Baos and Bowls

First time visiting Baos and Bowls and I really loved their self-service style, aka no tipping, which I greatly appreciate! :) I ordered the combo with the crispy schnitzel, pork baos, and cucumber salad. I also got the popcorn chicken as well. The deep fried chicken cutlet was definitely a highlight. It was crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. More importantly, I have to admit that their pork baos might be some of the best in the city! The baos were pan fried to perfection and filled with delicious soup inside. Be careful when you bite into them cuz the juice will pop! If you can, let them cool a bit and then enjoy the whole bao in one bite.

Baos & Bowls in East Village is a great spot for comforting Chinese rice and noodle dishes. The pork trotter rice is tender and flavorful, and the combo with pan-fried bao is worth it. The “Uncle Beef Noodle” with crispy chicken upgrade is also excellent. Portions are generous, prices are fair, and everything tastes freshly made. Perfect for a quick, satisfying meal in the neighborhood.

I keep this place in my heart. The most tasteful baos I’ve ever tried, and the beef ramen too! It was my favorite spot on my NY trip, definitely coming back the next time i’m there. It’s a pity they don’t have bathroom

A small spot with amazing food. Their beef soup is a must try, flavorful and the beef is so tender. Stir fried noodles is chewy and delicious. One of the best pan fried dumplings/ bun I ever tasted. Staff and service is great. Prices is reasonable.

Amazing beef noodle soup and probably the best pan fried dumplings I’ve tried in the city! Also loved their chewy stir fried noodles. Everything is hot and fresh, and the prices are so reasonable. Their space isn’t too big so I fear them getting more popular but for now I’ll enjoy it as much as I can 😂

These $10 pan fried pork baos from the East Village might just top my list of my best sheng jian bao research… I shared my favorite sheng jian bao in NYC earlier which was in Brooklyn. But this time I checked out a new spot in Manhattan that could seriously rival my number one, with the added bonus of a more convenient location. ＊Pan Fried Pork Bao 豬肉生煎包 $10 *** The baos literally exploded with meat juice when I took my first bite (Yes, I didn’t learn from past mistakes and the delicious disaster happened again). Their sheng jian bao ticked every box for me: crunchy golden bottom, thin and soft dumpling wrapper, and juicy meat filling. Unfortunately they didn’t have the crab meat one when I visited. ＊The OG Beef Stew Noodle 爺叔牛肉麵 $19 ** I got their another signature dish — the braised beef noodle soup exceeded my expectation. The thick cut beef shank was so tender that it fell apart easily with chopsticks. I did feel a bit thirsty after drinking the soup though. ＊Shredded Beef w. Pepper Chewy Fried Noodles 小椒牛肉絲粗炒 $17 I love 上海粗炒 and this one came with green bell pepper and shredded beef. Packed with flavors and not overly greasy. ＊Jumbo Wonton in Chili Oil 紅油抄手 $7 While their baos were 11/10, the chili oil wonton was alright. It was doughy with few filling, and the chili oil sauce wasn’t aromatic enough. Size-wise it wasn’t really “jumbo”. ＊Iced Soy Milk 冰豆漿 $4.5 * SO GOOOOD I gulped the whole cup.

Their Taiwanese beef noodle soup is rich, comforting, and very clean flavor, the broth has that perfect depth, not too heavy not too rich. The fried chicken cutlet is crispy, juicy, and perfectly seasoned. Portion of the food is big,cozy vibes, I like their decor, friendly staff, and consistently great food. A must-visit in east village

This spot has a great priced BB Combo starting at $19.99 which has good portion of food! You can pick an app, entree, and your choice of pan fried bao to create a delicious combo, and also try some of their other foods on the side. This is what I ordered: - Shrimp Crunch Roll - Jumbo wonton in chili oil * BB Combo - O.G. Beef Stew Noodle - Classic PanFried Pork Baos - Bopcorn Chicken * BB Combo - King's Chicken Steak Rice - Classic PanFried Pork Baos - Cucumber salad I enjoyed the crunchy shrimp rolls and packed wontons with a nice peanut spicy sauce. The cucumber salad and popcorn chicken both had so much flavor and made perfect sides in the combos. I was so pleasantly surprised by the tender chewy beef and nice long noodles blending so well together. If you get the beef noodle soup for the BB Combo, it's $3 more but I think it's worth it. The fried chicken steak on rice was also crispy and hearty. The rice was soft and fresh and it tasted like they poured a brine of some sort over the rice. They have a tablet for you to order inside or you can order with the cashier. The food came out after 10 minutes which was pretty quick. There's a few tables inside to eat and two tables right outside.

Super exciting to see this pop up in this part of town - the bao buns are $1 each (minimum order 4) until September 10! The bao buns were my favorite thing here despite being pretty doughy, especially the bottom. It was such a good size though, and very juicy with a lot of protein inside. Super hot so treat it like soup dumpling! The Chewy AF fried noodle ($15) which is basically a Shanghai fried flat noodle - it was just okay to me, a bit saucy but not sauce enough? I wish it had just been stir fried. The spicy cucumbers ($8) fell very short - it looked like it had been prepared days ago, and wasn't very spicy. Some seating inside but did not seem to have a bathroom.

SUCH GOOD FOOD. Local takeout spot near Stuytown with a lovely Asian lady packing orders. So friendly and chats while getting your order ready. Got the $19.99 combo which was so much food - OG beef noodle soup, 2 pork panfried dumplings filled with soup and side of popcorn chicken. Beef noodle soup had thick slices of tender beef. Also got the chewy AF beef pepper noodles which had lots of beef, good noodle flavor and yummy stir fried peppers. Will be back to try the King's chicken steak, wontons and crab pork panfried dumplings!!

The food is really tasty! And one can see the ingredients quality. Great service! The soup dumplings, noodles a soup were 10/10.

We ordered for carry out. We ordered the beef noodle soup combo that came with the dumplings and another side. Every item was so delicious. We also added a pork schnitzel. The schnitzel was still crispy when we got home. We ordered for pick up at a certain time and the order was ready when we got there. Can't wait to eat the food again and try other items.

Amazing food! It is a good comforting and quick bite to get. The staff are so kind and attentive. I highly recommend stopping by for a quick bite! P.S. Try their sweet potato dessert if you love desserts that are sweet but not overly sweet!

Fire Shanghainese baos（生煎包). Think they rival Liu Liu Sheng Jian in Flushings. I've only had this item for the 5. Did not try the others that may or may not elevate or reduce the ratings
