Philly’s Best Fall Cocktails

"No fall cocktail experience is complete without pumpkin spice. The seasonal espresso martini made with Union Forge Vodka is loaded with all of the elements of autumn (coffee, nutmeg, and pumpkin) that’s ideal for a chill happy hour as the leaves change color." - Ernest Owens

The 16 Best Restaurants In Northern Liberties

"We like to think of Bar 1010 in Northern Liberties as an adult pizza party. Loud hip hop is playing, boozy drinks are flowing, and the pizza—which is fantastic—is being enjoyed by all. The pizza is a thin, yet bubbly-crusted, Neapolitan-by-way-of-New-York hybrid. We prefer anything with a red sauce but there are also more fun, creative pies—like the jalapeño pesto—than you’ll find at most pizza shops. " - candis mclean, alison kessler

The Essential Restaurants of Northern Liberties

"The ultimate pizza bar, Bar1010 has garnered a stellar reputation of serving up the hottest and crispiest pies in Northern Liberties. But beyond their generous pours and slices, they have other notable dishes — such as their massive blackened wood-fired chicken caesar sub — that’s worth the trip." - Ernest Owens

Bar 1010 - Review - Northern Liberties - Philadelphia - The Infatuation

"Editor's Note: Co-owner and pizzaiola Mike Fitzick left Bar 1010 after this review was written. We will be checking back in for an update. We like to think of Bar 1010 in Northern Liberties as an adult pizza party. Loud hip hop is playing, boozy drinks are flowing, and the pizza—which is fantastic—is being eaten by all. Like all good pizza parties, other assorted snacks and shareables are available. But at this one, the wood-fired pies are really the only thing you need to have on your table. photo credit: Gab Bonghi The corner spot, formerly home to Spuntino, is still anchored by the tiled pizza oven, but has an upgraded interior. Families and groups of friends pile into the brown leather banquettes, and neighborhood couples share pizzas at the few marble two-tops. It’s all open to the connecting bar and pizza station, so aside from admiring the plants and the Drake soundtrack, you can see the masters at work. The pizza is a thin, yet bubbly-crusted, Neapolitan-by-way-of-New-York hybrid. We prefer anything with a red sauce—the margherita and spicy ‘roni are addictive—but there are also more fun, creative pies than you’ll find at most pizza shops. The jalapeño pesto beautifully combines the minced spicy pepper with a dollop of pecorino sour cream, while the buffalo chicken (which usually makes for a sloppy slice) is crisp, spicy deliciousness. photo credit: Gab Bonghi That said, if Bar1010’s pizza is Meryl Streep, the rest of the menu is still at theater camp. The fresh, garlicky bruschetta is served on sad grocery store bread, and the salads are overdressed and underwhelming. The cocktails are solid and you definitely get your money’s worth, but nuanced libations they are not. photo credit: Gab Bonghi Like most parties, the one at Bar 1010 can get messy, and you may have your first few bites without plates or silverware. But when the pizza is this good, it's (usually) a bash to remember. Food Rundown photo credit: Gab Bonghi Bacon Salad If you need a salad before your pizza, this is the one to get. The combination of thick-cut bacon, pears, and creamy goat cheese is fantastic, and the dressing is tangy and refreshing. photo credit: Gab Bonghi Margherita The pies here have a thin, crispy crust, but not so thin that you can’t fold it (and they still have those puffy charred bubbles). This one is simple and perfect: sweet, bright red sauce, gooey mozzarella and parm, and peppery bites of basil. There are a lot more interesting varieties to choose from here, but overlooking this would be a mistake. photo credit: Gab Bonghi Spicy Roni This pizza combines shaved jalapeño, crisp-chewy pepperoni cups, and hot honey, all with the signature tangy tomato sauce and lots of creamy mozz. It’s spicy, but not necessarily going to give you the meat sweats. photo credit: Gab Bonghi Jalapeño Pesto Not our favorite pizza here, but definitely the most interesting. It combines fresh shaved jalapeño and a glob of pecorino cream added post-oven. The crust holds everything together perfectly—no sog in sight. photo credit: Gab Bonghi Buffalo Chicken We used to be buffalo-chicken pizza skeptics. It’s usually an overloaded, oversauced mess. But Bar1010 has made us believers. This combines housemade buffalo sauce, pungent blue cheese, tender pieces of chicken, scallions, and it keeps its structure through the life of the pie (which, yeah, you’re going to finish). photo credit: Gab Bonghi Salted Caramel Espresso Gelato All of their ice creams and gelatos are housemade, and they're all creamy and flavorful. Our favorite is the cookies and cream, but this is a close second. It could give some of our best scoop shops a run for their money." - Alison B. Kessler

I have eaten here in person and the food is very good. I would recommend. I ordered take out for the first time tonight. I got their Cesar salad. The salad was 13 dollars. The salad I got looks a more like a side salad than something for a meal.

EDIT: They offered a free round of drinks to make up for the inconvenience which we beyond grateful for ! Will always be a returning customer !! I always look forward to any chance I get to visit Bar1010. Whether it's a spontaneous stop while exploring the city, a casual dinner with friends, a date night, or a special occasion like a birthday, the food and drinks never disappoint. I'm especially fond of their espresso martini, though I do miss the option to add mocha shavings on top! Last night, we celebrated my fiancé’s birthday with a group of six and were eager to try their famous cheese martini. Unfortunately, about 30 minutes into our dinner, we were told they had run out of espresso, with no clear indication of when it would be restocked. Despite checking multiple times over the few hours we were there, we received the same uncertain response each time. This isn't the first time we've encountered this issue, and it's disheartening, especially when the espresso martini is the main reason we come. It’s disappointing to bring new guests and not be able to share the full experience we’ve come to love.

A hidden gem for casual eat or a date night. Some of the best pizza IN THE CITY and ANYWHERE. Plus awesome cocktails. Their menu crushes all the classics but also really nails their innovative flavors too. Love that they're around and hope they're here for a long time.

The pizza was great! The cocktails were also great! Reasonable prices, good portions, great food. Ambiance was a bit off- perhaps consider dimming the lights some. Seems like a regular old pizza place with the current vibes! Add some pizzazzz!! FOOD ROCKS THOUGH! Just… dim the lights ◡̈

What a great place to enjoy dinner any day of the week. The pizza comes out hot and fresh and is devoured within minutes. We tried many different apps/pizza and all of them were fantastic. Recommend pairing a pizza with Human Robot beer to truly get the best combination. Menu caters to all types of dietary restrictions but more importantly, caters to the Philly natives by sourcing local ingredients, flavors and breweries right from heart of Philadelphia. The place really lives up to it’s name: 10/10

The cocktails are a work of art served in cut glassware. Pizza is the perfect size. Korean bbq and bacon fig were fantastic combinations. Service was wonderful. A little pricey but well worth it. Not a bad Thursday night.

Exceptional Service, Exceptional Food! Firstly, big shout out to Neal who was my server/bartender for the best recommendations. I’m not usually a big pizza fan BUT let me tell you, that Cacio E Pepe had me asking for seconds. I started off with the half and half Cheesy Bread, followed by the Caccio E Pepe then took home the Vodka Pesto (don’t judge me, it was honestly that good) . For drinks I enjoyed the Espresso Martini (with a twist cause they grate parmigiana reggiano on top, I was like whaaaatttt, then I was like mmmmmm 😏) Honestly, 10/10. The place is also mad cute and very Instagrammable ;)

Nothing amazing, just overall good restaurant. We came here because we’ve heard great things but we weren’t wowed. Our server Stevie was really nice & always checked on us. The description of the items seemed a bit off. As our appetizer we ordered the spicy sausages, which weren’t really spicy at all & the spicy roni as our entree. The pizza description listed pepperoni cups, and hot honey, but the pizza sauce seemed watery, wasn’t spicy at all, we didn’t get the hot honey flavors and it had regular pepperoni, maybe they ran out of certain ingredients. But it was a let down also, I ordered the guava Cosmo, I love smirking guava, but when the drink came out it didn’t taste like anything, not even a regular Cosmo, just missed the mark overall.
