The Best Meals For $20 & Under In Seattle

"If you’re going to shell out a lot on drinks around Capitol Hill later and want to go easy on dinner, splitting a pizza with friends is a solid plan. At Blotto, you’ll pay less than 10 bucks per person and still might likely leave a straggler slice or two. The excellent New York-style pies here range from a phenomenally done classic cheese to Ezzo pepperoni and castelvetrano olives. Share a caesar too, and don't forget multiple sides of Calabrian chili-vin for dunking your crust ends in." - aimee rizzo, carlo mantuano

Where To Have A Lunch Meeting Downtown

"There are business lunches where it makes sense to go somewhere nice and have pasta or a steak. Then there are the business lunches when you just want some pizza, and in that case, go to Bar Taglio. They specialize in Roman-style pizza by the slice, and it’s thick, crunchy, and topped with delicious combinations like salami and Calabrian chile or potato, egg yolk, and guanciale. Sit at the marble bar, get a tart beet salad on the side, and before you know it, those Q2 OKRs will practically write themselves. Try one of their mini 2-ounce martinis if you need some extra inspiration." - aimee rizzo

"Pizza and Salumi at Bar Cotto A neighborhood bar with Italian flair, Bar Cotto offers a carefully edited menu of pizza, vegetables, bruschetta, and local and imported cured meats. The Corona bean and cauliflower salad with currants and rosemary is a must-try, while the creamy richness of fior de latte cheese adds the finishing touch to the Parma pizza (Prosciutto di parma, arugula, fior di latte, tomato). Desserts have unexpected twists, like the warm peach cobbler with polenta streusel. Happy hour is daily from 4–6 p.m. and 10–11 p.m., and features a menu of selected half-price pizzas and salads, plus discounts on wine and beer."

Food was great, the pizzas were delicious and I loved the pasta we ordered as well. Funghi pizza was my favorite. We just had an unfortunate experience with trying to get a table. We ended up waiting over an hour till we were seated. One of our friends in the group had called previously to ask for a wait time and she was told no longer than 15-20 minutes. We were comped a dessert only after asking. Food itself was really good though!

The sign outside says they have the best happy hour in town and it's true. This was actually our second time here and again it didn't disappoint. The portions are great, especially for happy hour, and are delicious. The diavolo pizza has a kick but is very tasty, and the gnocci was very fragrant. We never get salad - especially caesar because I don't like how it's usually drenched in dressing and is soggy and super pungent, but we ordered it this day and it was the best decision. It was very fresh, crisp, and the perfect amount of dressing and lots and lots of fresh parmesan. Who knew I'd be writing a review of caesar salad? Service was also very good and everyone was friendly and attentive. We'll definitely be back!

We had one of the worst dining experiences at Bar Cotto. From the moment we walked in, we didn't feel welcome. When we arrived, someone from the bar asked if we had a reservation. We said we didn’t and were hoping to get a table for two. He audibly sighed, rolled his eyes, and pointed us to a table. When he brought us menus, he just tossed them onto the table as he walked past. In hindsight, we should have left at that point, but we were hungry and decided to stay. After a little while, our server Cristian, who was the only redeeming part of our visit, came by and took our order. He was helpful and kind. We ordered two cocktails, the bruschetta, and two pasta dishes. The cocktails and bruschetta were good, but both pastas were overcooked and drowning in sauce. Mine was so bad I could barely get through a few bites. Meanwhile, the person who greeted us kept pacing around, sighing, and slamming tables and chairs. The restaurant itself had a nice ambiance, but between the inedible main dishes and the unwelcoming atmosphere, this is not a place we’d return to.

Very cute cap hill neighborhood pizzeria and casual Italian food. Pasta is outstanding. We did not try pizza but many other patrons have them and they look amazing. We plan to return to try them. Wait staff is very friendly and helpful. The only funky thing is their music 😅... Kind of new age techno Japanese tunes and quite loud. Music is obviously a very personal choice, and we appreciate this place has a lot of character. It is played to the level that if you aren't into it, it may bug you. Just something to consider. ***7/23 Edit: sorry i should have specified that this is an overdue review on a visit in early June, not from last night. The Flaming Lips pl actually sounds pretty good!

I walked in in the mission of trying a new restaurant in Capitol Hill, and I left the place delighted by the food, service and experience. I ordered the three course happy hour meal, and it’s was the perfect experience to share with my partner. I was very thankful by the presentation of everything and the taste. The waitress was very engaging, knowledgeable and friendly. She went above and beyond so we could have a great experience. I loved the relaxing and intimate atmosphere the restaurant offers. Definitely a great environment to celebrate with your partner, go on a date or catch up with friends. Bar Cotto is definitely my new go to place when I want Italian food in Capitol Hill.

The food was good for the price; nothing special for Italian food in Seattle. We were disappointed in particular that the kitchen apparently forgot to season our focaccia and that the pickled beets were very bland. The staff was very friendly and attentive, although they made a couple of mistakes with our order. In spite of the rough edges, it was a pleasant spot worth a return visit. I think my review suffers a bit simply because of the wealth of competition in the area.

I went out last night to enjoy a meal with a friend, and Bar Cotto did not disappoint! The atmosphere is warm and inviting, the service was excellent, as was the food. We ordered several appetizers and an entree and shared. We very much enjoyed all of it! Be sure to try the Brussel sprouts and the Burrata!

I love this place. It’s a great find. Very casual, and really friendly staff. Also, 4 people, at $30 each, including 2 bottles of quality Italian wine, is very affordable. The espresso martini “Flatliber” is the best I’ve ever had. It’s not usually my thing.
