Food didn't take long to make and the workers were really nice. Price was about $40, not too bad. Overall, we are very satisfied and happy and will come back again!!

Yelp
Located inside urban space. I ordered Combo 1 which comes with 2 Baos + 3 spring rolls. You have the option to mix and match so I opted for the shrimp tempura and Buddha (vegetarian) Baos. Shrimp Tempura - Amazing, bursting with flavor. I would def recommend. Buddha - Overall I enjoyed, but the taste is slightly bland. Service is fast, I was there peak lunch hour and my order was ready in ~5 mins. Urban Space offers plenty of seating so you have the option for both dine-in and take out. In summary, this is a good option for a casual lunch. The combo portion size are perfect to get you feeling content.
google avatar

Alexa K.

Yelp
Urbanspace is a cool space, however it just feels extremely crowded/suffocating. The noodles were really good, but lacked flavor... more salt or greater spice level would be great!
google avatar

Mia K.

Yelp
Lots of choices here. I basically only like Asian style duck. The duck bao was delicious and had a good amount of meat and hoisin sauce. Liked the fresh sliced scallions. The other bao had chicken but the duck one was better. I thought spring rolls would be have rice paper but they were fried like Filipino lumpias. Good service, good price, and filling Plenty of seating on the second floor. Way more seating than the location near Grand Central.
google avatar

Princess B.

Yelp
My first time here. Food is good. I like it. Drink was okay. I Had pork and chicken bao with popcorn chicken and a lychee tea. Went on a Friday around 6:30pm it was quiet in there
google avatar

Karen C.

Yelp
Tried the rice bowl first time yesterday. I was surprised how good it was. Although I was a bit disappointed that you had pay extra $1 for the egg. It was deceiving when you are order on seamless. The picture shows an egg and also it doesn't give you an option to add an egg on seamless too. Also the shredded pork wasn't shredded pork. I had ground meat which also is deceiving so I was disappointed in that but the food was tasty. Came back today and ordered again this time at the register, added $1 egg and got red curry chicken. That was worth it and the food match the description! Def coming back to try other rice bowls!
google avatar

Charmaine P.

Yelp
Delicious and fast! I love coming to this Urbanspace on my lunch breaks because there are so many delicious options. Bao by Kaya has been one of my favorites for years. Their combo options make choosing a meal easy and you get to try a little bit of everything on their menu. My favorite baos are the duck and pork belly!
google avatar

Jenny N.

Yelp
I work nearby here and wanted to switch up lunch by trying this place out. They didn't have the 2 baos + noodle combo - which is what I was initally there for. I ended up ordering dandan noodles. It was salty but the noodle texture was great. It was chewy and thick. I avoided the meat and just went for the noodles. Not the best place for dan dan noodles but the service was quick.
google avatar

Vivek D.

Yelp
I don't know. I was excited to come here, but I really wasn't wowed by the food. I got myself the combo; if you're not getting the bowl, the combo just makes so much more sense economically. I got the 2 buddha baos + 3 spring rolls combo. For $10.95, it's standard Urbanspace pricing. Fine with me. The spring rolls were fine, but the baos kinda disappointed me. I really was disappointed with the tofu. Love the idea of crispy tofu, but I really wish the tofu had some zing or marinade to it because it just tasted bland. Like it was warm when you bit into it and then the tofu tasted like typical salad tofu. So much potential, but ended up disappointed. Oh well. Maybe next time, we'll see....
google avatar

Jacky C.

Yelp
A pretty decent pop up stand if you're looking for a quick snack at a premium price. I got 2 baos, both peking duck baos which happened to be a seasonal item, and 3 dumplings combo. For $13, it's not a bad deal compared to everything else in Urbanspace and being in NYC. Looking forward to trying the other baos and possibly even the popcorn chicken, noodles, and bubble tea that they offer.
google avatar

Paul L.

Yelp
Wasted money on lunch here. I was here pretty early for them and was their first customer of the day in the Lexington Ave Urbanspace. They were not happy with me asking if they were open yet or serving me. I got a pork belly bao and a chicken one of some sort, I also got dumplings as some sort of combo. The dumplings were ok, deep fried so hard for them to mess up but nothing special. The pork bao was tough and mediocre. The chicken one is why this is a one star review. It was so bad i wrapped my lips on it for a bite and didnt go through with it beyond a nibble. It was cold, smelled funny and was seasoned oddly. It freaked me out the rest of the afternoon. Wont be back. The overall vibe of all the shops at Urbanspace seemed anti service so Im not going back here any time soon.
google avatar

Natasha W.

Yelp
Amazing food as always! Plus the wait time was no more than 5 minutes. The tofu bao is my absolute favorite!
google avatar

Oliver N.

Yelp
The food is amazing and the staff treats you with the up most respect I would highly recommend coming here

Yelp
Bao by Kaya is a cute little Asian stall in the Urbanspace food hall. I ordered 2 baos and 3 spring rolls combo, with a classic milk tea with boba! They have a few different options for baos and I chose their pork belly and cow bao (that rhymes). They also had a pekking duck option that I was really wanting to try, but unfortunately they had run out for the day when I ordered during dinner time. The chef behind the counter was so nice and explained everything to me. These baos were hot & fresh. When eating the baos, they were so soft and warm in my mouth, almost melting. It was a great neutralizer to the flavorful meat inside. The spring rolls I ordered were also delicious and a great side to have just for a little added fun. Aside from the food, I also enjoyed the nice food hall vibes at Urbanspace. Quaint space with limited seating space (due to COVID restrictions), but still nice.
google avatar

Thomas W.

Yelp
This is for the Bryant Park Winter Shops Temporary Location! Wanted the duck Bao but the pork Bao did the trick before I give up after the Chinese Lunar New Year! The steamed Bao bun was excellent & earned this pop up 4 star rating along with the properly cooked meat & condiments!
google avatar

Sharon Y.

Yelp
I attempted to place an online order thinking it would be delivery. Unfortunately it was not. I disputed the charge and was told I would have to contact my bank. You took my money and did not provide service or goods. This is not the way to run a business. Ritual the company you use for delivery took $47.96 out my account. And now are claiming they provided a service which they clearly did not. Beware!!!!! Yelp does not allow no stars, but that is what I would rate your business.
google avatar

Caroline N.

Yelp
I got a chance to try the baos a few days later. Ordered the C2: 2 baos (pork belly and Peking duck which cost $0.50 extra) and popcorn chicken. The pork belly was yummy and a lot cleaner to eat. The Peking duck was also delicious. I got some hoisan sauce over my fingers and a slice of duck fell out of the bun. It could be me so more of awareness. Popcorn chicken has a chunks of chicken fried in battered. It was a bit salty but so good. Didn't need the aioli sauce but it doesn't hurt one bit. Definitely ordering again.
google avatar

Alison K.

Yelp
Bao by Kaya is one of my favorite Broadway Bites popups. The duck bao is my favorite, 2nd fave pork belly. The popcorn chicken with spicy mayo (basically karaage) is the perfect accompaniment. My husband just wants the duck bao so I buy 6 individual baos for him. What really makes the duck bao is the hoisin sauce. Broadway Bites tends to run out of duck by the end of the day, so I usually pick it up at lunchtime to take home for dinner. The bao hold up really well and don't get soggy. Never been to the actual location, but Bao regularly appears at Broadway Bites, conveniently located near work.

Yelp
Lu rou, is nowhere close to Taiwanese rice bowl. A simple google search, this place sells it so far off, at least put yellow radish pickles. They added a bunch of weird sauces and mayo, and corn and kale is very odd in traditional lu rou bowl. Also very pricey for what it is and extra for tea eggs? Real lu rou bowl is meant for the poor to eat. The pork belly looks nothing like how it is in Taiwan. Sesame noodles is ok. Bao looks good.
google avatar

Kenneth T.

Yelp
Food is fast, cheap, and good but I wouldn't say it's great. I wouldn't put bao by kaya in my top 10 bao
google avatar

Brenda L.

Yelp
I have only been to their stand at Bryant Park and thought it was great to get fresh bao during the cold December weather. Eating street food in the actual outdoors makes the experience that much more enjoyable! I tried the peking duck bao (roasted duck, scallion, cucumber, crushed peanuts and hoisin sauce) and the Szechuan cow bow (braised beef shank, carrot, red onion, cilantro, crispy shallots and homemade Szechuan sauce. I loved the fresh onion and shallots but thought the meat was chewy. They have rice plates, noodles, popcorn chicken, spring rolls and tea as well. I'd love to try the rice plates next time. I liked that the bao was very soft and wasn't too thick. It also isn't chewy the way frozen bao taste. It's a bao-t time you try this place out.
