Bar Harbor - Review - South Lake Union - Seattle - The Infatuation

"Bar Harbor specializes in seafood rolls, from Maine lobster ones to local Dungeness crab. You have a couple of dressing options, but stick with the mayo and celery versions. If it’s cold out, get a side of clam chowder with whatever you order. And if it’s summer (or that weirdly random 60-degree day in January), eat your lobster rolls outside on the patio with a refreshing negroni slushie. Where to Find Boozy Slushies in Seattle for Takeout - Eater Seattle

"There are few things that signal the height of summer like boozy slushies paired with lobster rolls and clam dip. This seafood and drinks oasis in South Lake Union has some seating on its patio, churning out frozen cocktails with rotating flavors, most recently a New York Sour, which is whiskey with a float of red wine." - Megan Hill, Gabe Guarente

Best Crab and Lobster Rolls in the Seattle Area - Eater Seattle

"South Lake Union’s East Coast-inclined restaurant serves up different styles of both lobster rolls: with mayo (Maine), butter (Connecticut), and the slightly more elaborate New England version, with fixins such as celery and chive. Its owner is from the Northeast originally, so the restaurant is precise with such regional distinctions." - Gabe Guarente

I made a quick pit stop here for lunch. I had the roasted chicken sandwich. It was great. The Ceasar salad that came with the sandwich was ok. I started the meal with the deviled eggs which were good. Service was great and I'd come back on a return visit to try other things.

Google
Lively little place with fantastic food! The prawn ceviche with salsa verde was a winner to be sure. However, the real showstopper here was literally the best clam chowder I’ve ever had! Now this is not your typical thick chowder from a can. It’s a lighter broth, still rich, and the bacon sets it over the top!

After a long international flight, we recently popped into Bar Harbor in Seattle and had a delightful experience. Upon arrival, we were warmly greeted by the friendly manager, Brian, who quickly ushered us to a table and informed us about the happy hour specials. The food was overall delicious, although I found the crab cake sliders to be a bit on the dry side. On the other hand, the lobster mac & cheese was a standout with a generous serving of lobster that really made the dish shine. The oysters were outstanding—nice, plump, and incredibly fresh! The restaurant has a great vibe, filled with high energy and a cool atmosphere. While our server wasn’t always accessible, Brian was there to save the day whenever we needed assistance. One interesting tidbit: they don’t carry any ketchup! It was a unique touch that added to the character of the place. Overall, Bar Harbor is a fantastic spot to unwind after a long day of travel, and I would definitely recommend it!

Google
Bar Harbor offers a mix of hits and misses. The lobster roll sandwich and crab cake sandwich were both absolutely delicious, full of fresh seafood flavor. However, the clam chowder was a bit of a letdown and didn’t quite match the quality of the other dishes. Still, it’s worth a visit for the sandwiches alone!

Google
Stopped here for evening to have dinner with a group of colleagues. We got a table, ordered drinks, and then put in the food order. We ate some fresh oysters and lobster/crab rolls. They ran short on crab and I got a lobster crab roll. All of us were fulfilled with the roll! They were delicious!! I would definitely eat here again when I’m in town.

Google
Food has always been very good and the seafood is fresh. I usually do the lobster rolls, but I opted for the lobster salad this time, which still had a good portion of lobster. The clam chowder is tasty and full of clam bits but was a little runny and not as thick as I wouldve liked. The interior restaurant is a nice option if the weather is bad, while the outdoor window service and seating are great during the hot summer days.

Google
Lobster roll the way you want it! You can choose from 3 different styles of lobster roll and a side. It’s not cheap though, you’re looking at $25ish for the lobster roll and it’s not large in size either. They do have a really cool bar attached to the restaurant, so have fun with some drinks or after work hang out. Overall, a little on the expensive side, but tasty, and a cool little hang out spot in downtown Seattle.

Google
Stopped in while in town before a cruise and decided to grab an early dinner at Bar Harbor. I sure am glad we did! I had the “Pain Killah” for my drink. It was super tasty and had just the right balance of sweetness and still had the ability to taste the rum! For food, I had the Maine style lobster roll. It was fantastic! The lobster was super fresh, cooked properly and was dressed just right! My wife had the beef and cheddar and absolutely destroyed it! She said the beef was super fresh, and clearly made in house! Our girls each had a grilled cheese and they both totally destroyed them! If you’re in the area and looking for a nice spot for a quick lunch, stop by! You wont be disappointed!

Yelp
Great location and lots of other food choices nearby! The worker was very friendly and offered water while I waited for my lobster roll to be ready. Lobster roll - pretty flavorful. Lots of lobster to fill the roll but the roll itself is pretty small. Lobster is sweet and seasoning around enhances the flavor! Only wish if i compare to some places in boston is for the texture to be a bit bouncier. 3.75/5 Clam chowder - Good chowder 3/5

Yelp
I was recommended this spot by a colleague who really enjoyed their lobster rolls. I showed up Monday afternoon during the happy hour (M-F 3-6 pm), and while I was tempted to get a lobster roll, I used the opportunity to try multiple foods thanks to their happy hour prices! I opted for 3 different dishes: 1/2 dozen oysters, crabcake sliders, and New England clam chowder. -Oysters: I really enjoyed the oysters! Incredibly fresh and only $2 a piece during happy hour! Very large as well! -Crabcake sliders: I also really enjoyed these! The crabcake was nicely fried and you could hear the crisp in every bite. It went well with the slaw and the slider buns. -Clam Chowder: The chowder was tasty, but it was incredibly thin. Felt more soupy in texture than thick like how a chowder should be. The staff were super friendly and helpful throughout, and made the experience enjoyable! Next time I'll have to come back and get the lobster roll my colleague raved about!

Yelp
Ordered outside and ate. Chowder was great, we had the lobster roll, oysters and the crab cake sliders. Great service, they were attentive and friendly. They gave great recommendations.

Yelp
Food was amazing and service staff was very friendly, this place was recommended by locals while visiting on vacation and it didn't disappoint.

Yelp
It was our last night in Seattle, and we knew we wanted to try the lobster rolls. We came across this one near the downtown area! It's located in some type of food hall kind of thing and there is a bar. The kitchen was cool because it's placed right next to the dining area so it was cool to watch our food be prepared. We wanted some cider and the waiter brought out all the options and let us choose. We got the cup of clam chowder, the Maine lobster roll (mayo) and the New England lobster roll (mayo, celery, chive). Yum! Price was pretty high, but it was expected. For everything, it was about $94.
google avatar

Yelp
4.5 Stars Open seat and kitchen at this spot, casual vibes. There are seafood and non-seafood items alike. Oh and cocktails of course! My BF enjoyed the Burrata BLT ($16) and I thought the crab cake melt ($19) was delicious too - perfectly griddled and a lovely side salad on the side. It is located in a building with a bunch of other things. Fast and friendly service.

Yelp
One of my favorite lobster rolls in Seattle, also a great spot for a beer or a cider!

Yelp
I like this spot and have been here a couple times. We went for drinks after an exercise class and they were able to accommodate about 8 of us. The food was good and they have a nice selection of drinks. Always love the pubs and the server made sure we were always happy and had what we needed. In winter the indoor seating is cozy and kind of like a tiny modern neighborhood pub. I had some nachos my friend shared and a kelp cocktail. They do have vegetarian or veggie if modified options (and other dietary restriction options like GF) too which I appreciate at a seafood place.
google avatar

Yelp
Granted I dont get lobster rolls that much, I thought it was solid. I really like the celery in the new england style! Roll was $27 and comes with a salad or slaw. Probably is a bit pricier than other places, but at the least I didnt feel like they skimped on lobster meat. Slaw was pretty light and I think it could use a little more flavor but I guess it's ok that way since you get a lot. There's also a takeaway window but it seemed closed--not sure if maybe the window has different hours or something.

Yelp
Went here on a Wednesday at around 12 pm and it was pretty busy with only a few of the smaller tables empty. It's in the same building as mbar, mochidonut, and a coffee shop. There's not a wall or anything that separates the area so it's very much in the open. It's My friend and I decided to get a lobster and a crab roll and split them. The service was very nice and friendly, we got seated instantly. As for the rolls, I thought they were just fine. I thought the crab roll was a lil salty but my friend didn't seem to agree with me. I did like how it was creamy and had more flavor to it with the celery. Lobster roll was just fine to me. Not sure I'd come back Crab roll - 7/10 Lobster roll - 6/10

Yelp
We were in Seattle for 24 hours, passing through and we found this place near our hotel. We walked in and they were immediately super friendly. We ordered a cup of their clam and bacon chowder, a French dip and their BBLT, their take on the BLT. Everything came out quickly and was delicious! The "cup" of chowder was huge, what most places would call a bowl. My sandwich was tasty and I really enjoyed it. They had several beers on tap and lots more in cans in the fridge. The restaurant is in a mall-like building, but it was clean and pretty hip nonetheless. Our server was very friendly and I would highly recommend this place.
google avatar

Yelp
Everything was amazing!!! The oysters were fresh and juicy, the lobster tacos were meaty and filling, and the burrata was flavorful and had a perfect combo of mushrooms and squash. The bar/restaurant is loud and a bit dark but the ambiance is fun and lively. Service is great and very helpful. There was one rum cocktail that I didn't particularly like, but everything else was fantastic!

Yelp
One of my friends told me that this is his fave lobster roll spot so I knew I had to check it out! We went on a holiday and it was pretty quiet. My husband and I both got the Connecticut roll and asked for hot butter on the side. The bread was warm and perfectly buttered up. The lobster serving was not bad but def not as much as the other lobster rolls spots we've been to in the Seattle area. The clam chowder was delicious. It's on the thinner side, but I prefer that style. It's not as salty or too clammy as other chowders so I was able to eat more of it. The service is good! Our server was very attentive and checked in with us a few times without hovering. The building where Bat Harbor is looks pretty cool! Seems like a cool spot for lunch on a work day.

Yelp
Great place for lobster rolls! Loved the salad, friendly staff, nice outdoor seating, good parking around SLU, and great flavor. I would come back.
google avatar

Yelp
Came for happy hour, and left a very happy. The happy hour oysters were two dollars each and you must buy either half a dozen or a full dozen at a time. It felt like a really great deal also had the five dollar crab sliders. Those were so bomb that I ordered three more and for that happy hour crunch got the nachos which is simple, but for the price I would get it again. Service was efficient and the waiters were great at letting us know when happy hour was about to end. It was a great almost like bar/sports bar, but elevated environment.
google avatar

Yelp
Pretty solid lobster roll! Came here on a Wednesday to check this spot out and we ordered from the outside patio area. Lots of seating. They also have an indoor area with seated service. (Note: they only do happy hour in their main restaurant, not in the outdoor area) I got the lobster roll with chips (it's a bag of chips) and the clam chowder. The chowder was mainly bacon, not too many clams. It's more of a runny soup style. Came with oyster crackers. Overall, the food was solid and I can see myself coming back once in awhile when the lobster roll craving hits.

Phu H.

Yelp
Foods: Good, simple menu easy to decide. Clams chowder is not the New England style, so it is more like soup instead of thick chowder. A little salty, but with a squeeze of lime, it's good! The clams are large chunks, not the can type. I prefer this. Service: Fast, efficient. Ambiance: part of the food hall but seating like a restaurant with a full bar with seats at the bar too. . Lou's music, open seatings, simple wooden chairs and table, nothing fancy. Very casual place to dine in big group or small as in one or two.
google avatar

Emily C.

Yelp
Got a new england style lobster roll to go. The portion of lobster to bread is tragic. Texture of the lobster was rubbery, the mixture was poorly seasoned. For $27 it was a major rip off
google avatar

Yu Karen A.

Yelp
Good food, made me reminisce my time in Bar Harbor, Maine. The vibes are good, service is great as well. In downtown area, so kind of crowded, but not too bad.
google avatar

Jess H.

Yelp
Delicious food, small portions for the price, awesome service. Would definitely go back for the drawn butter crab roll!

Marshall S.

Yelp
Way over priced! 2 small lobster sandwichs w/ coleslaw plus 2 happy hour $6 beers and the tab was $82 plus tip totaled $98. Service was good, atmosphere was uninpressive. We could have had a waterfront dinner at Anthony's. We won't be back.
google avatar

Yelp
Originally was going to visit my friend and make pho but she decided it was too nice out to be stuck inside so we wandered here for some HH oysters and drinks. I really enjoy coming here; staff is great, the food yummy, you get to people watch, and meet their fur child. Oyster was not in season as they are spawning so we ordered other things on the menu. My friend ordered lobster taco and devilled eggs and I got the crab cake grilled cheese. Everything is pretty yummy here. Drinks are also really strong and delicious. I heard the front outside seating was just for the summer so when the weather gets colder you'll have to go inside the building for food and drinks. Anyways, I'll probably be back. I work near by and I curious if the menu changes during the winter. OH I forgot. Get the crab dip! It's bomb. Okay bye now hahaha
google avatar

Shay K.

Yelp
Enjoyed dining there last week. Great location and found a lot of available street parking. Lobster Mac and cheese was great. Clam chowder tasty. Great ambience too with a wide open seating plan. Will def be back.
google avatar

Elana A.

Yelp
The double lobster roll here was delicious! We had it New England style and the chive and celery were so fresh in every bite. I love that they have the option for double lobster meat as that really elevated the experience. Even the bread for the roll really stood out! We had a tuna poke appetizer as well but that was way too salty unfortunately. Drinks were good and service was pleasant. Come here if you're looking for a relaxed atmosphere to have a fantastic lobster roll!
google avatar

Darlene B.

Yelp
This is such a lowkey spot for some good food in the SLU area. Came here to meet with a friend while I was in town. They have mostly picnic tables outside and a couple of bistro style seats. It was kind of hard to decide what I wanted from here, but I knew I wanted something hearty so I went for the lobster Mac n cheese - it was the right choice for me! My friend got their French dip sandwich - she said it hit the spot for her as well.
google avatar

Amanda B.

Yelp
I wanted to LOVE this place but it was meh. They had a great lobster roll but they had lack luster app choices and cold clam chowders. The employees hovered bc it was slow and the wine choices were not in favor for white wines.

Kris C.

Yelp
Our last night in Seattle and we wanted to get some seafood one more time. We really liked the open concept kitchen. We had the lobster roll and the lobster tacos. It was all delicious! We even ordered another lobster roll instead of dessert :) The guys working there were also friendly.
google avatar

Kevin D.

Yelp
Their speciality seems to be lobster with very reasonable prices. My companions very much enjoyed the ceviche, although I don't care for shrimp. I ordered the chicken sandwich - presentation was excellent although the herbed chicken wasn't quite was I hoped for. The slaw was very good, sweet just the way I like it. Our server was excellent and very attentive, she clearly had a goal of ensuring we had a good experience.
google avatar

L G.

Yelp
Good place for a lobster roll, but not as big as one you'd get in the NE. But for Seattle, it's definitely a good place.

Thomas S.

Yelp
I had the Lobster Mac n Cheese with Salad today and it was, perhaps, the worst Mac n Cheese I've ever had. The top of the bowl was dry with the mac pasta crispy. The "cheese" sauce was at the bottom of the bowl and was too watery and not cheesy at all. The lobster and sauce was very bland. The sale was tasty however, but not supposed to be the star of the meal. My husband's Lob Salad was OK. The eggs, bacon and tomatoes were tasty, however the dressing had no flavor. For the price of this lunch, the service could have been better. We were never asked how our meal sas. There was no checkup and there were only a few couples there.
google avatar

Coolie C.

Yelp
I came here with a couple friends for lunch. We tried the Lobster Roll (New England and Connecticut style), the clam chowder, and the crab dip. The crab dip was super yummy, creamy and bright. The lobster rolls were delightful. The bread came out freshly griddled so it was warm and crispy. I had the New England and ate every bite and of course all the meaty lobster that fell out. Yum. I didn't try the clam chowder but according to my friend it was 'actually really good'.
google avatar

Tammy E.

Yelp
I finally got to try this place for lunch. I was a little disappointed as the service was very slow, despite us being the only ones eating inside. We shared an appetizer and each had salads. We had to flag someone down just to ask for the check after sitting patiently for a long time after finishing our meal. The food was very good so it was worth the not so great service. Next time I'll sit on the patio and enjoy the sunshine!
google avatar

Libby W.

Yelp
I got take out, but did get to enjoy the outdoor seating for a bit while I waited for my food. I arrived not too long after opening, so there weren't many people there and social distancing was easy. I was really impressed by the service, and I think it's pretty hard to make much of an impression on a take out order, so that says a lot. I got the Maine lobster roll with a side of slaw ($22) and a cup of New England clam chowder ($10). The roll was as yummy as it looked but the chowder didn't really do it for me, unfortunately. It was thinner than I expected and a little bland. It definitely wasn't bad, but next time I would try something else for an appetizer instead. I think the deviled eggs are calling to me. I was able to get a really good craft cocktail for takeout, as well, which was the old fashioned du jour (I believe it involved bacon in some way that day). They'll mix you up a single to take home, or you can do a little bottle that has enough for 3-4 drinks in it, which seemed to be the better deal, so I did that. It turned out to be totally worth it - def get yourself some craft cocktails to take home! If you can't find street parking, which can definitely be a challenge in this area, parking in the building is expensive. I was only there for 15 mins and it was like $7. Also, I had never been here before and was a bit confused on where to go to order my food, since the indoor dining area was still closed due to covid restrictions and that's the first thing you see when you come up from the parking garage. I paid about $80 including tip and parking, so it was a special treat and not something I can do all the time, but whenever I'm having a "treat myself" kind of day this is a solid option.

Jennifer R.

Yelp
We've been coming here for years, primarily because the lobster rolls are soooo good! Usually we eat outside but had a chance to eat in and experience the full menu! It didn't disappoint, chowder and crab cake salad were excellent...and of course a lobster roll :-)
google avatar

Jun Li Z.

Yelp
Came here with a colleague! He chose this place because of their delicious lobster rolls. Service was decent. We chose to sit inside because it was chilly outside in late May. It was loud inside but this place is located inside a spacious setting where other restaurants share the same space. I got the lobster roll New England style and loved it! The bread was sweet and lightly buttered, the lobster was great. I docked off one star because although I understand lobster isn't cheap, the sandwich itself was $25 with a side. While the sandwich was good, I don't think I'd come out of my way just to pay about $30-$35 (tax and tip) for a seafood sandwich.
google avatar

Kim G.

Yelp
Came for the lobster roll. It was good, not as good as Luke's nearby. The atmosphere is iffy - there was a skirmish at the bar that involved staff, they did apologize to us after for the scene. Good selection of beer. Don't see why we would come back.
google avatar

Jieming L.

Yelp
Had an office happy hour on Thursday. We took the outdoor seats, they were spacious, clean and contemporary. We ordered drinks and snacks at the window. The non-alcoholic drinks are strong and very flavorful. The food are very clean and taste very fine for office gatherings. The dips are less interesting, they all taste like the same. Overall, a good experience.
google avatar

Will S.

Yelp
This place was awesome! Clam chowder and the lobster roll were incredible. Definitely need to stop by when in the SLU area. Service was excellent and has a few screens to watch the game!
google avatar

Mark J.

Yelp
Bar Harbor has a nice, spacious outdoor seating area where you can definitely bring a large group of 5. Great place to catch drinks and food in a central space. Drinks are varied from slushies, beers, and wines! I definitely like their slushies during a hot day on their patio. The staff here are super sweet to help you peruse the menu or recommend drinks. I got their lobster roll which was perfectly buttered and had a large amount of lobster! Their menu has a small variety specializing in seafood and sandwiches. As an FYI, they have not done happy hour since the pandemic had started a few years back.
google avatar

Wennie H.

Yelp
Wanted a lobster roll and it was everything I could have hoped for. I opted for the New England style. The bread was slightly crispy, toasted but didn't leave debris with every bite, not too oily or greasy, huge chunks of lobster that you could actually taste aka wasn't too heavy on the mayo and the celery added a nice flavor change. My only qualm was that the lobster was slightly chewy which leads me to believe it was over cooked. The slaw was also pretty good, not drowning in mayo. My partner got the lobb salad and said it was really good, I didn't particularly like the vinaigrette, little too tart for me. Bar Harbor is generous with the amount of lobster hence the pricey price tag. I think it was worth the money though my heart did hurt a touch when I realized I spent $71 after tax and tip for a lobster roll and lobster salad haha
google avatar

Tazeen L.

Yelp
Convenient spot in SLU for seafood, with an outdoor order/pickup window and covered bench seating. Had the lobster roll, chowder and deviled eggs to-go: The roll had a good portion of lobster in a soft toasted roll. Would have benefited from a little more seasoning. The chowder was fine, a little bland and the small diced protein and veggies made it hard to tell what you were eating. The deviled eggs had to be reconstructed and couldn't really taste the crab. The price point was a little steep, but not out of line given the neighborhood and portion size.
google avatar

Barbara K.

Yelp
Spontaneously stopped in for lunch. Had the bacon clam chowder, which had a great creamy consistency with no flour, but for me the bacon overpowered the clam flavor. We also had lobster rolls, Maine style with mayo, and they were delicious! Perfectly toasted buns, and served with a cole slaw that really complemented the lobster, and wasn't too sweet, a frequent complaint of mine. Service was great!
google avatar

Alyssa B.

Yelp
Ordered Lobster Roll and it was super yummy! Will definitely come back! I like the ambiance and service is great

Yelp
Yum! Stumbled upon this place walking around. Got the lobster salad and it was delicious.

Pam H.

Yelp
Looked forward to meeting relatives for dinner. Regretfully, the lobster roll (Ct style) was inedible. Lobster was alarmingly past it, a couple of claw pieces and some small worm like something's made up the bulk of the base. No melted butter and smear of some kind of spread on roll. For $27, it was not worth my anticipation. I sent it back. Clam chowder was delicious.
google avatar

Stacy S.

Yelp
Thankful for outside, covered eating area to enjoy my first lobster roll! Funnily, I've actually been to. Bar Harbor, Maine. I didn't have a lobster roll there because the combination of lobster and mayo sounded disgusting. My boyfriend convinced me to give it a try. So on a rainy day this weekend, we grabbed Crab Stuffed Deviled Eggs crab and a Lobster Roll "Maine-style". Both were delicious. The staff was great, and the atmosphere fun. I do.i recommend that they add some signage for the compost, recycle and landfill bins because those were a co-mingled mess.
google avatar

Yelp
We ventured out today for a socially distanced lobster roll in their deck. Loved it! Their Lobster rolls were awesome & their arnold palmer was exactly what I needed. Plus - everyone was all masked up & super friendly!

Yelp
Fun spot in an unexpected location in south lake union. Definitely recommend the New England lobster roll. Clam chowder with homemade hot sauce was yummy.

Yelp
The lobster Mac and cheese and Caesar salad was a great portion of food to split for two people. Both were great! There is indoor and outdoor seating - some in the sun and some in the shade. We will definitely be back!
