Bar Milano by Eataly

Bar Milano is likely the best sit-down restaurant inside Eataly, even better than the rooftop option. Their pasta is fresh, and the service is excellent. However, the main downside is that the portion sizes do not justify the prices. If you want to dine at Eataly, this is the place to go. The food is truly remarkable, especially the pumpkin appetizer. They also offer an impressive selection of wines, including a Barolo wine flight.

I had a lunch here. Good service, good food as always in Eataly. I ordered spaghetti with pomodoro (datterino). The pasta was perfectly cooked. The tomato souce was good, but with some cooking water left.

Saw the 2 course meal at Bar Milano and decided to try it. Tried the Ricotta, Carne Cruda, Risotto and Tagliolini Pasta with shrimp. We both enjoyed our lunch and the service was excellent.

Very busy atmosphere due to the busy nature of the Eataly spot, but it made for a lively dinner. We opted for the special lunch menu which was well worth the price. The entrees and mains offered all looked (and were indeed) good! From the lunch menu, there were definitely enough vegetarian options, though I'm not 100% sure about vegan options.

This restaurant is in a food market. There is a couple of restaurants In the Market. The tables were very close together and felt a little awkward sitting so close to people while trying to have a nice quiet dinner with my wife. If you want a peace and quiet setting, this is not the place. The food was very good but the portion size was small for the price. I had the ravioli and would recommend it.

Bar Milano is a great option for diners looking to eat in style, however compared to the Italian competition in NYC, this place doesn’t stack up. I’d skip if you want to eat but it’s a good spot for a drink. The few items we ordered were unfortunately all dry, flavorless, and overpriced. I’d consider this spot a tourist trap.

Great Italian pizza and dishes all the way, and the decor is especially nice.

This was our first time here and to say we're impressed would be an understatement. We thought it would just be a little market and boy were we wrong! We decide to get drinks and a midday snack at Bar Milano. The bartender was so friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful! We delighted in discussing wines and cocktails with him. Had an orange wine for the first time in our lives and really enjoyed it. He described it as "funky in a good way" and I can't think of a better description. It was very good. For snacks we had bread and oil and the risotto al salto. This is hands down the best appetizer I've ever had in my life, to include when I was in Italy. The risotto is cooked with saffron and chicken stock and then fried in clarified butter till it forms a crispy crust. It was so rich and creamy with that crunchy crust offering a perfect balance. There were also dollops of a cheese sauce that perfectly complimented it. I would have licked the plate if I had any less manners. And while basic, the bread/EVOO was also on point. The bread had a perfectly crunchy crust with soft, airy center. It had a perfect hint of saltiness to counterbalance the wonderfully pungent EVOO. We enjoyed sitting at the bar and people watching, surrounded by delicious Italian goods. I will definitely return.

Stopped by the bar for a quick cocktail after work and went off menu with an amaretto sour. Service was quick and extremely friendly, and the bartender specified all the details of the drink with me to ensure I got exactly what I wanted. The drink was perfect with great flavor and excellent presentation (not to mention it was quick). The ambiance of the bar area is fairly quiet but with a bustling background from the market around. Highly recommend stopping in for a quick after work drink if you're in the area!

As per most of my other recent reviews, I went to this restaurant a good while ago. I arrived here early and as they have a good selection of negronis like most other Italian spots, I had one. I went with the L'Amarena for $18 with Luxardo Maraschino, Luxardo Bitter Bianco, and Luxardo Sour Cherry Gin. It was tasty with a bit of sourness and some bitterness. The bartender there was friendly as well and I would go back and try the Chinato as well. Soon, the rest of my party arrived and we got seated. The wait staff we had was fine and the bread that came out was good but a bit cool which was unfortunate. The tables were nicely spaced and there was some noise from Eataly but not too much. I went with the Tagliatelle al Ragù di Vitello for $32 with Housemade Tagliatelle Pasta, Mosner Family Veal Ragù, and Agriform Grana Padano DOP. More accurately this would be described as a blanco ragu which is a bit different than the usual red one you find here. The pasta was cooked a bit too long for my liking being beyond al dente and had an unappetizing texture. The meat was stringy and honestly very watery and just wasn't tasty with the only thing good on there being the excellent quality cheese but that is just simply added on top and not cooked. I'm not sure if this is how it's made in Milan but I honestly hated this pasta dish and I wouldn't recommend it. I tried a bit of someone else's pasta which was fine but overpriced and I think one person enjoyed their steak which looked fine. I don't remember what the other person had. As my side/contorno, I had something that doesn't seem to exist on the menu anymore which was the Cauliflower/Cavolfiore for $12 which was roasted with some I believe currants and a small amount of pine nuts/pignoli. The cauliflower could have been roasted a bit longer but it was fine and it had a bit of sweetness and a bit of nuttiness. There was also a bit of sourness and wouldn't be surprised if there was also balsamic glaze or something added to the cooking process. This was good but not great. The food here was overpriced and just wasn't tasty. I know it's in Eataly so that can excuse the prices but if the flavor is also bad, what's the point? At least the cocktail was decent. Maybe go here for the risotto instead or something. Low 2 though it would be a 1 if I didn't order a cocktail.

I had a lovely time with my husband at this restaurant but wanted just a little more. I believe my review is accurate and fair. But I would have given it a 3.5 if that rating was possible. When meandering through the labyrinth at Eataly, we decided to pick a restaurant inside the market, and we stumbled upon Bar Milano after our dinner at Pastis was cancelled due to a booking mix up. It was a nice open air vibe with shoppers walking by and a nice cozy back room divided by a glass paned wall. White fabric decor hung from the ceiling, adding a little bit of noise muffling. It was a nice vibe, and the servers were attentive but not disruptive. The bread came out and we were disappointed at how cold it was. Like it had been sitting in a fridge. Our appetizer of squash with roasted pumpkin seeds, and hazelnuts, various herbs and micro-greens was delicious, but again this dish should have been served at room temp or warm. It tasted like it may have been previously made or at least the squash was. I would have liked this dish hot, and the chips to be crispy, not cold and chewy and essentially inedible. The ricotta base was also delicious. The black truffle scallops were excellent but the dish was tiny, maybe 4 oz of food total for a hefty price. Nice to taste the truffle in the scallops, but four small scallops for $30+ just not worth it. The tagliatelle and braised veal was deliciou and also a medium sized portion, but also, just plopped in the middle of the plate with no herbs air fanfare. Felt like it was under dressed. Overall a good dining experience, but left us a little hungry afterwards. We'll try another place next time. I didn't know there were at least three other restaurants we could have tried. We found out afterwards, and joked "Let's go to dinner again" because we were still a little hungry.

Eataly had a lively atmosphere due to its busy surroundings with the shops. Even though they have many activities and attractions in the area, this place really stood out. We chose the special lunch menu, which was definitely worth it. The entrees and mains looked and tasted great, with plenty of vegetarian options.

The Master Chef fan in me just HAD to dine at an Eataly restaurant located just down the street from the Flatiron building, Eataly was such a cool spot! When you walk in you get to see beautiful vine greenery with lights accenting them all over the walls and entryway. You are first greeted by the gelato shop and open market where you can pick up Italian snacks, cheeses, and even some fresh fish! Toward the back of the market you will find Bar Milano and their other restaurants. We made reservations in advance, expecting it to be pretty busy, which it was. We could tell the place seemed understaffed, but our waiter took great care of us regardless and tried to make our experience as seamless as possible. To drink we ordered the Amalfy45 & Singapore Sling (must try). For our food we ordered the Pappardelle al Ragu di Vitello, and the Tortiglioni al Sugo di Pomodoro! The Ragu absolutely made the dish according to my husband and the pomodoro was perfection! That along with our bread service was enough to leave us full and ready for a nap afterwards! I would love to go back and experience more of Eataly in the future!

Terrible service. Rude manager treating me and my kids with a terrible attitude. The only reason we didn't leave it's because is Thanksgiving day and other places were probably busy. We will never go back. Don't eat here. Besides the ridiculous service, the food it's a solid 4 out of 10. $140 dollars for two pastas e two risottos. Just do yourself a favor and go somewhere else.

OMG delicious lunch! Came for lunch with my coworker Risotto ai Funghi - so good I can eat this everyday Risotto Limone - this was surprisingly good, I thought lemon and cheesy/cream wouldn't mix :D Agrumato - lavender and lemon so refreshing, my coworker said she should have gotten this drink Cocco - fig, coconut and cranberry, this combination made it look and taste like a coffee latte :/

I had the wild mushroom risotto. It was creamy, tasty and so delicious. You could really taste the mushrooms. As a starter I had the prosciutto with the rustico bread. The bread is served Tuscan style with little to no salt, was fresh and delicious. It is served with some excellent olive oil. The prosciutto was very good not the I ever had. A little dry. Would return.

We stopped here for drinks before a dinner reservation and was so pleasantly supervised! The cocktails we so good and honestly really unique. It is a great bar to sit at and people watch in eataly with really cute set up. I would highly recommend the Amalfy 75, it was such a well crafted cocktail, I have honestly never tasted anything like it and really enjoyed it!

Wonderful ambiance especially the bar seating to watch the open kitchen work. A bit expensive but vibes and entertainment were definitely worth the price of admission

Cute wine bar. Good selection of wine. Great deal for bread. But unfortunately, the bartender/server committed a great sin concerning wine tasting. He served my taste samples NOT in separate glasses, but the same glass. Wth... I have never had this occur ever at any restaurant or bar for that matter because the majority of people know you don't do that. That error is the sign of a subpar wine place to be honest. Remedial training is definitely needed for that server. Other than that huge error (which is easily worth a 2 star dock), place was good. Debating on going back though.

Bar Milano had undergone many avatars since Eataly opened. On Tuesday after a follow up with the dentist who said I could now eat rice I jumped with joy. Continuing my birthday celebration I went to Bar Milano and ordered the Wild Mushroom Risotto. I could have ordered the risotto with artichokes but I had to be mindful of eating soft food. Bread was offered and if I had known that it would cost the princely sum of $4, I would have declined. The server should have piped up to tell me that the bread was not on the house. Nevertheless I tore off the soft middle part and dipped it with olive oil. The risotto didn't need too much time to cool down so I started eating and enjoyed it immensely. I polished the plate clean. Bar Milano is opposite the live fish counter and customers walk up and down to the other parts of the store. Surprisingly it's quiet inside. It felt like I was the only person here.

We had a wonderful time celebrating our anniversary during Restaurant Fest. We sat by the chef's counter to watch all the magic happening in front of us. The service was warm and attentive. We appreciate the complimentary anniversary drinks and the wishes. Negroni lovers would enjoy going through the extensive Negroni drink list - our server's recommendation was great. All the dishes we picked from the restaurant fest menu were fantastic. I am not a big fan of risotto, but the one here was cooked to perfection! The breading on the Vitello alla Milanese was so thin, and the seasoning was spot on that I couldn't stop eating it even when I was full. We also tried the uni and caviar special - I'd recommend the uni piece.

This restaurant is perfectly adequate but highly overpriced. We came during the Eataly promo where you can get a side and main starting at $19, but at Bar Milano it's actually $29. One of the specials for the season is truffle both black and white--which they had a special white truffle risotto. Of course we ordered this and then a starter of the meatballs and main of veal milanese. The risotto was an astonishing $39. At this price, I would have expected the most delicious truffle dish. This was not it! In fact, it was quite bland. They made a show of shaving the white truffle on the dish, and although quite nicely delicate, just didn't do enough to elevate the dish. The meatball appetizer tasted like ground Vienna sausages. My friend loved the., but I didn't much care for them. The veal was quite lovely but only came with a small salad.. not much of a main course. And quite pricey for being over $20. The service is quite nice, although we sat at the bar. They were very attentive and ensured we had everything we wanted. I'm not likely to come back here for this, but Eataly in general is a lovely place to visit!

3/5 stars is SUPER accurate. Food was overpriced and pasta tasted mediocre. I've had caviar before and I don't recall it being that ridiculously expensive. I think one scoop was $40? Good lord. I don't even think I had enough of it to actually taste it. Service was good-- we liked the guy that came around to get our orders and he had good suggestions. He told one of us not to get the fusilli I think? And he was right, it totally sucked and my boyfriend called it bougie chef boyardee. The ONLY redeeming thing about this place was their desserts. The chocolate cake was amazing. The tiramisu was perfect. Just come for these two things, and get the lunch somewhere else.

Eataly was hosting an event called Restaurant Fest for only 2 weeks in October. My friend and I decided to participate at one of their restaurants. Different restaurants had different priced 2-course pre-fixe menus. We tried Serra, but it was booked already for the date we wanted, so we went with Bar Milano. We didn't regret it. The food was absolutely amazing. For our 2-course meal, I went with the roasted sweet peppers topped with anchovies. I loved the contrast of the sweet & salty. The two together just paired so well. My friend got the salad. Entrees we both got the mushroom risotto. She got the extra 3 grams of happiness on hers. We also decided to get the miniature bites of happiness: black truffle ricotta puff & the uni bruschetta. We split them in half to taste and they were sooooo goooood. If they weren't so expensive, I think we would've gotten more of those. The risotto was really good too, creamy and not grainy. The rice was cooked down perfectly and it just went well with the wine we were drinking. We shared a dessert, the Cioccolato, which is a hazelnut based dessert. It was heavenly and so rich. We were both practically in food comas by the time we finished eating. But what a meal. Holy sh*t. If they do Restaurant Fest again, you can guarantee I'll be there.

It was...ok. I wanted to love it. I did, especially because one of my friends raved about it. Service left much to be desired. Bar Milano was fairly empty so I figured I'd get quicker service there than elsewhere. I was incorrect. After sitting at the bar for 10-15 minutes I did eventually get someone to notice I was there (they sat me at the bar, I did not sit myself there). It took another ten minutes to get water. It took forever to get refills on the water. There was a food festival occurring so I thought I'd order from that menu. I ordered the Tortelli di Piselli and Mondeghili. Neither was anything to write home about. In the end, it was just an ok meal that made me wish I had gone elsewhere.

Stopped in here during Restaurant Week on a super hot day. Once inside, we found ourselves comfortably seated in a nice corner booth. Being our first time here, our waiter happily answered our questions and even made suggestions based on our comments. We were very happy with our choices. A couple of minor hiccups but overall service and food were good.

We loved this place the first time a few weeks back, that we came back again for the same plates! The service is perfect, no complaints about it. We arrived a few minutes early for our reservation and the hostess called me by my name! The skirt steak, cooked medium, was absolutely devine. The mashed potatoes are served as seared medallion gives a great texture with its caramelization. The pomodoro fusuli is just the right amount of acidity. The sauce is perfectly balanced and the fusuli pasta holds just the right amount. Bread & olive oil is always a winner here. Have you ever opened a new bottle of olive oil at home and noticed over the weeks, it looses the tang? Not here. You can tell the olive oil is at its peak serving quality! We will be back again, hopefully to try some new dishes soon! Thanks, Bar Milano, for being a pleasant addition to our evening.

Insalata Autunnale: 8.5/10 Pappardelle Al ragu di Vitello: 8.5/10 Tiramisu: 10/10 Recommend ordering balsamic with the bread provided. Really nice ambiance & overall experience. Walk up lunch availability on a Saturday. Dessert was phenomenal.

Saturday, July 8, 2022 @2:45 pm Met up with my good friend Michelle to eat, talk, listen, eat, listen, talk and start it all over again, in a different order. We both order the Tortelli con Mais e Pomodorini Gialli which had polenta and sweet corn filled ravioli, arrigoni taleggio DOP and sungold tomato. This dish was so good that I'm thinking of a quick return. The sauce was creamy and smooth as well as the ravioli was cooked to perfection as well as delicious. The decor is crisp, clean and modern. How about I return in a couple of weeks, yes to reorder the same dish. Maybe eventually I will move on to something else on the menu. Menu is pretty limited and not that easy to follow. Husband and I went with the pappardelle pasta and it was really good. Kids went with the risotto, but the saffron one made me unimpressed. The desserts, though, are the best part! Their tiramisu is out of this world! Really light! I could eat that every day! The panettone apparently was good too, but I'd have to fight with the kids for a bite of that...maybe next time.

Good place for fresh pasta. Singapore Sling is super: perfect blend of sweet and sour. You can get pastries or gelato from the market within Eataly. Expect it to be busy and noisy

It's solid but the wait and service isn't fantastic, and the cuisine is good but not amazing. I would only come during a restaurant week promo when you can get the roasted shank over the bone marrow risotto, which is perfectly creamy and accented with saffron. Portions are very small but maybe only in the US - they are pretty much single-serve.

Probably the worst Italian food in NY since I arrived. I'm referring to the original Italian food not to the italo-american one. It is at the border with a scam. We had: 1. Prosciutto crudo and mozzarella: 3 slices of prosciutto, a bit dry and the most common mozzarella that you find in the SevenEleven. aprox. 30$- 2. Branzino - a cold piece of branzino put on a bread slice soaked in some sort of liquid. HORRIBLE!!! you should be ashamed to serve this and to describe it mediteranean branzino. This for 28$ without tax and tip. 3. Pasta with ragù - the most horrible ragù ever had. Was looking like pulled pork which i thing it was. aprox. 35$. 4. 1 bottle of wine 200$. Horrible! Never again! Not sure that the owner of Eataly ever set foot in this place.

I loved my experience at Bar Milano, I can't stop thinking about the halibut, cooked to perfection. The service was spot on. While in New York we visited a few recommended restaurants this was my favorite. I recommend this restaurant and enjoyed shopping after for amazing Italian goodies. Enjoy

I really, really want to love this place. The previous restaurant (Monza) was my favorite Italian restaurant in the US. So here's the bad and then the good. Bad: food just ok, subpar menu At Monza the menu was superb. I particularly loved the Trio, which was a 3 course meal of pasta that was to die for. There's no Trio here. We ordered an app and two entrées, but the only one item on the menu really jumped out at us. The pepperdelle with pork was VERY salty. Even a heavy dose of park couldn't save it. The GOOD: setting, the tortellini, wine We actually preferred the new layout (very small changes) just more intimate. The best part was the butternut squash tortellini- which was a new take on a Monza favorite previously done with Ravioli. It's so good, that you must go and get it. If the menu gets better I'll change this to a 5 star. I will definitely be back for the tortellini and the Mirafiori

My mom and I sat here last week for a few drinks. Because we had dinner reservations elsewhere, I cannot speak to the food, but I can speak to the atmosphere and the quality of their drinks. The music was lovely. They played easy French and Italian music that immediately put me at ease. The bartender, Goose, is incredibly skilled. My mom ordered the Carpano Ambrato Negroni which was strong, as they should be, and done really well. I ordered the Coriandolo cocktail with their house infused cilantro liqueur and it was one of the best cocktails I've had in years. The staff in the kitchen felt very professional, poised and polished in their attire. The head chef was very friendly and clearly took great care of all the dishes being served. Next time I am in NYC, I will be staying for drinks and dinner! Thank you for a wonderful memory my mom and I are able to share.

Absolutely the worst food I have eaten this year in NYC. Total disappointment and embarrassing as we brought out of town friends to eat here. Tasteless, tiny portions, and way overpriced food. Save your money, Olive Garden is better than this place and that's really saying something if you know good Italian food.

Had a very unfortunate experience here. Ordered a glass of wine that was corked and requested a different glass, and the waiter very rudely told me to "decide on one glass and stick with it." All three of the dishes we ordered were ~airplane food quality (risotto was very salty and pasta tasted ronzoni straight from the box). Eataly is not known for its restaurants, but will definitely not be coming here again.

Pretty disappointed by the experience we had here. I used to love eating at the various restaurants in Eataly and when my friend said she'd never been we decided to walk down and have a nice meal. Bar Milano is the only restaurant I hadn't tried in Eataly and the menu looked great but the food was so disappointing and the service was slow AF. We told our waiter we knew what we wanted to drink and then he disappeared for 10 minutes before we could even order our cocktails. They were fine. But the food we ordered was cold! Not even luke warm risotto? I asked that it be heated up... which felt like a trashy request but it was shrugged off. The risotto was then gone for another 10 minutes in which time my friend's pasta got cold... and then it was returned to me watered down? It's like they added hot broth to it but it was honestly just gross. The butter beans and escarole tasted like something you'd eat in a hospital. It just sucked. The portions sucked. The service sucked. The food sucked. It's just disappointing to spend $100 on a meal out when boxed Mac and cheese would have been more satisfying Can't fully express my disappointment. Won't be returning. Would not recommend. Love Eataly as a store. Hated this dining experience.
