"Chinatown isn’t lacking in grab-and-go options, be it a pick-me-up char siu pork bun or a packed jianbing, and it has another excellent one in Jíxíang Baozi, a tiny Fujianese takeaway spot. The plump handheld fritters lay golden and tanned in the window of this cupboard-sized space and there’s a choice of chicken, pork, and oyster. Take it to go straight from the tray, or ask for another dunk in the fryer if you like your snacks steaming hot and crispy. Of the three, the oyster cake reigns supreme. Salty and packed with a shredded handful of bean sprouts, cabbage, seaweed, and onion—this is a sensational snack for £4.50. The pork, at a quid less, isn’t far behind." - Team Infatuation

"Hit up Baozi Inn in Chinatown for some excellent Sichuan-style food. Order the dumplings in chilli oil, the dan dan noodles, and the spicy beef noodle soup. It makes for a perfect casual dinner with a few friends, especially if you’re down with amping up the spice factor, and you should know that they have further branches just across the way in Soho, and also at London Bridge." - Heidi Lauth Beasley, Jake Oliver, Rianne Shlebak, Eileen Twum

It was very busy on a Friday night, but we managed to get a table for 4 without booking. The mocktail drinks (green tea and fruit) were delicious! The service was really rapid. The dumplings and bao buns were really tasty. I had the noodles with pork belly and they were flavourful. My husband had the spicy mince noodles with pig intestines and he loved it. Another one of group had the aubergines with rice which had a wonderful sauce. We also had the crispy chicken, which was a bit gelatinous and the seaweed salad which was a bit oily and too garlicky for one of our group. Overall, I liked it and would recommend a visit.

Good food, good price but bad service. Food was taste overall good. We had the spicy stewed beef shin noodles was really nice but it wasn't as spicy as it looked. The beef was very tender and juicy. The Stewed pork ribs noodles were good as well. Love the mushroom in it because they have soaked up all the savoury soup. The sweet and sour pork ribs was a bit disappointed because they were a bit dry so it was hard to chew. A bit like sugar glaze pork jerky. The food came out very fast though. The place was quite small and busy so I was basically sitting on the hallway and staff kept walking into my chair. I did have a feeling someone will accidentally pour something on me cause I was in the way. The staff weren't really friendly. Took ages for someone to come take our order and asking for the bill. Was hard to get anyone's attention.

Instagram: @hungrybelly.blog The Maocai (Hot Pot) is an absolute winner. Tasty, hot and huge. The bowl is massive and filled with wonderful flavours. The dumplings and Bao were delicious. The Aloe Vera drinks are so refreshing and tasty, especially the watermelon. Faye was an absolute star and very attentive. We highly recommend this restaurant in China Town

The skewers were really quite nice. Flavour was perfect and just enough spice and “numbness” to the spice! I loved how every skewer tasted perfectly and it’s just one of those things that are hard to find these days. It would have easily been a 5 star joint for the skewers alone BUT for like £7 for 5 skewers, that’s quite some healthy margin considering that makes it £1.5 for 2 fish balls or £2 for beef tribe which is almost free from western butchers!

Google
Only 3 stars because we found some buns and dumplings quite dry, whilst other food was excellent. Overall, I think this is a place where you have to know what to order to get good food, quality wasn't consistent in my opinion - but I'd definitely go back to try other dumplings!

Wow, I have mixed impressions. The short version, we recommend the soups. The long version: We liked the soup and sticky rice. The classic spicy chicken was OK. we didn't like the bans and fried dish. However, the location is great and the place is very authentic. The staff was warm and the service was very good.

I wouldn’t say it’s a cozy place, but definitely somewhere I’d go when I need a spicy & soupy meal. In general, it’s comfort food with ok price, but also noted that there are not many vegetarian options.

The spicy beef stew noodles was very nice. The food came very quickly and the staff were very helpful. The overall mood is quite Asian. Nothing really special. It's quite cramped.
