The 12 Best Bars In Mexico City 2024

"In another city, the idea behind Bar Las Brujas could feel overly kitschy. But in CDMX, it’s pitch perfect. Their all-female staff is lovingly referred to as a coven, cocktails are inspired by feminist writers and activists, and their dedication to Mexican herbalism goes beyond decorating your drink with a single sage leaf. The space feels a bit like a refined hotel bar—it’s dimly lit and cozy, and can get a bit loud, but that just means you can discuss your secret potion recipes without anyone overhearing." - guillaume guevara

The 38 Essential Mexico City Restaurants

"Since opening in 2020, the women-led bar team at Brujas has honored female Latin American artists and activists through creative cocktails anchored in Mexican herbal medicine practices, earning a ranking on the North America’s 50 Best Bars list in the process. The bar sits in a turn-of-the-century apartment building known as Casa de las Brujas, the Witches’ House, an iconic architectural piece overlooking the Río de Janeiro plaza in Roma Norte; for decades, the building has been a figure of urban legend, since it housed Pachita, a well-known psychic and medium. The Brujas cocktail list pays tribute to Mexican botanical traditions with herb-driven libations like Woman of the Century (house vermouth, gin, and lavender soda) or the Amazona (tequila, yucca, cinnamon, and pepper tincture)." - Natalia de la Rosa, Daniela Galarza

Atmosphere: 7.5/10 Roma Norte. Ground-level bar inside the Casa de las Brujas. Cozy overall, with a mix of bar stools, low couches, and table seating for groups. Backbar is attractive and well stocked. The music leaned loud — still enjoyable but not ideal for long conversations. A standout detail: this is an all-female bar team, which adds a distinct and empowering identity to the space. Drinks: 8/10 Recommendation: Queen Witch Playful, themed cocktail menu with photos and full ingredient breakdowns. Garnishes were thoughtful and presentation consistent. Glassware was average, and only some drinks came with coasters. Menu concept was memorable and fun. But the flavor balance and depth did not fully convince me. Service: 7/10 Water served on arrival. Team was professional but didn’t come across as especially friendly. Prices felt average for Mexico City.

Even though it was a bit busy we got a table pretty quickly. All the drinks were creative and delicious. The graphic novel for each drink on the menu was especially cool. The staff was super friendly and effortlessly cool.

A+ for uniqueness! Roma Norte isn’t exactly lacking in good bars, but even then Brujas manages to stand out. Interesting drinks, and each one comes with a paired witchy little story in a custom made comic book (my favourite was La Matlazihua). They even have a cute dog (though he wasn’t in the mood to make new friends :( )

Great cocktails and a fun, funky atmosphere. Drinks were delicious and the bar staff were great and a blast to watch in action.

Our group of five popped into Brujas for a quick drink before our dinner just down the street. We didn’t have a reservation, but the hostess was kind enough to squeeze us in before the next group. The place was packed, so we were really glad they made it work. I’d definitely come back to try more from their menu, which features cocktails inspired by different women from various backgrounds and moments in history. Neat spot!

The folks behind this well are knowledgeable and fun. This bar tells a story of the witches who once lived above, transforming the experience into something worth sipping on.

Great location. Great vibe, good service, amazing idea to make a comic book as the cocktail menu. . . Why are the drinks so mid? No, for real, why would you serve these drinks? People can drink them, they aren't bad, but they were straight up disappointing for the price and the buzz. The restaurant across the street had much, much better drinks at two thirds the price and that place looks anything but innovative. Fun concept but when it comes to delivery, I hate to say it, this place feels washed. Overall I'd give it a miss beyond getting a soda water and enjoying the location.

The bar is great. The setting was lovely and staff was friendly. However, by all means, avoid ordering the Hercules beer. The most horrific beer I’ve ever tried. It has a flavor of coffee mixed with soy sauce. This place would’ve been 5 stars if they didn’t serve this atrocity.

Yelp
Good drinks and vibes! Make sure to make a reservation on OpenTable in advance so you don't have to stay on queue. Our favorite was Queen Witch, which is gin and strawberry & yogurt Prosecco.

Yelp
I don't recommend this place. It used to be a great spot to hang out with friends when visiting Mexico, but now it feels unwelcoming. The staff is rude, and it's nearly impossible to get a table. It seems like only the hostess's friends are seated. I'd suggest finding a friendlier place to go instead.

Yelp
Very cool experience including the menu, themed drinks and ambience. Our waiter spoke both English and Spanish which was convenient.

Yelp
The coolest theme. The coolest bartenders and servers. And the coolest drinks. I'm a sucker for a good theme, but it's rare when a business manages to do it in a way that doesn't border on hokey. We made reservations here on Open Table for pre-dinner drinks several weeks ahead of time. It wasn't entirely necessary, but if you're like me and enjoy planning, then go ahead and grab that reservation. The building itself is gorgeous - loads of charm and character. Inside is dark, but with plenty of windows in the front for natural light. The menu is fantastic - a famous woman on a mural and story for every cocktails. Learning and cocktails? Count me in! The service was spectacular - prompt, friendly, and informative. We throughly enjoyed every part of our experience at Las Brujas!

Yelp
The building has history which is why it's called the house of the witches. If you ask your serve they'll be able to tell you it! This bar is totally tan by women which we love. The venue itself is small and if you don't have reservations expect to wait or perhaps sit outside! The cocktails are all very different and stuff I hadn't or wouldn't normally ask for. They turned out delicious and would reccomend stopping in!
