Compared to the other pintxos bars that we went to over 2 separate trips to San Sebastian, this was just okay. They had about 15-20 types of prepared pintxos on the bar, an average selection for a smaller pintxos bar. Nothing looked super appetizing from the pre-made choices, and since fresh pintxos from the kitchen are usually always better, we went that route.
Txopito - Basically 3 pieces of lightly deep fried squid on a piece of bread, topped with caramelised onions. Was just okay, nothing too memorable.
Txalupa - Gratinado de Setas con Langostinos - Mushrooms with crabs on top of a pastry shell. There wasn't a ton of crab here, but it was still good. This was one of the pintxos that I liked best from here.
Itxaso - Rape con Crema de Marisco - This is mashed up monkfish (like a white fish) with cream and seafood. I liked this one, and it probably tied the txalupa for the ones I liked best out of this bunch.
Risotto with Foie Gras - They love their foie gras here, so when you get risotto with mushrooms and foie gras on top, it's decadent and rich. I've had other risottos that were better so I wouldn't trek out of my way to get this here, but if you like foie and you like risotto, this is a heartier, more filling pintxo.
Overall, we had these 4 pintxos and 2 glasses for wine for ~$22 which is not too bad, considering there was foie and seafood in the mix. It's a fine place to come if you're in Gros and don't want to go into Parte Vieja, but I think there are better tapas in Parte Vieja. Not bad, but not amazing to give up stomach space when you could be eating elsewhere. If you do come, stick to the food that you order from the kitchen.
