Google
🌟 Overall: 7.5/10 Tried: Tortilla – 7.5/10: Fresh, with cooked anchovy inside. Nice balance of flavour. Mushroom & prawn pastry – 6.5/10: Just okay for me, but my husband really liked it. Very friendly staff and welcoming atmosphere!

Google
The pinchos are awesome! Lots of variety, and they were ready instantly!! As a Canadian I appreciated trying things I don't normally get to try like a pincho with anchovies and a pincho with duck. Nice outdoor seating area too. A good choice in San Sebastian.

Google
It’s a really nicely decorated tapas bar with super nice cold beer, twisted tapas that veer very very tasty and nice staff. Worth visiting. The one in the PINXOS list was actually the less tasty but still good one

Google
Came here based on the Michelin recommended guide. I was quite disappointed in the quality and taste of the pinxtos. Go to the old town go get some more authentic and delicious pinxtos. This was not worth my visit and it was also quite expensive for the portion.

Google
Such a fun vibe and great food too! Best tortilla I've ever had anywhere in Spain! It has anchovies and is oozing with amazing olive oil!

I just love places that get a Michelin star and start acting like stars themselves. The pintxos was amazing, but the bar staff were surprisingly unpleasant.

Google
Lovely staffs and chilled vibe here. Pintxos are great too. Looks like local spots than touristic place but there have lots of Micheline and Repsol guide signs. Highly recommend to get Itxaso. Wine selections are great as well.

I ate at 15 restaurants in San Sebastian in 3 days. I have visited this restaurant twice. Itxaso I ordered twice. Creamy prawn on the best pie. The staff recommended it. Anchovy Omellete delicious. A little spice is great. The others are delicious too.

Yelp
This bar/restaurant in the Gros district of Donosti (the other side of the river) has received Michelin recognition in years past. I went in to get a few pintxos, so I got a table near the bar and ordered a crujiente de langostino (deep fried prawn) and a txopito (grilled squid with caramelized onions). I LOVED my choices. I thought these were probably the best pintxos I had in San Sebastian. The price was not bad about 3.5-4 euros per plate. I had a nice cold beer with my seafood bites. The place was not too busy, and the servers were very efficient on getting everybody what they needed. Loved the place...check it out next time you are in the area....

Yelp
Located in the Gros district,  Bergara is a 2018 Michelin rated restaurant serving up good food and drinks. We stop in at least a few times each trip and always satisfied with the service and food.   There is indoor and outdoor seating. 10% extra for terrace service (outdoor). Indoor there are seats at the bar, a couple tables in the corner for two, and bigger tables that can be shared with other parties.  We go there for the foie gras and the risotto but have tried about everything on the pintxos hot menu. There are ready made pintxos at the bar as well, just point. Worthy of a stop on your pintxos crawl. Affordable food and friendly service.

Yelp
Soooo yummy but I think it was a little bit of a tourist trap, the mushroom risotto was unreal, but I just say tourist trap because expensive

Yelp
This place apparently received a Michelin Bib Gourmand, but it was only an okay experience for all of us. The jamon iberico was saltier and drier than I prefer, the txalupa (mushrooms with prawns au gratin) was fine, the mini hamburger (with wasabi) was unimaginative and flat, and no one (but me) ate the squid with caramelized onions (also fine). We all enjoyed the crunchy prawn (wonton deep-fried) with soy and sesame sauce. To be fair, we could have eaten more, and in theory this could be 3.5 stars, but then I would have to round up to 4.

Suany W.

Yelp
Came for the txalupa but it was just okay. At our server's recommendation, we also tried the itxaso, which was so delicious that it nearly blew my g-string off! Hands down, one of the best things I've ever eaten and will dream about for the rest of my life. Imagine a bite size tart shell filled with monkfish and shrimp purée topped with a sprinkle of crispy leeks. Are you dripping with desire yet?

Yelp
Not crowded, Five big tables. Outdoor seating. Several framed awards on the wall. I tried the mini burger, txopito, and scallop. All hot. Noticeably smaller than similar items elsewhere. Burger looked better it tasted, seafood was pretty good, though short of the more ambitious spots on the other side of the river. Very pricey as pintxos go. 12.5 for three small items and a soda. I walked by the high end, elegant restaurant at Kursaal and saw their prices were the same, so the rating dropped a star. See menu

Yelp
Right in the middle of the Gros neighborhood, this place has an extensive menu and a limited number of pintxos on display. If you know what you like, you will find it well-prepared here. This one is hyped by lots of writers in Europe. Their prices reflect it. You won't find many locals here, but you will find tourists. Tried a few of the award winning examples and found them interesting but not life altering. I still prefer the bars in Casco Viejo over the ones in Gros. Gros is more for the local hipsters because many of the places offer 1 euro house pintxos and 1 euro drinks on Thursday night between 7 and 11 to stimulate business. It is called Pintxo-Pote night. The cheap places are mobbed by the locals.

Yelp
The pinxtos are amazing, the txakoli is so refreshing. Love, love, love!!! I'll be back...

Yelp
Pintxos glore!! Bergara' clean modern decor is a good match to the hip vibe of the Gros neighborhood and know for award winning pintxos. We stopped in for quick pre dinner snack and drink and it was like stepping into food nirvana. Had to exert extreme self control otherwise I would likely gorge myself to oblivion. In addition to the glorious counter pintxos their hot pintxos are must try, especially the Itxaso. The proper way of enjoying pintxo would be to order a glass of wine and munch on 1 or 3 pintxos before moving on but I'm an uncouth American damnit so I stopped at 13! And yes, that was our pre-dinner snack!

Yelp
Compared to the other pintxos bars that we went to over 2 separate trips to San Sebastian, this was just okay. They had about 15-20 types of prepared pintxos on the bar, an average selection for a smaller pintxos bar. Nothing looked super appetizing from the pre-made choices, and since fresh pintxos from the kitchen are usually always better, we went that route. Txopito - Basically 3 pieces of lightly deep fried squid on a piece of bread, topped with caramelised onions. Was just okay, nothing too memorable. Txalupa - Gratinado de Setas con Langostinos - Mushrooms with crabs on top of a pastry shell. There wasn't a ton of crab here, but it was still good. This was one of the pintxos that I liked best from here. Itxaso - Rape con Crema de Marisco - This is mashed up monkfish (like a white fish) with cream and seafood. I liked this one, and it probably tied the txalupa for the ones I liked best out of this bunch. Risotto with Foie Gras - They love their foie gras here, so when you get risotto with mushrooms and foie gras on top, it's decadent and rich. I've had other risottos that were better so I wouldn't trek out of my way to get this here, but if you like foie and you like risotto, this is a heartier, more filling pintxo. Overall, we had these 4 pintxos and 2 glasses for wine for ~$22 which is not too bad, considering there was foie and seafood in the mix. It's a fine place to come if you're in Gros and don't want to go into Parte Vieja, but I think there are better tapas in Parte Vieja. Not bad, but not amazing to give up stomach space when you could be eating elsewhere. If you do come, stick to the food that you order from the kitchen.

Yelp
Items Selected: Foie Torchon with Marmalade and Balsamic Baccala with crispy Onions and Peppers Queso, Iberico, Foie, Marmalade Torta Chicken Croquetta Coffee Flan, Vanilla Ice Cream Separating two Michelin 3* meals by nearly six hours with exploration of San Sebastian limited by falling rain and whipping wind that continued as it had throughout the week in Northeast Spain it was part hunger, part interest, and part seeking shelter that led me to Bar Bergara just after 18h00, and with several upscale Pintxo's offered in a space both large and modern the dining experience proved to be a mixed one, service almost "French" in its disinterest with cost-to-quality ratios skewed too far leftward. No doubt more 'upscale' than Gatz or El Globo in Bilbao, the lighting alone an improvement as visitors are treated to large tables and polished surfaces with concrete floors and ceilings spanning high, the process at Bar Bergara is nonetheless similar to that of other like-places and grabbing a plate with eyes on diversity as opposed to 'filling up' a five Pintxo sampling was selected along with a kitchen plated dessert. Benefited by an early arrival, everything I tasted from the bar still warm except for the creamy liver that one would not expect to be anyhow, it was with bites of salt cod on toasted bread beneath chopped peppers and onions that the meal commenced, an "all my favorite things" follow-up of pork, cheese, and foie gras as decadent as it sounds though lent nice balance by bright citrus marmalade. Turning to tradition for plate two, the €2.50 croquetta not only expensive but a bit oily despite being "fresh," a better series of bites was located in the springy Spanish Torta with finely diced potatoes accented in Paprika while the simultaneously delivered flan was rich in espresso notes alongside half-melted ice cream that was unfortunately quite bland.

Yelp
This was our last stop one night out on the town. It is on the list some of the tours do. Bright, light and places to sit are here. The wine was good, but a bit more pricy than other places we went. The pintxos we had were perfectly fine and tasty, like the pate, but none made me go wow. So perfectly fine, but not enough to make me come running back. Did not pass the old guy out in front test, which got to be our standards when looking for interesting places. If 2 or more old guys our out infant, go try it!

Yelp
We happened upon this place and were drawn in simply by the look of the pintxos. From round balls on sticks to layered savory and salty mixtures to towering displays of culinarily creativity, we could not resist. Do not forget to look at the warm pintxos menu not just the cold ones on the counter.

Yelp
Amazing tapas! Very unique and creative. At 2-3.50 euros per tapa, this restaurant/bar is on the expensive end for Gros but the food was well worth it! Boyfriend and I ate a medium-sized meal for 30 euros total.

Yelp
Bar Bergara has won tons of awards for their tapas and they are very different than your usual Spanish tapas bars. Their dished are unique and creative and play with different textures and flavors. Come into the restaurant and ask for a plate. The cold tapas are served at the bar and you can just pick them as you please. The hot tapas need to be ordered from the server. At the end, you just tell them how many cold and how many hot tapas you had and they give you a check, usually 2.50-3 Euros each. My favorites were: -Txalupa (creamy, crunchy, hot, lobster/fish on a little tart) -Tortilla de Anchoas (cold toast with an egg omelette stuffed with potato and anchovies) -Itxaso (shrimp/fish with cream on tart, hot) -Udaberri (hot, creamy ham on a tart) -Hamburguesa de Tomate (cold, cod with tomato confit, very refreshing) Make sure you order some alcohol and sit and enjoy with the locals. Don't get full on this stop, there are tons of other places to eat!

Yelp
Wow ! Very good pintxo. And the wine was the best we have come across so far. Elias mora 2009 so good we will be back very soon maybe tonight. The bartender was pleasant and helpfully.

Laura M.

Yelp
Omg, this is the best pintxos in San Sebastián! Very quaint restaurant, all white inside with a beautiful display of pintxos! Very popular with locals and tourists! A nice outdoor seating ! The foi gras pâte was delicious !

Yelp
If you're looking for a quiet pinxtos bar away from the main drag, this place is perfect! I had a few tapas from the bar, all of which were delicious, and ordered some txalupas (crab meat in a delicious creamy sauce) which were divine.

Yelp
A great place to go for dinner! Very good pinxtos and not expensive. Very friendly service. We will certainly go back.

Yelp
After reading reviews we were excited to try this place. No doubt, the pintxos were pretty much on par with our expectations based on what others have shared. I haven't Yelped in awhile, but I'm compelled to point out the service here was sub-par. I only hope it was just a bad night for our server. But, it seemed more like he was just being himself. I'm all for giving people the benefit of the doubt, but he was not friendly or helpful and they were not very busy so I'm not sure what was up... From the moment we arrived, the server was uninterested in engaging with us in any way that would suggest he had any care that we chose to dine here. There are other places within a block or two away that we experienced better food and a much better experience for less money. For this reason, I likely won't be back and I thought others would want to know. I'm surprised it wasn't as great as what I'd read from the other reviews. I was disappointed with this one.

Yelp
Basque Tapas bar "Pintxos" great !

Yelp
Excellent twist on traditional Pintxos or tapas here in the Gros neighborhood of San Sebastian. This is one of the few places in the neighborhood that does really innovative things and exciting things with its tapas. You will see an interesting mix of locals and tourists here enjoying the tapas which are not inexpensive. The service is excellent and is it wonderful place to enjoy some time.

David S.

Yelp
Tomato "hamburger", scallop etc all great. We had 2014 El Regajal and it was excellent.

Yelp
Great food experience especially if you want to avoid touristic area of the Old Town. Bar Bergara is located in the Gros district (15 minutes walking from the center). You may want to try here some specialities like txangurro (spider crab) or txalupa (casserole of mashrooms and shrimps) which are my favourite here.

Eric T.

Yelp
The Bar is located a 10 minute walk across the bridge from the old town. It is a much more civilized way of enjoying the great tapa food of San Seb. There was not a big crowd even on a Saturday, and there was actually good service. And their food is better than most of the tapa bars in the old town.

N S.

Yelp
Absolutely incredibly tasty beautiful food! I've been in San Sebastián 3 days and haven't missed a day yet! Loved the boccharones with 'false lasagna' mix of eggplant, tomato onions--- going to try ( unsuccessfully I'm sure) to replicate this one at home. Also the first day they had this incredible fish salad with an avocado sauce. Haven't seen it again but I keep looking

Yelp
Delicious tapas, only a very short walk from our hotel, Hotel Record. Very friendly staff. Great vino tinto!
