The Best Restaurants for Oysters in Seattle | Eater Seattle

"L’Oursin’s sister bar next-door has an identity all its own: a colorful and breezily social spot that serves Basque-inspired drinks (carajillo, Basque cider, armagnac-boosted kalimotxo, et al) along with playful and elegant bites from a tiny yet adroit kitchen. Just like L’Oursin, though, Bar Bayonne offers a featured variety of ultra-fresh and flawlessly shucked PNW oysters. That means that here you can get similar impeccable oyster service, but in a setting that’s casual enough to walk in for a dozen and a drink, while still stylish enough to be a date-night destination." - Mark DeJoy

Where To Go On A Coffee Date In Seattle - Seattle - The Infatuation

"This CD spot has a fun balance between diner and bistro, a steady flow of folks washing down olives with Champagne, and the simplest coffee menu on the planet. Choose between hot drip, espresso, or a latte—and then choose between listening to your date drone on about cryptocurrency or having a friend call with an “emergency.” Weird timing for their car to have broken down at Mt. Rainier on a Tuesday evening." - aimee rizzo

Bar Bayonne - Review - Central District - Seattle - The Infatuation

"The prospect of an all-day French cafe in the CD next door to L’Oursin (and from the same team) is nothing short of exciting. We love snacking on seafood with pét-nat at L’Oursin, so doing the same thing at lunchtime with baguette sandwiches? Sign us right up. And while Bar Bayonne is a great hang, the limited food served here falls flat. Everything’s stored in a refrigerator before it hits your table, but we wish it wasn’t. Ham-stuffed baguettes chew like bread jerky, and the otherwise tasty quiche is a frigid egg pie that we wish was served at room temperature instead. Use Bar Bayonne strictly for a coffee-and-croissant break, or swing by at sundown for a glass of sherry." - Aimee Rizzo

Google
Intimate, interesting, and delectable. Bar Bayonne was a great experience on our Friday evening. We didn't try any food, but the wine we received was delicious and service was excellent. The atmosphere inside was cozy while also upbeat. Looking forward to coming back and trying the food!

Google
I cannot recommend a place more highly. If you’re looking for a causal place with amazing snacks and exceptional wine, this is exactly the spot for you! The wine selection is from southern France and northern Spain (Catalan & Basque) will leave you happy and inspired. They have seafood and filling sandwiches. The cheese was particularly great! Don’t miss out on the market portion, with vinyls, wine, and more!

Google
Bar Bayonne, or L'Oursin's baby brother, is the best wine bar in Seattle. If you like unique, small production, delicious French and local wine, come here. They have small bites like super fresh shrimp cocktail and french cheese, or takeaway "Paris Train station style baguette sandwiches". There's a french marché too, if you want to grab some delicious wine, olives, paté, local eggs, french cheese, and more!! Truly the best french food in Seattle!!

One of my favorite spots in the neighborhood! The basque cheesecake is heavenly. A really lovely spot to have a relaxing wine or cocktail and read a book or catch up with friends. Great selection of wines to pickup a bottle to take home as well! ✨ service is always warm and friendly 🥰

Yelp
I decided to check out Bar Bayonne after a stop at UW Seattle, meandered along Montlake, Capitol Hill, and Central District neighborhoods (11/28/23). Bar Bayonne is adjacent to L'Oursin in Seattle's Central District by Seattle University. I was able to find nearby zoned two hour street parking by Peloton and Mitten Sweets & Coffee. Perfect timing as it just opened at 11am. Note: This is only a 21+ establishment. I'm sure sidewalk seating is pleasant when there's warmer temps and the planter boxes are in bloom. Inside there's ample counter seating or two tops for solo diners like me. Lots of interior touches, natural light, decent playlist while onsite. The menu has Francophile leaning eats & bevs. However, there are fresh baked goods from Temple Pastries, enticing sandwiches, and a seasonal quiche during my first visit. There are also curated wines, cheeses, tinned items, snacks, to name a few featured merch seen. Immediately after I showed up and throughout my one hour onsite, there were others picking up sandwiches to go. After giving a looksee at the refrigerated case, Bar Bayonne's featured selections sure looked delicious! There were also nearby, a pair of ladies who lunch...loved seeing their selection of wine, charcuterie, bread, and a shared Croque Madame over lively, engaging conversation. I, too, had a Croque Madame with a Cafe Noisette. The latter was described to me as a cross between a cortado and cappuccino served with a sugar cube. Two other solo diners opted for the counter, whereas I picked a two top by the floor to ceiling windows. By the time I was wrapping up my visit, a trio sat down and also ordered Croque Madames. I haven't had one since Cafe Presse closed, so I savored this thoroughly. Popular menu items, Croque Madame with egg or Croque Monsieur without. Pleasant, unobtrusive service. I was checked on periodically during my spontaneous detour, before settling my bill to head home, and resume my workday. I look forward to future visits. Definitely recommended!

Yelp
Our experience at this restaurant was extremely disappointing. We waited 5-10 minutes to be seated, despite being the only people waiting. The waiter rudely told us, "This is the only table that's set; if you want another table, you'll have to wait," even though there were plenty of clean tables available. When we asked for the food menu, he curtly replied, "We typically don't give the food menu before you order drinks," making us feel pressured to order drinks immediately. Notably, he was very nice to other customers but used a rude tone with us from the moment we entered. We left feeling uncomfortable and couldn't help but wonder if his attitude was due to the automatic 20% gratuity or if it was a discriminatory tone, as we were the only Asians in the restaurant. It was an unpleasant experience, and we won't be returning.

Yelp
Second time visiting this establishment and it does not disappoint!!! It hits all the expectations of food, wine and service. Price point is more than reasonable for quality of food and wine. Almost don't want to recommend such a capitol hill gem for selfish reasons or course !!!

Yelp
Wow! Kendra & Alex provided the best service. We asked for a recommendation on wine, and she delivered. We can't wait to come back for wine, and oysters.

Yelp
Only three, now four reviews? There were four of us for lunch today, and we were impressed by both the food and the service. Our waiter was an absolute gem--attentive, funny, and informative. The menu is somewhat limited, but everything we ordered--except the coffee--was delicious. We shared an order of the lovely Iberico ham, a rich and satisfying croque monsieur, savory œufs mayonnaise with white anchovies, a veloute of squash and rutabagas, and a serving of the crusty baguette. But when it came time for coffee at the end of the meal, what was listed as a "noisette" turned out to be closer to a cappuccino or cafe au lait with way too much milk to drink after the wonderful food. In any case, this is a great spot for lunch, and we all agreed we would return without hesitation.

Yelp
Today is Sue and my 47th Anniversary. We decided to start our special day with lunch at the Bar Bayonne near Seattle University. One of my best friends lives in Bayonne, France. François is always raving about his local cuisine. Consequently, we had to eat there. And we were not disappointed. The food was exquisite. The music perfectly complemented the cuisine. Plus, Joe, our very attentive and knowledgeable waiter, greatly enhanced the experience. The Deer Creek Oysters were very delicious in their special sauce. Because the portions were large, Sue and I split the Salade Verde with Sidra Vinaigrette dressing, which was scrumptious; the Croque Monsieur Sandwich with Hot Brioche, ham and Gruyere, which was sublime; and the Tarta de Queso Basque Cheesecake with their Special House Jam melted in our mouths. We highly recommend this restaurant bar.

Yelp
I stopped by this place thinking it was a different sandwich . I think it used to be but I decided to see what was on offer. The place is a combination French Basque cafe and wine and spirits on sale from the region. They had some pre-made sandwiches in a case. I got the curried chicken to eat right away and a veggie sandwich to go. Both were in the same crusty bread. Both were good especially the latter. I had a very good Spanish lager. The curry flavor could have been bit more intense. I tried the Basque style cheesecake. It was alright, more subtle flavor than say a NY style. Service was very nice and friendly and the shop itself is nice, casual. Parking in the area can be tough as it is close to a hospital but I will go back.

Yelp
Been here twice recently and loved it. Tasty and authentically French - Basque. They do an outstanding job with "everyday basics." A bonus - fantastic music! Also a nice grocery area w regional specialties.
