The Best New Cocktail Bars in the San Francisco Bay Area | Eater SF

"Bar Maritime opened on the second floor of Palihotel, a casual bar with seafood-centric bites and a serious cocktail menu by Larry Piaskowy of Rich Table and True Laurel. Nosh on crudo or mussels while sipping on a Maritime Martini, which folds in junmai sake with vodka and plum wine, topped with umeboshi." - Dianne de Guzman

These Are San Francisco’s Most Beautiful Restaurants | Eater SF

"Inside downtown’s Palihotel hides one of San Francisco’s cutest new openings, featuring a decor theme that’s part fishing boat, part old saloon, part chic speakeasy, plus the hotel’s signature mix of prints. Surprisingly, it works. Behind the bar, in a nautically-themed shirt, is seasoned pro Larry Piaskowy of Rich Table and True Laurel, and in the kitchen, new executive chef Felix Santos, previously of Sorrel and Atelier Crenn, has built a menu focusing on seafood and local produce." - Flora Tsapovsky

Bar Maritime - Review - Union Square - San Francisco - The Infatuation

"Bar Maritime is a seafood spot in the Palihotel in Union Square. You can pop in for a martini and a crudo from the raw bar, but they also have entrees like mussels in white wine and miso butter or steak and fries. We haven’t been here yet, but want you to know this spot exists." - Julia Chen

Food, service and everything was great here. Oscar, man in black continuously kept on checking in on us. Our water was always full. Always had a great smile. Julie the bartender was fabulous! Always had a smile as well and loved her laugh. She was so quick with the beverages and welcomed us as soon as walked through the doors. The food was incredible. The bread and butter in itself, so simple and we got seconds of. So delicious and quaint. The tuna tostada, above expectations! Steak was perfectly seasoned. Oysters were fresh and a great sauce pairing with to a cute boat for presentation. We felt at home and treated like family. Could not recommend more!

One of the best hotel bars in SF. It's on the second floor of the Palihotel right by the Stockton St tunnel. That block is a bit grubby, but worth the trek for this hidden gem. We went on a Saturday night after a show, planning to just get a quick drink. But ended up staying for a while because it was just so frigging nice. Their specialty cocktails are magic - they really show the craft of mixology, with surprising and delicious combinations. We were seated promptly and service was great throughout the evening. There's a long bar, and tables and couches spread throughout the space. The room itself is beautiful, honoring its Edwardian heritage but very contemporary. The space is comfy and elegant, and the laid back vibe works well for everything from shorts-and-tee to an upscale night on the town. Cocktails were so good (Maritime Martini is amazing) we had two rounds, then tried some of the food. Its a robust, seafood-focused bar menu. Really fresh local oysters, and we also shared the steak and fries, which was generous and their fries are amazing. Looking around at what others were ordering, would say that portions overall are generous and prices are reasonable for SF, eg, they had multiple wines by the glass for <$15. Rare these days for a nice bar.

I cannot say enough good things about this spot. Stayed at the Pali while visiting for a few nights from LA and ended up here every night. Even though this spot is in a hotel, I really loved how it had such a neighborhoody, local gem kinda feel to it. Larry was the absolute best and my young son literally thought he was family by the time we left! I tried many cocktails and they all were stellar but I particularly loved their icebox martini and the Maritime martini. I wasn’t really sure what to expect of the menu being a bar and all, but the food was amazing! The oysters and crudo were great, but I especially loved the young favas, which had this incredible vinaigrette, and my 4 year old son ate the fried shrimp, tail and all!! They said they are opening their full restaurant soon so I’m looking forward to that next time I’m visiting.

What a cool little spot! Stopped by for a nightcap and it didn't disappoint. This place would be nice for a date or a catch up with peeps. Sat at the bar and spent an enjoyable hour chatting with the bartender.

Best. Bar. In. SF. Had the loaded fries and some astounding cocktails. The All That Glitters cocktail is essential. Do not skip this hidden gem. The bartenders were so nice and fun. I will be coming back next time I’m in town.

I felt like I was stepping into another time or realm, especially with the amazing jazz/classic live band playing. My Maritime Martini was PERFECT! Who knew that sake, vodka, and plum wine would be a perfect marriage? ALSO I am a slow drinker haha. Our bartender came by and switched our remaining drinks into a colder glass to maintain its deliciousness. I love this attention to detail & service. I can’t wait to come back and hopefully there will be live music again!

Google
This place is incredible, it should be on World's 50 best bars honestly. Not only are the cocktails so delicious that your brain will go crazy from the meticulously crafted flavor but also the intimate atmosphere maintained by the staff and their bond amongst each other brings so much warmth and joy. You don't just enjoy your time here, you build memories that you will cherish forever.

Awesome cocktails and friendly and talented staff. Oysters I ordered were super fresh and expertly shucked. I’ll be back to check out more of the snacks and drinks.

Yelp
New spot, and I have to admit this is a hidden gem. They have jazz Wednesdays, which have turned out to be a unique SF experience. The last two times that I've been in there. The cocktail game was absolute originating from the mind of a seasoned chef and bartender, Larry really knows his stuff, and outwardly digs his pickled concoctions that garnish beautifully crafted cocktails. Erin from Hendricks Gin was there handing out goodies, got this beautiful fan and had a Hendrix gin watermelon cocktail with a pickled watermelon rind. Otherwise the ambience is great. The hotel is really old. It has strong community vibes, and everybody there seems to partake in a grand communal experience. I haven't had the luxury of having food there yet! Drop in for some music and a cocktail, and let me know how it goes!

Yelp
I stopped into Bar Maritime--connected to the Palihotel San Francisco--while staying at the hotel and looking for a late-night dessert and drink. I found exactly what I was hoping for. The vibe was chic, warm, and welcoming--dimly lit with a cool, modern aesthetic and plenty of space to relax at the bar. The service was a standout. I want to give a special shoutout to Hannah, who made me one of the best whiskey sours I've ever had--beautifully balanced and presented. She asked for my whiskey preference, gauged my palate, and made a thoughtful recommendation. I also appreciated that she checked in to see if I'd like an egg white in the drink--traditional in a whiskey sour, but not always within everyone's dietary or drink preferences. That extra layer of attentiveness really stuck with me. Even though I arrived late and the kitchen had closed, I was still able to order a small but tasty flan--the perfect sweet ending to my night. It was also great to see signs of community events around the bar and hear that the restaurant side will be opening soon. The entire staff was friendly and welcoming, putting out great energy all around. All in all, five stars. I can't wait to come back and experience it again once everything is fully up and running. It's clear this place is being built with intention, care, and a commitment to great service.

Yelp
Date: Wednesday, December 18th, 2024 Time: around 6:45pm Party of: 2 *Martini ($20) *Manhattan ($17) *High West Double Rye ($12): as a cocktail ($3) *Haku ($12): as a martini ($4) *Savory Snack Mix ($5) Long ago, I had a group of friends who used to love coming to Burritt Room. Since then, I know this spot has changed quite a few times. A friend and I were in the area and decided to check out the most recent incarnation, Martime. The layout of the venue has pretty much stayed the same. It was a chill Wed night, so we just grabbed two seats at the bar. The bartender was awesome. She was a great conversationalist. We learned a little about how Maritime came to be. We were here for a good 1.5 hours, so ended up doing two rounds. I started off with the manhattan from the menu. Spirit forward, but still nicely balanced. For the 2nd round, I asked her to surprised me with a good follow up. I can't recall what was in it other than the rye, but if memory serves it was similar to a Brooklyn. She actually paired it with chocolate pretzels on the side. I am not a sweet and savory, nor a chocolate person, but this complemented the cocktail. I was pleasantly surprised. I've actually been to four different versions of this venue - Burritt Room, Mystic Room, Fisher Loft, and now Maritime. Gotta say, even with the changing of hands, it's still very consistent in terms of my enjoyment. Plus, parking is easy as the Sutter Stockton garage is right across the street. REVIEW #3650

Yelp
Saw a sign advertising Martinis and Oysters while staying at the Grand Hyatt so had to check it out. Walked upstairs to a bar and seating area. Enjoyed two Ice Box Classic martinis and a dozen oysters served on a BOAT! Six Ichiban and six St. Simon. Great service and vibes from this unique gem.

Yelp
The oysters were exceptionally fresh, and the shrimp cocktail had a perfectly balanced horseradish kick. The crudo was light and flavorful, and the flan was rich without being overly sweet. Service was outstanding and super attentive. The ambiance strikes a cool balance between cozy and hip. the music choice was perfect and not too loud, perfect for enjoyment while striking a conversation. cant wait to come back for more drinks and delish bites!

Yelp
Wow!! What a great, secret little spot. We had the most delicious oyster shooter. It's near Union Square so it was close to all the shopping spots. The staff was phenomenal, shoutout to Andrew and Larry for top notch service! We had three fingers of Oban Scotch for only $8!! Which is crazy! Try the tuna margarita, it's delicious!

Yelp
What a gem! The service was excellent! The staff was attentive and their genuine warmth made us quickly fall in love with the place. Every dish we tried was absolutely delicious and the seafood was incredibly fresh. You have to get the mushrooms!!!! Between the outstanding food, drinks, and the amazing staff, this place is worth a try.
