Bar Meridian

Unsure how I missed this spot for so long but it’s really cute! Seems perfect for date night. I will say the size surprised me. It appeared bigger online but it wasn’t cramped. I do wish there were more booths available. I can totally see groups camping out for hours if they’re able to grab one. They did a great job making this place feel sexy but not seedy elevated but not too upscale. I thought the drink and food menu was so cute and had good pricing. The rum cocktail I got was delicious and strong so I would definitely recommend stopping by. I feel like the outside area is probably really nice in the summer.

If you’re a local, this is the perfect kick back space for you. The owner vets the staff perfectly and they will make you feel at home. I never get tired of this place and have been a regular for 4 years. They continue to grow with talented DJ appearances and new drink specials. Come through and meet some great people.

Maybe the most beautiful bar in the area, Meridian is also friendly, warm, and serves great cocktail and delicious (and inventive) small bites. The bartenders and staff are all fantastic and the record spinning DJ's create a perfect ambiance. And if you're in the mood for a martini and some oysters, you're in exactly the right spot.

Boyfriend and I went here after our visit to the Brooklyn library. It was sophisticated, and the drinks were great. My boyfriend liked their beer selection. Will come back!

You can catch up with a friend. You can chill by yourself. I have to knock off a few points based on my latest visits, but I’m not going to not go because of a few poor experiences. The last few times I’ve gone & not drank, and the bartenders were a bit rude. Very rushy. Very judgey. Sorry I’m just here for the cookie? 🍪 Note there is a DJ for the weekends and it becomes very loud. It’s not that way on the weekdays or in the middle of the day. I really love the chill vibe when the dj isn’t jamming music.

I liked the vibe and music. Coll space that features elements of late 80’s and 90’s Music follows vibes described above. No hip-hop, which is refreshing

Amazing spot for a quick bite after stopping by prospect park or Brooklyn botanic garden. Really really cool interior and great booths to post up in for an early bev or larger group later on in an evening. White bean puree is so good had to order twice. Solid beer options. Good phony Negroni. Bartenders friendly and fats.

I often say if I could live in any neighborhood in New York. it would be Prospect Heights. Mainly because of its proximity to the park, farmer's market, train lines, and gorgeous bars like Bar Meridian. It's the perfect mix of highbrow and low brow, a bar with a menu full of natural wines and good cocktails, but priced well and casual enough to drop in without notice. During temperate months you can grab a seat at one of their outdoor tables or post up inside at the bar. A friend even rented out a corner section once for a private event, which was lovely. I immediately like a bar that serves kombucha, because some of us want to be at a bar and load up on the probiotics. Bar Meridian served theirs in a bottle the size of a wine bottle, so my order because our group's communal kombucha. I didn't try any food but I see that they have a food menu that's short but goes beyond serving bar snacks, with heftier items like spaghetti and a BLT on offer. Their kitchen stays open until their 12am closing time, a rarity these days. The circular bar in the center of the room anchors the whole space, which is a great set up for large and small groups alike. Cute lil spot for a drink.

Would recommend walking to another bar. The owners seem to be keen on making the place unwelcoming.

I've been here numerous times and every time I fall more and more in heavy like with this neighborhood gem. Right before the panny my friend and visited the new spot that was way to close to home. We sat at the bar and struck up a conversation with the bartender. They were warm and friendly. The cocktails were great too. That same energy has continued after the panny this past Friday. Friendly bartenders (Lee In particular), great cocktails on the menu...or just classic ones, good music (the DJ stay hittin), most patrons are pretty friendly and chill. In terms of patrons. I recognize I'm over a certain age and people under a certain age annoy me just b/c (I'm sure they may feel the same about me...LOL) so ignore me with that one...LOL! Just call me Norm....this is now my spot. Shout out to Katie and that day old spaghetti!

Had a drink at Bar Meridian on Wednesday night. A stylish cocktail bar that still feels casual, with lots of good drink options and a pretty substantial food menu. Quality: I just came from dinner, so did not order food, though the menu is tempting. I ordered a single cocktail, The Canary. It was a well made cocktail with good balance. The rye whiskey shined, but the other aspects including amaro made it refreshing and complex. Quantity: Standard cocktails and lots of snack size food items. Value: $15 for Cocktails. Ambiance: Bar Meridian is a cocktail bar located in Prospect Heights. Sitting on a corner, it has a lot of space, both inside and out. An outdoor patio stretches on both sides of the building with additional covered seating in the road. Inside a horseshoe bar sits at the center with some high tops and booths surrounding it. When I was leaving a DJ had just started to spin records, but even before that the music selection was excellent. Crowd: The inside area was quite busy on Wednesday evening. Once the weather warms up I am sure the outside section would be a popular happy hour spot. Service: Nice bartender who was quick with drinks. Parking: Some parking in the area.

Good drinks but no air conditioning when i went. We were melting in there and therefor we had to leave and go somewhere else. Cool ambiance though. Service was mid

Cute bar, came for happy hour last night. But I don't think I'll return: - the oyster happy hour special pinned on their Instagram is not in effect until September, according to our waitress. Super annoying and they should remove that from their social page if it's not a valid offer. - I ordered the tomato pie, which was good but it was $13 for a glorified slice of pizza that wasn't filling. Felt very underwhelming for the price. - drinks were good!

Stopped by on a weekday after work for some drinks with the boyfriend and ended up ordering the day old spaghetti that we've been thinking about ever since. They have such a beautiful horseshoe-shaped bar inside and the interiors decorated in a deep shade of blue with gold accents. We sat on the outdoor parkette that was built out and styled thoughtfully. It's located on a corner so you can people watch liberally whilst among chill Brooklyn vibes.

I'd rate Bar Meridian four and a half stars. My wife and I came here for drinks after having dinner nearby. Solid beer selection with a focus on local, craft beers. Nice selection of cocktails too. They have outdoor seating plus a great indoor seating layout with big windows leading to a free flowing environment. There is one very spacious, gender neutral restroom. Staff was fantastic; they were helpful and extremely understanding.

Thoughtful new horse-shoe bar in the neighborhood. Really relaxed design with a creative cocktail list. On a little corner near Washington ave you'll find Bar Meridian. From the outside it doesn't look particularly bar-esque but probably a good thing. The main feature is a beautiful U-shaped bar in the heart of the space. It's really nice cause it allows you to see the others at the bar with you and potentially start a convo. There is plenty of seating here too which was great. I came around 19:00 and it was busy, but still had fast service. There are booths for medium-large groups more individual bar space along the windows, and some other group/date seating towards the front. I really enjoy how various is actually is, and how the space itself is calm and not too extravagant. Mute relaxed greys and dark blue, nice lighting. I really feel a neighborhood watering hole kind of vibe so far. They also have light bites! Shoutout to Sage the owner and staff for working so hard and being hospitable. Will definitely return soon

I went to this bar when it first opened and was impressed with their cocktails and the friendliness of the bartender (i think it's the owner). We finally made it back since we were in dire need of getting out of the house and having someone serve us a cocktail. The winter survival shop they have is awesome. Think bottles of wine, yummy snack foods, dips, focaccia in the most amazing smelling room. What's not to like. The beer list is elaborate too. Gotta love that they are on the natural wine train as well. Love this gem. Right now everything is served in plastics cups (covid obviously) but I can't wait to sit up at their bar and converse with the bartenders soon.

I went here for a round of happy hour with friends. I found it to be racist, and condescending. Don't come here. The drinks aren't good.

Food is great and staff is so friendly. Nick is a great bartender! Atmosphere is also very cozy.

one of my favorite cocktail bar in brooklyn. classy and elegant without being pretentious. ambiance is relaxing and service is attentive. I recommend martini and booth seating. Also, check out vinyl jukebox.

I've given this place many chances since they opened a few years back but have sadly left disappointed every time. With all the other options within a few blocks, it's hard to spend $13 for mediocre cocktails that taste (and feel) stingy on the liquor and $8 for less than a standard pint of beer. The indoors is very loud making conversation difficult, and service is usually slow (again, without the quality of drinks that would make the price worth it). The default tip of 25% on the payment app, which I would gladly pay for a better experience, always leaves a bad taste. I suggest walking a block in either direction on Washington and finding a better option.

Keep the cocktail bars coming into the neighborhood. I don't mind. They can all have my money. Bar Meridian is a solid new addition to the neighborhood. Opening up on an intersection of grand with some businesses, not too far from Washington and the neighborhood's main scene. Upon entering, you first notice the gorgeous horse shoe shaped bar. With ample amount of seating, getting a spot at the bar is clutch. Be forewarned though, despite being new, it's usually packed. There's also some nooks and couches around the space which are perfect for groups of people. I feel they are still developing their menu. Still trying to determine what they exactly want on the menu. I've seen things changing, but for the better, so that's good. They usually have some rotating special brews, your usual suspects. No beer/shot combo for now. The cocktails are delicious. Everyone making them appears to be very friendly. Tom is awesome. I also got to try some of the food. I had cheese plate one night. Hit the spot. Was exactly what I was looking for. I also had their Day Old Spaghetti (not actually a day old). Simple, but perfect if you're not looking for something heavy. Bar Meridian is definitely a spot worth hitting up.

Fancy shmancy new cocktail bar (with great beers as well!). The bar is super cool. Big ole U-shaped bar in the middle. A jukebox off to the side, and a bunch of smaller tables. Pretty dark and intimate for drinking by candlelight. On a Saturday night, it was between crowded and very crowded, so if you can grab a seat, do it. The aforementioned bar shape limits standing room. And sure, I bitched nonstop about ordering a beer that I didn't know supported Susan G. Komen (they're a garbage company - watch Pink Ribbons, Inc. to learn more). But it was a good beer. Ok, tangent over.

Bar Meridian, more like Bar Sh-shit-ian. My friend and I were excited to finally sit inside at a bar after waiting for the never-ending plague to finally pass. Like a moth to a flame we were lured in by Bar Sh-shits. Seemed so promising and fun. Remember fun?  How wrong we were. Greeted by no one, absolutely no one, we waited and waited at the bar for literally anyone, to give us any human acknowledgement. Still hopeful, we sat making serious eye contact with both the bar back and the car mechanic, oh wait, I mean bartender. Him and his onesie were apparently too cool for us. All we wanted was a simple menu, but it was clearly too much to ask. Crowded you ask? Nope. The bartender had more important tinder matches to make instead of servicing our car, oh wait no, I mean making our end of pandemic dreams come true with one simple drink.  Bar Sh-shits does not belong in Brooklyn, it belongs in some pretentious part of Manhattan (see my review on Beverly's). I couldn't help but wonder, can't we just be human beings instead of awful sh-shitheads?

MY FAVORITE BAR! Seriously. This place has it all! Ambiance, good service, tasty cocktails, dance parties, great DJs, A JUKEBOX. C'mon! And, the other secret about this spot is they have really good food!

If you're in Prospect Heights and looking for a nice atmosphere and good music to drink to then Bar Meridian is a great choice. The outdoor patio area is very nice and clean. The music, at least while I was there, created a nice, soulful ambiance. The DJ spun a nice assortment of rare funk and groove records. The food was very satisfying. I ordered the "Day Old Spaghetti," which was light, fresh, and filling. The dry Parmesan, lemon, and chili flakes accented the dish very well. The cocktail was delicious and the non-alcoholic beverage called Liquid Death was good. Staff was friendly and wore masks. I would definitely go back.

I love everything about this place. From the decor and color scheme to the drinks, this place will transport you back into the times of old in the best way. The owners designed every element of the space, and it shows. We finally learned the true meaning of top shelf vs bottom shelf liquor (it's literally setup that way)! We chatted with both bartenders - Tom and Set - and they were so nice as well as knowledgeable. They both seemed like true mixologists to me. They made us feel welcome and made the most delicious drinks. We will definitely be returning here soon!

My friends and I had a wonderful Sunday brunch, we were a group of 9 people. We end up tasting the whole menu, everything was perfectly done. I love myself the BLT, sun-dried tomatoes marmalade, superb ! The whitefish salad tartine is super good, also a very generous portion. I had forgot, the orange juice, is a the real thing !! Friendly staff, great drinks. I am coming back more often for a brunch and try lunch and dinner menu. It is a great place to have a group of friends, fair price, great drinks and very good food, and good music .

Not a very friendly bar, staff or patrons. They treated my daughter and I as if were a bother. Pretty place, but bad vibes and service. Not a place for this area of Brooklyn, we're too nice, open & friendly. Too pretentious for my taste.

Super friendly staff - both the person checking my vaccination and the bartender were genuinely kind and making small talk, cracking jokes. The place is dimly lit with a circular bar in the middle (which I'm a sucker for). The menu has a healthy variety of beer, (unique, but not overly-fancy) cocktails, and wine. All around good vibes fit for a date night, a quick drink, or catching up.

Djuna was the best server I ever had, she dealt with my annoying friends! They had so many questions about drinks and the neighborhood and she gave us honest and helpful answers. The drinks were delicious, especially the canned cocktails!

Very happy we finally decided to try this place out! Had walked by it for a few months and just now gave it a go. They have a nice shady patio space open diving COVID-19 and have a solid selection of cocktails, wines and beers on tap and in can. We got a chilled red wine (half bottle) and loved it. The vibe is nice and the staff are friendly. The inside seems cool too once things go back to normal. They also have a takeout window open right now. Would definitely recommend you stop by for a cocktail on a summer afternoon. Nice step up from other cocktail bars in the area!

Was very upset that the $16 "tomato pie" was simple a minuscule SLICE of pie. The menu was COMPLETELY misleading. My friend and I assumed we would be able to share this, assumed we would be served a pie with maybe four slices, but it was not possible. If the menu had said that it was a SLICE, rather than a "PIE", we would have had more accurate expectations. It was very annoying and honestly would make me less likely to visit. I can understand unreasonably small portions, but saying this was a pie rather than a slice was ridiculous.

Tucked in an unexpected street corner, the bar has chill vibes both indoors and outdoors. The drinks are simple but pleasing and not too crazy expensive. Staff is pretty laid back and friendly and overall a neighbourhood gem! The only thing is that a caution sign is probably a good idea by the sliding doors as my friend, as well as another guest I've seen, have caught their foot on the ledge. Otherwise come by for some ~sometimes random~ music (jukebox a plus) and solid drinks in a sleek but unpretentious spot!

I discovered this place just this past weekend, and it was lovely to find this hidden gem. Great drinks, excellent service, and a lovely setting for their outdoor seating. If you live in the neighborhood or are out wandering this way definitely check them out.
